Magnesi.m alloy AZ91 was prepared by powder metallurgy method, and the effect of si.teri.g temperature on the densi.i.s and mi.rostructures of the alloys was i.vesti.ated. The results show that ti.ht control of the si.teri.g temperature wi.hi. a narrow range around the li.ui.us level generates structures wi.h hi.h i.tegri.y and reduces some of the di.advantages caused by the hi.her temperatures. The matri. consi.ts of a-Mg grai.s/cells surrounds by di.conti.uous preci.i.ates of Mg17Al12 i.termetalli.s whi.h are normally located at the grai. boundari.s and tri.le juncti.n.

Background: A North-South gradi.nt i. Crohn’s di.ease (CD) i.plyi.g a hi.her i.ci.ence i. northern Europe compared to southern Europe has been establi.hed. Ai.s: To i.vesti.ate whether there i. a di.ference between Denmark and Portugal i. the frequency of CARD15 mutati.ns i. CD pati.nts compared to a healthy background populati.n and to compare genotype-phenotype relati.ns i. the two countri.s. Methods: 58 Dani.h pati.nts and 29 Portuguese pati.nts wi.h CD were matched for age, sex and di.ease behavi.ur at ti.e of di.gnosi. and compared wi.h 200 healthy Dani.h and Portuguese controls. Phenotypes were recorded at year of di.gnosi., 3 years after di.gnosi. and at end of follow-up. Pati.nts were genotyped for Arg702Trp, Gly908Arg and Leu1007i.sC. Results: 22%of the Dani.h pati.nts vs. 9%of Dani.h controls compared to 21%of the Portuguese pati.nts vs. 16%had at least one mutati.n. Mutati.n rates i. Dani.h pati.nts were si.ni.i.antly di.ferent (p = 0.02) compared wi.h Dani.h controls, no di.ference (p = 0.51) was found between Portuguese pati.nts and controls. However, a possi.le relati.nshi. between CD and presence of geneti. mutati.ns was found when compari.g the two countri.s (p = 0.03) usi.g the Mantel-Haenszel test. No di.ference i. evoluti.n of phenotypes and the CARD15 status i. CD was found duri.g follow-up between the two matched populati.ns. i.eal di.ease correlated to hi.h occurrence of CARD15. Conclusi.n: No North-South gradi.nt regardi.g occurrence of CARD15 was revealed. Although a trend towards more mutati.ns i. the Portuguese controls was seen, a relati.nshi. between CD and CARD15 mutati.ns was observed i. both countri.s.

A pot experi.ent was conducted to determi.e the potenti.l of AM fungi.i. phytoremedi.ti.n of heavy metals and i.s effect on yi.ld of wheat crop. The experi.ent was conducted i. CR Desi.n wi.h four repli.ati.ns duri.g rabi.2012-13. Data showed no i.crease i. grai. and shoot yi.lds by AMF i.oculati.n wi.h Zn, Cu, Fe, Mn at di.ferent levels but i.creased root yi.ld, plant hei.ht, spi.e length and hundred grai.s wei.ht of wheat as compared wi.h uni.oculated crop. Post-harvest soi. Zn, Cu, Fe and Mn contents of 2, 4.4, 2.8 and 2.9 mg·kg-1, respecti.ely were maxi.um i. uni.oculated plants treated wi.h Zn, Cu, Fe, Mn at tri.le of recommended level. No i.creases i. plant P, N, Zn, Cu, Fe and Mn uptakes were observed by the i.oculati.n of AMF when compared wi.h uni.oculated crop. Maxi.um plant Zn, Cu, Fe and Mn uptakes of 160.5, 206, 1914.6 and 2653 g·ha-1, respecti.ely were recorded i. uni.oculated plants appli.d wi.h Zn, Cu, Fe, Mn at tri.le of recommended levels. Wheat roots i.fecti.n i.tensi.y by AMF i.creased wi.h hi.her AMF soi. spores densi.y. Results suggest the potenti.l of phytoremedi.ti.n of contami.ated soi. to be i.proved by the i.oculati.n of crops wi.h AMF.

The fi.st-pri.ci.les study of the structural, elasti. and electroni. properti.s of the M2XC phases dependi.g on the type of M transi.i.n metal （M are Ti.and Cr） and on X （X are Ga and A1） was reported. The calculati.ns are performed usi.g the pseudo-potenti.l plane-wave approach i. both the local densi.y and generali.ed gradi.nt approxi.ati.ns. The elasti. constants are calculated usi.g the stati. fi.i.e strai. techni.ue. Features such as structural and elasti. parameters, Debye tem- perature, sound veloci.i.s and thei. pressure dependence have been i.vesti.ated. i. agreement wi.h experi.ental and previ.us theoreti.al fi.di.gs, i. i. found that the compressi.i.i.y along a and c axi. depends on the valence electron concentrati.n （VEC）. Correlati.ns reveali.g the governi.g role of the X and M elements on the machi.abi.i.y i.di.es of the materi.l have been exami.ed. The electroni. properti.s have been di.cussed i. terms of chemi.al bondi.g showi.g that bondi.g i. due to Md-Cp and Md-Xp hybri.i.ati.ns. M-C bonds are sti.fer than M-X ones and A1-Ti.（Cr-C） bonds are sti.fer than those correspondi.g to Ti.C （A1-Cr）. i. i. shown that the sti.fness of the M-X and M-C bonds i.creases wi.h i.creasi.g the number of VEC.
