Towards adaptable and tunable cloud-based map-matching strategy for GPS trajectories

Smart cities have given a significant impetus to manage traffic and use transport networks in an intelligent way. For the above reason, intelligent transportation systems （ITSs） and location-based services （LBSs） have become an interesting research area over the last years. Due to the rapid increase of data volume within the transportation domain, cloud environment is of paramount importance for storing, accessing, handling, and processing such huge amounts of data. A large part of data within the transportation domain is produced in the form of Global Positioning System （GPS） data. Such a kind of data is usually infrequent and noisy and achieving the quality of real-time transport applications based on GPS is a difficult task. The map-matching process, which is responsible for the accurate alignment of observed GPS positions onto a road network, plays a pivotal role in many ITS applications. Regarding accuracy, the performance of a map-matching strategy is based on the shortest path between two consecutive observed GPS positions. On the other extreme, processing shortest path queries （SPQs） incurs high computational cost. Current map-matching techniques are approached with a fixed number of parameters, i.e., the number of candidate points （NCP） and error circle radius （ECR）, which may lead to uncertainty when identifying road segments and either low-accurate results or a large number of SPQs. Moreover, due to the sampling error, GPS data with a high-sampling period （i.e., less than 10 s） typically contains extraneous datum, which also incurs an extra number of SPQs. Due to the high computation cost incurred by SPQs, current map-matching strategies are not suitable for real-time processing. In this paper, we propose real-time map-matching （called RT-MM）, which is a fully adaptive map-matching strategy based on cloud to address the key challenge of SPQs in a map-matching process for real-time GPS trajectories. This paper describes the fundamentals of cloud computing and current big-data key technologies. We categorize big-da- ta processing as batch-based, stream-based, graph-based, DAG-based, interactive-based, or visual-based according to the processing technique. We highlight the strengths and weaknesses of various big-data cloud processing techniques in order to help the big-data community select the appropri- ate processing technique. We also provide big data research challenges and future directions in aspect to transportation management systems.

Conservation Laws for Partially Conservative Variable Mass Systems via d＇Alembert＇s Principle

Conservation laws for partially conservative variable mass dynamical systems under symmetric infinitesimal transformations are determined. A generalization of Lagrange-d ＇Alembert＇s principle for a variable mass system in terms of asynchronous virtual variation is presented. The generalized Killing equations are obtained such that their solution yields the transformations and the associated conservation laws. An example illusstrative of the theory is furnished at the end as well.

Nosocomial infections and their control strategies

Nosocomial infections are also known as hospital-acquired/associated infections. National Healthcare Safety Network along with Centers for Disease Control for surveillance has classified nosocomial infection sites into 13 types with 50 infection sites, which are specific on the basis of biological and clinical criteria. The agents that are usually involved in hospitalacquired infections include Streptococcus spp., Acinetobacter spp., enterococci, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, coagulase-negative staphylococci, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus cereus, Legionella and Enterobacteriaceae family members, namely, Proteus mirablis, Klebsiella pneumonia, Escherichia coli, Serratia marcescens. Nosocomial pathogens can be transmitted through person to person, environment or contaminated water and food, infected individuals, contaminated healthcare personnel's skin or contact via shared items and surfaces. Mainly, multi-drug-resistant nosocomial organisms include methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, vancomycin-resistant enterococci, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Klebsiella pneumonia, whereas Clostridium difficile shows natural resistance. Excessive and improper use of broadspectrum antibiotics, especially in healthcare settings, is elevating nosocomial infections, which not only becomes a big health care problem but also causes great economic and production loss in the community. Nosocomial infections can be controlled by measuring and comparing the infection rates within healthcare settings and sticking to the best healthcare practices. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provides the methodology for surveillance of nosocomial infections along with investigation of major outbreaks. By means of this surveillance, hospitals can devise a strategy comprising of infection control practices.

A novel {[bis（pyridine-κN）bis（3,5-dinitrosalicylato κ-O,O＇）Zn（Ⅱ）][bis（pyridine-κN）Zn（Ⅱ）]}（C_（34）H_（24）N_8O_（14）Zn_2） was synthesized by a self-assemble method at room temperature. The molecular structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray analysis. The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P2_1/n with a = 12.2156, b = 13.5696, c = 22.5602 A, β = 90.061o, Z = 4 and V = 3739.6（3）A^3. The new 1D binuclear coordination polymer {[bis（py-κN）bis（3,5-dinitrosal κ-O,O′） Zn（Ⅱ）][bis（py-κN）Zn（Ⅱ）]} resulted from two different types of moieties. The polymer [bis（py-κN）bis（3,5-dinitrosal κ-O,O′）Zn（Ⅱ）] unit is connected with [bis（py-κN） Zn（Ⅱ）] by zigzag topology. One zinc（Ⅱ） cation has a six-fold coordination environment, in which the metal atom is connected with four oxygen atoms of two 3,5-dinitrosalicylic acids to form equatorial bonds and two nitrogen atoms of pyridine to generate the axial bonds. Other four-fold nucleus contain two Zn-O bonds from different 3,5-dinitrosalicylic acids and two bonds with the Natom of pyridine. Antimicrobial assay results indicated that the compound showed moderate activities against different bacterial and fungal strains.

Nigella sativa protects against isoproterenol-induced myocardial infarction by alleviating oxidative stress,biochemical alterations and histological damage

Objective: To evaluate the cardioprotective effect of Nigella sativa L.(***) in isoproterenol-induced myocardial infarction(MI).Methods: Groups were treated with different doses of ethanol extract of ***(EENS)and *** oil alone and along with enalapril for 28 *** was induced by subcutaneous administration of isoproterenol(85 mg/kg) in two consecutive *** of cardiac biomarkers and antioxidant enzymes such as creatine kinase–N-acetyl-L-cysteine, lactate dehydrogenase, aspartate aminotransferase, malondialdehyde, superoxide dismutase, reduced glutathione and catalase were evaluated along with gross histopathological ***: Isoproterenol(85 mg/kg) induced MI by causing the significant(P < 0.01)reduction in the activity of cardiac biomarkers(creatine kinase–N-acetyl-L-cysteine,lactate dehydrogenase, aspartate aminotransferase) and antioxidant markers(superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione) along with significant(P < 0.01) increase in the level of ***, histopathological evaluation also confirmed the isoproterenol-induced *** with EENS(800 mg/kg) and combination of EENS(800 mg/kg) with enalapril(1 mg/kg) significantly(P < 0.01) prevented the development of these alteration and restored activity of cardiac biomarkers as well as antioxidant markers almost near to normal *** evaluation of cardiac tissue further confirmed the restoration of biochemical ***: Experimental findings thus indicate that EENS(800 mg/kg) demonstrated cardioprotective effect against isoproterenol-induced MI by restoring cardiac biomarkers and antioxidant status.

Effects of droplet size and spray interval on root-to-shoot ratio,photosynthesis efficiency,and nutritional quality of aeroponically grown butter head lettuce

The proper selection of the atomizer(droplet size)and nutrient solution spray interval is one of the most important factors to be investigated in aeroponics system for sustainable *** aim of this study was to research the effects of four aeroponics atomizing nozzles(one air-assisted;A_(1),two air-less;A_(2) and A_(3),and one ultrasonic fogger;A_(4))with droplet sizes of 11.24μm,26.35μm,17.38μm,and 4.89μm,respectively,four spray intervals(15 min(I_(1)),30 min(I_(2)),45 min(I_(3))and 60 min(I_(4)))at a 5 min of constant spray time by atomizing the Hoagland’s nutrient solution on growth,root-to-shoot ratio,photosynthesis characteristics,pigments,and nutritional quality of the aeroponically grown *** experimental results demonstrated that in A_(1) atomizer and I_(2) interval,the growth,photosynthesis efficiency,chlorophyll,carotenoids,and nutritional values of the lettuce were significantly higher compared to that grown in A_(2) and A_(3) atomizers at all spray *** shoot developments were more constrained than root,prominent to the alteration of root-to-shoot ratio(fresh and dry)in the influence of different droplet sizes and spray ***,the plants did not grow well in A_(4) atomizer associated with proposed spray *** results disclosed that there was an obvious interaction between droplet sizes(atomizers)and spray intervals for growth,the ratio of root to shoot,photosynthesis efficiency,pigments,and nutritional quality of the aeroponically grown *** research study increases the awareness of the proper droplet size(atomizer)and the regulation of nutrient solution spray interval for leafy vegetables grown in an aeroponics system.

Integration of Renewable Energy Resources in Microgrid

Microgrid is a new concept in power generation. The Microgrid concept assumes a cluster of loads and micro sources operating as a single controllable system that provides both power and heat to its local area. Not much is known about Microgrid behavior as a whole system. Some models exist which describe the components of a Microgrid. In this paper, model of Microgrids with steady state and their transient responses to changing inputs are presented. Current models of a fuel cell, microturbines, wind turbine and solar cell have been discussed. Finally a complete model built of Microgrid including the power sources, their power electronics, and a load and mains model in MATLAB/Simulink is presented.
