Three-year follow-up in advanced pediatric keratoconus:thin corneas may not have pachymetry properly assessed after crosslinking

AIM:To analyze the crosslinking(CXL)effects in pediatric keratoconus,and to identify the patients’corneal characteristics whose pachymetry could not be adequately evaluated by Scheimpflug method after ***:Consecutive pediatric patients with progressive keratoconus underwent CXL were ***-corrected visual acuity(BCVA)and spheric equivalent(SE)were measured before and after *** CXL,groups 1 and 2 were divided based on the posterior surface Pentacam quality specifications(QS):"OK"(Group 1)and"not OK"(Group 2).The mean(RmF and RmB)and minimum(RminF and RminB)radius of curvatures of the anterior and posterior corneal surfaces,and the thinnest pachymetry(Pmin)were measured preoperatively at 3,6,12,24,and 36 *** was ***:Twenty-six patients(14 men,mean age 14±1.8 y)and median Kmax of 59.9 D initially and 61.4 D preoperatively were *** was not different before and 24 mo after *** 2 statistically differed to group 1 in that SE was more myopic before and with no difference 24 mo after CXL;RmF and RmB were steeper and Pmin was thinner *** 2,in which pachymetric changes could not be adequately evaluated after surgery,presented with significant RmF flattening,a shift to hyperopia,and more haze after ***:Patients whose pachymetry could not be adequately evaluated after CXL had steeper and thinner corneas before *** predictive factors for impaired QS after CXL are RmF,RmB,and *** advanced keratoconus,alternative methods to analyze pachymetry and the posterior surface should be considered.

In this research,we proposed a non-linear SIS model to study the effect of variable interaction rates and non-emigrating population of the human habitat on the spread of bacteria-infected *** assumed that the growth of bacteria is logistic with an intrinsic growth rate is a linear function of *** this model,we assume that contact rates between susceptibles and infectives as well as between susceptibles and bacteria depend on the density of the non-emigrating population and the total population of the *** stability theory has been analyzed to analyzed to study the crucial role played by bacteria in the increased spread of an infectious *** is shown that as the density of non-emigrating population increases,the spread of an infectious disease *** is shown further that as the emigration increases,the spread of the disease decreases in both the cases of contact mentioned above rates,but this spread increases as these contact rates *** suggested that the control of bacteria in the human habitat is very useful to decrease the spread of an infectious *** results are confirmed by numerical simulation.

CH_4 Oxidation Potentials of Diferent Land Uses in Three Gorges Reservoir Area of Central Subtropical China

To compare the CH4 oxidation potential among different land uses and seasons, and to observe its response to monsoon precipi- tation pattern and carbon and nitrogen parameters, a one-year study was conducted for different land uses （vegetable field, tilled and non-tilled orchard, upland crops and pine forest） in central subtropical China. Results showed significant differences in CH4 oxidation potential among different land uses （ranging from -3.08 to 0.36 kg CH4 ha-1 year-l）. Upland with corn-peanut-sweet potato rotation showed the highest CH4 emission, while pine forest showed the highest CH4 oxidation potential among all land uses. Non-tilled citrus orchard （-0.72 ~ 0.08 kg CHa ha-1 year-1） absorbed two times more CH4 than tilled citrus orchard （-0.38 ~ 0.06 kg CH4 ha-1 year-l）. Irrespective of different vegetation, inorganic N fertilizer application significantly influenced CH4 fluxes across the sites （R2 ： 0.86, P -- 0.002）. Water-filled pore space, soil microbial biomass carbon, and dissolved nitrogen showed significant effects across different land uses （31% to 38% of variability） in one linear regression model. However, their cumulative interaction was significant for pine forest only, which might be attributed to undisturbed microbial communities legitimately responding to other variables, leading to net CH4 oxidation in the soil. These results suggested that i） natural soil condition tended to create win-win situation for CH4 oxidation, and agricultural activities could disrupt the oxidation potentials of the soils; and ii） specific management practices including but not limiting to efficient fertilizer application and utilization, water use efficiency, and less soil disruption might be required to increase the CH4 uptake from the soil.

Predicting and Curing Depression Using Long Short Term Memory and Global Vector

In today’s world, there are many people suffering from mentalhealth problems such as depression and anxiety. If these conditions are notidentified and treated early, they can get worse quickly and have far-reachingnegative effects. Unfortunately, many people suffering from these conditions,especially depression and hypertension, are unaware of their existence until theconditions become chronic. Thus, this paper proposes a novel approach usingBi-directional Long Short-Term Memory (Bi-LSTM) algorithm and GlobalVector (GloVe) algorithm for the prediction and treatment of these *** and fitness bands can be equipped with these algorithms whichcan share data with a variety of IoT devices and smart systems to betterunderstand and analyze the user’s condition. We compared the accuracy andloss of the training dataset and the validation dataset of the two modelsnamely, Bi-LSTM without a global vector layer and with a global vector *** was observed that the model of Bi-LSTM without a global vector layer hadan accuracy of 83%,while Bi-LSTMwith a global vector layer had an accuracyof 86% with a precision of 86.4%, and an F1 score of 0.861. In addition toproviding basic therapies for the treatment of identified cases, our model alsohelps prevent the deterioration of associated conditions, making our methoda real-world solution.

Role of ion channels in gastrointestinal cancer

Crystallization Study of Cu_(56)Zr_7Ti_(37) Metallic Glass by Electrical Resistivity Measurement

In this paper, the crystallization behaviour of amorphous Cu56Zr7Ti37 alloy using thermal electrical resistivity （TER） and differential scanning calorimetry （DSC） studies has been described. Isochronal TER and DSC measurements indicate that crystallization occurs in two stages. Isothermal crystallization studies of the alloy by TER show that the kinetics conforms to johnson-Mehl-Avrami model. Avrami exponents derived from kinetics, between 1.1 and 1.2, imply that the crystallization processes are diffusion controlled with near zero nucleation. Activation energy has been found to increase with the transformed volume fraction. A plausible explanation has been presented by separating the contributions due to nucleation and crystal growth towards total activation energy.

Diagnosis and management of splanchnic ischemia

Splanchnic or gastrointestinal ischemia is rare and randomized studies are absent. This review focuses on new developments in clinical presentation, diagnostic approaches, and treatments. Splanchnic ischemia can be caused by occlusions of arteries or veins and by physiological vasoconstriction during low-flow states. The prevalence of significant splanchnic arterial stenoses is high, but it remains mostly asymptomatic due to abundant collateral circulation. This is known as chronic splanchnic disease (CSD). Chronic splanchnic syndrome (CSS) occurs when ischemic symptoms develop. Ischemic symptoms are characterized by postprandial pain, fear of eating and weight loss. CSS is diagnosed by a test for actual ischemia. Recently, gastro-intestinal tonometry has been validated as a diagnostic test to detect splanchnic ischemia and to guide treatment. In single- vessel CSD, the complication rate is very low, but some patients have ischemic complaints, and can be treated successfully. In multi-vessel stenoses, the complication rate is considerable, while most have CSS and treatment should be strongly considered. CT and MR-based angiographic reconstruction techniques have emerged as alternatives for digital subtraction angiography for imaging of splanchnic vessels. Duplex ultrasound is still the first choice for screening purposes. The strengths and weaknesses of each modality will be discussed. CSS may be treated by minimally invasive endoscopic treatment of the celiac axis compression syndrome, endovascular antegrade stenting, or laparotomy-assisted retrograde endovascular recanalization and *** treatment plan is highly individualized and is mainly based on precise vessel anatomy, body weight, co- morbidity and severity of ischemia.

Study on the Direct Photooxidation of Near-Infrared Absorbing Benzothiazolone Cyanine Dye

In this paper, direct photooxidation of benzothiazolone cyanine dye: in acetonitrile was studied. The photoproducts had been identified by (HNMR)-H-1 and fast atom bombardment (FAB) mass spectrometry. The results showed that the N-ethylbenzothiazolone (I), the ionic acid (II), and ionic aldehyde (III) are the principal photoproducts.

Contact problem for regular hexagon weakened with full-strength hole

A problem of the plane elasticity theory is addressed for a doubly connected body with an external boundary of the regular hexagon shape and with a 6-fold symmetric hole at the center. It is assumed that all the six sides of the hexagon are subjected to uniform normal displacements via smooth rigid stamps, while the uniformly distributed normal stress is applied to the internal hole boundary. Using the methods of complex analysis, the analytical image of Kolosov-Muskhelishvili＇s complex potentials and the shape of the hole contour are determined from the condition that the circumferential normal stress is constant along the hole contour. Numerical results are given and shown in relevant graphs.
