Introduction: a.teria. hypertension (a.) in children is under-dia.nosed a.d often ha. a.poor prognosis. The a.m of this study wa. to describe the epidemiologica., dia.nostic, thera.eutic a.d evolutiona.y a.pects of hypertension in children a. the University Hospita. of Boua.é, with a.view to improving the prognosis. Methods: This wa. a.cross-sectiona., a.a.ytica. study ca.ried out in the pa.dia.rics depa.tment of Boua.é University Hospita.. It concerned the medica. records of children a.ed 4 to 15 hospita.ised from 1 Ja.ua.y 2017 to 31 December 2020 for hypertension. Dia.nosis wa. ba.ed on the simplified blood pressure guidelines of the Expert Consensus of the French Society of Hypertension. The va.ia.les studied were epidemiologica., dia.nostic, thera.eutic a.d evolutiona.y. Qua.tita.ive va.ia.les were compa.ed a. the significa.ce level p ≤ 0.05. Results: The hospita. incidence of hypertension wa. 0.32% (69/21,642). The sex ra.io wa. 0.72. 97.1% of the children were over five yea.s of a.e. Oedema.(49.3%) a.d brea.hing difficulties (20.2%) were the ma.n rea.ons for consulta.ion. Hypertension wa. cla.sified a. threa.ening (56.5%), confirmed (31.9%) a.d borderline (11.6%). The ca.se wa. rena. in 66.7%, domina.ed by impure nephrotic syndrome (24.6%). Trea.ment for hypertension consisted ma.nly of a.diuretic (79.7%) a.d a.ca.cium cha.nel blocker (47.8%). Outcome wa. fa.oura.le in 50.7% of ca.es. Morta.ity wa. 20.3%. No fa.tor wa. significa.tly a.socia.ed with dea.h. Conclusion: Hypertension in children a. Boua.é University Hospita. is serious. The a.tiology is ma.nly rena.. Ea.ly dia.nosis a.d ma.a.ement a.e key to improving prognosis.

In the tropics, lowla.d rice cultiva.ion is often confronted with the problem of iron toxicity. The solution proposed by resea.ch in genera. is the use of industria. silicon. However, the high cost of industria. silicon limits its a.option by fa.mers. a.study wa. ca.ried out in Za.ogbeu;Center-West of Côte d’Ivoire, to a.sess the potentia. of ka.lin to mitiga.e the effect of this soil constra.nt on the root of the rice pla.t. Five ka.lin-ba.ed trea.ments were a.a.yzed (T0 = 0 kg ka.lin ha.sup>−1, T1 = 366 kg ka.lin ha.sup>−1, T2 = 736 kg ka.lin ha.sup>−1, T3 = 1097 kg ka.lin ha.sup>−1 a.d T4 = 1465 kg ka.lin ha.sup>−1 a.e 0, 200, 400, 600 a.d 800 kg SiO2 ha.sup>−1) in a.device in complete ra.dom blocks, with 5 repetitions. The results obta.ned show tha. ka.lin supply increa.es the length of the root tissue a. well a. the number of bra.ching of the root of the rice pla.t. Root tissue increa.ed from 10 cm with T0 trea.ment to more tha. 15 cm with trea.ment T4. The microscopic observa.ion of the roots shows tha. in the trea.ment T0, the roots present only prima.y ra.ifica.ions a.d the tertia.y a.d qua.erna.y ra.ifica.ions a.e observed with the trea.ments T3 a.d T4. The contribution of ka.lin is a. a.terna.ive to inhibit the effect of iron toxicity on the rice pla.t root development in iron toxicity condition.

La.dfills a.e conta.ina.ed sites tha. need to be clea.ed up to prevent huma. a.d environmenta. exposure to polluta.ts. This a.ticle a.ms to identify loca. pla.ts ca.a.le of restoring soil polluted by hea.y meta.s. To this end, pla.t species a. the Bonoua.la.dfill were inventoried. X-ra. fluorescence spectrometry wa. used to determine the hea.y meta. content of soil a.d pla.ts from the la.dfill. The bioconcentra.ion fa.tor (BCF) of meta.s in pla.ts wa. eva.ua.ed. The Bonoua.la.dfill is covered with 62 pla.t species, comprising 28 bota.ica. fa.ilies a.d 50 genera. The BCF va.ied from 0.08 (tita.ium) to 2.27 (strontium) for Phylla.thus a.a.us;from 0.06 (tita.ium) to 1.83 (copper) for a.terna.thera.sessilis a.d from 0.03 (a.senic) to 2.10 (strontium) for a.a.a.thus spinosus. Phylla.thus a.a.us, a.terna.thera.sessilis, a.d a.a.a.thus spinosus a.e strontium-a.cumula.ing species (BCF > 1). Simila.ly, copper BCF va.ues were a.ove 1 for Phylla.thus a.a.us, a.d a.terna.thera.sessilis. These two pla.t species a.e therefore copper a.cumula.ors. In short, Phylla.thus a.a.us, a.terna.thera.sessilis, a.d a.a.a.thus spinosus a.e ca.dida.e species for phytoremedia.ion of hea.y meta.-polluted soils, given their BCF > 1.

Introduction: Work-a.gra.a.ed a.thma.is pre-existing or concomita.t a.thma.whose symptoms a.e a.gra.a.ed by the work environment. The a.m of this study wa. to determine the preva.ence of this pa.hology a.d its a.socia.ed fa.tors a.ong ba.ery workers in a.idja.. Ma.eria.s a.d Methods: This descriptive a.d a.a.ytica. cross-sectiona. study wa. conducted over a.period of four (4) months from 18 December 2019 to 18 a.ril 2020. Two questionna.res were used, one on employees a.d the other on the indoor environment of ba.eries. In a.dition, a.spirometry test wa. performed on a.l ba.ery workers. Sta.istica. a.a.ysis wa. performed using sta.a.15.1 softwa.e. Results: a.tota. of 599 ba.ery employees, including ba.ers (59.73%), sa.es a.sista.ts/ ca.hiers (23.52%), clea.ers (6.34%) a.d a.ministra.ive sta.f (10.18%), were investiga.ed. The mea. a.e wa. 30.8 ± 8 yea.s, with a.sex ra.io (M/F) = 2.2. a.thma.symptoms were found in 95 (15.86%) employees, of whom 74 (77.9%) ha. work-rela.ed a.thma.a.d 11 (14.9%) ha. a.thma.a.gra.a.ed by work. The fa.tors a.socia.ed with work-a.gra.a.ed a.thma.were persona. or fa.ily history of a.lergy or a.opy [ORa.= 3.75;CI95%: 1.56 - 8.93;p = 0.003], exposure to dust [ORa.= 5.01;CI95%: 1.43 - 7.50;p = 0.011] a.d humidity level (60% - 70%) [ORa.= 1.80;CI 95%: 0.99 - 3.28;p = 0.05]. Conclusion: Work-a.gra.a.ed a.thma.is a.rea.ity in ba.eries in a.idja., with a. estima.ed preva.ence of 14.9%. Two of the three fa.tors a.socia.ed with this condition suggest a.link with indoor a.r pollution. Comba.ing a.r pollution in these esta.lishments must therefore be a.priority for the releva.t a.thorities, in order to provide employees with a.working environment tha. protects their hea.th.

Introduction: Mecha.ica. complica.ions a.ter osteosynthesis a.e sponta.eous a.d ha.mful modifica.ions of the joint compromising the consolida.ion process. The a.m of this study is to report on the frequency of these complica.ions a.d their ma.a.ement in the Orthopa.dic-Tra.ma.ology Depa.tment of CHU Igna.e Deen. Pa.ients a.d Methods: we conducted a.retrospective descriptive a.d a.a.ytica. cross-sectiona. study from Ja.ua.y 2017 to December 2022. It focused on the records of pa.ients hospita.ized a.d trea.ed in the depa.tment for a.mecha.ica. complica.ion a.ter osteosynthesis. Results: The frequency of mecha.ica. complica.ions wa. 1.2%, with a. a.era.e a.e of 44.2 yea.s a.d a.sex ra.io of 3.2 in fa.or of men. Non-complia.ce with postopera.ive instructions, non-complia.ce with surgica. technique, postopera.ive infection a.d ea.ly loa.ing were the ma.n contributing fa.tors. Disa.sembly of the screw-pla.e wa. the most common ca.se in 6 ca.es (35.5%), with a.mea. dela. of 4.1 months. Revision osteosynthesis wa. ca.ried out using screw pla.es in 8 ca.es (47.1%). Conclusion: Mecha.ica. complica.ions of osteosynthesis a.e less frequent tra.ma.ic conditions in our depa.tment. Severa. fa.tors contribute to their occurrence.

Ba.kground a.d Objectives: The indica.ion for trea.ment in HBsa.-positive pa.ients with low vira. loa. a.d norma. tra.sa.ina.es requires a. a.sessment of fibrosis. In resource-limited settings, free hepa.ic fibrosis eva.ua.ion tests ca. a.d in thera.eutic decision-ma.ing. Our study a.ms to demonstra.e the utility of a.sessing hepa.ic fibrosis using non-inva.ive ma.kers (a.RI a.d FIB-4) in pa.ients with chronic B vira. hepa.itis without cytolytic a.tivity a.d low vira. replica.ion in our context. Pa.ients a.d Methods: This is a.retrospective cross-sectiona. study conducted between Ja.ua.y 2018 a.d December 2021 a. the University Hospita. Center of Boua.é. Included were a.l pa.ients a.ed ≥18 with norma. tra.sa.ina.es (Results: Our study included 241 pa.ients, with a.mea. a.e of 36.19 yea.s (±10.52 yea.s) a.d a.ma.e predomina.ce of 52%. The mea. FibroSca.® va.ue wa. 6.44 ± 2.3 kPa. a.d 68 pa.ients (28.22%) ha. fibrosis >7 kPa. To exclude significa.t fibrosis (FS Conclusion: a.significa.t proportion of HBV-infected pa.ients with norma. a.T a.d low vira. loa. ha.e a.tive liver disea.e. Both FIB-4 a.d a.RI biologica. scores a.e useful in identifying individua.s without significa.t fibrosis with a.good nega.ive predictive va.ue (>50%).

Ba.kground a.d Objective: Hepa.ocellula. ca.cinoma.(HCC) is a.public hea.th problem due to its high incidence a.d high morta.ity ra.e. The epidemiology a.d prognosis of this disea.e is poorly documented in Boua.e. The a.m of the study wa. to describe the epidemiologica. a.pects a.d identify the predictors of dea.h in pa.ients hospita.ized for HCC in the Interna. Medicine Depa.tment of the Boua.e University Hospita. in order to improve pa.ient ma.a.ement. Ma.eria. a.d Methods: We conducted a.cross-sectiona. study from 1 Ja.ua.y 2020 to 31 December 2022 in the Interna. Medicine Depa.tment of Boua.e University Hospita., involving 160 pa.ients. Results: The preva.ence of HCC wa. 3.6%, the mea. a.e wa. 48.86 ± 14.5 yea.s with extremes of 14 a.d 90 yea.s a.d the sex ra.io wa. 2.90. Vira. hepa.itis B wa. observed in 81% of pa.ients, with HBs a. positivity in 71.2%. The performa.ce sta.us of WHO wa. ≥ 2 in 93.2% of ca.es. HCC wa. discovered a. a.va.ced sta.e respectively in 51% for BCLC C a.d 47.8% for BCLC D sta.e. The nodules were multiple (89.3%), a.d superior to 3 cm. The hospita. morta.ity wa. 20% a.d BCLC D sta.e of HCC wa. significa.tly a.socia.ed with dea.h (p = 0.04) in the univa.ia.e a.a.ysis. The BCLC D sta.e of HCC wa. significa.tly a.socia.ed with dea.h. Length of sta. inferior to 5 da.s (OR = 0.77;CI 95: 0.61 - 0.96) a.d hepa.ic encepha.opa.hy (OR = 1.39;CI 95: 1.10 - 1.77), were the two independent predictors of morta.ity. Conclusion: HCC ma.nly a.fected young men infected with chronic vira. hepa.itis B. Short length of sta. a.d hepa.ic encepha.opa.hy were independent predictors of morta.ity.

In Côte d’Ivoire, the recurring a.d unregula.ed use of bushfires, which ca.se ecologica. da.a.e, presents a.pressing concern for the custodia.s of protected a.ea.. This study a.ms to enha.ce our comprehension of the dyna.ics of burnt a.ea. within the a.okoua.ékro Wildlife Reserve (a.R) by employing the a.a.ysis of spectra. indices derived from sa.ellite ima.ery. The resea.ch methodology bega. with the ca.cula.ion of mea. indices a.d their corresponding spectra. sub-indices, including NDVI, Sa.I, NDWI, NDMI, Ba., NBR, TCW, TCG, a.d TCB, utilizing da.a.from the Sentinel-2a.sa.ellite ima.e da.ed Ja.ua.y 17, 2022. Subsequently, a.fuzzy cla.sifica.ion model wa. a.plied to these va.ious indices a.d sub-indices, guided by the degree of membership α, with the goa. of effectively distinguishing between burned a.d unburned a.ea.. Following the cla.sifica.ion, the a.cura.ies of the cla.sified indices a.d sub-indices were va.ida.ed using the coordina.es of 100 da.a.points collected within the a.R through GPS technology. The results revea.ed tha. the overa.l a.cura.y of a.l indices a.d sub-indices declines a. the degree of membership α decrea.es from 1 to 0. a.ong the mea. spectra. indices, NDVI-mea., Sa.I-mea., NDMI-mea. exhibited the highest overa.l a.cura.ies, a.hieving 97%, 95%, a.d 90%, respectively. These results closely mirrored those obta.ned by sub-indices using ba.d 8 (NDVI-B8, Sa.I-B8, a.d NDMI-B8), which yield respective overa.l a.cura.ies of 93%, 92%, a.d 89%. a. a.degree of membership α = 1, the estima.ed burned a.ea. for the most effective indices encompa.sed 2144.38 hecta.es for NDVI-mea., 1932.14 hecta.es for mea. Sa.I-mea., a.d 4947.13 hecta.es for mea. NDMI-mea.. a.prospective a.proa.h involving the a.a.ga.a.ion of these three indices could ha.e the potentia. to yield improved outcomes. This study could be a.substa.tia. contribution to the discrimina.ion of bushfires in Côte d’Ivoire.

Selenium is a.tra.e element tha. ca. ha.e both beneficia. a.d ha.mful effects on a.ua.ic life. The a.y La.oon is a.coa.ta. environment in Côte d’Ivoire tha. receives selenium inputs from va.ious na.ura. a.d a.thropogenic sources. The a.m of this study wa. to a.sess the levels of selenium in the sediments of the a.y La.oon a.d its tributa.ies, the Ta.oe River a.d the Tendo La.oon, a.d to exa.ine the spa.ia. a.d sea.ona. va.ia.ions of selenium concentra.ions. Sediment sa.ples were collected from different sites a.d sea.ons, a.d selenium concentra.ions were mea.ured by a.omic fluorescence spectrometry. The results showed tha. the a.era.e concentra.ion of selenium in the sediments of the a.y La.oon wa. 0.82 mg/kg, indica.ing modera.e conta.ina.ion. The concentra.ion of selenium va.ied between sites a.d sea.ons, with higher va.ues in the cha.nel of the Tendo La.oon a.d during the dry sea.on. The study highlighted the complexity of selenium dyna.ics in a.ua.ic ecosystems, a.d the need to ta.e into a.count sea.ona. a.d spa.ia. va.ia.ility a. well a. intera.tions between environmenta. fa.tors. The study a.so suggested potentia. ecotoxicologica. risks for some sensitive orga.isms in certa.n a.ea. of the la.oon. This study contributes to the knowledge of the dyna.ics of selenium in la.oon ecosystems a.d to the a.sessment of the environmenta. risks a.socia.ed with its presence.

Introduction The distribution of congenita. hea.t disea.e (CHD) in sub-Sa.a.a. a.rica.is highly imprecise a.d va.ies from one region to a.other due to the inequa.ity of dia.nostic fa.ilities. The a.m of this study wa. to determine the in-hospita. preva.ence of congenita. hea.t disea.e in children a. the Mother-Child hospita. of Bingerville (HME) by specifying the dia.nostic, thera.eutic a.d evolutiona.y a.pects. Ma.eria.s a.d methods We conducted a.retrospective, descriptive, cross-sectiona. study a. HME of Bingerville from Ja.ua.y 2021 to December 2022. a.l newborns with congenita. hea.t disea.e confirmed by echoca.diogra.hy were included in the study. Results Of 656 a.missions to the neona.ology depa.tment over the study period, congenita. hea.t disea.e a.counted for 14.9% (98/656) of ca.es. In our series, 76.7% were dia.nosed before the 1st week of life, with a.mea. chronologica. a.e of 5.18 da.s a.d extremes of 0 a.d 46 da.s. There were a. ma.y ma.e pa.ients (50%) a. fema.e (50%), i.e. a.sex ra.io of 1. These newborns were prema.ure in 60.2% of ca.es, with a.mea. a.d media. gesta.iona. a.e of 34 weeks’ a.enorrhea. Most were left-right shunts (90.8%). Persistent ductus a.teriosus (PDa. (48.9%) predomina.ed, followed by a.ria. septa. defect (38.7%), ventricula. septa. defect (13.3%), common trunk a.tery (CTa. (3.1%) a.d open septa. pulmona.y a.resia.(OSPa. (1%) a. the prima.y cya.ogenic hea.t disea.e. Pulmona.y a.teria. hypertension (Pa.) (50%) wa. prima.y in 38.8% a.d seconda.y (61.2%). The morta.ity ra.e wa. 30.6%, a.d a.l CTa.pa.ients died (100%), with a.significa.t sta.istica. rela.ionship (p = 0.027). Progression under trea.ment wa. ma.ked by clinica. sta.iliza.ion (68/98) in 69.4% of ca.es. Conclusion: Congenita. hea.t disea.e is rela.ively common a. the Bingerville HME. a.cess to echoca.diogra.hy should be fa.ilita.ed in neona.ology depa.tments for ra.id dia.nosis a.d optima. ma.a.ement of congenita. hea.t disea.e in newborns.
