While self-assembled monolayers(SAMs)of aromatic thiolates are frequently used in a wide range of applications,their formation is often hampered by the low solubilities of their *** we introduce the 3,4-dimethoxybenzyl group as a protective group for the thiol moiety,which increases the solubility and stability of the precursor,but becomes cleaved off during monolayer formation,especially at elevated temperature(60°C)and in presence of protons(trifluoroacetic acid).For a series of substituted terphenylthiols as model systems,it could be demonstrated by using ellipsometry,infrared-reflection absorption spectroscopy,and scanning-tunneling microscopy that the resulting SAMs have the same structure and quality as the ones obtained from the respective unprotected *** protective group has the additional advantage to be stable under Pdcatalyzed C–C bond formation reaction conditions,facilitating the syntheses of the respective precursors.

The availability of the building’s operation data and occupancy information has been crucial to support the evaluation of existing models and development of new data-driven *** paper describes a comprehensive dataset consisting of indoor environmental conditions,Wi-Fi connected devices,energy consumption of end uses(i.e.,HVAC,lighting,plug loads and fans),HVAC operations,and outdoor weather conditions collected through various heterogeneous sensors together with the ground truth occupant presence and count information for five rooms located in a university *** five rooms include two different-sized lecture rooms,an office space for administrative staff,an office space for researchers,and a library space accessible to all students.A total of 181 days of data was collected from all five rooms at a sampling resolution of 5 *** dataset can be used for benchmarking and supporting data-driven approaches in the field of occupancy prediction and occupant behaviour modelling,building simulation and control,energy forecasting and various building analytics.

Today's power systems are seeing a paradigm shift under the energy transition,sparkled by the electrification of demand,digitalisation of systems,and an increasing share of decarbonated power *** of these changes have a direct impact on their control centers,forcing them to handle weather-based energy resources,new interconnections with neighbouring transmission networks,more markets,active distribution networks,micro-grids,and greater amounts of available ***,these changes have translated during the past decade to small,incremental changes,mostly centered on hardware,software,and human *** assert that more transformative changes are needed,especially regarding human-centered design approaches,to enable control room operators to manage the future power *** paper discusses the evolution of operators towards continuous operation planners,monitoring complex time horizons thanks to adequate real-time *** upcoming challenges as well as emerging technologies for power systems,we present our vision of a new evolutionary architecture for control centers,both at backend and frontend *** propose a unified hypervision scheme based on structured decision-making concepts,providing operators with proactive,collaborative,and effective decision support.

A series of molecules with oligophenylene backbone,thiolate anchoring group,pentafluoro-λ^(6)-sulfanyl(−SF_(5))tail group was synthesized and used as precursors to form self-assembled monolayers(SAMs)on Au(111)*** resulting SAMs feature dense molecular packing,upright molecular orientation,chemically homogeneous SAM-ambient interface,comprised entirely of the−SF_(5)*** SAMs exhibit exceptional wetting and electrostatic properties,showing advancing water contact angles up to 103°and work function values up to 5.96 eV—probably the highest values reported for any aromatic monolayers on *** also feature a comparably low value of the tunnelling decay coefficient(0.38±0.07Å^(−1)),typical of oligophenylene backbone,which is not affected by the introduction of the−SF_(5)*** latter also hardly affects the current densities at a specific bias compared to analogous monolayers with other electronegative tail *** superior electrostatic and good charge transport properties of the designed,SF_(5)-terminated SAMs make them potentially useful for interface engineering in organic electronics and photovoltaics.

Development of an analytical method based on solid-phase extraction and LC-MS/MS for the monitoring of current-use pesticides and their metabolites in human urine

Pyrethroids,organophosphorus pesticides and fipronil have been listed as priority chemicals in human biomonitoring studies because of their wide use and potential health effects in *** determination of 13 pesticides,including pyrethroids(deltamethrin,cypermethrin,permethrin,cyfluthrin,bifenthrin),organophosphorus(chlorpyrifos,chlorpyrifosmethyl,and malathion),fipronil,neonicotinoids(imidacloprid,acetamiprid and thiacloprid)and triazole(prothioconazole),together with 13 corresponding metabolites in human urine samples was achieved by solid-phase extraction and analysis by liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass *** targeted compounds,except malathion dicarboxylic acid,were measured with a mean within-accuracy(n=5)of 71%–114%(RSD:1%–14%)and between-run(n=15)accuracy of 80%–118%(RSD:2%–14%).Limits of quantitation of the targeted analytes ranged from 0.1 to 16 pg/m *** detection result of urine samples from 25 volunteers indicated that the detection frequencies of 3,5,6-trichloro-2-pyridinol(median:448 pg/m L),6-chloropyridine-3-carboxylic acid(median:193 pg/m L),2-methyl-3-phenylbenzoic acid(median:181 pg/m L),3-phenoxybenzoic acid(median:99 pg/m L),2-isopropyl-6-methyl-4-pyrimidinol(median:77 pg/m L),cyfluthrin(median:59 pg/m L),cis-3-(2,2-dichlorovinyl)-2,2-dimethylcyclopropanecarboxylic acid(cis-DCCA,median:53 pg/m L),trans-DCCA(median:25 pg/m L),prothioconazole(median:21 pg/m L),imidacloprid(median:7 pg/m L),and prothioconazole-desthio(median:1 pg/m L)were>50%.The obtained results show that the validated method is suitable for the human biomonitoring of these currentuse pesticides and their metabolites.

Background Antimicrobial alternatives are urgently needed,including for poultry production *** this study,we tested the potential broad-range antimicrobial alternative peracetic acid,delivered in feed via the hydrolysis of encapsulated precursors through a 28-day study using 375 Ross 308 broiler *** tested two peracetic acid concentrations,30 and 80 mg/kg on birds housed on re-used litter,and we evaluated the impact of both levels on gut microbial communities,bacterial concentration,antimicrobial resistance genes relative abundance and growth performance when compared to control birds housed on either clean or re-used *** Body weight gain and feed conversion ratio improved in peracetic acid fed *** d 28,birds given 30 mg/kg of peracetic acid had a decreased Firmicutes and an increased Proteobacteria abundance in the jejunum,accompanied by an increase in Bacillus,Flavonifractor and Rombustia in the caeca,and a decreased abundance of tetracycline resistance *** given 80 mg/kg of peracetic acid had greater caecal abundance of macrolides lincosamides and streptogramins resistance *** performance on clean litter was reduced compared to reused litter,which concurred with increased caecal abundance of Blautia,decreased caecal abundance of Escherichia/Shigella,Anaerostipes and Jeotgalicoccus,and greater gene abundance of vancomycin,tetracycline,and macrolides resistance *** Peracetic acid could be used as a safe broad-spectrum antimicrobial alternative in *** precursors were able to reduce the bacterial concentration in the jejunum whilst promoting the proliferation of probiotic genera in the caeca,especially at the low peracetic acid concentrations tested,and improve growth ***,our findings offer further insights on potential benefits of rearing birds on re-used litter,suggesting that the latter could be associated with better performance and reduced antimicrobial resistance

The structure and magnetic properties of rare-earth ions Tm^(3+)Kagomé lattice Tm_(3)Sb_(3)Mg_(2)O_(14)are studied by x-ray diffraction,magnetic susceptibility and muon spin relaxation(𝜇SR)*** existence of a small amount of Tm/Mg site-mixing disorder is *** magnetic susceptibility measurement shows that Tm^(3+)magnetic moments are antiferromagnetically correlated with a negative Curie-Weiss temperature of−26.3 *** long-range magnetic order nor spin-glass transition is observed by DC and AC magnetic susceptibility,and confirmed by μSR experiment down to 0.1 ***,the emergence of short-range magnetic order is indicated by the zero-field μSR experiments,and the absence of spin dynamics at low temperatures is evidenced by the longitudinal-field μSR *** with the results of Tm_(3)Sb_(3)Zn_(2)O_(14),another Tm-based Kagomé lattice with much more site-mixing disorder,the gapless spin liquid like behaviors in Tm_(3)Sb_(3)Zn_(2)O_(14)can be induced by disorder *** with perfect geometrical frustration are in urgent demand to establish whether QSL exists in this kind of materials with rare-earth Kagomé lattice.

Through the lens of the stock market,we examine whether and how the cloud economy affects China’s *** review the literature on cloud computing and related concepts and propose a definition of the cloud *** on this new definition,we create a China Cloud Economy Index(CCEI)and its *** stock market data from 2012 to 2020,we analyze the basic characteristics of these indices,their validity,and their relationship with the overall stock *** robustness of the new index is also *** find that the relationship between the CCEI and the stock market had been getting stronger but weakened somewhat after January 11,2019 plausibly because of the availability of recent cloud-related policies that have widened the gap between the market performance of CCEI and that of the stock market.

Purpose This study aimed to investigate the relationships between vertical jump metrics and phases during a 60 m *** variances in strength qualities between sprinters of different ability levels were also *** Eighteen young male elite sprinters(age:18.1±1.3 years;stature:1.72±0.07 m;body mass:66.3±6.2 kg)were assessed for squat(SJ),countermovement(CMJ),drop(DJ),and standing long jumps,a maximal load back-squat,and a 60-m sprint from a *** relationships between sprint performances with all variables were analysed using correlation and multiple regression while discriminative parameters between fast(100 m time:~10.50 s)and slow(~11.00 s)sprint groups were assessed using independent *** Higher associations existed between vertical jumps and longer sprint distances,especially between SJ height and relative peak power with 10 m(r=−0.47 and−0.47,respectively),30 m(−0.71 and−0.74),60 m(−0.76 and−0.81),10-30 m(−0.80 and−0.86),and 30-60 m(−0.78 and−0.84)sprint ***,variables such as relative maximal-strength,relative SJ parameters(height,peak force,and peak power),relative CMJ peak power,and reactive strength index(DJ from 35 cm height)had significant discriminative ability and correlations(P<0.05)with sprint distances involving maximal velocity and ***,a combination of SJ height and relative maximal-strength during back-squat accounted for 75%of the variance in 60 m sprint *** Relative measures of multiple strength metrics may provide better insight regarding factors that enhance sprint *** maximal-strength,high explosive power,and reactive strength seem necessary to improve sprint performance in young male elite sprinters.
