Defocus blur detection using novel local directional mean patterns(LDMP)and segmentation via KNN matting

Detection and segmentation of defocus blur is a challenging task in digital imaging applications as the blurry images comprise of blur and sharp regions that wrap significant information and require effective methods for information *** defocus blur detection and segmentation methods have several limitations i.e.,discriminating sharp smooth and blurred smooth regions,low recognition rate in noisy images,and high computational cost without having any prior knowledge of images i.e.,blur degree and camera ***,there exists a dire need to develop an effective method for defocus blur detection,and segmentation robust to the above-mentioned *** paper presents a novel features descriptor local directional mean patterns(LDMP)for defocus blur detection and employ KNN matting over the detected LDMP-Trimap for the robust segmentation of sharp and blur *** argue/hypothesize that most of the image fields located in blurry regions have significantly less specific local patterns than those in the sharp regions,therefore,proposed LDMP features descriptor should reliably detect the defocus blurred *** fusion of LDMP features with KNN matting provides superior performance in terms of obtaining high-quality segmented regions in the ***,the proposed LDMP features descriptor is robust to noise and successfully detects defocus blur in high-dense noisy *** results on Shi and Zhao datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in terms of defocus blur *** and comparative analysis signify that our method achieves superior segmentation performance and low computational cost of 15 seconds.

REE geochemistry of core sediments of Cauvery delta,India for provenance studies

The rare earth element(REE)geochemical composition of sediments from two cores were used to investigate the provenances of the Late Pleistocene to Holocene sediments of Cauvery delta,South *** chondrite-normalized REE patterns and bi-variant plots of Th/Co ***/Sc and La/Th ***/Yb indicated felsic source of ***-normalized plots of REE in both cores are almost parallel and exhibit similar fractionation ratio(Ce/Yb)_N of^***,persistence in REEs patterns implies either uniform source rocks and/or efficient homogenization of sediments during transportation and ***-normalized patterns of the samples show enrichment of light rare earth elements and flat pattern of heavy rare earth elements;such patterns imply dominance of felsic composition rocks in the ***,these samples show quite resemblance with Charnockites and Gneisses of Palani and Kodaikanal hill ***-normalized REE patterns of the Pleistocene sediments of Uttrangudi core show similar abundance,fractionation,and Eu anomaly values as of selected samples from Tertiary rocks near southwest part of the *** attribute the increased input from this region to the upliftment because of tectonic activity and lowering of sea level during the Pleistocene.

Progressive events in supervisory control and compositional verification

This paper investigates some limitations of the nonblocking property when used for supervisor synthesis in discrete event systems. It is shown that there are cases where synthesis with the nonblocking property gives undesired results. To address such cases, the paper introduces progressive events as a means to specify more precisely how a synthesised supervisor should complete its tasks. The nonblocking property is modified to take progressive events into account, and appropriate methods for verification and synthesis are proposed. Experiments show that progressive events can be used in the analysis of industrial-scale systems, and can expose issues that remain undetected by standard nonblocking verification.

Dynamic Flow Control Strategies of Vehicle SCR Urea Dosing System

Selective Catalyst Reduction（SCR）Urea Dosing System（UDS）directly affects the system accuracy and the dynamic response performance of a ***,the UDS dynamic response is hard to keep up with the changes of the engine＇s operating *** will lead to low NO_χconversion efficiency or NH_3 *** order to optimize the injection accuracy and the response speed of the UDS in dynamic conditions,an advanced control strategy based on an air-assisted volumetric UDS is *** covers the methods of flow compensation and switching working *** strategy is authenticated on an UDS and tested in different dynamic *** result shows that the control strategy discussed results in higher dynamic accuracy and faster dynamic response speed of *** inject deviation range is improved from being between-8%and 10%to-4%and 2%and became more stable than before,and the dynamic response time was shortened from 200 ms to 150 *** ETC cycle result shows that after using the new strategy the NH_3 emission is reduced by 60%,and the NO_χemission remains almost *** trade-off between NO_χconversion efficiency and NH_3 slip is *** studied flow compensation and switching working conditions can improve the dynamic performance of the UDS significantly and make the UDS dynamic response keep up with the changes of the engine＇s operating conditions quickly.

Searching images fromthe large image databases is one of the potential research areas of multimedia *** most challenging task for nay CBIR system is to capture the high level semantic of *** researchers of multimedia domain are trying to fix this issue with the help of Relevance Feedback(RF).However existing RF based approaches needs a number of iteration to fulfill user’s *** paper proposed a novel methodology to achieve better results in early iteration to reduce the user interaction with the *** previous research work it is reported that SVM based RF approach generating better results for ***,this paper focused on SVM based RF *** enhance the performance of SVM based RF approach this research work applied Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO)and Genetic Algorithm(GA)before applying SVM on user *** main objective of using thesemeta-heuristic was to increase the positive image sample size from *** steps PSO is applied by incorporating the user feedback and secondly GA is applied on the result generated through PSO,finally SVM is applied using the positive sample generated through *** proposed technique is named as Particle Swarm Optimization Genetic Algorithm-Support Vector Machine Relevance Feedback(PSO-G A-SVMRF).Precisions,recall and F-score are used as performance metrics for the assessment and validation of PSO-GA-SVM-RF approach and experiments are conducted on coral image dataset having 10908 *** experimental results it is proved that PSO-GA-SVM-RF approach outperformed then various well known CBIR approaches.

Downstream Decreasing Channel Capacity of a Monsoon-dominated Bengal Basin River: A Case Study of Dwarkeswar River, Eastern India

Downstream changes in channel morphology and flow over the ephemeral Dwarkeswar River in the western part of the Bengal Basin, eastren India were investigated. The river stretches from the Proterozoic Granite Gneiss Complex to the recent Holocene alluvium, forming three distinctive geomorphological regions across the river basin: the pediplane and upper and lower alluvial areas. Sixty cross-sections from throughout the main trunk stream were surveyed and the bankfull width, depth, cross-sectional area, and maximum depth were measured. Sediment samples from each location were studied and the flow velocity, stream power, Manning’s roughness coefficient, and shear stress were estimated. The results show that the bankfull channel cross-section area, width, width-to-depth ratio, and channel capacity increased between the beginning and middle of the river. Thereafter, the size of the river started to decrease in the lower alluvial area. This was characterized by gentle gradients, cohesive bank materials with grass cover, and channel switching. Within the lower part of the river, the channel capacity was observed to diminish as the drainage area increased. This increased the bankfull flow frequency and accelerated large floodwater losses in the floodplain via overbank flows and floodways.

One of the challenging problems with evolutionary computing algorithms is to maintain the balance between exploration and exploitation capability in order to search global optima.A novel convergence track based adaptive differential evolution(CTbADE)algorithm is presented in this research *** crossover rate and mutation probability parameters in a differential evolution algorithm have a significant role in searching global optima.A more diverse population improves the global searching capability and helps to escape from the local optima *** the convergence path over time helps enhance the searching speed of a differential evolution algorithm for varying *** adaptive powerful parameter-controlled sequences utilized learning period-based memory and following convergence track over time are introduced in this *** proposed algorithm will be helpful in maintaining the equilibrium between an algorithm’s exploration and exploitation capability.A comprehensive test suite of standard benchmark problems with different natures,i.e.,unimodal/multimodal and separable/non-separable,was used to test the convergence power of the proposed CTbADE *** results show the significant performance of the CTbADE algorithm in terms of average fitness,solution quality,and convergence speed when compared with standard differential evolution algorithms and a few other commonly used state-of-the-art algorithms,such as jDE,CoDE,and EPSDE *** algorithm will prove to be a significant addition to the literature in order to solve real time problems and to optimize computationalmodels with a high number of parameters to adjust during the problem-solving process.

Nano Fluid Flow Analysis in the Presence of Slip Effects and Wall Properties by Means of Contraction and Expansion

The present article is a study of mixed convective peristaltic flow of Cu-blood nanofluid confined in a non-uniform tube along with the velocity slip conditions and wall properties. Endoscopic or catheterized special effects are also taken into description. Upon utilization of the large wavelength and small reynolds number approximation, the non-dimensional governing differential equation took a more simplified form, which is then solved for the exact ***, these outcomes are offered graphically and are debated in detail. Velocity profile for pure blood as well as Cu-blood and no-slip and slip effects are also discussed separately. Streamlines pattern is also discussed for different physical parameters.
