We report for the first time the geochemistry of rare earth elements（REE） in the weathered crusts of I-type and calc-alkaline to high-K（shoshonitic） granitic rocks at Mamasa and Palu region, Sulawesi Island, Indonesia. The weathered crusts can be divided into horizon A（lateritic profile） and B（weathered horizon）. Quartz, albite, kaolinite, halloysite and montmorrilonite prevail in the weathered crust. Both weathered profiles show that the total REE increased from the parent rocks to the horizon B but significantly decrease toward the upper part（horizon A）. LREE are enriched toward the upper part of the profile as shown by La/YbN value. However, HREE concentrations are high in horizon B1 in Palu profile. The total REE content of the weathered crust are relatively elevated compared to the parent rocks, particularly in the lower part of horizon B in Mamasa profile and in horizon B2 in Palu profile. This suggests that REE-bearing accessory minerals may be resistant against weathering and may remain as residual phase in the weathered crusts. The normalized isocon diagram shows that the mass balance of major and REE components between each horizon in Mamasa and Palu weathering profile are different. The positive Ce anomaly in the horizon A of Mamasa profile indicated that Ce is rapidly precipitated during weathering and retain at the upper soil horizon.

Many insects feed on a low‐nitrogen diet,and the origin of their nitrogen supply is poorly *** has been hypothesized that some insects rely on nitrogen‐fixing bacteria(diazotrophs)to supplement their *** fixation by diazotrophs has been extensively studied and convincingly demonstrated in termites,while evidence for the occurrence and role of nitrogen fixation in the diet of other insects is less ***,we summarize the methods to detect nitrogen fixation in insects and review the available evidence for its occurrence(focusing on insects other than termites).We distinguish between three aspects of nitrogen fixation investigations:(i)detecting the presence of potential diazotrophs;(ii)detecting the activity of the nitrogen‐fixing enzyme;and(iii)detecting the assimilation of fixed nitrogen into the insect *** show that although evidence from investigations of the first aspect reveals ample opportunities for interactions with potential diazotrophs in a variety of insects,demonstrations of actual biological nitrogen fixation and the assimilation of fixed nitrogen are restricted to very few insect groups,including wood‐feeding beetles,fruit flies,leafcutter ants,and a wood *** then discuss potential implications for the insect's fitness and for the ecosystem as a *** suggest that combining these multiple approaches is crucial for the study of nitrogen fixation in insects,and argue that further demonstrations are desperately needed in order to determine the relative importance of diazotrophs for insect diet and fitness,as well as to evaluate their overall impact on the ecosystem.

Objectives:Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)-,thin-layer chromatography(TLC)-,and highperformance liquid chromatography(HPLC)-sensitive methods were used for the identification of aflatoxin B1(AFB1)contaminated fish feed,media,and fish serum *** and Methods:The ELISA,TLC,and HPLC methods were validated by the quantitative and qualitative determination of AFB1 in contaminated fish feed,media,and fish blood serum ***:The primary identification of AFB1 was carried out with a DOA-ELISA test kit ELISA followed by TLC with RF values 0.81,0.79,0.81,and 0.80 of AFB1-contaminated fish feed,media,and serum samples,respectively,compared with AFB1 *** results show that the AFB1 levels in contaminated fish feed,media,and serum samples were 2.6,2.6,and 2.7 ng/mL,concentrations *** level of concentrations of AFB1 was almost similar in all three samples,but slightly higher in the fish serum sample with,2.7 ng/***,the present method is strongly recommended for monitoring AFB1 contamination in feed stuffs,especially in fisheries where the feed is under continuous exposure to ***:This method is accurate and more sensitive when compared with routine conventional AFB1 detection methods,and is highly applicable in aquaculture and fisheries to screen the mycotoxins in fish feed.

Dispersion of multi-walled carbon nanotubes in poly(p-phenylene) thin films and their electrical characteristics

Dispersion of multi-walled carbon nanotubes in poly（p-phenylene） composite exposed to toluene was experimentally investigated. 3 mg of multi-walled carbon nanotubes with nominal size of 20 nm was compounded with 30 mg of poly（p-phenylene） with the presence of terpineol as binding initiator. To investigate an optimal condition for homogenizing all constituents, ultrasonication with an output power of 750W was employed with compounding time of 3, 10, 20 and 30 min. With FTIR analyses, it could be confirmed that homogeneous composite of multi-walled carbon nanotubes and poly（p-phenylene） could be prepared. SEM analyses were also conducted to examine the dispersion of multi-walled carbon nanotubes in the polymer matrix. Then intrinsic electrical resistance of the composites after being exposed to toluene was also investigated. It was found that the composite film prepared with ultrasonication for 20 min could provide sufficiently sensitive response with respect to varied concentration of toluene.

Background:For over 40 years,the franchise ownership redirection hypothesis has attracted the attention of many *** study,differing from previous ones,proposes an alternative approach for this hypothesis using a real options framework with the extension of agency ***:The real options model is built using the least square Monte Carlo method,where the franchisor’s decision to franchise is perceived as a deferred investment while maintaining the right of future ***:Tested using monte carlo simulation based hypothetical case,the model shows a different result from classical real options call *** is mainly due to franchise contractual arrangement,where royalty fee lower the threshold of acquisition cost in converting the franchise outlet to company ***:The aim of this study is to create an analytical framework that helps a franchisor decide whether or not toacquire and convert a franchise unit to a company-owned unit at a certain point in time,analyzing the choice as a deferment of *** franchisors that faces the opportunity to optimize profit by converting the franchise unit to a company-owned unit should acknowledge it as real options thus negotiate the terms with their franchisees.

Non-invasive fluorescence retinal imaging in small animals is an important requirement for an array of translational vision *** in vivo two-photon imaging of the mouse retina may enable the long-term investigation of the structure and function of healthy and diseased retinal ***,to date,this has only been possible using relatively complex adaptive-optics ***,the optical modeling of the murine eye and of the imaging system is used to achieve correction-free two-photon microscopy through the pupil of a mouse eye to yield high-quality,optically sectioned fundus *** remotely scanning the focus using an electronically tunable lens,high-resolution three-dimensional fluorescein angiograms and cellular-scale images are acquired,thus introducing a correction-free baseline performance level for two-photon in vivo retinal ***,the system enables functional calcium imaging of repeated retinal responses to light stimulation using the genetically encoded indicator,*** results and the simplicity of the new add-on optics are an important step toward several structural,functional,and multimodal imaging applications that will benefit from the tight optical sectioning and the use of near-infrared light.

Context:Trigonella foenum-graecum(TriFG)exhibits increased scavenger enzymatic activities and reduces the production of reactive oxygen species in diabetic ***:The present study was aimed to investigate the effect of TriFG on lipid peroxidation levels and antioxidant status in brain tissue of rats exposed to *** and Methods:Healthy male rats(180±10 g)were allocated into five *** in group 1 maintained on normal tap water served as controls and rats in groups 2,3,4,and 5 were treated as experimental *** in group 2 were intraperitoneally injected with alloxan(120 mg/kg BW)and treated as diabetic rats,whereas rats in groups 3 and 4 were maintained on same experimental regimen as that of rats in groups 1 and 2,respectively,and in addition,they were orally gavaged with herbal extracts of TriFG(0.25 g/kg BW).Diabetic rats treated with glibenclamide in group 5 were used as positive *** and Discussion:Significant(P<0.001)increase in the antioxidant enzymes with a significant(P<0.001)decrease in the lipid peroxidation levels were observed in the brain tissue of diabetic rats treated with TriFG extract as compared to diabetic and glibenclamide-treated *** significant changes were observed in pro-and antioxidant levels in brain tissue of rats treated with TriFG extract alone when compared to normal *** diabetic rats,brain mitochondrial and cytosolic enzymes like succinate dehydrogenase,glutamate dehydrogenase,and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase activity levels were significantly(P<0.05)decreased with reversely increased was observed in lactate dehydrogenase activity(P<0.05).Conclusions:The findings of the present study suggested that TriFG,through its antioxidant properties,protects brain tissue by mitigating oxidative stress induced by alloxan-exposed *** extract significantly increased the antioxidant and oxidative properties in diabetic rats when compared with the control group rats.
