Plant diseases prediction is the essential technique to prevent the yield loss and gain high production of agricultural *** monitoring of plant health continuously and detecting the diseases is a signiﬁcant for sustainable *** system to monitor the diseases in plant is time consuming and report a lot of *** is high demand for technology to detect the plant dis-eases *** image processing approach and deep learning approach are highly invited in detection of plant *** diseases like late blight,bacterial spots,spots on Septoria leaf and yellow leaf curved are widely found in *** are the main reasons to affects the plants life and *** identify the diseases earliest,our research presents the hybrid method by com-bining the region based convolutional neural network(RCNN)and region based fully convolutional networks(RFCN)for classifying the *** the leaf images of plants are collected and preprocessed to remove noisy data in *** data normalization,augmentation and removal of background noises are *** images are divided as testing and training,training images are fed as input to deep learning ***,we identify the region of interest(RoI)by using selective *** every region,feature of convolutional neural network(CNN)is extracted independently for further classiﬁ*** plants such as tomato,potato and bell pepper are taken for this *** plant input image is analyzed and classify as healthy plant or unhealthy *** the image is detected as unhealthy,then type of diseases the plant is affected will be *** proposed technique achieves 98.5%of accuracy in predicting the plant diseases.

Internet of Things (IoT) among of all the technology revolutions has been considered the next evolution of the internet. IoT has become a far more popular area in the computing world. IoT combined a huge number of things (devices) that can be connected through the internet. The purpose: this paper aims to explore the concept of the Internet of Things (IoT) generally and outline the main definitions of IoT. The paper also aims to examine and discuss the obstacles and potential benefits of IoT in Saudi universities. Methodology: the researchers reviewed the previous literature and focused on several databases to use the recent studies and research related to the IoT. Then, the researchers also used quantitative methodology to examine the factors affecting the obstacles and potential benefits of IoT. The data were collected by using a questionnaire distributed online among academic staff and a total of 150 participants completed the survey. Finding: the result of this study reveals there are twelve factors that affect the potential benefits of using IoT such as reducing human errors, increasing business income and worker’s productivity. It also shows the eighteen factors which affect obstacles the IoT use, for example sensors’ cost, data privacy, and data security. These factors have the most influence on using IoT in Saudi universities.

Background: Worldwide data shows that the stigma and discrimination for AIDS patients by health care providers have a negative impact on its epidemic. It discourages people from seeking care or being tested for HIV, thus reducing access to HIV/AIDS prevention. The study aims to evaluate the knowledge of the HCWs (health care workers) in King Abdulaziz Medical City about human immunodeficiency virus infection and their attitudes when?they encounter HIV/AIDS patients. Methodology: A cross-sectional study was designed to collect data using self-administered structured questionnaire from 90 health care workers. It was distributed among HCWs in different wards in King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh in August 2014. Results: The study included a total number of 90 heath care workers, of which 31 were physicians and 59 were nurses. Around 81 (90%) of HCWs knew the causative agent for AIDS. Only 22 (24%) of HCWs knew the level of risk of HIV transmission following needle stick injury. Most of HCWs 66 (73%) knew that sexual practice was the most common mode of transmission. Around 27 (87%) of physicians and 33 (56%) of nurses were able to answer that antiretroviral therapy had the ability to control HIV-infection. In addition, 9 (10%) of HCWs believed that AIDS was curable. Conclusion: It was obvious from our study that there was some amount of general information and knowledge with our HCWs. However, an educational campaign will try to increase the level of awareness and clear any misconception or misleading theories about HIV infection with our health care workers.

Drainage vs. non-drainage after cholecystectomy for acute cholecystitis:a retrospective study

Many surgeons practice prophylactic drainage after cholecystectomy without reliable evidence,this study was conducted to answer the question whether to drain or not to drain after cholecystectomy for acute calculous cholecystitis.A retrospective review of all patients who had cholecystectomy for acute cholecystitis in Aseer Central Hospital,Abha,Saudi Arabia,was conducted from April 2010 to April *** were extracted from hospital case *** data included clinical presentation,routine investigations and liver function *** data included excessive adhesions,bleeding,bile leak,and drain *** cases such as pericholecystic collections,mucocele and empyema were also *** who needed therapeutic drainage were *** data included hospital stay,volume of drained fluid,time of drain removal,and drain site *** study included 103 patients allocated into two groups;group A（n = 38） for patients with operative drain insertion and group B（n = 65） for patients without drain *** number of patients with preoperative diagnosis of acute non-complicated cholecystitis was significantly greater in group B（80%） than group A（36.8%）（P 〈 0.001）.Operative time was significantly longer in group *** patients who were converted from laparoscopic to open cholecystectomy were in group *** analysis revealed that hospital stay was significantly（P 〈 0.001） longer in patients with preoperative *** was no added benefit for prophylactic drain insertion after cholecystectomy for acute calculous cholecystitis in non-complicated or in complicated cases.

A. aegypti, the primary carrier for dengue viruses that cause dengue fever and are widespread over large areas of the tropics and subtropics. The copepod, Acanthocyclops vernalis was collected from a pond located in Hail, a city in northwestern Saudi Arabia. A. aegypti colonies established from Laboratory of Public Health Pests, Jeddah Municipality, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. In the laboratory, the predatory capacity of copepod predator A. vernalis tested on first and second instars of Aedes aegypti. A single adult female of A. vernalis was tested against 50 larvae of A. aegypti in case the presence and absence of an alternative food. Several doses of A. vernalis (10, 15, 20 and 25 adults) against 100 larvae of mosquito were tested also in case the presence and absence of an alternative food under laboratory conditions.

Personality Traits, Thinking Styles, and Emotional Intelligence in Nursing, towards Healthcare Providers’ Characterization and Safer Patient Care

Background: This study explored nursing personality traits (Big Five Inventory BFI), emotional intelligence (EI), and thinking styles (Rational, RS, and Experiential, ES) together with demographic data to see how they could relate and the implication of this on nurses and patient safety. Design: A cross-sectional study. Methods: Nursing sample (n = 435). Participants completed a self-report online survey, which included demographic information, followed by questionnaires to measure personality traits, thinking styles, and emotional intelligence. Results: Spearman’s rank correlation was computed to assess the relationship between EI and Extraversion;there was a moderate positive correlation between the two variables, r = 0.487, p r = 0.731, p r = 0.723, p r = -0.666, p r = 0.467, p Conclusion: Different studies consolidated each other, and all converge and channel into the concept of characterization of healthcare providers for better support to them and safer patient care. EI correlated with all BFI components, and both positively impacted all desirable behaviors. Therefore, it would be valuable if organizations invested in increasing EI in their providers as it might highlight areas for improvement and equip providers with appropriate and advantageous coping strategies.

The automated proficiencies of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in vision 2030, influence a decade of continual expenditure in contemporary automation and unified government platforms. It affords a reliable base for the COVID-19 response’s significant facets, encompassing continued connection to many e-government systems. The worldwide COVID-19 epidemic has reinvigorated the role of e-government. The health crisis has altered SADAIA to lunch Tawakkalna m-government application to execute business continuity strategies, offer important services to people, and assure their fulfilment. The study intends to assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on users’ satisfaction with m-government services and Health Care apps in the Al-Madinah region. It analyses the elements that enable people’s use of online government services, and m-government services are a solution to handle the crisis. The finding shows that trust in e-government, trust in the internet, ease of use and usefulness are the important factors in using the application during the pandemic.

The Impact of Medical Profession Type, Gender, and Years of Experience on Thinking Styles: What Are the Implications for Patient Safety?

Background: Healthcare providers were faced daily with many decision-making that impacted patients’ safety. According to dual process theory, there were two types of thinking: Experiential style (ES) and Rational Style (RS). Both thinking styles had an impact on individuals’ decisions making. Therefore, the aim of this study was to find out nurses’ and physicians’ styles of thinking and how this impacted patients’ safety. Design: A cross-sectional study. Methods: Nurses and physicians sample of adults (n = 308), 190 (61.7%) of the sample were nurses and 118 (38.3%) of the sample were physicians. Participants completed a self-report online survey, which included demographic information followed by questionnaires to measure thinking style and a cognitive puzzle to see if the medical error was associated with certain styles of thinking. Results: The main findings were that nurses (M = 2.41, SD = 0.37) had significantly higher scores compared to physicians (M = 2.29, SD = 0.39) in their ES, t(305) = 2.73, p = 0.007;with medium effect size, d = 0.37692. Conclusion: Nurses differed from physicians in ES where nurses had a significantly higher score than physicians which could be positive for patients’ safety as higher ES would report errors compared to lower ES.

Comparative Study between Traditional Approach and Physico-Chemical Approach in Acid Base Disorders Interpretation in Critically Ill Patients

Objective: The traditional approach for acid base interpretation is based on Handerson-Hasselbalch formula and includes Base Excess (BE), bicarbonate (HCO3), albumin corrected anion gap. The Physicochemical approach is centered on the Carbon Dioxide tension (PCO2), the strong ion difference (SID), strong ion gap (SIG) = SID apparent-SID effective and totally weak acids (Atot). The study aims to compare between the traditional approach and the physicochemical approach in acid base disorder interpretation. Design: Prospective observational study in an adult Intensive Care Unit (ICU) recruiting six hundred and sixty one patients. Methods: Arterial blood samples were analyzed to measure pH, PaCO2 sodium, potassium, chloride and lactate. Venous blood samples were analyzed to measure ionized calcium, magnesium, phosphorous and albumin. These samples were interpreted by both techniques. Results: Normal HCO3 and BE were detected by traditional approach in 49 cases of which SIG acidosis was detected in 22 cases (46%) and Hyperchloremic acidosis was detected in 29 cases (60%) by physicochemical method. SIG was elevated in 72 cases (58%) of 124 cases with high anion gap acidosis. SIDeff and BE were strongly correlated, r = 0.8, p 0.0001, while SIG and Albumin corrected Anion Gap (ALAG) were moderately correlated r = 0.56, p Conclusion: Both approaches are important for interpretation of the acid base status. Traditional approach identifies the diagnostic description without many calculations and detects body compensatory response to acid base disorders. Physicochemical approach is essential to identify the exact causation and the severity of the acid base disorders.
