The application of fungal biotechnology for nutrient value addition and improvement of agro-industrial wastes is critical in the development of protein-rich feed for *** study evaluated conventional methods for protein enrichment of cassava peels by solid substrate fermentation using mono-and co-cultures of Aspergillus niger and Trichoderma *** and non-sterile cassava peels inoculated with mono-cultures of *** or *** and co-cultures of *** and *** were spontaneously fermented for 21 days at 24℃.Fermented substrates were harvested at 0,7,14,and 21 days intervals,then oven-dried at 60℃,milled in a blender and further assayed for ash,carbohydrate,crude fibre,fat,and protein *** showed that percentage increase in protein contents after 21 days incubation of sterile cassava peels were 71.02%(for mono-culture of ***)and 71.64%(for mono-culture of ***);co-culture of *** and *** yielded a 129.00%increase in *** percentage increase in protein content of the non-sterile cassava peels was 126.80%(for mono-culture of ***)and 168.34%(for mono-culture of ***)in contrast with 63.47%obtained for the co-culture of *** and *** in non-sterile cassava peels,which was attributable to possible antibiosis due to microbial *** content significantly(p≤0.05)increased for 21 days while carbohydrate,crude fibre and fat contents in both sterile and non-sterile cassava peels decreased over the same *** findings underscore the fact that protein content of cassava peels can be significantly(p≤0.05)enriched through fungal biotechnology to produce value-added feed supplement for *** practical implications of these findings are discussed.

This study is to assess the biotechnological potential of agro-industrial wastes of pineapple(Ananas comosus),sweet potato(Ipomoea batatas)and watermelon(Citrullus lanatus)for protein enrichment by solid-state fermentation using Aspergillus *** suspensions of *** were prepared with potato dextrose broth that had been supplemented with sodium chloride,ammonium nitrate and thiamine,and adjusted to pH of *** protein contents of sterile and non-sterile wastes of the pineapple,sweet potato,and watermelon were determined by the Kjeldahl *** remaining sterile and non-sterile wastes was inoculated with spore suspensions of *** and incubated at temperature of 24℃ under conditions of solid-state fermentation for 14 *** contents of the inoculated sterile and non-sterile wastes were determined after 7 and 14 *** sterile wastes of pineapple,sweet potato and watermelon recorded initial percentage protein contents of 4.37,4.39,and 10.89,respectively,whereas their corresponding non-sterile wastes recorded initial percentage protein contents of 3.76,4.00,and 10.16,*** results further show that percentage increase in protein content of sterile wastes after 14 days of fermentation were pineapple,35.01%;sweet potato,27.60%;and watermelon,64.40%.Percentage increase in protein content of non-sterile wastes after 14 days of fermentation were pineapple,72.34%;sweet potato,85.25%;and watermelon,80.51%.These findings affirm the biotechnological potential of pineapple,sweet potato and watermelon wastes and the importance of fungi as agents for protein enrichment of agro-industrial wastes.

Internal States of Temperature Hysteresis in Shape Memory Alloys

We propose a thermodynamic theory that permits us to connect the size of the temperature hysteresis loop to the interfacial energy between martensite and austenite. The free energy is a function of four variables, viz. deformation of austenite, deformation of martensite, phase fraction and temperature. A diagonal line inside the hysteresis loop in the deformation-temperature diagram is identified as the line of unstable phase equilibrium. Upon reaching this line the phase mixture loses its (meta-)stability, and the transformation from one phase to the other should occur. The theoretical results are supported by experiments on NiTi and CuAlNi specimens.

Electrochemical characterization of Ni-Co and Ni-Co-Fe for oxidation of methyl alcohol fuel with high energetic catalytic surface

Non Pt based metals and alloys as electrode materials for methyl alcohol fuel cells have been investigated w ith an aim of finding high electrocatalytic surface property for the faster electrode *** w ere fabricated by electrodeposition on pure Al foil,from an electrolyte of Ni,Co,Fe *** optimum condition of electrodeposition w ere found out by a series of experiments,varying the chemistry of the electrolyte,pH valve,temperature,current and cell *** study of the coated Ni-Co or Ni-CoFe alloy on pure Al w as found to exhibit high exchange current density,indicating an improved electro catalytic surface w ith faster charge-discharge reactions at anode and cathode and low *** impedance studies on coated and uncoated surface clearly show ed that the polarization resistance and impedance w ere decreased by Ni-Co or Ni-Co-Fe coating.X-ray diffraction(XRD),energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX)and atomic absorption spectroscopy(AAS)studies confirmed the presence of alloying elements and constituents of the *** morphology of the deposits from scanning electron microscope(SEM)images indicated that the electrode surface w as a three dimensional space w hich increased the effective surface area for the electrode reactions to take place.

Microstructure, Impact Toughness and TEM Analysis in the CGHAZ of HQ130 High Strength Steel

Microstructure and impact toughness in the coarse grain heat-affected zone (CGHAZ) of HQ130 high strength steel were studied by using the weld thermo-simulation test. Fracture morphology and fine structure in the CGHAZ were analyzed by means of SEM, TEM and electron diffraction. Experimental results indicated that the impact toughness and hardness in the CGHAZ (T-m = 1350 degrees C) decreased with increasing cooling time (t(8/5)), and fracture morphology changed from dimple fracture into cleavage fracture. The reason for the toughness decrease is the formation of upper bainite. During application, the welding heat input should be strictly limited, to reduce brittleness in the CGHAZ of HQ130 steel.

Noether symmetry of the F(R)theory of gravity in a vacuum and in the presence of pressureless dust yields F(R)∝R^(3/2) along with the conserved current d/dt(a√R)in the Robertson-Walker metric and nothing ***,some authors recently claimed to have obtained four conserved currents setting F(R)∝R^(3/2) a-priori,taking time translation along with a gauge *** show that the first one of these does not satisfy the field equations and the second one is the Hamiltonian which is constrained to vanish in gravity and thus a part and parcel of the field *** also show that the other two conserved currents,which do not contain time translation,are the same in disguise and identical to the one mentioned *** the claim is wrong.

Interfacial instability of sand patterns induced by turbulent shear flow

When a turbulent shear flow above a plane sand surface entrains sand grains, it generates a variety of sand patterns. Fluvial sand forms two major interfacial patterns: meso-scale dunes and antidunes, and large-scale bars. Measurements have evidenced that under erosive conditions, meso-scale patterns either change to or coexist with large-scale patterns. However, it remains elusive what exactly drives the switching of interfacial patterns and how the switching occurs. Here, we showdcombing a flow model with a grain transport model, allowing for both the surface and suspended sand fluxes dthat the switching of patterns emerges from the shear-driven complex feedback between grain transport and topographic perturbations. The switching predominantly depends on the magnitudes of the Rouse number and the grain size to undisturbed flow depth ratio. The model offers quantitative predictions of the maximum amplification of sand patterns and unveils a new attraction erepulsion phenomenon.
