As environmental concerns from fossil fuel consumption intensify,large-scale energy storage becomes imperative for the integration of renewable sources like wind,hydro,and solar with the electrical *** flow batteries,particularly those employing organic molecules,are positioned as a key technology for this *** review explores the growing field of symmetric organic redox flow batteries(ORFBs)within this *** traditional asymmetric designs based on unique active materials for each electrode,symmetric ORFBs involve a single bipolar species for both *** review highlights the benefits of a symmetric design,and categorizes five distinct classes of organic bipolar molecules used in both aqueous and non-aqueous *** providing a comprehensive overview of their cell cycling and performance characteristics,the strengths and weaknesses of the diverse categories of bipolar molecules are highlighted for both solvent systems,as are opportunities for future *** should guide new research directions and advance the development of practical symmetric ORFBs.

AIM: To ascertain fine needle aspiration(FNA) tech-niques by endosonographers with varying levels of ex-perience and ***: A survey study was performed on United States based endosonographers. The subjects complet-ed an anonymous online electronic survey. The main outcome measurements were differences in needle choice, FNA technique, and clinical decision making among endosonographers and how this relates to years in practice, volume of EUS-FNA procedures, and prac-tice ***: A total of 210(30.8%) endosonographers completed the survey. just over half(51.4%) identified themselves as academic/university-based practitioners. The vast majority of respondents(77.1%) identified themselves as high-volume endoscopic ultrasound(EUS)(> 150 EUS/year) and high-volume FNA(> 75 FNA/year) performers(73.3). If final cytology is non-diagnostic, high-volume EUS physicians were more likely than low volume physicians to repeat FNA with a core needle(60.5% vs 31.2%; P = 0.0004), and low volume physicians were more likely to refer patients for either surgical or percutaneous biopsy,(33.4% vs 4.9%, P < 0.0001). Academic physicians were more likely to repeat FNA with a core needle(66.7%) compared to community physicians(40.2%, P < 0.001). CONCLUSION: There is significant variation in EUS-FNA practices among United States endosonographers. Differences appear to be related to EUS volume and practice environment.

Birdsong is an important secondary sexual trait which may vary between but also within species. Intraspecific variation is generally studied either on the geographical or on the temporal scale;most of the studies exploring the variation of song over time, however, focused on species with rather simple songs. In this study, we explored the temporal changes in song of a complex songster, the Thrush Nightingale (Luscinia luscinia), recorded after 33 years (in 1986 and 2019) at the same locality in south-eastern Finland. Our analysis revealed a complete turnover of song types over the study period, with no song type shared between the two recording years. In contrast, 40% of the originally recorded syllable types were still found in the repertoires of recently recorded males. Their song type repertoires were significantly smaller but the songs themselves were on average longer compared to the 1986 recordings. Repertoires of both syllables and song types were more shared between males recorded in 1986 than between those from 2019. We discuss the processes that may have contributed to these temporal changes in song and call for more detailed studies of song evolution in wild populations. © 2025 The Authors

近几十年来，由于道路网络的扩张和城市化的蓬勃发展，道路建设对典型草原的影响引起了广泛的关注。然而，道路类型和距离对植物种群生长的综合影响仍然知之甚少。因此，本研究以陇东黄土高原微温微干典型草原为研究对象，探讨了道路建设（道路类型、距离）对菊科优势种茵陈蒿（Artemisia capillaris）和伴生种阿尔泰狗娃花（Aster altaicus）生长繁殖影响的驱动因素及其作用机制。结果表明，道路建设促进茵陈蒿的横向生长和无性繁殖，促进阿尔泰狗娃花的垂直生长和有性繁殖。阿尔泰狗娃花具有更强的更新潜力。普通公路茵陈蒿和阿尔泰狗娃花的地上生物量分别比其它两种道路平均高49%和27%，因此其对普通公路建设的响应更加敏感。此外，道路建设主要通过影响土壤进一步影响两个种群的地上生物量在群落中的占比。阿尔泰狗娃花的地上生物量及其在群落中的占比在距离20—35 m的范围存在明显阈值。因此需要注意将此范围内的植被保护和恢复措施与道路管理动态结合，影响植物生长繁殖，调控群落构建过程，以应对道路建设对种群和群落关系扰动的巨大挑战。

DNA damage is frequently encountered in spermatozoa of subfertile males and is correlated with a range of adverse clinical outcomes including impaired fertilization, disrupted preimplantation embryonic development, increased rates of miscarriage and an enhanced risk of disease in the progeny. The etiology of DNA fragmentation in human spermatozoa is closely correlated with the appearance of oxidative base adducts and evidence of impaired spermiogenesis. We hypothesize that oxidative stress impedes spermiogenesis, resulting in the generation of spermatozoa with poorly remodelled chromatin. These defective cells have a tendency to default to an apeptotic pathway associated with motility loss, caspase activation, phosphatidylserine exteriorization and the activation of free radical generation by the mitochondria. The latter induces lipid peroxidation and oxidative DNA damage, which then leads to DNA fragmentation and cell death. The physical architecture of spermatozoa prevents any nucleases activated as a result of this apoptotic process from gaining access to the nuclear DNA and inducing its fragmentation. It is for this reason that a majority of the DNA damage encountered in human spermatozoa seems to be oxidative. Given the important role that oxidative stress seems to have in the etiology of DNA damage, there should be an important role for antioxidants in the treatment of this condition. If oxidative DNA damage in spermatozoa is providing a sensitive readout of systemic oxidative stress, the implications of these findings could stretch beyond our immediate goal of trying to minimize DNA damage in spermatozoa as a prelude to assisted conception therapy.
