Air Pollution Prediction in Warri and Its Environs Using Quality Parameters

Air pollution is a major environmental problem in the Niger Delta Area (NDA) of Nigeria primarily due to oil and gas-related operational activities. Identifiable sources of air pollution in the NDA include gas flaring, vehicle emissions from internal combustion engines, crude oil pollution, etc. The aim of this research is to evaluate the concentration of air pollutants from crude oil-related activities using air quality parameters in Warri during seasons peculiar to the area of study. The Warri metropolis, one of Nigeria’s largest oil cities, was the sampling region under research in this study. An Aeroqual handheld mobile multi-gas monitor fitted with different sensors of (Carbon Monoxide (CO), air quality multi-meter for Particulate Matter (PM2.5 and PM10), Volatile Organic (VOC), Sulphur dioxide (SO2), Ammonia (NH3), Methane (CH4), and air quality index (AQI), was used for the collection of air quality parameter. Linear regression was used to create the model, which was then used to predict the extent of pollution in the locations of study. The average mean concentrations of air pollutants such as CO, NO2, CH4, VOC, NH4, and SO2 were measured at all sampling sites during wet and dry seasons. The results showed that the levels of these pollutants were above the WHO permissible limits for the majority of the air quality parameters studied in all sixteen locations. The concentration levels of most of the pollutants were higher in the dry season than in the rainy season. The study also found that the pollutants were mainly from fossil fuel combustion and road traffic emissions. Overall, the research provided monitoring data for all air quality pollutants under investigation in the study area and demonstrated that these concentrations exceed regulatory guidelines.

Anti-inflammatory and bronchodilatory constituents of leaf extracts of Anacardium occidentale L. in animal models

Objective： Anocardium occidentale L. leaf is useful in the treatment of inflammation and asthma, but the bioactive constituents responsible for these activities have not been characterized. Therefore, this study was aimed at identifying the bioactive constituent（s） ofA. occidentale ethanolic leaf extract （AOEL） and its solvent-soluble portions, and evaluating their effects on histamine-induced paw edema and bronchocon- striction. Methods： The bronchodilatory effect was determined by measuring the percentage protection provided by plant extracts in the histamine-induced bronchoconstriction model in guinea pigs. The anti- inflammatory effect of the extracts on histamine-induced paw edema in rats was determined by measur- ing the increase in paw diameter, after which the percent edema inhibition was calculated. The extracts were analyzed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry to identify the bioactive constituents. Column chromatography and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy were used respectively to isolate and characterize the constituents. The bronchodilatory and anti-inflammatory activities of the isolated bioactive constituent were evaluated. Results： Histamine induced bronchoconstriction in the guinea pigs and edema in the rat paw. AOEL, hexane-soluble portion of AOEL, ethyl acetate-soluble portion of AOEL, and chloroform-soluble portion of AOEL significantly increased bronchodilatory and anti-inflammatory activities （P 〈 0.05）. Oleamide （9-octadecenamide） was identified as the most abundant compound in the extracts and was isolated. Oleamide significantly increased bronchodilatory and anti-inflammatory activities by 32.97% and 98.41%, respectively （P 〈 0.05）. Conclusion： These results indicate that oleamide is one of the bioactive constituents responsible for the bronchodilatory and anti-inflammatory activity of A. occidentale leaf, and can therefore be employed in the management of bronchoconstriction and inflammation.

Biomedical applications of magneto-responsive scaffolds

Stimuli-responsive biomaterials, capable of responding on-demand to changes in their local environment, have become a subject of interest in the field of regenerative medicine. Magneto-responsive biomaterials, which can be manipulated spatiotemporally via an external magnetic field, have emerged as promising candidates as active scaffolds for advanced drug delivery and tissue regeneration applications. These specialized biomaterials can be synthesized by physically and/or chemically incorporating magnetic nanoparticles into the biomaterial structure. However, despite their promising impact on the future of regenerative medicine, magneto-responsive biomaterials still have several limitations that need to be overcome before they can be implemented clinically in a reliable manner, as predicting their behavior and biocompatibility remains an ongoing challenge. This review article will focus on discussing the current fabrication methods used to synthesize magneto-responsive materials, efforts to predict and characterize magneto-responsive biomaterial behavior, and the application of magneto-responsive biomaterials as controlled drug delivery systems, tissue engineering scaffolds, and artificial muscles.

The internet of medical things(IoMT)empowers patients to get adaptable,and virtualized gear over the *** scheduling is the most fundamental problem in the IoMT-cloud since cloud execution commonly relies on ***,a proposition is being made for a distinct scheduling technique to suitably meet these *** manage the scheduling issue,an artificial intelligence(AI)method known as a hybrid genetic algorithm(HGA)is *** proposed AI method will be justified by contrasting it with other traditional optimization and AI scheduling *** CloudSim is utilized to quantify its effect on various parameters like time,resource utilization,cost,and *** proposed AI technique enhanced the viability of task scheduling with a better execution rate of 32.47ms and a reduced time of ***,the experimented outcomes show that the HGA reduces cost as well as time profoundly.

Porosity and Pore Networks in Tight Dolostone—Mudstone Reservoirs:Insights from the Devonian Three Forks Formation,Williston Basin,USA

This study was performed to evaluate pore systems of reservoir lithofacies within the Devonian Three Forks Formation in the Williston Basin through micro-scale pore *** lithofacies are from the Upper Three Forks section,which is a prominent drilling target within the BakkenThree Forks Petroleum *** from the Formation were examined by(1)physical core description,(2)petrographic thin section microscopy,(3)x-ray diffractometry(XRD)minerals analysis,(4)scanning electron microscopy(SEM),and(5)porosity measurements from helium porosimetry,nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR),gas adsorption and mercury intrusion porosimetry(MIP).These were done to provide better understanding of the local variations in pore structures and how such structures impact reservoir quality within the Three Forks *** reservoir lithofacies were identified and described,including laminated lithofacies,massive dolostone,mottled dolostone,massive mudstone,mottled mudstone,mudstone conglomerates,and brecciated *** show a diverse variation in mineralogical composition,pore types,porosity,and pore-size *** types of pores were identified:interparticle,intercrystalline,intracrystalline,vuggy,microfractures,and mudstone ***-rich lithofacies have abundant dolomite and less siliciclastic minerals such as quartz,feldspar,and *** also have relatively low porosity and generally larger pore size.A general positive trend exists between porosity with clay minerals and feldspar,in contrast to a negative trend with dolomite,and no clear relationship with quartz *** from the gas adsorption analysis,NMR and MIP pore-size distribution confirm an abundance of macropores(>50 nm in diameters)in dolostone dominated lithofacies while other lithofacies generally have abundant mesopores(2–50 nm).

As part of an on-going edification process on the subject matter, this paper brings to fore the many important functions and components of Wireless Sensor Networks, including application areas, functional architectures, physical topological design, communication protocols, routing schemes and Wireless Sensor Network hardware capabilities.

Hydrodesulphurization of Bonny light crude oil using nano Co–Mo supported on zeolite synthesized from Akoko clay

At present,petroleum remains the single largest global source of nearly all transportation fuel and the main source of industrial *** the legislative demand for cleaner fuel in automobile worldwide has forced scientists to develop and adopt new technologies to reduce the amount of sulphur in *** this study,a Co–Mo catalyst supported on zeolite synthesized from local clay was developed and tested in hydrodesulphurization reactions,using Bonny light crude oil *** Co–Mo was incorporated into the zeolite by wet impregnation method and its activity was evaluated in a batch *** catalyst was characterized and the efficiency was investigated in terms of product distribution and reaction *** a rise in the temperature,the sulphur in the crude oil gets released into the liquid and gas *** the case of gas effluents,the removal of sulphur depends on the reaction temperature,while in the liquid products,the removal of sulphur lies on the reaction time rather than the reaction *** use of this catalyst results in significant upgraded and enhanced oil production with an environmentally friendly fuel,which therefore recommended as an alternative to conventional industrial catalysts.

Microstructure Characterization of a Biogenic Shale Gas Formation——Insights from the Antrim Shale,Michigan Basin

Biogenic gas shales,predominantly microbial in origin,form an important class of organicrich shale reservoirs with a significant economic *** large gaps remain in the understanding of their gas generation,storage,and transport mechanisms,as previous studies have been largely focused on mature thermogenic shale *** this study,the pore structure of 18 Antrim Shale samples was characterized using gas adsorption(CO2 and N2).The results show that most of the Antrim Shale samples are rich in organic matter content(0.58 wt.%to 14.15 wt.%),with highest values found in the Lachine and Norwood *** from the Paxton Member,characterized by lower organic content,have smaller micropore surface area and micropore volume but larger meso-macro pore surface area and *** deconvolution results of the pore size distribution from the N2 adsorption indicate that all of the tested Antrim Shale samples have similar pore *** matter in the Antrim Shale hosts micro pores instead of meso-macro pores,while clay minerals host both micro and meso-macro *** pores play a primary role in the total *** biogenic Antrim Shale,therefore,has different pore structures from other well-studied thermogenic gas shales worldwide.

Some Serum Metabolites and Haematological Parameters of Pullet Chicks Fed Cassava Root Products(CRPs)

Blood biochemistry is routinely used in veterinary medicine to evaluate the health status of animals and *** experiment was designed to evaluate serum metabolites and haematological parameters of pullet chicks fed cassava root products(CRPs).Diet 1 contained 100%maize and served as the control diet(CD).Diets 2,3 and 4 contained 50%unpeeled cassava chip(UCC),unpeeled cassava pellet(UCP)and unpeeled cassava grit(UCG),respectively,while diets 5,6 and 7 contained 100%of respective cassava *** were three replicates of 10 birds each in a completely randomized *** the seventh week,blood samples were carefully collected from three birds from each replicate for haematological indices and serum *** on haematological indices showed that values recorded were not adversely(p0.05)to values recorded by birds fed cassava based *** respective values ranged from 18.50%to 24.50%,11.30 g/dL to 12.75 g/dL,2.43×10^6/mm^3 to 3.69×10^6/mm^3,32.96μmg to 50.87μmg and 44.65%to 63.41%.Serum glucose and thiocyanate were significantly(p<0.05)affected by inclusion of *** thiocyanate of birds fed the CD(0.14 mg/dL)was lower(p<0.05)than values recorded for those fed 50%and 100%UCC,UCP and UCG(2.33 and 2.56,2.25 and 2.47,2.19 and 2.38 mg/dL,respectively).Also values of serum glucose of birds fed 100%UCC,UCP and UCG(181.52,179.64 and 173.24 mg/dL,respectively)were higher(p<0.05)than ***,serum protein and its fractions were not ***,haematological indices were not adversely affected by dietary treatment,but serum glucose and thiocyanate were affected.

Assessment of the impact of climate change on the occurrences of malaria,pneumonia,meningitis,and cholera in Lokoja City,Nigeria

This study examined the impact of climate change on the occurrence of malaria,pneumonia,meningitis,and cholera in Lokoja City,Nigeria,with the aim of investigating the spatial distribution and prevalence of the four kinds of diseases as well as the coping strategies of people in the *** collected the rainfall and temperature data of Lokoja City during 2000-2020 from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA),and the medical records data of the four kinds of diseases from the Kogi State Ministry of *** also conducted a semi-structured questionnaire of 250 residents,who have experienced one of these diseases,to investigate their coping strategies with these *** Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis were used to research the relationship between the climate parameters and cases of *** result showed annual variations in climatic parameters with R^(2)values of 0.0557,0.0009,and 0.4915 for rainfall,maximum temperature,and minimum temperature,respectively.A positive and significant relationship were observed between maximum temperature and malaria(r=0.80),rainfall and malaria(r=0.54),minimum temperature and meningitis(r=0.64),as well as rainfall and cholera(r=0.66)at P<0.05 *** the regression analysis R^(2)=0.71,0.50,and 0.52 for malaria,cholera,and meningitis,respectively at P<0.05 *** 2000-2020,cases of malaria were highest in Ward A with 15,422,while 715 cases of pneumonia were highest in Kupa North *** Ward A,3787 cases of cholera were recorded to be the highest,while cases of meningitis were highest in Kupa North Ward with 2383 *** revealed that malaria is more common in the wet season,while cholera and meningitis cases were highest in the dry *** study revealed that the most practiced coping strategy is the use of medications by about 90%of the *** studies are recommended in the study area to establish a causal link between climate change and disease occurre
