The Frequency of the v-AKT Murine Thymoma Viral Oncogene Homologue 1 Gene Amplification among Sudanese Women with Ovarian Cancer: A Cross-Sectional Study

Background: Protein kinase B (AKT/PKB) family is frequently amplified in ovarian cancer (OC). To the greatest of our knowledge, there is a lack of published reports about the amplification of the genes belonging to the AKT family among Sudanese women with OC. The present study was conducted to detect the AKT1 gene amplification and its association with tumour types, grades, and ages among Sudanese women with OC, bearing in mind the ethnic variation. Methods: This institution-based study included 79 cases of women diagnosed with ovarian cancer (OC) at Omdurman Maternity Hospital in the period 2013-2018. Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections were used to extract RNA. AKT1 gene amplification was assessed using quantitative real-time PCR. Results: The mean age (±SD) of included women was 49.29 (±13.612). The amplification of AKT1 gene was observed in 18/79 (22.8%) of OC women, with a high frequency in women with undifferentiated 1/2 (50%), clear cell 2/6 (33.3%), mucinous 3/11 (27.3%), endometrioid 3/17 (17.6%), and serous carcinomas 5/30 OC (16.7%). High frequency was seen in women with low (26.3%;n = 10/28) rather than in higher (19.5%;n = 8/33) grade carcinoma, and in older (25.8%;n = 8/23) rather than younger (18.2%;n = 2/9) women. No significant association between AKT1 gene amplification and tumour types, grades, and ages of women was observed (Fisher’s Exact test: p = 0.405, 0.593 and 0.851, respectively). Conclusion: AKT1 gene amplification arises in around one-fifth of Sudanese women with ovarian cancer (OC). It is seen more in undifferentiated, clear cell, and mucinous tumours types, and more frequently in low tumour grade and older women, but not to a statistically significant level. These outcomes sustenance previous studies suggesting that activated AKT genes have a vital role in OC progression and may offer a plan for targeted therapy and prognostic evaluation.

NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF GROUNDWATER DYNAMICS FOR SONGHUAJIANG RIVER VALLEY IN CHINA

The study area was designed and constructed, based on the simplification of aconceptual model, to develop a three-dimensional groundwater flow model for simulation oftwo-layers system. Finite difference groundwater flow model was constructed for the CentralSonghuajiang River alluvial plain in Northeast China, with the coverage of 786. 6km^2. The gridnetworks with a spacing of 474. 4m by 509. 5m were used to cover the model area. The trial-and-errortechnique was used to calibrate the model. The sensitivity of the simulations to the modelparameters was studied -and the most sensitive parameters that controlling the residual headsdistribution in the Songhuajiang River valley were defined.

CONSERVATION LAWS FOR THE (1+2)-DIMENSIONAL WAVE EQUATION IN BIOLOGICAL ENVIRONMENT

The derivation of conservation laws for the wave equation on sphere, cone and flat space is considered. The partial Noether approach is applied for wave equation on curved surfaces in terms of the coefficients of the first fundamental form （FFF） and the partial Noether operator＇s determining equations are derived. These determining equations are then used to construct the partial Noether operators and conserved vectors for the wave equation on different surfaces. The conserved vectors for the wave equation on the sphere, cone and fiat space are simplified using the Lie point symmetry generators of the equation and conserved vectors with the help of the symmetry conservation laws relation.

On stability behaviors of 5D M-theory black objects

Using N=2 supergravity formalism,we investigate certain behaviors of five-dimensional black objects from the compactification of M-theory on a Calabi-Yau *** manifold has been constructed as the intersection of two homogeneous polynomials of degrees(ω+2,1)and(2,1)in a product of two weighted projective spaces given by WP^(4)(ω,1,1,1,1)×P^(1).First,we determine the allowed electric charge regions of the BPS and non BPS black holes obtained by wrapping M2-branes on appropriate two cycles in such a proposed Calabi-Yau *** that,we calculate the entropy of these solutions which takes a maximal value corresponding to ω=1 defining the ordinary projective space P^(4).For generic values of ω,we show that the non BPS states are ***,we conduct a similar study of five-dimensional black *** the allowed magnetic charge regions of the BPS and non BPS black stringy solutions derived from M5-branes on dual divisors,we calculate the tension taking a minimal value for P^(4).By determining the recombination factor,we show that the non-BPS black string states are stable in the allowed regions in the magnetic charge space.

Vibrational frequency analysis of finite elastic tube filled with compressible viscous fluid

The vibrational frequency analysis of finite elastic tube filled with compressible viscous fluid has received plenty of attention in recent years. To apply frequency analysis to defect detection for example, it is necessary to investigate the vibrational behavior under appropriate boundary conditions. In this paper, we present a detailed theoretical study of the three dimensional modal analysis of compressible fluid within an elastic cylinder. The dispersion equations of flexura], torsional and longitudinal modes are derived by elastodynamic theory and the unsteady Stokes equation. The symbolic software Mathematica is used in order to find the coupled vibration frequencies. The dispersion equation is deduced and analytically solved. The finite element results are compared with the present method for validation and an acceptable match between them are obtained.

Entropy generation analysis for the peristaltic flow of Cu-water nanofluid in a tube with viscous dissipation

The purpose of the current investigation is to examine the influence of different physical parameters on the entropy gene- ration. The entropy generation number due to heat transfer and fluid friction is formulated. The velocity and temperature distributions across the tube are presented along with pressure attributes. Exact analytical solution for velocity and temperature profile is obtained. It is found that the entropy generation number attains high values in the region close to the walls of the tube, while it falls to low values near the center of the tube.

Association of Hyperhomocysteinaemia with Hyperglycaemia, Dyslipidaemia, Hypertension and Obesity

There is conflicting scientific data about the link between, high homocysteine (Hcy) levels in the general population, and obesity. This is a case-control study aimed to assess the role of hyperhomocysteinemia in obesity and its associated illnesses, including hypertension, dyslipidemia, and hyperglycemia in Gezira state, Sudan. Two hundred and eleven participants were included in the study, 140 were obese (117 females and 23 males) and 71 were normal weight control, the obese median age was 49.49 ± 12.2 years. The control group consisted of 71 individuals with an average age of 45.78 ± 17.67 years. Among those who were already known to be obese, 67 (47.9%) reported having type II diabetes mellitus, 71 (50.7%) reported having hypertension, and 35 (25%) were obese without having either diabetes or hypertension. Three mls of venous blood from each participant were collected in the morning after a 12 h overnight fasting in Lithium heparin containers then the plasma was separated and stored at -80°C for analysis. Serum Hcy and lipid profile were measured using the enzymatic method by Cobas C 411 analyzer. In comparison to obese non-hypertensive, the results showed that obese hypertensive with Hcy levels > 15 mol/L had a considerably increased risk (OR 1.12). When Hcy levels > 15 mol/L were compared to obese diabetics and obese non-diabetics, insignificant difference was shown (P: 0.345). Males had a higher likelihood of having hyperhomocysteinemia than females did (OR 1.2). Homocysteine, cholesterol triglyceride, LDL, and HDL mean values were compared between case and control groups using the independent sample t-test, and the results revealed statistically significant (P: <0.05). Relationships between hyperhomocysteinaemia and cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL, and HDL in the group of obese individuals were not statistically significant (P: 0.574, 0.265, 0.748, and 0.14), respectively. Influence of Tb on easy magnetization direction and magnetostriction of ferromagnetic Laves phase GdFe_2 compounds

The crystal structure,magnetization,and spontaneous magnetostriction of ferromagnetic Laves phase Gd Fe2 compound have been *** resolution synchrotron x-ray diffraction（XRD） analysis shows that Gd Fe2 has a lower cubic symmetry with easy magnetization direction（EMD） along [100] below Curie temperature *** replacement of Gd with a small amount of Tb changes the EMD to [111].The Curie temperature decreases while the field dependence of the saturation magnetization（Ms） measured in temperature range 5–300 K varies with increasing Tb *** Hc increases with increasing Tb concentration and decays exponentially as temperature *** anisotropy in Gd Fe2 is so weak that some of the rare-earth substitution plays an important role in determining the easy direction of magnetization in GdFe_*** calculated magnetostrictive constant λ100 shows a small value of 37×10^（-6）.This value agrees well with experimental data 30×10^（-6）.Under a relatively small magnetic field,GdFe_2 exhibits a V-shaped positive magnetostriction *** the field is further increased,the crystal exhibits a negative magnetostriction *** phenomenon has been discussed in term of magnetic domain ***,magnetostriction increases with increasing Tb *** work leads to a simple and unified mesoscopic explanation for magnetostriction in *** may also provide insight for developing novel functional materials.
