Assessment of corrected time-step method for nominal ionospheric gradient calculation: A comparative analysis with spatial approaches

The effect of ionospheric delay on the ground-based augmentation system under normal conditions can be mitigated by determining the value of the nominal ionospheric gradient(σvig).The nominal ionospheric gradient is generally obtained from Continuously Operating Reference Stations data by using the spatial single-difference method(mixed-pair,station-pair,or satellite-pair)or the temporal single-difference method(time-step).The time-step method uses only a single receiver,but it still contains ionospheric temporal *** introduce a corrected time-step method using a fixed-ionospheric pierce point from the geostationary equatorial orbit satellite and test it through simulations based on the global ionospheric *** also investigate the effect of satellite paths on the corrected time-step method in the region of the equator,which tends to be in a more north–south direction and to have less coverage for the east–west ionospheric *** study also addresses the limitations of temporal variation correction coverage and recommends using only the correction from *** processes are developed under simulations because observational data are still difficult to *** findings demonstrate that the corrected time-step method yieldsσvig values consistent with other approaches.

On February 6,2023,two earthquakes with magnitudes of M_(W) 7.8 and M_(W) 7.5 struck southeastern Turkey,causing significant casualties and economic *** seismic events occurred along the East Anatolian Fault Zone,a convergent boundary between the Arabian Plate and the Anatolian *** this study,we analyze the M_(W) 7.8 and M_(W) 7.5 earthquakes by comparing their aftershock relocations,tomographic images,and stress field *** earthquakes were localized in the upper crust and exhibited steep dip ***,the aftershocks occurred either close to the boundaries of low and high P-wave velocity anomaly zones or within the low P-wave velocity anomaly *** East Anatolia Fault,associated with the M_(W) 7.8 earthquake,and the SürgüFault,related to the M_(W) 7.5 earthquake,predominantly experienced shear ***,their western sections experienced a combination of strike-slip and tensile stresses in addition to shear *** ruptures of the M_(W) 7.8 and M_(W) 7.5 earthquakes appear to have bridged a seismic gap that had seen sparse seismicity over the past 200 years prior to the 2023 Turkey earthquake sequence.

The Role of Plantain in Promoting Food Security: A Review

Plantain is a food security crop of significant nutritional value in the global south. Yet there are significant post-harvest losses, especially at the senescent stage. This review seeks to give a general overview of the crop, its nutritional significance and the technologies that can be adopted to enhance its utilisation at its senescent stage. In West Africa, plantains are eaten at all ripening stages, yet processing is limited to the unripe and semi-ripe. Adoptable technologies such as foam-mat drying will enhance its utilisation in indigenous meals and other food applications. This review provides useful insight to optimize the use of plantain to prevent food waste.

Indonesia is one of the largest coconut-producing countries in the *** utilization of coconut shell waste into briquettes will increase the selling value and become a great export ***,the effect of adhesives on the quality of coconut shell charcoal briquettes made using screw extruder machine has not been widely *** study aims to determine the effect of adhesive type on the quality of coconut shell charcoal *** process of fabricating briquettes in this study included crushing,mixing,blending,pressing,and *** the mixing process,3 types of adhesives were used,namely tapioca flour(Briquette_1),cassava flour(Briquette_2),and modified cassava flour(Briquette_3)with a concentration of 5%of the weight of coconut shell charcoal *** quality of the resulting briquettes and commercial briquettes will be evaluated by moisture content,ash content,volatile matter,fixed carbon,calorific value,density,compressive,and drop test *** results of this research showed that the type of adhesive had a significant effect on the quality of the briquettes *** Briquette_1 had better quality than commercial briquettes(Briquette_4)and other briquette *** test results showed that Briquette_1 produced briquettes with better compressive strength and friability than the other specimens,at 6.95 N/mm^(2) and 4.44%,*** moisture content,ash content,fixed carbon,and calorific value of Briquette_1 have met the requirements set by the Indonesian National Standard(SNI)number ***,the volatile matter content and density of Briquette_1 are by the standards of Japan and the United States America(USA).

高黏度油田采出水通常呈现乳浊液的状态,难以实现油水分离。本文采用共沉淀法制备Fe_(3)O_(4)纳米颗粒,在超声波辅助下将聚多巴胺(PDA)与纳米Fe_(3)O_(4)键合,制得Fe_(3)O_(4)/PDA复合材料,并采用FTIR、显微镜、物理吸附仪等表征。在交变磁场作用下,实现油田采出水破乳,达到油水分离的目的。并考察了Fe_(3)O_(4)/PDA复合材料稳定循环使用次数、交变磁场频率对回收油相效率的影响。结果表明,在极低磁场频率6.0 Hz下,所制备材料可稳定循环使用11次,为油田采出水重复利用和高附加值油相的回收利用提供了有效、便捷的方法。

Effect of La^(3+)substitution on structural,microstructure,magnetic properties,and microwave absorbing ability of yttrium iron garnet

Synthesis and characterization of lanthanum-doped yttrium iro n garnet(YIG)in the compositional se ries of Y_(3-x)La_(x)Fe_(5)O_(12)(x=0.0,0.1,0.3,and 0.5)were carried *** compositions were made by using solid state reaction method with ball-milling *** phase formation,surface morphology,magnetic properties,and microwave absorbing ability of all compositions were characterized by using an X-ray diffractometer,a scanning electron microscope,a vibrating sample magnetometer,and a Vector network *** results reveal that all compositions are crystallized into Y_(3)Fe_(5)O_(12)phase(space group la-3d(230).It was observed that the lattice constant is increased from 1.2373 to 1.2421 nm with the increase of lanthanum substitution level from x=*** crystallite size of Y_(3-x)La_(x)Fe_(5)O_(12)series calculated by Scherrer method is found to decrease from 78 nm in x=0.0-63 nm in x=*** particle size distribution from the surface morphology image analysis is shifted to lower-range number with the increase of lanthanum substitution level from x=0.0 to *** substitution process also affects the lattice distortion in La-doped samples and changes the bond angles and bond lengths of the YIG *** the results,a linear correlation between the Fe'-O-Fe bond angle with magnetic properties parameters of saturation magnetization(M_(s))and remanence magnetization(M_(r))was *** to the lanthanum substitution process,all La^(3+)-doped samples possess higher M_(s)and M_(r)values compared to the original *** results of Vector network analyzer show that the improvement of the M_(s)and M_(r)plays an important role in enhancing the microwave absorbing ability of the *** minimum RL changes from-8.22 dB(~85.22%microwave absorption)in x=0.0 to-14.21 dB(~96.25%microwave absorption)in x=*** enhancement is mainly ascribed to the natural magnetic resonance loss and dipoIe-polarization loss due to the substitution *** decr

Long-term conservation tillage results in a more balanced soil microbiological activity and higher nutrient supply capacity

Soil health depletion due to intensive tillage operations is a global issue in the agricultural *** tillage(CT)which involves non-inversion tillage and leaving~30%of the soil surface covered with crop residues,is a strategy designed to enhance soil ***,no comprehensive study to investigate the long-term effect of CT on soil biological activity and the soil nutrient supply has yet been widely carried *** and chemical soil properties were assessed at depths 0-5,10-15,and 20-25 cm depths after 18 years of CT and conventional tillage practice(PT).Various stages in the vegetative growth of maize were investigated in 2021 in *** findings indicated that tillage intensity,soil depth,and growth stages all significantly influenced soil enzyme activities and the concentration of soil *** soil disturbance resulted in a significantly larger concentration of soil carbon parameters(total organic carbon and labile carbon)in CT plots,where the activity ofβ-glucosidase and dehydrogenase(DHA)in the upper soil layer increased significantly(0.7-2.6 and 2.6-4.7 times,respectively)compared to *** high amount of organic matter and the greater resistance to erosion observed in CT also contributed to the higher concentration of available nutrients(NH_(4),NO_(3),Ca,K)and total P in the surface soil *** activity was highest in the mid-stage of vegetative growth and was positively correlated to the total P *** alterations in soil water content were clearly negatively corelated with the change in DHA and phosphatase ***,due to the more balanced environmental conditions,the decomposition of organic substances was more balanced and slower in CT than in *** implied that the mobilization of nutrients in the soil was more balanced as well,and that the nutrients were released *** enhancement of the soil nutrient-supplying capacity achieved by means of long-term conservation tillage provid

Foragers use several senses to locate food,and many animals rely on vision and *** is beneficial not to rely on a single sense,which might fail under certain *** examined the contribution of vision and smell to foraging and maze exploration under laboratory conditions using Cataglyphis desert ants as a *** intensity,measured as the number of workers entering the maze and arriving at the target as well as target arrival time,were greater when food,blue light,or both were offered or presented in contrast to a *** trained to forage for a combined food and light cue elevated their foraging intensity with ***,foraging intensity was not higher when using both cues simultaneously than in either one of the two *** training,we split between the two cues and moved either the food or the blue light to the opposite maze *** manipulation impaired foraging success by either leading to fewer workers arriving at the target cell(when the light stayed and the food was moved)or to more workers arriving at the opposite target cell,empty of food(when the food stayed and the light was moved).This result indicates that ant workers use both senses when foraging for food and readily associate light with food.

Anomaly detection on displacement rates and deformation pattern features using tree-based algorithm in Japan and Indonesia

Research on strain anomalies and large earthquakes based on temporal and spatial crustal activities has been rapidly growing due to data availability, especially in Japan and Indonesia. However, many research works used local-scale case studies that focused on a specific earthquake characteristic using knowledgedriven techniques, such as crustal deformation analysis. In this study, a data-driven-based analysis is used to detect anomalies using displacement rates and deformation pattern features extracted from daily global navigation satellite system(GNSS) data using a machine learning algorithm. The GNSS data with188 and 1181 continuously operating reference stations from Indonesia and Japan, respectively, are used to identify the anomaly of recent major earthquakes in the last two decades. Feature displacement rates and deformation patterns are processed in several window times with 2560 experiment scenarios to produce the best detection using tree-based algorithms. Tree-based algorithms with a single estimator(decision tree), ensemble bagging(bagging, random forest and Extra Trees), and ensemble boosting(AdaBoost, gradient boosting, LGBM, and XGB) are applied in the study. The experiment test using realtime scenario GNSSdailydatareveals high F1-scores and accuracy for anomaly detection using slope windowing 365 and 730 days of 91-day displacement rates and then 7-day deformation pattern features in tree-based algorithms. The results show the potential for medium-term anomaly detection using GNSS data without the need for multiple vulnerability assessments.
