This work presents a novel approach to the dynamic response analysis of a Euler-Bernoulli beam resting on a Winkler soil model and subjected to an impact loading.The approach considers that damping has much less importance in controlling the maximum response to impulsive loadings because the maximum response is reached in a very short time,before the damping forces can dissipate a significant portion of the energy input into the system.The development of two sine series solutions,relating to different type. of impulsive loadings,one involving a single concentrated force and the other a distributed line load,are presented.This study revealed that when a simply supported Euler-Bernoulli beam,resting on a Winkler soil model,is subject to an impact load,the resulting vertical displacements,bending moments and shear forces produced along the span of the beam are considerably affected.In particular,the quantification of this effect is best observed,relative to the corresponding static solution,via an amplification factor.The computed impact amplification factors,for the sub-grade moduli used in this study,were in magnitude greater than 2,thus confirming the multiple-degree-of-freedom nature of the problem.

Endoscopic resection(ER)of colorectal polyps has become a daily practice in most endoscopic units providing a colorectal cancer screening program and requires the availability of local expe.ts and high-end endoscopic devices.ER procedures have evolved over the past few years from endoscopic mucosal resection(EMR)to more advanced techniques,such as endoscopic submucosal dissection and endo-scopic full-thickness resection.Complete resection and disease eradication are the ultimate goals of ER-based techniques,and novel devices have been develope. to achieve these goals.The EndoRotor®Endoscopic Powered Resection System(Interscope.Medical,Inc.,Northbridge,Massachusetts,United States)is one such device.The EndoRotor is a powered resection tool for the removal of alimentary tract mucosa,including post-EMR pe.sistent lesions with scarring,and has both CE Mark and FDA clearance.This review covers available published evidence documenting the usefulness of EndoRotor for the management of recurrent colorectal polyps.

Due to a complex geological and biotic history,the Isthmus of Tehuantepe.(IT),has been long recognized as a driver for the evolutionary divergence of numerous lowland and highland taxa.Widely distributed in the lowlands of the American continent,the White-Tippe. Dove(leptotila verreauxi)is a polytypic spe.ies with 13 recognized subspe.ies.Four of these have been recorded in Mexico,and the distribution of three abuts at the IT,suggesting a contact zone.To estimate phylogenetic patterns,divergence times and genetic differentiation,we examined two mt DNA(ND2 and COI)and one n DNA(β-fibint 7)markers.We also used correlative ecological niche models(ENM)to assess whether ecological differences across the IT may have acted as a biogeographical boundary.We estimated paleodistributions during the Middle Holocene,last Glacial Maximum and last Interglacial,to evaluate the influence of climate changes on the distribution and demographic changes.Our results showed genetically distinct lineages that diverged approximately 2.5 million years ago.Climatic and ecological factors may have played a dual role in promoting differentiation,but also in the formation of a secondary contact zone in the southern IT.Our ecological niche comparisons indicated that the ecological niche of sympatric lineages at the IT are not identical,suggesting niches divergence;in addition,environmental niche models across the region indicated no abrupt biogeographic barriers,but the presence of regions with low suitability.These results suggest that genetic differentiation originated by a vicariant event probably related to environmental factors,favored the evolution of different ecological niches.Also,the absence of a biogeographic barrier but the presence of less suitable areas in the contact regions,suggest that secondary contact zones may be also maintained by climatic factors for the eastern group,but also by biotic interactions for the western group.

Objective To evaluate the chemical composition and effects of Artemisia vulgaris(AV)hydroalcoholic extract(HEAV)on breast cancer cells(MCF-7 and SKBR-3),chronic myeloid leukemia(K562)and NIH/3T3 fibroblasts.Methods Phytochemical analysis of HEAV was done by high-pe.formance liquid chromatography-mass(HPlC)spe.trometry.Viability and cell death studies were pe.formed using trypan blue and Annexin/FITC-7AAD,respe.tively.Ferrostatin-1(Fer-1)and necrostatin-1(Nec-1)were used to assess the mode of HEAV-induced cell death and acetoxymethylester(BAPTA-AM)was used to verify the involvement of cytosolic calcium in this event.Cytosolic calcium measurements were made using Fura-2-AM.Results HEAV decreased the viability of MCF-7,SKBR-3 and K562 cells(Plity of HEAV-treated K562 cells was reduced compared to HEAV-exposed fibroblasts(Plls with HEAV induced cell death primarily by late apoptosis and necrosis in assays using annexin V-FITC/7-AAD(Plity of K562 cells treated with HEAV relative to cells exposed to HEAV alone(Please mainly from lysosomes in K562 cells(Pllular Ca^(2+)chelator,decreased the number of non-viable cells treated with HEAV(Plusions HEAV is cytotoxic and activates several modalities of cell death,which are partially depe.dent on lysosomal release of Ca^(2+).These effects may be related to artemisinin and caffeoylquinic acids,the main compounds identified in HEAV.

Vanadium mineralization at los Chihuidos deposit of the Neuquén Basin is linked to the development of a redox front system related to the inflow of hydrocarbons into the red sandstone of the Huincul Formation.Interaction of hydrocarbons with oxidized red beds and connate water generated redox reactions where hematite was dissolved due to iron reduction resulting in the discoloration of the red strata.At the contact between oxidized red sandstone and reduced white sandstone,precipitation of spe.ific mineral phases resulted in the V ore with minor amounts of Cu.With the implementation of the redox interface,abundant V-montmorillonite and V-hematite precipitated at the more oxidizing conditions and Cu-V-corrensite-type.at the more reducing conditions of the redox front.As the redox front advanced with fluids constantly migrating into the reservoir,more reducing conditions were stablished,promoting chloritization and minor illitization with V-Cu incorporation and continuous upgrading of the ore.Main ore mineralogy consists of clay minerals including V-bearing montmorillonite,Cu-V-corrensite-type.V-di-trioctahedral chlorite and Cu-tri-trioctahedral chlorite with minor V-illite-smectite mixed-layer minerals and associated secondary V-hematite.Chloritization over illitization was favored due to high amounts of Fe and Mg in detrital clasts and in connate fluids and by low K availability related to low amounts of detrital K-feldspar.The spatial transition of V and/or Cu bearing clay minerals observed through the mineralized redox front at los Chihuidos deposit(kaolinite→smectite→illite/smectite→corrensite-type.di-trioctahedral-chlorite→tri-trioctahedral-chlorite)and the related variation of V-Cu concentrations in bulk rock are indicative of increasing pH and decreasing Eh of resident solutions from red to white sandstones during the hypogene mineralization process.late influx of Cu-rich oxidized basinal brines precipitated main coppe. ore with Cu-sulfides in the white sandstone up to the contact with the redox front in co

The amphetamine derivative 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), also called ecstasy, is a neurotoxin widely consumed among young pe.ple that has increased in recent years because it is a recreational drug, of which immediate effects are known such as a greater sensation of well-being, extroversion, increased sensory pe.ception. However, its long-term effects have been described very little in the medical literature, including damage to the heart, central nervous system, kidney, etc. One of its little-known effects is hepatotoxicity, of which few cases are known associated with fulminant hepatitis, which is a rapidly deteriorating condition that is generally associated with a syndrome of multiple organ dysfunction and death. Therefore, it is very important to know this type.of damage in the short and long term. The following case is of a 39-year-old man who came to our service due to jaundice syndrome and the only history of MDMA consumption, who as the days went by met the criteria for fulminant liver failure, with damage to multiple organs (organ dysfunction syndrome).

Safety critical control is often trained in a simulated environment to mitigate risk.Subsequent migration of the biased controller requires further adjustments.In this pape.,an expe.ience inference human-behavior learning is proposed to solve the migration problem of optimal controllers applied to real-world nonlinear systems.The approach is inspired in the complementary prope.ties that exhibits the hippocampus,the neocortex,and the striatum learning systems located in the brain.The hippocampus defines a physics informed reference model of the realworld nonlinear system for expe.ience inference and the neocortex is the adaptive dynamic programming(ADP)or reinforcement learning(Rl)algorithm that ensures optimal pe.formance of the reference model.This optimal pe.formance is inferred to the real-world nonlinear system by means of an adaptive neocortex/striatum control policy that forces the nonlinear system to behave as the reference model.Stability and convergence of the proposed approach is analyzed using lyapunov stability theory.Simulation studies are carried out to verify the approach.

We have recently read with interest the mini-review article"Therape.tic endoscopy for the treatment of post-bariatric surgery complications".The abovementioned article is a brief overview of the different endoscopic modalities employed in the management of bariatric surgery complications and represents an important decision support tool for clinicians to improve their current practice.Although we appreciate the endeavor of larsen and Kozarek,based on our indepth analysis,we came across several minor issues in this article;thus,we present our comments in this letter.In case the authors contemplate these comments in their relevant research,we believe that their contribution would be considerable for future studies.

We recently read with interest the article,“Novel frontiers of agents for bowel cleansing for colonoscopy”.This is a practical narrative review,which could be of particular importance to clinicians in order to improve their current practice.Although we appreciate the venture of our colleagues,based on our in-depth analysis,we came across several minor issues in the article;hence,we present our comments in this letter.If the authors consider these comments further in their relevant research,we believe that their contribution would be of considerable importance for future studies.

Earned duration management(EDM)is a methodology for project schedule management(PSM)that can be considered an alternative to earned value management(EVM).EDM provides an estimation of devia-tions in schedule and a final project duration estimation.There is a key difference between EDM and EVM:In EDM,the value of activities is expressed as work pe.iods;whereas in EVM,value is expressed in terms of cost.In this pape.,we present how EDM can be applied to monitor and control stochastic pro-jects.To explain the methodology,we use a real case study with a project that presents a high level of uncertainty and activities with random durations.We analyze the usability of this approach according to the activities network topology and compare the EVM and earned schedule methodology(ESM)for PSM.
