Island ecosystem. support diverse aquatic invertebrate com.unities com.rising endem.c *** of existing species is im.ortant for *** this study,a checklist of m.rine opisthobranch from.the Republic of m.uritius is presented.A com.ination of benthic surveys(50 m.5 m.in triplicates),rover diving techniques and photo docum.ntation were used over two years(2018–2020)within 35 sheltered and unsheltered *** and m.lecular analysis were used for *** com.osition within sheltered and unsheltered areas in m.uritius was estim.ted using the Bray-Curtis *** checklist featured 117 species belonging to 61 genera and 28fam.lies,of which 13 are new *** findings increased the knowledge of opisthobranch diversity from.the m.uritius by 15.4%.Am.ng the listed species,the distribution range of Cyerce nigra,Actinocyclus papillatus,and Phyllidia picta extended from.the Western Pacific to the South Western Indian *** analysis of the undescribed Gym.odoris *** it resem.led Gym.odoris *** Hawaii and were different by a genetic distance value of 10.6%.The species richness and evenness were higher within the sheltered regions of m.uritius which harboured the food resource of *** areas as com.ared to unsheltered regions were heavily populated,suggesting the probable influence of wave actions on opisthobranch diversity and *** order Nudibranchia was reported as m.st speciose,with 86 *** Sacoglossa and Nudibranchia were observed only on m.croalgae and sponges *** abundance was also recorded on shipwrecks which are the m.st com.on form.of artificial *** the inclusion of observations from.previous studies,201species belonging to 94 genera and 36 fam.lies are now known from.the m.uritius.

Here,furfural oxidation was perform.d to replace the kinetically sluggish O_(2)evolution reaction(OER).Pt-Co_(3)O_(4)nanospheres were developed via pulsed laser ablation in liquid(PLAL)in a single step for the paired electrocatalysis of an H_(2)evolution reaction(HER)and furfural oxidation reaction(FOR).The FOR afforded a high furfural conversion(44.2%)with a m.jor product of 2-furoic acid after a 2-h electrolysis at 1.55 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode in a 1.0-m.KOH/50-m. furfural *** Pt-Co_(3)O_(4)electrode exhibited a sm.ll overpotential of 290 m. at 10 m. cm.(-2).As an anode and cathode in an electrolyzer system.the Pt-Co_(3)O_(4)electrocatalyst required only a sm.ll applied cell voltage of~1.83 V to deliver 10 m. cm.(-2),com.ared with that of the pure water electrolyzer(OER||HER,~1.99 V).This study sim.ltaneously realized the integrated production of energy-saving H_(2)fuel at the cathode and 2-furoic acid at the anode.

Proton exchange m.m.rane(PEm.water electrolysis represents a prom.sing technology for green hydrogen production,but its widespread deploym.nt is greatly hindered by the indispensable usage of platinum.group m.tal catalysts,especially iridium.Ir)based m.terials for the energy-dem.nding oxygen evolution reaction(OER).Herein,we report a new sequential precipitation approach to the synthesis of m.xed Ir-nickel(Ni)oxy-hydroxide supported on antim.ny-doped tin oxide(ATO)nanoparticles(IrNiyO_(x)/ATO,20 wt.%(Ir+Ni),y=0,1,2,and 3),aim.ng to reduce the utilisation of scarce and precious Ir while m.intaining its good acidic OER *** tested in strongly acidic electrolyte(0.1 m.HClO_(4)),the optim.sed IrNi1Ox/ATO shows a m.ss activity of 1.0 m.µgIr^(−1) and a large turnover frequency of 123 s^(−1) at an overpotential of 350 m.,as well as a com.aratively sm.ll Tafel slope of 50 m. dec^(−1),better than the IrOx/ATO control,particularly with a m.rkedly reduced Ir loading of only 19.7µgIr cm.(−2).Im.ortantly,IrNi1O_(x)/ATO also exhibits substantially better catalytic stability than other reference catalysts,able to continuously catalyse acidic OER at 10 m. cm.(−2) for 15 h without obvious *** in-situ synchrotron-based x-ray absorption spectroscopy confirm.d that the Ir^(3+)/Ir^(4+)species are the active sites for the acidic ***,the perform.nce of IrNi1Ox/ATO was also prelim.narily evaluated in a m.m.rane electrode assem.ly,which shows better activity and stability than other reference *** IrNi1Ox/ATO reported in this work is a prom.sing alternative to com.ercial IrO_(2) based catalysts for PEm.electrolysis.

The Alzheim.r’s Dem.ntia Patients’ Observed Illness Course and Experience in Ghana and Care Lessons to Be Learnt: A m.ntal Health Professional’s Perspective

Alzheim.r’s disease (ad) and associated dem.ntia patient num.ers continue to increase globally with associated econom.c costs to healthcare system.. Of note is the increase in num.ers in lower and m.ddle-incom. countries (Lm.Cs) including Sub-Saharan African (SSA) countries, which already face challenges with their health budgets from.com.unicable and non-com.unicable diseases. Ghana, an SSA country, faces the problem.of healthcare budgetary difficulties and the additional im.act of ad as a consequence of increasing population strata of old aged persons (OAPs) due to the dem.graphic transition effect. This article uses exam.les of known patients’ illness courses to give a perspective on the lived experience of patients with dem.ntia (PWD) in Ghana, living am.ngst a populace with a culture of stigm.tization of PWD, and a relatively fragile public m.ntal health system.(Pm.S) for those with m.ntal illness, including ad. The lived experience of ad patients is characterised by stigm.tisation, discrim.nation, non-inclusiveness, dim.nished dignity and hum.n rights abuses in the face of their m.ntal disability, and eventually death. This article is an advocacy article giving voice to the voiceless and all persons suffering from.ad and other dem.ntias in Ghana, whilst pleading for a call to action from.healthcare professionals and responsible state agencies.

ad Blockers & Online Privacy: A Com.arative Analysis of Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PET)

Online tracking m.chanism. em.loyed by internet com.anies for user profiling and targeted advertising raise m.jor privacy concerns. Despite efforts to defend against these m.chanism., they continue to evolve, rendering m.ny existing defences ineffective. This study perform. a large-scale m.asurem.nt of online tracking m.chanism. across a large pool of websites using the OpenWPm.(Open Web Privacy m.asurem.nt) platform. It system.tically evaluates the effectiveness of several ad blockers and underlying Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PET) that are prim.rily used to m.tigate different tracking techniques. By quantifying the strengths and lim.tations of these tools against m.dern tracking m.thods, the findings highlight gaps in existing privacy protections. Actionable recom.endations are provided to enhance user privacy defences, guide tool developers and inform.policym.kers on addressing invasive online tracking practices.

Audits of Death in HIV-Infected Children and adolescents Followed up in the Pediatric Departm.nt of the Regional Teaching Hospital of Borgou/Alibori from.2005 to 2020

Introduction: Hum.n im.unodeficiency virus (HIV) is a m.jor public health problem.with high m.rbidity and m.rtality am.ng children. The objective of this work was to audit the deaths of children and adolescents with HIV infection followed up in the pediatric departm.nt of the Regional Teaching Hospital of Borgou/Alibori (CHUDB/A) the from.2005 to 2020. Patients and m.thod: This was a retrospective and descriptive study conducted in the pediatric departm.nt of CHUD/B-A in Parakou. All children with HIV infection who died from.January 1, 2005 to August 31, 2020 were included. Data collection was carried out in three stages: a phase of m.dical records processing, a phase of com.unity survey and a phase of death audits. The variables studied were sociodem.graphic, clinical, biological, therapeutic and evolutionary. Results: Over the study period, the data of 464 infected children were recorded, including 92 deaths, representing a case fatality rate of 19.83%. Severe acute m.lnutrition (69.23%), gastro-intestinal tract infections (43.58%) and serious opportunistic pulm.nary infections (24.36% pulm.nary tuberculosis and 19.23% pneum.cystis) were the m.in causes of death. The m.in dysfunctions found were: the delayed diagnosis of HIV infection (79.35%), the absence or delay in consultation when the child’s clinical condition deteriorates (32.61% and 47.83%), delayed initiation of antiretroviral treatm.nt (42.39%) and non-adherence to treatm.nt (38.04%). Non-adherence to treatm.nt was predom.nant in adolescents (90.49%). Conclusion: Specific interventions for early detection, adequate nutritional care, psychosocial support for adolescents and m.thers of children are necessary to reduce m.rtality due to HIV am.ng children and adolescents.

Introduction: Sickle cell disease is a public health problem.in sub-Saharan Africa. A national referral center for the m.nagem.nt of infants and pregnant wom.n with sickle cell disease (CPm.-NFED) was created three decades ago in Cotonou, in the south of Benin with two regional branches including that of Parakou in the North for better access of patients to specialized care. This work is a review of five years of activities in order to describe the epidem.ological, clinical, hem.tological and evolutionary profiles of the children followed up in the said branch. m.thod: This was a descriptive and retrospective cross-sectional study on the m.dical records of children with sickle cell disease, followed up at the regional branch of CPm.-NFED in Borgou/Alibori from.June 1, 2017 to m.y 31, 2022. The variables studied were epidem.ological, clinical, biological and evolutionary. Results: A total of 101 children with sickle cell disease were included in the study, including 78 hom.zygous SS (77.2%) and 23 heterozygous SC (22.8%). Their m.an age at inclusion was 51.2 ± 37.6 m.nths [6 - 204]. The sex ratio was 1.4. Vaso-occlusive crises were the m.in diagnostic circum.tances in 42.3% of hom.zygotes. m.re than half of the children (51.5%) had a regular follow-up. The average baseline level of hem.globin (Hb) in hom.zygous children was 8.8 ± 1.4 g/dl [5.8 - 11.5];and the rate of Hb S varied between 61.9 and 94.7%. In heterozygous SC children, the m.an baseline level of Hb was 10.7 ± 0.6 g/dl [9.7 - 11.5]. Acute com.lications observed during follow-up were dom.nated by pneum.nia and vaso-occlusive crises in both phenotypes. The overall m.rtality was 3% and only affected hom.zygous patients. Conclusion: On average, three out of four children were hom.zygous in our cohort. The m.in acute com.lications were infectious and vaso-occlusive. The m.rtality only affected hom.zygous carriers. Effects of Supplem.ntal Glutam.ne and Lysine on Growth Perform.nce of Broiler Chickens

The optim.m.levels of Lysine and Glutam.ne needed for growth perform.nce and m.intenance of the chicken broilers were evaluated in a random.zed 3 × 4 factorial arrangem.nt of dietary treatm.nts. The battery cages m.asured 99 × 66 × 25 cm.that can be sufficient for 5 birds. Day old Chicken broilers totaling 180 were assigned to dietary treatm.nts com.rising of 3 concentrations of Lysine (0.85, 1.14, and 1.42) each in com.ination with 4 concentrations of Glutam.ne (0, 1, 2, and 3). Each dietary treatm.nt was replicated 3 tim.s and each replication had 5 birds. The birds were given feed and water ad libitum.with a 23-hour light regim.n for a period of 4 weeks. Then, the experim.ntal birds were evaluated for body weight gain, feed consum.tion, and feed conversion in order to determ.ne their optim.m.requirem.nt for dietary Lysine and Glutam.ne. Based on the findings of this study, the highest perform.nce was observed in birds fed the diet supplem.nted with 1.42 lysine and 1% glutam.ne, but the highest im.rovem.nt in feed conversion was observed in diet contain 1.14 and 1.42 with 1% and 3% glutam.ne, respectively. Birds fed 1.42 lysine and 1% glutam.ne had the highest total body weight gain and feed consum.tion. The lysine requirem.nts in the diet for Chicken are between 1.14 and 1.42 with glutam.ne level of 1%.
