The search of quantum spin liquid(QSL),an exotic magnetic state with strongly fluctuating and highly entangled spins down to zero temperature,is a main theme in current condensed matter ***,there is no smoking gun evidence for deconfined spinons in any QSL candidate so *** disorders and competing exchange interactions may prevent the formation of an ideal QSL state on frustrated spin *** we report comprehensive and systematic measurements of the magnetic susceptibility,ultralow-temperature specific heat,muon spin relaxation(μSR),nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR),and thermal conductivity for NaYbSe2 single crystals,in which Yb3+ions with effective spin-1/2 form a perfect triangular *** these complementary techniques find no evidence of long-range magnetic order down to their respective base ***,specific heat,μSR,and NMR measurements suggest the coexistence of quasi-static and dynamic spins in *** scattering from these quasi-static spins may cause the absence of magnetic thermal ***,we propose a scenario of fluctuating ferrimagnetic droplets immersed in a sea of *** may be quite common on the way pursuing an ideal QSL,and provides a brand new platform to study how a QSL state survives impurities and coexists with other magnetically ordered states.

The Use of Far Infrared Treatment Prior to Exercise in Horses: An mfBIA and Acoustic Myography Three Case Study

Background: Acute effects of Far Infrared (FIR) treatment in horses are unknown, especially short periods of 30 minutes, as is any effect on such muscle parameters as warm-up balance, overall exercise balance and laterality asymmetries. Aim: This study examines three equine cases in detail to measure any effects of a short period of FIR treatment. Methods: Multi-frequency bioimpedance (mfBIA) and acoustic myography (AMG), non-invasive techniques, were applied pre- and post-treatment with FIR to the back (T5-L4/5) and for *** dorsi and *** medius was recorded during a 15-minute warm-up regimen. mfBIA parameters included extracellular resistance (Re), centre frequency (fc), membrane capacitance (Mc), intracellular resistance (Ri) and phase angle (PA) which indicates level of training and health status. Results: FIR treatment responses for mfBIA parameters were found to be horse-specific and different, whilst in terms of AMG, FIR treatment for 30 minutes had a beneficial effect on overall balance in all three horses (5 out of 6 muscles), and a beneficial effect on the AMG parameter ST (force symmetry) in all three horses (6 out of 6 muscles). An overall improvement for combined balance and ST values for both muscles and all three horses of 86% was noted with FIR treatment, compared to 56% without. Conclusions: This preliminary study of FIR treatment in three horses, has been found to result in an overall improvement in combined balance and ST values for both muscles. FIR has potential as a promising treatment to reduce the risk of warm-up-related injuries in athletic horses.

Evaluating different levels of information on the calibration of building energy simulation models

A poorly calibrated model undermines confidence in the effectiveness of building energy simulation, impeding the widespread application of advanced energy conservation measures (ECMs). Striking a balance between information-gathering efforts and achieving sufficient model credibility is crucial but often obscured by ambiguities. To address this gap, we model and calibrate a test bed with different levels of information (LOI). Beginning with an initial model based on building geometry (LOI 1), we progressively introduce additional information, including nameplate information (LOI 2), envelope conductivity (LOI 3), zone infiltration rate (LOI 4), AHU fan power (LOI 5), and HVAC data (LOI 6). The models are evaluated for accuracy, consistency, and the robustness of their predictions. Our results indicate that adding more information for calibration leads to improved data fit. However, this improvement is not uniform across all observed outputs due to identifiability issues. Furthermore, for energy-saving analysis, adding more information can significantly affect the projected energy savings by up to two times. Nevertheless, for ECM ranking, models that did not meet ASHRAE 14 accuracy thresholds can yield correct retrofit decisions. These findings underscore equifinality in modeling complex building systems. Clearly, predictive accuracy is not synonymous with model credibility. Therefore, to balance efforts in information-gathering and model reliability, it is crucial to (1) determine the minimum level of information required for calibration compatible with its intended purpose and (2) calibrate models with information closely linked to all outputs of interest, particularly when simultaneous accuracy for multiple outputs is necessary.

Pressure Measurements from Five different Nosebands at Rest, and during Riding at Walk, a Collected Gait, Backing up and a Full Stop

Background: Scientific procedures for addressing noseband fit and tightness, eliminating the risk of excessive and painful tightening, as well as quantitative measurements of pressures under the noseband while riding are either scarce or lacking. Purpose/Aim: To assess simple means of measuring pressure under different nosebands with a view to their adoption as scientific methodology. Method: Horses (n = 7) were fitted with five different bridles (A-E). Pressure distribution and intensity were measured using colour sensitive film (Fujifilm LLLW), assessing the level of pressure and distribution across the surface of the nosebands, as assessed and ranked by independent assessors. A CURO system was also used to measure pressure in real-time under nosebands whilst riding. Results: The colour-sensitive film for d & B were ranked 1st and 2nd, respectively. Regularity of pressure overall showed a statistical difference between nosebands (A & B significantly more unregular than the others). Pressure measurements revealed significantly different means (all P Conclusions: Pressures under nosebands can reach levels that appear capable of inflicting tissue damage, hence bridles and nosebands should be assessed using scientific methodology and not based on arbitrary and subjective criteria, as is currently the case.

By using muon spin relaxation（μSR） measurements, we perform a comparative study of the microscopic magnetism in the parent compounds of infinite-layer nickelate superconductors RNiO2（R = La, Nd）. In either compound, the zero-field μSR spectra down to the lowest measured temperature reveal no long-range magnetic order.

Mechanical Complications after Myocardial Infarction: A Comprehensive Review

Mechanical complications of myocardial infarction are potentially fatal events that can occur after an acute myocardial infarction. While the introduction of primary percutaneous reperfusion and fibrinolysis has reduced the incidence of these complications to less than 1%. These complications pose significant hemodynamic consequences and necessitate prompt diagnosis. Echocardiography, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, and computed tomography are valuable tools for establishing an accurate and expedited diagnosis. Consequently, it is imperative to conduct further scientific research to enhance hemodynamic stabilization techniques such as intra-aortic balloon counterpulsation and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, in addition to exploring new surgical procedures that can reduce mortality resulting from mechanical complications. This article aims to provide a comprehensive review of mechanical complications following myocardial infarction and their correlation with multi-imaging, facilitating a better understanding of these complications.

The structure and magnetic properties of rare-earth ions Tm^(3+)Kagomé lattice Tm_(3)Sb_(3)Mg_(2)O_(14)are studied by x-ray diffraction,magnetic susceptibility and muon spin relaxation(𝜇SR)*** existence of a small amount of Tm/Mg site-mixing disorder is *** magnetic susceptibility measurement shows that Tm^(3+)magnetic moments are antiferromagnetically correlated with a negative Curie-Weiss temperature of−26.3 *** long-range magnetic order nor spin-glass transition is observed by dC and AC magnetic susceptibility,and confirmed by μSR experiment down to 0.1 ***,the emergence of short-range magnetic order is indicated by the zero-field μSR experiments,and the absence of spin dynamics at low temperatures is evidenced by the longitudinal-field μSR *** with the results of Tm_(3)Sb_(3)Zn_(2)O_(14),another Tm-based Kagomé lattice with much more site-mixing disorder,the gapless spin liquid like behaviors in Tm_(3)Sb_(3)Zn_(2)O_(14)can be induced by disorder *** with perfect geometrical frustration are in urgent demand to establish whether QSL exists in this kind of materials with rare-earth Kagomé lattice.

State-of-the-art imaging techniques in endoscopic ultrasound

Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) has recently evolved through technological improvement of equipment,with a major clinical impact in digestive and mediastinal ***-of-the-art EUS equipment now includes real-time sono-elastography,which might be useful for a better characterization of lesions and increased accuracy of differential diagnosis (for *** nodes or focal pancreatic lesions).Contrast-enhanced EUS imaging is also available,and is already being used for the differential diagnosis of focal pancreatic *** recent development of low mechanical index contrast harmonic EUS imaging offers hope for improved diagnosis,staging and monitoring of anti-angiogenic *** EUS (3d-EUS) techniques can be applied to enhance the spatial understanding of EUS anatomy,especially for improved staging of tumors,obtained through a better assessment of the relationship with major surrounding *** the progress gained through all these imaging techniques,they cannot replace cytological or histological ***,real-time optical histological diagnosis can be achieved through the use of single-fiber confocal laser endomicroscopy techniques placed under real-time EUS-guidance through a 22G ***,but not least,EUS-assisted natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (NOTES) procedures offer a whole new area of imaging applications,used either for combination of NOTES peritoneoscopy and intraperitoneal EUS,but also for access of retroperitoneal organs through posterior EUS guidance.

The development of a narrow channel or slit due to piping just underneath the base of levees channel has been reported to be useful to withstand the increase in the head beyond critical head conditions. Also, the maximum slit length has been emphasized to be up to half of the base width. By developing a model of critical head considering slit, it is found that the critical head can increase with the development of slit length only under certain conditions. Analysis of piping failure data indicates that the critical head expressions considering slit length constitute a potentially useful model for critical head.
