BACKGROUND Patients with diabetes mellitus(DM)are predisposed to an increased risk of infection signifying the importance of vaccination to protect against its potentially severe *** Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices(CDC/ACIP)issued immunization recommendations to protect this patient *** To assess the adherence of patients with DM to the CDC/ACIP immunization recommendations in saudi Arabia and to identify the factors associated with the vaccine adherence *** An observational retrospective study conducted in 2023 was used to collect data on the vaccination records from 13 diabetes care centers in saudi Arabia with 1000 eligible patients in phase I with data collected through chart review and 709 patients in phase II through online *** Among participants,10.01%(n=71)had never received any vaccine,while 85.89%(n=609)received at least one dose of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)vaccine,and 34.83%(n=247)had received the annual influenza *** 2.96%(n=21),2.11%(n=15),and 1.12%(n=8)received herpes zoster,tetanus,diphtheria,and pertussis(Tdap),and human papillomavirus(HPV)vaccines,*** patients with DM in saudi Arabia,the rate of vaccination for annual influenza and COVID-19 vaccines was higher compared to other vaccinations such as herpes zoster,Tdap,pneumococcal,and *** such as vaccine recommendations provided by family physicians or specialists,site of care,income level,DM-related hospitalization history,residency site,hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c)level,and health sector type can significantly influence the vaccination rate in patients with *** non-vaccinated patients with DM,the most reported barriers were lack of knowledge and fear of side *** signifies the need for large-scale research in this area to identify additional factors that might facilitate adherence to CDC/ACIP vaccine recommendations in patients with *** In s

Pregnancy Outcomes in Pregnant Patients with COVID-19: A Multicenter study

Introduction: Acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (sARs-CoV-2) was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) on March 11, 2020. The presence of COVID-19 in a pregnant patient can raise concerns, as other types of coronaviruses were associated with many adverse outcomes. This study aims to study the effect of COVID-19 on pregnancy outcomes. Methods: A prospective cross-sectional cohort study within Central First Health Care Cluster (multicentric), Riyadh, included all pregnant women with a singleton pregnancy diagnosed as COVID-19-positive. The primary outcome is the severity of COVID during pregnancy in terms of ICU admission and mortality. The participants were divided into three groups (preterm less than 37 weeks, the term from 37 - 40 weeks, and late-term after 40 weeks. In addition, parameters included: Gestational age at diagnosis, symptoms at presentation (cough, fever), presence of congenital anomalies, IUFD, mode of delivery, presence of PPH, newborn Apgar score, cord PH, need for NICU admission, and the newborn becoming infected with COVID-19 were also measured as secondary outcomes. Results: One hundred pregnant, COVID-19-positive women met the inclusion criteria;the average age of participants was 31.2 years (sD ± 6.4). Asymptomatic patients represented 54% of participants. Most of the deliveries occurred at 36 weeks or less as preterm delivery. Cesarean sections represented 55% of our population. Four-term mothers (12.5%), more than 37 weeks, need ICU admission compared to 13 (25%) preterm cases diagnosed with preeclampsia. No maternal death. Conclusion: COVID-19 during pregnancy can increase ICU admission. A high rate of preterm labor, miscarriage, cesarean section, and newborn testing positive for COVID-19 were observed among our population. No congenital anomalies related to COVID-19 were observed.

Quality assessment of intraoperative frozen sections: An analysis of 261 consecutive cases in a resource limited area: Morocco

Purpose: To evaluate the accuracy and limits of a frozen section analysis in our department in order to develop a quality control. Materials and methods: all frozen sections reported at our department between 1st January 2010 and 31st December 2010, have been retrospectively evaluated. The frozen section results were compared to permanent paraffin section results. Results: Frozen sections and final diagnosis agreed in 95% and disagreed in 5% (13 cases), 6.6% of the cases were deferred (17 cases). The most common pathological processes encountered were presence/typing of neoplasm (85.4%) and assessment of surgical margins (7.3%). Conclusion: The accuracy of frozen sections diagnosis at our department can be interpreted as comparable with the most international quality control series and is valuable to assist surgeons in their decision.

A New Navigation Force Model for the Earth’s Albedo and Its Effects on the Orbital Motion of an Artificial satellite

In this paper, we developed a new approach of an analytical model to calculate the radial and transversal components of the acceleration due to the effects of Earth’s albedo. Its effects on the orbital motion of an artificial satellite are introduced. It is assumed that the satellite’s horizon is illuminated and the sun lies on the equator. The magnitudes of those components are obtained and their effects on orbital evolution have been tested for different satellites elements. The perturbations in orbital elements due to Earth’s albedo have been obtained using Lagrange Planetary equation in Gaussian form, in particular the case of LAGEOs satellite, have been found using this new analytical formalism.

Lissajous Orbits at the Collinear Libration Points in the Restricted Three-Body Problem with Oblateness

In the present work, the collinear equilibrium points of the restricted three-body problem are studied under the effect of oblateness of the bigger primary using an analytical and numerical approach. The periodic orbits around these points are investigated for the Earth-Moon system. The Lissajous orbits and the phase spaces are obtained under the effect of oblateness.

Liponeurocytoma of the Cerebellum with Myoid Features

We report an extremely rare tumor presenting with myoid features in the left cerebellum lobe in a 62-year-old man. This tumor consisted of medium to large round cells with focal lipomatous and myoid differentiation. Immunohistochemically, the tumor cells expressed synaptophysin, GFAP (glial fibrillary acidic protein) and focally desmin. From these findings, we concluded that this tumor was a liponeurocytoma with myoid features. To our knowledge, this is the second report of liponeurocytoma with myoid differentiation in the cerebellum.

Respiratory epithelial adenomatoid hamartoma (REAH) is an uncommon lesion of the upper aerodigestive tract first described by Wenig and Heffner in 1995 as prominent glandular proliferations lined by ciliated respiratory epithelium originating from the surface epithelium. Case Report: We report a case of 48-year-old women with nasal polyposis history, which consults for nasal obstruction, with suspicion of malignancy on CT. surgical resection showed a respiratory epithelial adenomatoid hamartoma (REAH) of the nasal cavity. Conclusion: REAH is a recently described pathologic entity that can present rhinorrhea, epistaxis, hyposmia, and headaches. It is a rare lesion of nasal and paranasal sinuses, but should be considered in the differential diagnosis because it is a benign lesion and complete surgical resection is curative.

In this report, we present a case of a malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (MPNsT) of the scalp and retrospectively analyze the clinical features, imaging findings, pathological features, and prognoses of these tumors.

Molecular Characterization on the Early Developmental stages of the Egyptian Toad <i>Bufo regularis</i>Reuss

The present study aimed to investigate changes in the protein contents using sDs-PAGE, also using the random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD-PCR) assay to identify changes in DNA concentration in the embryos of Egyptian toad Bufo regularis. Our experiment started when tadpoles began to feed. The adapted embryos were divided into 3 large tanks of 200 embryos each, collections of samples started from feeding age every three days. Cluster method was used to indicate the distinct distance between the band patterns of different stages. An increase occurred in the concentration of protein fractions in these tadpoles upon metamorphosis and that when metamorphosis was completed. DNA concentration exhibited an evident low values at the premetamorphic stage 44 (105.85 ± 0.519 ng/μl) compared with the other more advanced developmental stages 55 and 56 (204.056 ± 0.651 ng/μl and 234.55 ± 2.325 ng/μl respectively). In conclusion, acquire information about the changes in the molecular content of Bufo regularis during metamorphosis has been estimated.

The present study was carried out to investigate the histological and histochemical changes in the liver and skin on different developmental stages of Egyptian toad Bufo regularis to be used as a histological key for such species. Our experiment started when tadpoles began to feed. The adapted embryos are divided into 3 large tanks of 200 embryos each, collections of samples started from feeding age every three days. Both histological and histochemical results showed that the general architecture of the different organs was correlated with the state of development, i.e. larval, met-amorphic and post-metamorphic. They, therefore, displayed different characteristic features de-pending on the investigated developmental stage starting from the larval stage (stage 44) and ending with the post-metamorphic stage 66.
