Let C be a cone and consider a quasi-norm p defined on it. We study the structure of the couple （C, p） as a topological space in the case where the function p is also monotone. We characterize when the topology of a quasi-normed cone can be defined by means of a monotone norm. We also define and study the dual cone of a monotone normed cone and the monotone quotient of a general cone. We provide a decomposition theorem which allows us to write a cone as a direct sum of a monotone subcone that is isomorphic to the monotone quotient and other particular subcone.

Phase change materials(PCMs) designate materials able to store latent *** change state from solid to liquid over a defined temperature *** process is reversible and can be used for thermo-technical *** present paper aims to study the thermal performance of an inorganic eutectic PCM integrated into the rooftop slab of a test room and analyze its potential for building thermal *** experiment is conducted in two test rooms in Antofagasta(Chile) during summer,fall,and *** PCM is integrated into the rooftop of the first test room,while the roof panel of the second room is a sealed air *** work introduces a numerical model,which is built using the finite difference method and used to simulate the rooms' thermal *** thermal simulations of the PCM room are performed for other Chilean locations to evaluate and compare the capability of the PCM panel to store latent heat thermal energy in different *** show that the indoor temperature of the PCM room in Antofagasta varies only 21.1℃±10.6℃,while the one of the air-panel room varies 28.3℃±18.5℃.Under the experiment's conditions,the PCM room's indoor temperature observes smoother diurnal fluctuations,with lower maximum and higher minimum indoor temperatures than that of the air-panel *** simulations in other cities show that the PCM panel has a better thermal performance during winter,as it helps to maintain or increase the room temperature by some degrees to reach comfort *** demonstrates that the implementation of such PCM in the building envelope can effectively reduce space heating and cooling needs,and improve indoor thermal comfort in different climates of Chile.

To understand the processes and energy dissipation performance caused by turbulence during the wave run-up over a stepped revetment,hydraulic model tests with steady flow conditions are conducted and correlated with unsteady flow conditions of the wave run-up within a short time *** irregular waves,the run-up reduction over a stepped revetment is dependent on the Iribarren number and decreases for decreasing Iribarren *** gradients are found to be similar in a steady and unsteady flow regime near the pseudo-bottom.

Dear Editor, The scarce number of secondary spermatocytes in human seminiferous tubules and the complexity of analyzing chromosomes at metaphase II are the main causes of the limited knowledge we have about chromosome characteristics at this stage. In this study, we have performed a comprehensive analysis of meiotic abnormalities in metaphase II spermatocytes combining Leishman＇s staining protocols and multiplex fluorescent in situ hybridization procedures. Results indicated that infertile individuals showed different susceptibilities to meiotic abnormalities in secondary spermatocytes without a preferentially effect on any particular chromosome.

Dear Editor, In interphase nuclei, chromosomes occupy specific localizations called chromosome territories （CTs）. Distribution of CTs has been related to chromosome size and gene density and is known to influence gene expression.~ This pattern of organization appears to be a widespread nuclear feature, both in somatic and germ ceils.

Demand response is a basic tool used to develop modern power systems and electricity markets. Residential and commercial segments account for 40%–50% of the overall electricity demand. These segments need to overcome major obstacles before they can be included in a demand response portfolio. The objective of this paper is to tackle some of the technical barriers and explain how the potential of enabling technology(smart meters) can be harnessed, to evaluate the potential of customers for demand response(end-uses and their behaviors) and,moreover, to validate customers’ effective response to market prices or system events by means of non-intrusive methods. A tool based on the Hilbert transform is improved herein to identify and characterize the most suitable loads for the aforesaid purpose, whereby important characteristics such as cycling frequency, power level and pulse width are identified. The proposed methodology allows the filtering of aggregated load according to the amplitudes of elemental loads, independently of the frequency of their behaviors that could be altered by internal or external inputs such as weather or demand response. In this way, the assessment and verification of customer response can be improved by solving the problem of load aggregation with the help of integral transforms.

Objective: To evaluate the activity of different natural products against L3 larvae of Anisakis type I. Methods: Information on investigations into the activity of natural products against the L3 larvae of Anisakis simplex was collected from scientific journals, books, theses and reports via a library and electronic search(using Pubmed, scopus, Medline, Web of science and science Direct). The search terms included: natural products, medicinal plants, essential oils, terpenic derivatives, Anisakis, antinematodal activity. Results: In the literature reviewed numerous papers were found concerning the in vitro and in vivo activity against Anisakis type I of various natural products(plant extracts, essential oils and their major components). Analysis of the results showed that in vitro tests the Melaleuca alternifolia essential oil and the ar-turmerone isolated from Curcuma longa displayed the greatest activity. In vivo, the most active compound was perillaldehyde, the main component of Perilla frutescens essential oil. Conclusions: This study shows that some natural products exhibited promising antianisakis properties.

The combination of Machine Learning (ML), smart energy meters, and availability of household appliance energy profile data has opened new opportunities for Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring (NILM). However, the number of options makes it challenging in selecting optimal combinations for different energy applications, which requires studies to examine their *** paper contributes one such study that investigated four established ML approaches – K Nearest Neighbour (KNN), support Vector Machine (sVM), eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) – and their performance in classifying appliance events from Alternating Current (AC) and Root Mean square (RMs) energy data where the sampling frequency and training dataset set size was varied (10 Hz–1 kHz and 50–2000 examples per class, respectively). The computational expense during training, testing and storage was also assessed and evaluated with reference to real-world *** CNN classifier trained on AC data at 500 Hz and 11,000 examples gave the best F1-score (0.989) followed by the KNN classifier (0.940). The storage size required by the CNN models was 3̃MB, which is very close to fitting on cost-effective embedded system microcontrollers. This would prevent high-rate data needing to be sent to the cloud as analysis could be performed on edge computing Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices.

Turbulent boundary layer control(TBLC) for skin-friction drag reduction is a relatively new technology made possible through the advances in computational-simulation capabilities,which have improved the understanding of the flow structures of *** in micro-electronic technology have enabled the fabrication of active device systems able to manipulating these *** combination of simulation,understanding and micro-actuation technologies offers new opportunities to significantly decrease drag,and by doing so,to increase fuel efficiency of future *** literature review that follows shows that the application of active control turbulent skin-friction drag reduction is considered of prime importance by industry,even though it is still at a low technology readiness level(TRL).This review presents the state of the art of different technologies oriented to the active and passive control for turbulent skin-friction drag reduction and contributes to the improvement of these technologies.
