Expression of renal Oat5 and NaDC1 transporters in rats with acute biliary obstruction

AIm: To examine renal expression of organic anion transporter 5(Oat5) and sodium-dicarboxylate cotransporter 1(Na DC1), and excretion of citrate in rats with acute extrahepatic ***: Obstructive jaundice was induced in rats by double ligation and division of the common bile duct(BDL group). Controls underwent sham operation that consisted of exposure, but not ligation, of the common bile duct(Sham group). Studies were performed 21 h after surgery. During this period, animals were maintained in metabolic cages in order to collect urine. The urinary volume was determined by gravimetry. The day of the experiment, blood samples were withdrawn and used to measure total and direct bilirubin as indicative parameters of hepatic function. Serum and urine samples were used for biochemical determinations. Immunoblotting for Oat5 and Na DC1 were performed in renal homogenates and brush border membranes from Sham and BDL rats. Immunohistochemistry studies were performed in kidneys from both experimental groups. Total RNA was extracted from rat renal tissue in order to perform reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. Another set of experimental animals were used toevaluate medullar renal blood flow(m RBF) using fluorescent ***: Total and direct bilirubin levels were significantly higher in BDL animals, attesting to the adequacy of biliary obstruction. An important increase in m RBF was determined in BDL group(Sham: 0.53 ± 0.12 m L/min per 100 g body weight vs BDL: 1.58 ± 0.24 m L/min per 100 g body weight, P me was observed in BDL animals. An important decrease in urinary levels of citrate was seen in BDL group. Background:In the context of the search for cost-efficient treatments,Ulmo(Eurcyphia cordifolia)honey is an excellent alternative for treating burn wounds and could have a profound medical,social,and economic *** acid is an enzymatic co-factor necessary for the synthesis of collagen and the proliferation of fibroblasts and has been proposed as a coadjuvant to strengthen the healing effects of *** aim of this work was to evaluate by morphometric studies the healing wounds caused by burns treated with Ulmo honey alone and supplemented with ascorbic acid in guinea pig(Cavia porcellus).methods:Fifteen guinea pigs were used and divided randomly into three groups:positive control(C+),experimental with unsupplemented honey(H),and experimental with supplemented honey(SH).A uniform deep burn covering 1 cm2of the back skin was *** following indices were calculated for the morphometric study:superficial contraction index of the wound,deep contraction index of the wound,wound severity index,global healing index,global contraction index,and dermal proliferation ***:The superficial contraction index of the wound,global healing index,global contraction,and dermal proliferation area values of the experimental with supplemented honey group were higher than the other groups(Pmbination of honey with an antioxidant(ascorbic acid)promotes an appropriate action to support the healing *** study showed that by supplementing the Ulmo honey with ascorbic acid,the healing and contraction effects can be strengthened in burn wounds compared to unsupplemented *** results were proof of the synergy between honey and ascorbic acid in healing burn wounds.

AIm:To determine the prevalence of refractive error in 5-to 17-year-old schoolchildren in Puerto ***:A quantitative descriptive study of 2867 children aged 5 to 17y from all seven educational regions of Puerto Rico was conducted from 2016–*** error was determined via static and subjective *** with distance acuity≤20/40 or near visual acuity≤20/32 had a cycloplegic *** analysis included descriptive statistics,correlation coefficient,Kruskal-Wallis,Chi-square,and t test ***:Twenty percent of the children had a spherical equivalent refractive error≤-0.50 D,3.2%had a spherical equivalent≥+2.00 D,and 10.4%had astigmatism≥1 *** was a statistically(but non-clinically)significant myopic change in spherical equivalent refractive error with age(Pmyopia increased with age(Pmatism(P=0.51).males had a significantly higher hyperopic spherical equivalent than females(Pmales had a higher prevalence of myopia(Pmales,but there was no difference in the hyperopia(P=0.74)or astigmatism prevalence(P=0.87).CONCLUSION:The prevalence of a spherical equivalent equal to or less than-0.50 D(myopia,20.7%)is one of the highest among similar-aged children *** studies should explore the rate of myopia progression in children in Puerto *** children must be monitored to examine the need for treatment of myopia progression.

Although the figure of the father has progressively gained a place in birth, it is still displaced and in the mere role of a companion. Objective: To understand the experience of fathers who have prepared to get actively involved in birth and to undergo the experience of early physical contact with their newborns. Method: A qualitative Action-Research (AR) design was carried out, which considered the antenatal educational intervention of 12 fathers together with their pregnant partners. After delivery, individual interviews were conducted in depth to collect the paternal experience at birth. Results: The central emerging theme developed during AR was “Paternal role and early bonding with the child”, whereas the experience was comprehended in two central themes related to the meaning of the father-child encounter-contact: “The impact of the face-to-face encounter with the child”;“The first physical contact with the child, a key moment”. Conclusion: The fathers who were prepared and involved from pregnancy and at birth attribute a special meaning to the father-child relationship which generated since the first encounter, allowing them to feel, enjoy and commit to caremily:Verdana;">.

Isoperimetric problems consist in minimizing or maximizing a cost functional subject to an integral *** this work, we present two fractional isoperimetric problems where the Lagrangian depends on a combined Caputo derivative of variable fractional order and we present a new variational problem subject to a holonomic constraint. We establish necessary optimality conditions in order to determine the minimizers of the fractional problems. The terminal point in the cost integral,as well as the terminal state, are considered to be free, and we obtain corresponding natural boundary conditions.

Invariant conditions for conformable fractional problems of the calculus of variations under the presence of external forces in the dynamics are studied. Depending on the type of transformations considered, different necessary conditions of invariance are obtained. As particular cases, we prove fractional versions of Noether's symmetry theorem. Invariant conditions for fractional optimal control problems, using the Hamiltonian formalism, are also investigated. As an example of potential application in Physics, we show that with conformable derivatives it is possible to formulate an Action Principle for particles under frictional forces that is far simpler than the one obtained with classical fractional derivatives.
