Background:Syrian juniper is an economically important species and in danger of *** these reasons,the best seedling production methods of the species should be determined and its plantations should be *** aim of the study is to examine the impacts of altitude and different pretreatment combinations of cold and warm stratifications,citric acid,shaking seeds in bottles with crushed glass,and different stimulating agents including Baikal Em1,Biohumus,Polystimulin A6 and K hormones(PS-A6 and PS-K)on seed germination of Syrian *** conduct the study,the cones of the Syrian junipers were collected from three different altitudes(1000,1200,and 1400 m a.s.l.)within the boundaries of Forest management Directorate of Bozyazı,mersin in *** seeds were subjected to three replicates per one treatment(altitude in interaction with pretreatment).There were 100 seeds per ***:Two-way ANOVA revealed significant effects of altitude,pretreatment,and their interaction on seedling emergence of Syrian *** from higher altitudes had higher germination rates in all *** highest percent emergence(85%)was recorded in the combination consisting of shaking with crushed glass,both cold and warm stratification,and successive application of stimulators PS-A6 and *** the treatments with most germinating seeds encompassed shaking in crushed glass or soaking in citric acid,both warm and cold stratifications,and application of stimulating ***:The use of seeds from higher altitudes should be considered for seedling production of Syrian juniper due to their higher germination *** altitudinal differences,specific pretreatments can rise germination potential more than twofold.

motor versus Sensory Nerve Conduction monitoring of median Nerve during Carpal Tunnel Surgery

Background/Aim: Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is one of the most common compressive, canalicular neuropathies of the upper extremities, causing hand pain and impaired function. This clinical study was designed to compare the intraoperative median nerve distal motor latency (DmL) versus the distal sensory latency (DSL) and sensory nerve conduction velocity (SNCV) during surgical treatment of CTS. Patients and methods: A total number of 36 wrists in 30 patients with CTS diagnosed by preoperative median mNCS who underwent surgical intervention for median nerve release. Intraoperative measurements of motor distal latency (DmL) and proximal latency, amplitude, and conduction velocity and distal sensory latency (DSL), amplitude, and conduction velocity of both the median and ulnar nerves before and after division of the flexor retinaculum (FR). Results: A significant decrease of the intraoperative median nerve distal motor latency (DmL) after release (8.89 ± 0.93) in comparison with the preoperative median nerve DmL (6.24 ± 1.06) with (p al sensory latency (DSL) and sensory nerve conduction velocity (SNCVm) show non-significant decrease (p = 0.161). Conclusion: Intraoperative monitoring of median nerve show rapidly improve Intraoperative motor nerve conduction than the sensory nerve conduction after release the FR during carpal tunnel surgery.

Drainage vs. non-drainage after cholecystectomy for acute cholecystitis:a retrospective study

many surgeons practice prophylactic drainage after cholecystectomy without reliable evidence,this study was conducted to answer the question whether to drain or not to drain after cholecystectomy for acute calculous cholecystitis.A retrospective review of all patients who had cholecystectomy for acute cholecystitis in Aseer Central Hospital,Abha,Saudi Arabia,was conducted from April 2010 to April *** were extracted from hospital case *** data included clinical presentation,routine investigations and liver function *** data included excessive adhesions,bleeding,bile leak,and drain *** cases such as pericholecystic collections,mucocele and empyema were also *** who needed therapeutic drainage were *** data included hospital stay,volume of drained fluid,time of drain removal,and drain site *** study included 103 patients allocated into two groups;group A（n = 38） for patients with operative drain insertion and group B（n = 65） for patients without drain *** number of patients with preoperative diagnosis of acute non-complicated cholecystitis was significantly greater in group B（80%） than group A（36.8%）（P 〈 0.001）.Operative time was significantly longer in group *** patients who were converted from laparoscopic to open cholecystectomy were in group *** analysis revealed that hospital stay was significantly（P 〈 0.001） longer in patients with preoperative *** was no added benefit for prophylactic drain insertion after cholecystectomy for acute calculous cholecystitis in non-complicated or in complicated cases.

Nuclear fuel performance modeling and simulation are critical tasks for nuclear fuel design optimization and safety analysis under normal and transient *** performance is a complicated phenomenon that involves thermal,mechanical,and irradiation mechanisms and requires special multiphysics *** this study,a fuel performance model was developed using the COmSOL multiphysics *** modeling was performed for a 2D axis-symmetric geometry of a UO2fuel pellet in the E110 clad for VVER-1200 *** modeling considers all relevant phenomena,including heat generation and conduction,gap heat transfer,elastic strain,mechanical contact,thermal expansion,grain growth,densification,fission gas generation and release,fission product swelling,gap/plenum pressure,and cladding thermal and irradiation *** model was validated using a code-to-code evaluation of the fuel pellet centerline and surface temperatures in the case of constant power,in addition to validation of fission gas release(FGR)*** prediction proved that the model could perform according to previously published VVER nuclear fuel performance parameters.A sensitivity study was also conducted to assess the effects of uncertainty on some of the model *** model was then used to predict the VVER-1200 fuel performance parameters as a function of burnup,including the temperature profiles,gap width,fission gas release,and plenum pressure.A compilation of related material and thermomechanical models was conducted and included in the modeling to allow the user to investigate different material/performance *** the model was developed for normal operating conditions,it can be modified to include off-normal operating conditions.

Involvement of Quebracho tannins in diet alters productive and reproductive efficiency of postpartum buffalo cows

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of 10 weeks supplementation of Quebracho tannins(QT; 0 [control], 100 [QT100] or 200 g/[cow$d] [QT_(200)]) to 30 multiparous postpartum buffalo cows(10 cows per group) on milk yield and composition, blood metabolites and reproductive *** of QT100 had no significant effect on milk yield, whereas QT_(200) decreased(P mpared with the control group, both QT levels decreased(P milk(FCm)yield, but no significant effects were found on percentages of milk fat and protein. Contrariwise, yields of milk fat, lactose and milk protein were decreased(P mented. The solids nonfat(SNF) percentage and yield were decreased(P mentation. moreover, QT tended to numerically reduce total number of ovarian follicles, number of small follicles, peripheral progesterone concentration and conception rate. Supplementation of QT_(200) numerically increased number of large follicles, mean diameter of large follicle, number and diameters of corpora lutea. The inclusion of QT_(200) shortened days open(DO) and decreased number of services per ***, QT did not show significant effects on serum total protein, albumin, globulin, glucose,cholesterol and triglycerides concentrations. Supplementation of QT100 caused an increase(P m urea compared with that in control and QT_(200) groups. Generally, QT decreased(P m creatinine concentration. Therefore, the supplementation of a commercial QT to early lactating Egyptian buffalo cows displayed negative consequences on their productive and reproductive performances.

The exponential increase in new coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)cases and deaths has made COVID-19 the leading cause of death in many ***,in this study,we propose an efficient technique for the automatic detection of COVID-19 and pneumonia based on X-ray images.A stacked denoising convolutional autoencoder(SDCA)model was proposed to classify X-ray images into three classes:normal,pneumonia,and *** SDCA model was used to obtain a good representation of the input data and extract the relevant features from noisy *** proposed model’s architecture mainly composed of eight autoencoders,which were fed to two dense layers and Softmax *** proposed model was evaluated with 6356 images from the datasets from different *** experiments and evaluation of the proposed model were applied to an 80/20 training/validation split and for five cross-validation data splitting,*** metrics used for the SDCA model were the classification accuracy,precision,sensitivity,and specificity for both *** results demonstrated the superiority of the proposed model in classifying X-ray images with high accuracy of 96.8%.Therefore,this model can help physicians accelerate COVID-19 diagnosis.

Vitamin D status and viral response to therapy in hepatitis C infected children

AIm: To study the frequency of vitamin D deficiency in patients with hepatitis C virus(HCV) infection and to evaluate the role of vitamin D supplementation in improving antiviral ***: Sixty-six children aged from 7-14 years(mean ± SD, 11.17 ± 2.293) diagnosed with HCV infection were matched to 28 healthy controls. Serum levels of 25(OH) D3, calcium, phosphorus, alkaline phosphatase and plasma level of parathormone were measured. Quantitative PCR for HCV was performed Bone density was determined by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry. all cases received conventional therapy, and only 33 patients received vitamin D ***: Children with HCV showed significantly increased levels of HCV RNA(P mone(P min D levels(P mpared with controls. Abnormal bone status(Z score-1.98 ± 0.75) was found in ribs, L-spine, pelvis and total body. Cases treated with vitamin D showed significant higher early(P al response. There was a high frequency of vitamin D deficiency among the Egyptian HCV children, with significant decrease in bone density. The vitamin D level should be assessed before the start of antiviral treatment with the correction of any detected deficiency. CONCLUSION: Adding vitamin D to conventional Peg/RBV therapy significantly improved the virological response and helped to prevent the risk of emerging bone fragility.

Double J Fixation after Craniotomy: Technical Description of a modification method for Bone Flap Fixation (Hiederov method)

Background: Fixation of bone flap following craniotomy is usually achieved by synthetic materials. In rural and poor funding areas, innovation for cheap, safe and applicable material is needed. Purpose: The aim is to assess our new innovative technique in bone flap fixation against traditional techniques. Patients and methods: The study was a prospective randomized controlled study enrolled at al-Amal Hospital and al-Ahly Bank Hospital from 2014-2019. Forty-eight patients were randomized in the study. Group A (24 patients) underwent titanium miniplate fixation while group B (24 patients) underwent our new technique. The new technique is double J tunnels performed by craniotome on either side of the bone (flap and skull sides), then a Prolene suture is passed through the shared stem of J’ holes and secured in the wrapped side of J’s holes and tying it tightly. Both techniques were examined against fixation time, rigidity, offset and final judgment postoperatively. Result: There was no statistically significant difference in using both techniques as regard fixation time. Our new technique was not inferior to the traditional one in achieving rigidity (p > 0.05). The final postoperative assessment was as equal as that seen in miniplate fixation. Conclusion: This technique is a simple, easy, cheap and effective method of fixing craniotomy bone flap.
