The applicability of hollow fiber liquid-phase microextraction (HF-LPME) combined with high-performance liquid chromatography-ultraviolet detection (HPLC-UV) was evaluated for the extraction and determination of tamoxifen (TAM) in biological fluids including human urine and plasma. The drug was extracted from a 15 mL aqueous sample (source phase;SP) into an organic phase impregnated in the pores of the hollow fiber (membrane phase;MP) followed by the back-extraction into a second aqueous solution (receiving phase;RP) located in the lumen of the hollow fiber. The effects of several factors such as the nature of organic solvent, compositions of SP and RP solutions, extraction time, ionic strength and stirring rate on the extraction efficiency were examined and optimized. An enrichment factor of 360 along with substantial sample clean up was obtained under the optimized conditions. The calibration curve showed linearity in the range of 1 - 500 ng?mL–1 and the limit of detection was found to be 0.5 ng?mL–1 in aqueous medium. A reasonable relative recovery (≥89%) and satisfactory intra-assay (3.7% - 4.2%, n = 3) and inter-assay (7.5% - 7.8%, n = 3) precision illustrated good performance of the analytical procedure in spiked human urine and plasma samples.

Let G = (V;E) be a simple connected graph. The sets of vertices and edges of G are denoted by V = V(G) and E = E(G), respectively. In such a simple molecular graph, vertices represent atoms and edges represent bonds. The Sanskruti index S(G) is a topological index was defined as where Su is the summation of degrees of all neighbors of vertex u in G. The goal of this paper is to compute the Sanskruti index for circumcoronene series of benzenoid.

AC / DC converter is a kind of devices applicable to reactive power compensation. Three parameters including losses, Total Harmonic Distortion （THD） and compensation capacity have important role in designing procedure that these parameters are affected by the firing angle. Consideration trade of between these parameters can cause be selected suitable firing angle for optimal working of the compensator. In this paper is defined an objective function which includes the above parameters. This objective function is optimized through appropriate weighting factor for any parameters and the optimal firing angle will be obtained. So, the mention parameters can be selected optimally.

The Incidence of Respiratory Distress Syndrome among Preterm Infants Admitted to Neonatal Intensive Care Unit: A Retrospective Study

Background: Respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) or hyaline membrane disease (HMD) is the most common cause of neonatal morbidity and mortality in preterm infants. We aimed to determine the frequency of RDS among 3 groups of preterm infants and the value of some related factors. Methods: A cross-sectional, descriptive analytical investigation was carried out in the NICU ward of Akbarabadi Hospital (Tehran-Iran) during spring 2011. Newborns’ data were collected and assessed by using their hospital medical records. Seventy-three preterm infants with gestational age < 34 weeks were hospitalized in the NICU. All participants were divided into 3 groups: extremely preterm (<28 weeks), very preterm (28 to <32 weeks) and moderate preterm (32 to 34 weeks). Frequency of RDS and some related factors were compared among 3 groups. Results: RDS was observed in 65.6% of all participants;however frequency of RDS was not different between three groups. An inversely correlation was found between gestational age and mortality rate (p = 0.05). In regard to Betamethasone administration prior to birth, this interval was significantly longer in alive neonates in comparison to infants who died (p < 0.05). Conclusion: RDS was frequent in preterm neonates with gestational age < 32 weeks. Time of Betamethasone administration prior to birth can significantly influence on neonatal mortality rate.

Comprehensive untargeted and targeted analysis of root exudate composition has advanced our understanding of rhizosphere ***,little is known about exudate spatial distribution and *** studied the specific metabolite signatures of asparagus root exudates,root outer(epidermis and exodermis),and root inner tissues(cortex and vasculature).The greatest differences were found between exudates and root *** total,263 non-redundant metabolites were identified as significantly differentially abundant between the three root fractions,with the majority being enriched in the root exudate and/or outer tissue and annotated as‘lipids and lipid-like molecules’or‘phenylpropanoids and polyketides’.Spatial distribution was verified for three selected compounds using MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry ***-specific proteome analysis related root tissue-specific metabolite distributions and rhizodeposition with underlying biosynthetic pathways and transport *** proteomes of root outer and inner tissues were spatially very distinct,in agreement with the fundamental differences between their functions and *** to KEGG pathway analysis,the outer tissue proteome was characterized by a high abundance of proteins related to‘lipid metabolism’,‘biosynthesis of other secondary metabolites’and‘transport and catabolism’,reflecting its main functions of providing a hydrophobic barrier,secreting secondary metabolites,and mediating water and nutrient *** more abundant in the inner tissue related to‘transcription’,‘translation’and‘folding,sorting and degradation’,in accord with the high activity of cortical and vasculature cell layers in growth-and development-related *** summary,asparagus root fractions accumulate specific *** expands our knowledge of tissue-specific plant cell function.

Let G = (V,E) be a graph, where V(G) is a non-empty set of vertices and E(G) is a set of edges, e = uv∈E(G), d(u) is degree of vertex u. Then the first Zagreb polynomial and the first Zagreb index Zg1(G,x) and Zg1(G) of the graph G are defined as Σuv∈E(G)x(du+dv) and Σe=uv∈E(G)(du+dv) respectively. Recently Ghorbani and Hosseinzadeh introduced the first Eccentric Zagreb index as Zg1*=Σuv∈E(G)(ecc(v)+ecc(u)), that ecc(u) is the largest distance between u and any other vertex v of G. In this paper, we compute this new index (the first Eccentric Zagreb index or third Zagreb index) of an infinite family of linear Polycene parallelogram of benzenoid.

Effects of AIDS-related disability on workforce participation and earned income in Botswana: A quasi-experimental evaluation

Background: Botswana is regarded as a leader of progressive HIV/AIDS policy, as the first country in sub-Saharan Africa to establish a free, national antiretroviral therapy program. In light of such programmatic successes, it is important to evaluate the potentially changing relationship of HIV/AIDS to the wellbeing of individuals, households, and institutions in the country. Methods: We evaluate the effects of HIV-related illness on absenteeism and earnings several years after the start of the national treatment program among a random sample of adults in Botswana using survey data from 3999 individuals aged 15 to 49, using quasi-experimental methods. We compare absenteeism between individuals with and without HIV-related illness, using a propensity score matching approach. We then estimate the effect of HIV-related illness on earnings using a Heckman selection model to account for selection into the workforce. We stratify our analyses by sex. Results: Men and women with HIV-related illness were absent by about 5.2 and 3.3 additional days, respectively, in the month prior to the survey compared to matched controls, and earned approximately 38% and 43% less, respectively, in the month prior to the survey compared to those without HIV-related illness. Conclusions: HIV-related illness appears to increase absenteeism in this sample and dramatically reduce earnings. The findings suggest a need for policies that confer greater financial security to individuals with HIV/AIDS in Botswana.

加速老化试验被广泛地应用到电动机和发电机绝缘系统中，在一段很短的时间内模拟正常的长期运行条件下可能出现的劣化机理，来确定具有较长寿命周期的绝缘系统设计，也是新绝缘体系的质量评定试验。本文介绍了VPI电机耐热等级为F级（155℃）的两种绝缘系统（参考和备选）的大量试验研究结果，系统在三种热应力下经历了重复周期的热负荷超限试验。每个热负荷周期后绝缘系统还要进行机械应力、潮湿和耐电压试验。为了以非破坏性的方式检查绝缘系统的状态，每个热负荷周期后进行几项绝缘性能测试，如：介质损耗因数、绝缘电阻和局部放电量，此后还要进行交流耐电压和冲击电压试验来考验绝缘系统寿命极限。这些试验结果为质量评定提供了支持依据，同时也反映了绝缘系统电气和介电性能在加速老化试验中的变化过程。
