Difference in grading parameters in architectural schools and its impact on the competency rating of future professionals

Architectural education in Nigeria is divided into at wo-tier training system of four and two years for undergraduate and postgraduate study, respectively. After the completion of postgraduate study, a student is deemed competent to take the professional practice examination. Success in this examination qualifies a student to be registered as an architect. The competency rating of future professionals in architectural schools in Nigeria is determined through a jury system of scoring based on predetermined grading parameters. However, the grading parameters adopted by assessing authorities （academic professors and practitioners representing the professional body） differ. The difference in the grading parameters employed by the two approved assessing authorities in Nigeria was investigated in this study. Covenant University in Nigeria was used as a case study. The grading parameters and scores for the 2013 academic session were compared to determine similarities and differences, which might have affected the competency rating of students. Descriptive statistics was employed to analyze the data obtained. Results showed a significant difference in scoring by the two authorities. This difference had a significant consequence on the competency rating of students.

Although pseudocapacitive manganese dioxide(MnO_(2))integrates the high-power merit of carbonaceous materials with the high-energy merit of battery-type materials,it still has a long way to go in achieving a more satisfactory balance of higher energy and power density,and in decoupling the relationship of structural characteristics with energy storage *** realize such goals,a bottom-up[WO_(6)]-perturbed[MnO_(6)]assembly strategy has been developed here due to their similar structure,yet mismatched lattice *** facile protocol is capable of finely controlling the morphology and crystal structure of MnO_(2)by adjusting its internal[WO_(6)]***,the as-prepared W_xMnO_(2)is treated as an ideal platform to scrutinize the correlations of the structure with the energy storage *** operando Raman spectra and finite element analysis have fully demonstrated the superiority of the locally ordered defects-enriched structure of W_(0.02)-MnO_(2),which could reach a favorable balance between the ion diffusion equilibrium time and the number of active *** a result,the W_(0.02)-MnO_(2)is able to deliver a high capacitance of 292 F·g^(-1)at a current density of 1 A·g^(-1)and a remarkable rate performance with a 60%capacity retention at a current density of 50 A·g^(-1).The further unveiled structure-performance relationship provides a guideline for the design of better pseudocapacitive energy storage devices.

Simulation studies on optimizing oil productivity in oil rim reservoirs under gas cap blow down production strategy

Gas cap blow down strategy is normally deployed for Ultra-thin oil rim reservoirs with huge gas caps due to extremely high gas oil ratios from wells in such *** current state leads to loss of production from the oil reserves due to high initial reservoir pressure thus,reducing its net present *** on important factors essential to the productivity of oil rim reservoirs are used to build a heterogeneous ultra-thin reservoir with a time step of 10,000 days using the Eclipse software and its embedded *** reservoir is subjected to a gas cap blowdown via a gas well,then an oil well is initiated into the model at onset and after time periods of 2000 days,4000 days,6000 days and 8000 days to estimate the oil *** is expected that due to the large nature of the gas cap,pressure decline will be drastic and leading to a low oil recovery,hence the injection of water and gas at different rates at the periods *** results indicate an oil recovery of 4.3%during gas cap blow down and 10.34%at 6000 *** oil recoveries of 12.64%and 10.80%are estimated under 30,000 Mscf/day at 4000 days and 1000 stb/day at 6000 days *** shows an incremental oil recovery of 8.34%and 6.5%over that recorded during gas cap blow *** results also indicate that the gas production at those periods was not greatly affected with an estimated increment of 257 Bscf recorded during 30,000 Mscf/day at 4000 *** secondary injection schemes at the respective time steps had positive impact on the overall oil *** is recommended that extra production and injection wells be drilled,enhanced oil recovery options and injection patterns be considered to further increase oil recovery.

This article describes the mathematical model derivation describing river blindness disease transmission in human and vector(blackflies)host *** effect of incomplete resistance to re-infection in human individuals who recovered from the disease after treatment but are still subjected to repeated exposures to infected blackflies bite is ***,the basic reproduction number(Rhb)is obtained and it is shown that if Rhb1,the onchocerciasis-endemic equilibrium is globally asymptotically ***,the Differential Transform Method(DTM)and Runge–Kutta fourth-order method is employed via the computational software Maple 18 to solve and obtain the approximate solutions of the model system equations,which showed that the numerical results favorably compare with each *** reveal that increase in biting and transmission rates leads to an increase of Rhb and incomplete resistance to re-infection due to consistent exposure to blackflies ***,simulations of the approximate solutions of the model state equations are provided.

In this paper, a data-driven control approach is developed by reinforcement learning (RL) to solve the global robust optimal output regulation problem (GROORP) of partially linear systems with both static uncertainties and nonlinear dynamic uncertainties. By developing a proper feedforward controller, the GROORP is converted into a global robust optimal stabilization problem. A robust optimal feedback controller is designed which is able to stabilize the system in the presence of dynamic uncertainties. The closed-loop system is ensured to be input-to-output stable regarding the static uncertainty as the external input. This robust optimal controller is numerically approximated via RL. Nonlinear small-gain theory is applied to show the input-to-output stability for the closed-loop system and thus solves the original GROORP. Simulation results validates the efficacy of the proposed methodology.

A mathematical model describing the epidemic interactions between humans and blackflies in the transmission of onchocerciasis is *** this model,the onchocerciasis infected human individuals are divided into two classes of infected humans with high and low microfilarial output incorporating saturated treatment function,which caters for high saturation of onchocerciasis *** analyze the model feasible region and obtain the basic reproduction number(R_(hb))using the next generation matrix ***,we obtain the onchocerciasis-free and onchocerciasis endemic equilibrium solutions and show that if R_(hb) is less than unity,the onchocerciasis-free equilibrium is locally and globally asymptotically ***,we employed a Lyapunov function to analyze the global asymptotic stability of the onchocerciasis—endemic equilibrium whenever Rhb is greater than *** addition,data on mass drug distribution of ivermectin drug to combat onchocerciasis prevalence in Ekiti state of Nigeria were fitted to the *** results reveal that consistent annual or bi-annual distribution of ivermectin drug in the region is effective in reducing the disease *** simulations also show that public health control measures are needed to minimize infectious contact between humans and blackflies which leads to onchocerciasis infections and visual blindness.

The study investigated the genetic variation of Parachanna obscura from five rivers(Anambra,Ibbi,Imo,Katsina-Ala and Ogun)in Nigeria using the mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase 1 *** was extracted from 19,22,16,18 and 21 fin clips per river population,respectively and subjected to polymerase chain reaction.A total of 96 sequences,each with 671 bp were obtained with 38(5.6%)polymorphic,27(3.8%)parsimoniously informative and 659(98.2%)conserved *** nucleotide composition was C=28.07%,T=29.43%,A=22.18%,G=20.32%.A total of 40 haplotypes with 38 unique sequences as well as 24 substitutions with 22 transversions and two transitions were *** diversity among populations ranged from 0.00184 to 0.00888 representing Ibbi and Imo,respectively while haplotype diversity ranged from 0.77056 to 0.95000 also,from Ibbi and Imo,*** of molecular variance showed that the intra-population variation accounted for 50.05%.Topology from phylogenetic analyses revealed that *** from Imo River was distinctly different from the rest.

Plant diseases and pests present significant challenges to global food security, leading to substantial losses in agricultural productivity and threatening environmental sustainability. As the world’s population grows, ensuring food availability becomes increasingly urgent. This review explores the significance of advanced plant disease detection techniques in disease and pest management for enhancing food security. Traditional plant disease detection methods often rely on visual inspection and are time-consuming and subjective. This leads to delayed interventions and ineffective control measures. However, recent advancements in remote sensing, imaging technologies, and molecular diagnostics offer powerful tools for early and precise disease detection. Big data analytics and machine learning play pivotal roles in analyzing vast and complex datasets, thus accurately identifying plant diseases and predicting disease occurrence and severity. We explore how prompt interventions employing advanced techniques enable more efficient disease control and concurrently minimize the environmental impact of conventional disease and pest management practices. Furthermore, we analyze and make future recommendations to improve the precision and sensitivity of current advanced detection techniques. We propose incorporating eco-evolutionary theories into research to enhance the understanding of pathogen spread in future climates and mitigate the risk of disease outbreaks. We highlight the need for a science-policy interface that works closely with scientists, policymakers, and relevant intergovernmental organizations to ensure coordination and collaboration among them, ultimately developing effective disease monitoring and management strategies needed for securing sustainable food production and environmental well-being.
