Mount Fouimba and Mount Goma (Seguela) greenstone belts petro-structural studies combine remote sensing, geophysics, petrography and structural analysis. In view of establishing mapping details of paleoproterozoic geological formations, geological setting rocks observed are essentially magmatic formations, such as two-mica granite, granodiorites, and porphyritic basalts;and a few metamorphics which are metatonalite, amphibolites and amphibo-lopyroxenites. Remote sensing, such as Landsat 8 OLI satellite imagery and geophysical data, has been combined to show regional NNe-SW shear zone. Tectonic structures and microstructures have enabled to identify two main deformation phases: D1 phase corresponding to compression, and D2 is a transpression phase. Mechanisms responsible for deformations are respectively flattening and transpression. Geological formations derived from mantle origin but contain crustal components, and their tectonic setting occurred during subduction.

Lamto Reserve area is a savannah landscape threatened by periodic drought, and anthropogenic activities leading to natural ecological imbalance. The ecological support services of the landscape had been significantly impacted by the grassland ecosystem. The Breaks for Additive Season and Trend Algorithms have been implemented in R to analyze the land cover/land use dynamic in relation to the climatic driver of Lamto forest from 2000 to 2020. We examine the vegetation state breaks using vegetation phenological patterns, and several time series including the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index and the enhanced Vegetation Index, were studied utilizing Breaks for Additive Season and Trend. The findings indicate that the phenological changes in the vegetation in 2020 resulted from an increased temperature from (27.7°C) to (32.17°C), and a decrease in precipitation (71.75 millimeters). The analysis of variance ANOVA of the non-parametric Mann-Kendall test reveals a strong correlation between Precipitation/evapotranspiration Grass (p mperature/evapotranspiration Grass (p emperature/Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (p in vegetation detected by the Breaks for Additive Season and Trend Algorithms were caused by temperature extremes and reduced rainfall.

Introduction: Shoulder dislocations represent about 50% of all joint dislocations. The objective was to describe the epidemiological, therapeutic and evolutionary aspects of traumatic shoulder dislocations in Bouaké. Methods: This retrospective and descriptive study was conducted between January 2017 and December 2019. It concerned patients over 15 years of age with a recent traumatic shoulder dislocation treated and followed in the department. The variables studied were epidemiological, therapeutic and evolutionary. The severity of the trauma was assessed according to the Injury Severity Score (ISS). Functional outcome was assessed according to the Constant score. Results: There were 49 patients (49 dislocations) out of 22,569 patients. The prevalence was 0.2%. The mean age was 32 years (17 - 62). There were 38 men (77.5%). The sex ratio was 3.4. Students predominated (n = 10;20.4%). The etiology was dominated by road traffic accidents (n = 19;38.8%). Anterior dislocation was the most common (n = 45;92%). The ISS score was minor (n = 46;93.8%). The mean time to reduction was 7 hours (4 - 16). Orthopaedic reduction using the Kocher technique predominated (n = 44;89.8%). The mean duration of external rotation immobilisation of the shoulder was 23 days (16 - 45). Recurrence occurred in 8 patients (21.6%). The functional outcome at a mean Constant follow-up of 15 months (8 - 20) was satisfactory (n = 44;89.8%). Conclusion: Traumatic dislocation of the shoulder represented 0.2%. Treatment was mainly orthopaedic. Recurrence was rare.

A new flavonoid, acacetin-7-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 → 2)-β-D-glucuronopyranoside (1), together with four known flavonoids, apigenin-7-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 → 2)-β-D-glucuronopyranoside (2), acacetin (3), acacetin-7-O-β-D-glucuronide (4) and genkwanin-5-O-primveroside (5) were isolated from the leaves of Glyphaea brevis. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic techniques. The isolated compounds (1 - 5) were tested for their antioxidant activity using the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging assay. The tested compounds showed slight negative antioxidant activities against DPPH radicals.

Background: Cytotoxic lesions of the corpus callosum (CLOCCs) represent a collection of disparate conditions that can cause a signal change in the corpus callosum, usually involving the splenium. CLOCCs is present in a variety of disorders, such as cerebral infarction, bleeding, multiple sclerosis, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, glioblastoma, lymphoma, metabolic diseases, and infections. Since 2020, World Health Organization (W.H.O) defined Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by SARS-CoV-2, as a pandemic. Numerous CLOCCs cases have been reported in adults in particular in Japan, in China, and recently in children in Turkey associated with SARS-CoV-2. We report the first case of CLOCCs diagnosed in West Africa (Côte d’Ivoire) in an adult associated with SARS-CoV-2. Case Report: A 60 year-old-woman with a medical history of high blood pressure and diabetes, presented to the emergency department with confusion without fever. Neurological examination was normal apart from temporospatial disorientation. Brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed abnormal signals in the splenium of the corpus callosum (SCC). Forty-eight hours (48 h) after admission, the patient experienced a fever (temperature: 385˚C), several episodes of hypoglycemia (capillary blood glycemia levels below 0.5 g/l) and a dry cough. Lung CT imaging showed typical features with ground-glass opacities. Oropharyngeal swab was positive for SARS-CoV-2 on reverse-transcriptase–polymerase-chain-reaction (RT-PCR) assay. The clinical course was favorable. One month after disease onset, a follow-up Brain MRI showed considerable regression of SCC abnormal signal. The multiple episodes of hypoglycemia and SARS-COV 2 infection were incriminated as the causal factors. Conclusion: The improvement of the technical platform in our context of work gives us the possibility to identify the etiological factors of this rare clinico-radiological entity.

Pervasive developmental disorders (PDD) remain little known to populations in developing countries. In black Africa their social representations remain strongly influenced by local belief systems. The general objective of this study was to understand the perceptions and representations of Ivorian parents vis-à-vis PDD. This was a mixed (qualitative and quantitative) prospective cross-sectional study with a descriptive aim that involved a sample of 49 parents. The sampling was of the qualitative type by multiple cases with reasoned choice by saturation. Our results showed that male parents were mostly aged between 40 - 49 years (48.98%) with a higher level of education (67.34%) while mothers were mostly aged between 30 - 39 (61.22%) and a higher level (30.61%). Autistic children were negatively perceived by their parents: either as a source of psychological suffering (82.85%), or as mysterious children who sacrificed their parents (44.66%), or as “bobo” children (mute children in common Ivorian language) (16.66%) or like rude children (13.34%). The supposed origin of the disorder according to the parents was mystical-religious (60.94%);natural (25%);hereditary (6.25%). In 6.25% of cases, PDD were assumed to be of unknown or iatrogenic origin attributable to vaccination (1.56%). 75.51% of parents said that in addition to conventional medical therapies, they also used traditional therapies. The use of this therapeutic alternative would be linked to the perceptions and beliefs that feed the socio-cultural representations of our respondents.

Litho-Structural and Geochemistry Analysis of Granitoids from Mount Fouimba and Goma in Seguela Area (Central-Western Côte d’Ivoire)

The petrogeochemical analysis of the granitoids of Mount Fouimba and Mount Goma in the Seguela region (central-western C?te d’Ivoire) is the subject of this study. This analysis combines remote sensing, geophysics, petrography and geochemistry, in order to determine the major characteristics of the granitoids in the study area, and above all to participate in the detailed mapping of all the Ivorian terrains. The granitoids encountered in this region are essentially two-mica granites, granodiorites and porphyry basalts. Chemical analysis indicates that these granitoids are of the ferrous and magnesian type with peraluminous to weakly metaluminous characteristics. They originate from the mantle and were emplaced in an active continental margin context.

Primary Hyperparathyroidism Revealed by Impaired Renal Function with Persistent elevation of Parathormon (PTH) and Normal Calcemia after Surgical Removal of the Parathyroid Adenoma

Introduction: The curative management of primary hyperparathyroidism is based on surgery. We report the case of a patient presenting with elevated parathormone despite surgical removal of the parathyroid adenoma. Observation: A 48-year-old patient presented for more than 6 months with significant weight loss, polyuria with polydipsia and impaired renal function. The assessment carried out revealed hypercalcaemia at 155 mg/L with hypophastetaemia at 24 mg/L and an elevation of the parathyroid hormone at 218.9 pg/ml. Cervical ultrasound showed a mass at the expense of the lower left parathyroid gland. These results made it possible to conclude primary hyperparathyroidism by parathyroid adenoma which was supported surgically. The postoperative biological assessment revealed a normocalcemia at 85 mg/L associated with an increase in parathormone (PTH) at 271.9 pg/ml. In front of the normalization of calcemia in the subsequent controls and the amendment of all the signs, monitoring was carried out. 9 months after surgery, spontaneous normalization of PTH was observed at 38.4 pg/ml with normal serum calcium at 90 mg/l. Discussion: Primary hyperparathyroidism can be revealed by other manifestations. Post-operative follow-up is generally simple with normalization of PTH and serum calcium. However, there may persist an elevation of PTH with normal self-limiting calcemia.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are strongly associated with agricultural, residential, transportation, industrial and petroleum activities. In this study, the presence of PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) was investigated in sediments of the ivory coastal zone (Toukouzou Hozalem-Assinie). The main objectives of this study were to determine the abundance and to predict the source of PAHs in the sediments. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was used to analyze sixteen priority PAHs. Total PAHs concentrations were from 1.31 to 3992.68 mg/kg in sediment with an average concentration of (307.54 ± 16.10) mg/kg. Among all PAHs, Naphthalene (Nap = 332.72 mg/kg) and Phenanthrene (Phe = 41.75 mg/kg) were found in the highest concentration, whereas Benzo (k) Fluoranthene was found in the least concentration in the range of 0 - 0.85 mg/kg (mean 0.24 mg/kg). Bassam-Modeste Lagune (BML) sampling site was the site with the highest concentration of total PAHs (all 16 PAHs) compared to the others due to their location in a highly populated estuary area that receives commercial, tourism, port, petroleum and heavy industrial activities. Diagnostic ratios were used to determine the sources of PAHs and suggested that the PAH profile in the sediments was dominated by 2 and 3 ring PAHs. The patterns of PAH compounds in sediment indicated that contamination is from mixed sources, with a strong indication of petrogenic contamination potentially from spills of fuel, oil and industrial activities.
