Expert Opinions on the Concept of Blood stasis in China: An Interview study

Objective: To study various experts’ opinions on the definition and diagnosis of blood stasis in China. Methods: We e-mailed the selected experts to explain the purpose of the study and to invite them to participate and asked them to name a time for the investigator to call them. Eight experts and five organizations were interviewed in the research community investigating blood stasis in China. Results: six main categories emerged from the interviews:(1) blood stasis concepts;(2) blood stasis-related biomarkers;(3) methods of diagnosing blood stasis;(4) drugs for promoting blood circulation and dissipating stasis;(5) blood stasis-related diseases; and(6) blood stasis-related societies. The consensus among the interviewed experts was that the definition of blood stasis is rather complicated and that there is no gold standard marker for detecting blood stasis. Conclusion: This paper acquired experts’ opinions on the definition and diagnosis of blood stasis in order to establish a modern concept of blood stasis. This paper also developed a diagnostic tool and diagnostic indices for blood stasis and identified biological indices and pathologic mechanisms related to blood stasis, which might be of great reference value in future blood stasis standardization research.

In this work, we analyzed only the patients of the NsTEMI (non sT-segment elevation myocardial infarction) who arrived at the hospital within 12 h after symptoms started. Using NsTEMI follow-up data within, the characteristics of the clinical data, the risk factor, and the blood tested in the hospital visit were analyzed for MACE (major adverse cardiac events) patients. MACE includes cardiac death, MI (myocardial infarction), Re-PCI, and CABG (coronary artery bypass graft). As a result, from the NsTEMI patients which can be followed up for over 12 m, NT-ProBNP (p=0.014) and age (p=0.045) are found to be the independent risk factors related to MACE. Accordingly, they can be useful for the diagnosis and prognosis for NsTEMI patients as a biomarker.

There is growing interest in using ecosystem services to aid development of management strategies that target sustainability and enhance ecosystem support to humans. Challenges remain in the search for methods and indicators that can quantify ecosystem services using metrics that are meaningful in light of their high priorities. We developed a framework to link ecosystems to human wellbeing based on a stepwise approach. We evaluated prospective models in terms of their capacity to quantify national ecosystem services of forests. The most applicable models were subsequently used to quantify ecosystem services. The Korea Forest Research Institute model sat- isfied all criteria in its first practical use. A total of 12 key ecosystem services were identified. For our case study, we quantified four ecosystem functions, viz. water storage capacity in forest soil for water storage service, reduced suspended sediment for water purification service, reduced soil erosion for landslide prevention service, and reduced sediment yield for sediment regulation service. Water storage capacity in forest soil was estimated at 2142 t/ha, and reduced suspended sediment was estimated at 608 kg/ ha. Reduced soil erosion was estimated at 77 m^3/ha, and reduced sediment yield was estimated at 285 m^3/ha. These results were similar to those reported by previous studies. Mapped results revealed hotspots of ecosystem services around protected areas that were particularly rich in bio- diversity. In addition, the proposed framework illustrated that quantification of ecosystem services could be sup- ported by the spatial flow of ecosystem services. However, our approach did not address challenges faced when quantifying connections between ecosystem indicators and actual benefits of services described.

We report a patient with severe ataxia due to Dandy-Walker malformation, who showed functional recovery over 10 months corresponding to a change in a cerebellar peduncle lesion. A 20-month-old female patient who was diagnosed with Dandy-Walker syndrome and six age- and sex-matched healthy control subjects were enrolled. The superior cerebellar peduncle, the middle cerebellar peduncle, and the inferior cerebellar peduncle were evaluated using fractional anisotropy and the apparent diffusion coefficient. The patients＇ functional ambulation category was 0 at the initial visit, but improved to 2 at the follow-up evaluation, and Berg＇s balance scale score also improved from 0 to 7. Initial diffusion tensor tractography revealed that the inferior cerebellar peduncle was not detected, that the fractional anisotropy of the superior cerebellar peduncle and middle cerebellar peduncle decreased by two standard deviations below, and that the apparent diffusion coefficient increased by two standard deviations over normal control values. However, on follow-up diffusion tensor tractography, both inferior cerebellar peduncles could be detected, and the fractional anisotropy of superior cerebellar peduncle increased to within two standard deviations of normal controls. The functional improvement in this patient appeared to correspond to changes in these cerebellar peduncles. We believe that evaluating cerebellar peduncles using diffusion tensor imaging is useful in cases when a cerebellar peduncle lesion is suspected.

In this work time independent damping systems are studied using Lagrangian and Hamiltonian for time independent damping, which are present through the factor esup>λqsup>. The Hamilton Jacobi equation is formulated to find the Hamilton Jacobi function s using separation of variables technique. We can form this function in compact form of two parts the first part as a function of coordinate q, and the second part as a function of time t. Finally, we find the ability of these systems to quantize through an illustrative example.
