Laparoscopic resection of primary retroperitoneal schwannoma:A case report

BACKGROUND Schwannomas are rare,often benign,tumors deriving from Schwann cells that have low incidence in the retroperitoneal region(0.5%to 5%).Their diagnosis is hardly confirmed at early stage due to lack of specific features in signs,symptoms and imaging ***,it is necessary performing guided punch biopsy in order to identify *** removal is the treatment of choice due to its low sensitivity to radiation and *** SUMMARY Forty-seven years old female patient who was hospitalized for elective orthopedic procedure,without complications,evolved with severe pain in the lower limbs,thigh and gluteal region associated with neurogenic *** pain required magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)of the lumbar spine,which showed epidural collection with dural compression and massive heterogeneous perihepatic nodular *** surgical team opted for draining the collection,as well as requested an MRI of the abdomen and pelvis,whose analysis showed expansive lesion in the retroperitoneum,in close contact with the inferior vena cava and with the right renal vein.A guided puncture was performed for diagnostic clarification,which showed immunohistochemical profile compatible with *** selected treatment comprised retroperitoneum tumor resection in association with laparoscopic *** patient was discharged and remained stable after 4-mo follow-up;she remains under followup to check the need of cancer *** Schwannoma features requires surgical treatment based on laparoscopic resection,which often presents low relapse rates and optimistic prognosis.

Time- and temperature-dependence of compressive and tensile behaviors of polypropylene fiber-reinforced cemented paste backfill

The understanding of compressive and tensile behaviors of polypropylene fiber-reinforced cemented paste backfill(FR-CpB)play crucial roles in the successful implementation of reinforcement technique in underground mine backfilling ***,very limited studies have been performed to gain insight into the evolution of compressive and tensile behaviors and associated mechanical properties of FR-CpB under various curing temperatures from early to advanced ***,this study aims to investigate the time(7,28,and 90 d)-and temperature(20°C,35°C,and 45°C)-dependence of constitutive behavior and mechanical properties of *** obtained results show that pre-and post-failure behaviors of FR-CpB demonstrate strongly curing temperature-dependence from early to advanced ***,the pseudo-hardening behavior is sensitive to curing temperature,especially at early ***,the mechanical properties including elastic modulus,material stiffness,strengths,brittleness,cohesion,and internal friction angle of FR-CpB show increasing trends with curing temperature as curing time ***,a predictive model is developed to capture the strong correlation between compressive and tensile strength of *** findings of this study will contribute to the successful implementation of FR-CpB technology.

Resveratrol attenuates metabolic,sperm,and testicular changes in adult Wistar rats fed a diet rich in lipids and simple carbohydrates

High-fat diets affect male reproduction and sexual ***,we evaluated the effects of prolonged resveratrol administration on the metabolic,sperm,and testicular parameters of rats fed a cafeteria *** Wistar rats were divided at weaning into control(Cv n=20)and cafeteria(CAF,n=16)*** 3 months,half of them were given daily supplementations of resveratrol(C-R,n=10;CAF-R,n=8)at a dosage of 30 mg kg-1 body mass for 2 *** were killed at 5 months of age,and blood,spermatozoa,and testes were collected for further *** were analyzed by one-way ANOVA,and ppromoted hyperglycemia(ppperm viability and motility,while resveratrol improved these parameters(Fphology,the height of the seminiferous epithelium was reduced in the CAF group compared with that of the C group(p=0.0007).Spermatogenic cell proliferation was also reduced in the CAF group compared with that of the C ***,the CAF-R showed an increase in cell proliferation rate compared with that of the untreated CAF group(p=0.0024).Although it did not modify body mass,the consumption of a CAF diet promoted hyperglycemia,adverse testicular morphology remodeling,and abnormal sperm,which were attenuated by treatment with resveratrol,thus suggesting a protective effect of this antioxidant on spermatogenesis.

The chronic shortage of organs and tissues for transplantation represents a dramatic burden on healthcare systems *** engineering offers a potential solution to address these shortages,but several challenges remain,with prevascularization being a critical factor for in vivo survival and integration of tissue engineering ***,a different challenge hindering the clinical implementation of such products,regards their efficient preservation from the fabrication site to the *** has emerged as a potential solution for this issue due to its milder effects on biologic systems in comparison with other cold preservation *** impact on prevascularization,however,has not been well *** this work,3D prevascularized constructs were fabricated using adipose-derived stromal vascular fraction cells and preserved at 4◦C using Hypothermosol or basal culture media(α-MEM).Hypothermosol efficiently preserved the structural and cellular integrity of prevascular networks as compared to constructs before *** contrast,the use ofα-MEM led to a clear reduction in prevascular structures,with concurrent induction of high levels of apoptosis and autophagy at the cellular *** vivo evaluation using a chorioallantoic membrane model demonstrated that,in opposition toα-MEM,Hypothermosol preservation retained the angiogenic potential of constructs before preservation by recruiting a similar number of blood vessels from the host and presenting similar integration with host *** results emphasize the need of studying the impact of preservation techniques on key properties of tissue engineering constructs such as prevascularization,in order to validate and streamline their clinical application.

Defensive pressure affects basketball technical actions but not the time-motion variables

Background: Novel player tracking technologies can change the understanding of performance determinants in team sports by allowing to accurately measuring the activity demands. The aim of this study was to identify how the defensive pressure affects the time-motion variables and the technical actions in ***: Twenty international male players(age: 16.05 ± 2.09 years, weight: 73.13 ± 8.10 kg, height: 183.10 ± 5.88 cm) played two 10 min basketball quarters, where they used a man-to-man 1/4-court defense until the 4th min(F1/4), changed to man-to-man full court(FULL) for 3 min and, from the 7th to the 10 th min returned to 1/4-court defense(S1/4). A computerized notational analysis was performed using Simi Scout and positional data were captured with the Ubisense Real Time Location System(mean sampling rate 3.74 ± 0.45 Hz per transmitter/player).Results: The time-motion variables presented similar results between defensive conditions, showing a total distance covered around 90 m/***, results suggested possible vertical jump impairments in S1/4 periods. There was more distance covered while jogging in the offensive court(38.15 ± 12.17 m/min offensive court vs. 32.94 ± 10.84 m/min defensive court, p p prove task representativeness during specific conditioning or game-based training situations and also to help coaches' strategic decisions during the games.

Virtual Reality Used in the Lighting System Management of a Building

The first component of a building implemented in a virtual prototype concerning the management of a building is a lighting system. It was applied in a study case. The interactive application allows the examination of the physical model, visualizing, for each element modeled in three-dimensions （3D） and linked to a database, the corresponding technical information concerned with the use of the material, calculated for different points in time during their life. The control of a lamp stock, the constant updating of lifetime information and the planning of periodical local inspections are attended on the prototype. This is an important mean of cooperation between collaborators involved in the building management.

Using Luhn’s Automatic Abstract Method to Create Graphs of Words for Document Visualization

Visualization methods for single documents are either too simple, considering word frequency only, or depend on syntactic and semantic information bases to be more useful. This paper presents an intermediary approach, based on H. p. Luhn’s automatic abstract creation algorithm, and intends to aggregate more information to document visualization than word counting methods do without the need of external sources. The method takes pairs of relevant words and computes the linkage force between them. Relevant words become vertices and links become edges in the resulting graph.

The petrology of coal,as determined by the microscopic analysis of organic and inorganic elemental constituents of coal,provides information on its nature and *** is used worldwide in the production of thermal energy and *** the case of high-quality Colombian coals,only limited studies have been carried *** present study presents the geochemical,mineralogical,and petrological characteristics of coal samples collected from puerto Drummond in Cienaga,Colombia,to predict their potential ***,the ultimate,proximate,petrographic,gross calorific value(GCV),ash fusion temperature,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),X-ray diffraction(XRD),X-ray fluorescence(XRF),and Thermogravimetric(TG)analyses were employed in this *** petrological analysis reveals that Colombian coals are naturally more abundant in vitrinite(72%)than inertinite(14e23%)*** and aluminosilicate are the main minerals present as fine particles mixed with *** XRD and FTIR analyses show that the most common and dominant minerals are quartz,while gypsum,hematite,calcite and mica occur in lesser *** oxide composition of the coal ashes consists of 51e58%SiO2 and 18e25%Al2O3 as determined by XRF *** correlation and regression analysis,the moisture content shows a reverse correlation with GCV(Regression value of R2¼0.68).This study helps researchers to comprehend the importance of Colombian coals and presents various techniques for characterisation of coals.

Sediment geochemistry of the urban Lake paulo Gorski

The objective of this study was to evaluate the concentration and distribution of heavy metals in the sediments of paulo Gorski Lake, as well as the metals’ bioavailability and potential ecological risk, and to define the anthropogenic and natural heavy metal contributions to the lake. The chemical elements calcium(Ca), cadmium(Cd), cobalt(Co), chromium(Cr), copper(Cu), iron(Fe), potassium(K), magnesium(Mg), manganese(Mn), sodium(Na), nickel(Ni), lead(pb), and zinc(Zn) were quantified by flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry with two extraction methods to quantify the bioavailable and nonbioavailable fractions. The data were evaluated using multivariate statistics and sediment quality *** sediment collection points(S1, S2, S3, S4 and S5) are different in terms of the concentration of heavy metals, except for S4 and S5, which were statistically equal. The bioavailable fraction of the elements in the sediment follows the sequence pb > Cu > Mn > Zn > Ni > Cr > phosphorus(p) for all points. The elements Co, Cr, pb, and Zn showed moderate to considerable contamination at all points. Only points S3 and S5 had moderate ecological risk. Urbanization has been affecting paulo Gorski Lake via the input of chemical elements, especially Co and pb. The points most affected by heavy metal contamination are S3 and S5 when the sedimentological sensitivity factor is considered. The lake has high hydrodynamics,causing some of the contaminants that enter the system to leave it, leading to potential negative impacts downstream.
