Oxygen evolution reaction(OER)is the key step involved both in water splitting devices and rechargeable metal-air batteries,and hence,there is an urgent need for a stable and low-cost material for efficient OER.In the present investigation,Co-Fe-Ga-NiZn(CFGNZ)high entropy alloy(HEA)has been utilized as a low-cost electrocatalyst for OER.Herein,after cyclic voltammetry activation,CFGNZ-nanoparticles(NPs)are covered with oxidized surface and form high entropy(oxy)hydroxides(HEOs),exhibiting a low overpotential of 370 mV to achieve a current density of 10 mA/cm^(2)with a small Tafel slope of 71 mV/dec.CFGNZ alloy has higher electrochemical stability in comparison to state-of-the art RuO2 electrocatalyst as no degradation has been observed up to 10 h of chronoamperometry.Transmission electron microscopy(TEM)studies after 10 h of long-term chronoamperometry test showed no change in the crystal structure,which confirmed the high stability of CFGNZ.The density functional theory(DFT)based calculations show that the closeness of d(p)-band centers to the Fermi level(EF)plays a major role in determining active sites.This work highlights the tremendous potential of CFGNZ HEA for OER,which is the primary reaction involved in water splitting.

Two-Stent Strategy for Bifurcation Lesions in Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty: Real-World Evidence

Background: Bifurcation lesions pose a high risk for adverse events after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Evidence supporting the benefits of the two-stent strategy (2SS) for treating coronary bifurcation lesions in India is limited. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes of various 2SSs for percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty for bifurcation lesions in India. Materials and Methods: This retrospective, observational, multicentric, real-world study included 64 patients over 8 years. Data on demographics, medical history, PCI procedures, and outcomes were recorded. Descriptive statistics were computed using the SPSS software. Results: Patients (n = 64) had an average age of 65.3 ± 11.1 years, with 78.1% males. Acute coronary syndrome was reported in 18.8%, chronic stable angina in 40.6%, and unstable angina in 34.4% of participants. Two-vessel disease was observed in 98.4% of patients, and 99.4% had true bifurcation lesions. The commonly involved vessels were the left anterior descending artery (50%), left circumflex coronary artery (34.4%), and first diagonal artery (43.8%). Mean percent diameter stenosis was 87.2% ± 10.1%. The mean number of stents used was 2.00 ± 0.34. The 2SS techniques included the T and small protrusion (TAP) (39.1%), double kissing (DK) crush (18.8%), and the culotte techniques (14.1%). Procedural and angiographic success rate was 92.18%. Major adverse cardiovascular events at 1-year follow-up occurred in 7.8% of cases. Conclusion: The 2SS for bifurcation lesions showed favorable in-hospital and follow-up outcomes. Findings can serve as a resource for bifurcation angioplasty in India. Larger real-world studies with robust methodology are needed to validate these results.

The blood-brain barrier is a unique property of central nervous system blood vessels that protects sensitive central nervous system cells from potentially harmful blood components.The mechanistic basis of this barrier is found at multiple levels,including the adherens and tight junction proteins that tightly bind adjacent endothelial cells and the influence of neighboring pericytes,microglia,and astrocyte endfeet.In addition,extracellular matrix components of the vascular basement membrane play a critical role in establishing and maintaining blood-brain barrier integrity,not only by providing an adhesive substrate for blood-brain barrier cells to adhere to,but also by providing guidance cues that strongly influence vascular cell behavior.The extracellular matrix protein laminin is one of the most abundant components of the basement membrane,and several lines of evidence suggest that it plays a key role in directing blood-brain barrier behavior.In this review,we describe the basic structure of laminin and its receptors,the expression patterns of these molecules in central nervous system blood vessels and how they are altered in disease states,and most importantly,how genetic deletion of different laminin isoforms or their receptors reveals the contribution of these molecules to blood-brain barrier function and integrity.Finally,we discuss some of the important unanswered questions in the field and provide a“to-do”list of some of the critical outstanding experiments.

Cellulose is the utmost plenteous source of biopolymer in our earth,and fungi are the most efcient and ubiquitous organism in degrading the cellulosic biomass by synthesizing cellulases.Tailoring through genetic manipulation has played a substantial role in constructing novel fungal strains towards improved cellulase production of desired traits.However,the traditional methods of genetic manipulation of fungi are time-consuming and tedious.With the availability of the full-genome sequences of several industrially relevant flamentous fungi,CRISPR-CAS(clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats/CRISPR-associated protein)technology has come into the focus for the profcient development of manipulated strains of flamentous fungi.This review summarizes the mode of action of cellulases,transcription level regulation for cellulase expression,various traditional strategies of genetic manipulation with CRISPR-CAS technology to develop modifed fungal strains for a preferred level of cellulase production,and the futuristic trend in this arena of research.

Cholangiocarcinomas (CCA) are a group of rare cancers with an incidence of about 1.26 per 100,000 people. The disease reflects one of three different subtypes: intrahepatic, perihilar or hilar and distal cholangiocarcinoma. The preferred modality of definitive therapy is surgical resection with or without adjuvant therapy, however the majority of patients with this disease do not present at an early stage. Some efforts to improve survival rates have come in the form of offering neoadjuvant therapy prior to surgical resection or liver transplantation. Some new protocols are in the process of development for neoadjuvant therapy. Despite advancements in locally advanced or borderline resectable lesions, most patient present at an advanced stage. The mainstay of treatment for advanced stage disease is chemotherapy regardless of location. The mainstay of treatment in fit patients is the combination of gemcitabine and cisplatin. The addition of nab-paclitaxel to this backbone is currently being evaluated in phase III trial. In addition, the role of targeted therapy is currently being studied extensively through multiple different mutational pathways including isocitrate dehydrogenase-1 (IDH1), fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR), epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and ERBB2 (HER2/neu). CCA remains a significant challenge in medicine, however recent studies have shown that there is significant interest in advancing therapy in the form of neoadjuvant, adjuvant and palliative intent treatment.

Background:With the development of rapid and cheap sequencing techniques,the cost of whole-genome sequencing(WGS)has dropped significantly.However,the complexity of the human genome is not limited to the pure sequenceand additional experiments are required to learn the human genome's influence on complex traits.One of the most exciting aspects for scientists nowadays is the spatial organisation of the genome,which can be discovered using spatial experiments(e.g.,Hi-C,ChIA-PET).The information about the spatial contacts helps in the analysis and brings new insights into our understanding of the disease developments.Methods:We have used an ensemble of deep learning with classical machine learning algorithms.The deep learning network we used was DNABERT,which utilises the BERT language model(based on transformers)for the genomic function.The classical machine learning models included support vector machines(SVMs),random forests(RFs),and K-nearest neighbor(KNN).The whole approach was wrapped together as deep hybrid learning(DHL).Results:We found that the DNABERT can be used to predict the ChIA-PET experiments with high precision.Additionally,the DHL approach has increased the metrics on CTCF and RNAPII sets.Conclusions:DHL approach should be taken into consideration for the models utilising the power of deep learning.While straightforward in the concept,it can improve the results significantly.

The recent surge of Ethereum in prominence has made it an attractive target for various kinds of crypto crimes.Phishing scams,for example,are an increasingly prevalent cybercrime in which malicious users attempt to steal funds from a user’s crypto wallet.This research investigates the effects of network architectural features as well as the temporal aspects of user activities on the performance of detecting phishing users on the Ethereum transaction network.We employ traditional machine learning algorithms to evaluate our model on real-world Ethereum transaction data.The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed features identify phishing accounts efficiently and outperform the baseline models by 4%in Recall and 5%in F1-score.

We address space–frequency domain coherence properties of broadband light-emitting diodes(white LEDs) and fields radiated by them. Inverse-source techniques are employed to determine the spectral degree of spatial coherence of an effective planar source representing a real LED, and coherent elementary fields associated with it.By fitting with experimental measurements, we formulate simple analytical coherence models that can be used as a basis for theoretical and experimental studies of the coherence of polychromatic stationary light in free space and in various optical systems. In particular, we find that radiation from white LEDs follows closely Wolf’s scaling law for spectral invariance [Phys. Rev. Lett. 56, 1370(1986)] in the blue and the phosphor-generated parts of the spectrum separately, but not across the entire white-light spectrum.

The popularity of traditional fermented food products is based on their healthiness.The addition of a starter brings consistent,desirable,and predictable food changes with improved nutritive,functional,and sensory qualities.The addition of a mixture of plant residues as a starter or source of microbes is an age-old practice to prepare traditional fermented food and beverages,and most of the reported data on traditional foods were based on the analysis of the fnal product.The contribution of an individual starter component(plant residue)is not experimentally substantiated for any traditional fermented food,but this data are very essential for the formulation of an efective starter.In this study,Asparagus racemosus,which used as a common ingredient of starter for preparation of rice fermented food in the Indian sub-continent,was used as a starter for the preparation of rice fermented food under laboratory scale,and its microbial and nutrient profle was evaluated.The fermented product was a good source of lactic acid bacteria,Bifdobacterium sp.,yeast,etc.The food product was acidic and enriched with lactic acid and acetic acid with titratable acidity of 0.65%.The content of protein,fat,minerals,and vitamins(water-soluble)was considerably improved.Most notably,oligosaccharide(G3-matotriose),unsaturated fatty acids(ω3,ω6,ω7,andω9),and a pool of essential and non-essential amino acids were enriched in the newly formulated food.Thus,the herbal starter-based rice fermented food would provide important macro-and micronutrients.They could also deliver large numbers of active microorganisms for the sustainability of health.Therefore,the selected plant part conferred its suitability as an efective starter for the preparation of healthier rice-based food products.
