The Rif Mountain located in Northern Morocco represents the westernmost extremity of the Peri-Mediterranean Alpine orogenic *** belt is classically subdivided into:1)Internal zones(or Internal Rif which is an allochthonous metamorphic domain known worldwide thanks to the presence of large peridotite outcrops);2)flysch zones(sediments corresponding to the original cover of the Maghrebian Tethys);and 3)External zones(or External Rif representing the North African margin remnants).The External Rif is itself subdivided into Prerif,Mesorif and Intrarif domains from the South to the North and is composed by Upper Triassic to Cenozoic sediments structured in a nappe *** rock intrusions were reported in this External Rif since the preliminary geological studies even if they were wrongly mapped as"granites".Later careful fieldwork and mapping studies specified nevertheless their gabbroic nature.A more recent petrological and geochemical study of a few outcrops of those gabbroic intrusions conducted the corresponding authors,encouraged by the presence of ultramafic rocks(Beni Malek serpentines)in the eastern part of the External Rif to consider those gabbros as oceanic and so,associated to"an ophiolitic suture".Nevertheless,a recent and extended survey on the architecture and the rifting history of the Mesozoic margin of the Maghrebian Tethys focusing mainly on the Mesorif domain favor another *** detailed petrography of those mafic intrusions(mainly gabbros+dolerites and rarely extrusive rocks);their geochemical fingerprints and mainly their geochronological data(ages around 200 Ma based on U-Pb zircon LA-ICP dating)all together indicate clearly that those mafic intrusions are rather a"newly discovered"manifestation of the Central Atlantic Magmatic Province activity"CAMP"in the External Rif *** CAMP magmatism has been largely well described and characterized in all the other geological domains of Morocco(Anti-Atlas,High Atlas,Middle Atlas

Cu-Promoted Cobalt Oxide Film Catalyst for Efficient Gas Emissions Abatement

Thin film catalysts have been recently reported as promising catalysts owing to their good catalytic activity and reduced material amount, leading to low-cost efficient catalysts for gaseous emissions control. Here, we report the slight loading of Cu in cobalt spinel using a one-step pulsed-spray evaporation chemical vapor deposition(PSE-CVD) synthesis technique for efficient short-chain volatile organic compounds(VOCs) emissions treatment. Crystalline structure and morphology analyses revealed nano-crystallite sizes and open-like morphology. The catalytic performance was evaluated through the complete oxidation of C_3H_6, as a short-chain representative model of VOCs, at a high gas hourly space velocity(GHSV). Very good activity was obtained towards the complete abatement of C_3H_6 at low temperature and no carbon monoxide(CO) was formed during the oxidation process. Slightly-promoted Co_3O_4 catalyst with Cu introduction resulted in high catalytic activity comparing to the performance of the catalysts in the literature, due to the high dispersion of Cu and high active surface oxygen amount. Moreover, to evaluate the capability of the used catalysts under near realistic reaction conditions, CO_2 effect on the catalytic activity was performed and the catalyst exhibited very good results. Thus, the adopted slightly-doping strategy to tailor a high active catalyst at low temperature could establish a very promising route to strongly enhance the activity of such other catalysts towards gas emissions abatement at low temperature.

Prediction of Residential Building’s Solar Installation Energy Demand in Morocco Using Multiple Linear Regression Analysis

The building sector is one of the main energy-consuming sectors in *** fact,it accounts for 33%of the final consumption of energy and records a high increase in the annual consumption of energy caused by further planned large-scale ***,the energy consumption of the building sector is experiencing a significant acceleration justified by the rapid need for the development of housing stock,wich is estimated at an average increase of 1,5%per year;furthermore,tant is an estimated increase of about 6,4%.In this sense,building constitutes an important potential source for rationalizing both energy consumption and energy savings through the adoption of energy efficiency *** consumption control efforts in the residential building sector involve socio-economic,technological,and environmental concerns that require sophisticated ***,different types of quantitative models have been developed and examined so as to find a solution for the optimizing energy *** this work,we have highlighted the importance of using solar heaters to reduce energy demand in terms of the use of domestic hot *** do this,we have defined the needs and characteristics of a solar installation of a residential building located in Casablanca through a calculating tool“SOLO 2000”in addition to the use of multiple linear regression analysis to deduct the impact of irradiation and solar contributions on the energy demand of the solar installation.

Fe-Promoted Copper Oxide Thin-Film Catalysts for the Catalytic Reduction of N_(2)O in the Presence of Methane

Thin-film catalysts are recently recognized as promising catalysts due to their reduced amount of materials and good catalytic activity,leading to low-cost and high-efficiency catalysts.A series of CuFeO_(x)thin-film catalysts were prepared with different Fe contents using a one-step method as well as tested for the catalytic reduction of nitrous oxide(N_(2)O)in the presence of CH_(4)at a high GH SV of 185000 mL/(g·h).The increase of iron strongly affects the dispersion and leads to the creation of a less-active segregated Fe_(2)O_(3)phase,which was confirmed by XRD,EDX,and XPS *** results show that the synergistic properties between Cu and Fe,which affect the CuFeOxfilm catalysts in many aspects,such as the hollow-like texture,specific surface area,nano-crystallite size,the surface contents of Cu^(+),Fe^(3+),and oxygen species,the reductive strength and the strong active sites on the *** DFT calculations,the adsorption and decomposition energy profiles of N_(2)O on the CuFeO_(2)(012)surface model were *** surface Fe-site and hollow-site are active for N_(2)O decomposition,and the decomposition energy barriers on the Fe-site and the hollow-site are 1.02 eV and 1.25 eV respectively at 0 *** strategy adopted here to tailor the activity through low-doping Fe-oxide catalysts could establish a promising way to improve the catalytic reduction of N_(2)O with CH_(4).

An efficient and innovative catalytic reactor for VOCs emission control

Efficient mixing and thermal control are important in the flow reactor for obtaining a high product yield and ***,we report a heterogeneous chemical kinetic study of propene oxidation within a newly designed catalytic jet-stirred reactor(CJSR).To better understand the interplay between the catalytic performances and properties,the CuO thin films have been characterized and the adsorbed energies of propene on the adsorbed and lattice oxygen were calculated using density functional theory(DFT)*** and morphology analyses revealed a monoclinic structure with nano-crystallite size and porous microstructure,which is responsible for holding an important quantity of adsorbed *** residence time inside the flow CJSR(1.12–7.84 s)makes it suitable for kinetic study and gives guidance for *** kinetic study revealed that using CJSR the reaction rate increases with O_2concentration that is commonly not achievable for catalytic flow tube reactor,whereas the reaction rate tends to increase slightly above 30%of O_2due to the catalyst surface ***,DFT calculations demonstrated that adsorbed oxygen is the most involved oxygen,and it has found that the pathway of producing propene oxide makes the reaction of C_3H_6over CuO surface more likely to ***,these findings revealed that CJSR combined with theoretical calculation is suitable for kinetic study,which can pave the way to investigate the kinetic study of other exhaust gases.

Use of Statistical Tools for Comparison between Different Analytical and Semi-Empirical Models of the Bleve Fireball

The Bleve is an explosion involving both the rapid vaporization of liquid and the rapid expansion of vapor in a *** loss of containment results in a large fireball if the stored chemical is *** order to predict the damage generated by a Bleve,several authors propose analytical or semi-empirical correlations,which consist in predicting the diameter and the lifetime of the fireballs according to the quantity of *** models are based on previous experience,which makes their validity arbitrary in relation to the initial conditions and the nature of the product *** article delves into uncertainty analysis associated with analytical and semi-empirical models of the BLEVE *** could explore how uncertainties in input data,and the choice of a more or less inappropriate model,propagate into the model *** techniques such as global sensitivity analysis or uncertainty analysis are employed to quantify these *** this paper,an attempt is made to evaluate and select reasonable models available in the literature for characterizing fireballs and their *** were analyzed using statistical methods and BLEVE data(experimental and estimated data by correlation)to determine the residual sum of squares(RSS)and average absolute deviation(AAD).Analysis revealed that the Center for Chemical Process Safety(CCPS),the TNO(Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research),and the Gayle model revealed a high degree of satisfaction between the experimental and estimated data through correlation.

In this paper,we study the subcritical dissipative quasi-geostrophic *** using the Littlewood Paley theory,Fourier analysis and standard techniques we prove that there exists a unique global-in-time solution for small initial data belonging to the critical Fourier-Besov-Morrey spaces FN^(3-2a+(λ-2)/p)_(p,λ,q).Moreover,we show the asymptotic behavior of the global solution v.i.e.||v(t)||FN^(3-2a+(λ-2)/p)_(p,λ,q)decays to zero as time goes to infinity.

Role of copper grid mesh in the catalytic oxidation of CO over one-step synthesized Cu-Fe-Co ternary oxides thin film

The effective valuation of catalyst supports in the catalytic oxidation makes the contribution to understand the support effect of great ***,the role of active substrate in the performance and stability of CuFe-Co ternary oxides was studied towards the complete catalytic oxidation of *** Cu-Fe-Co oxide thin films were deposited on copper grid mesh(CUGM)using one-step pulsed-spray evaporation chemical vapor deposition *** structure and morphology analyses revealed nano-crystallite sizes and do me-top-like *** effects between Cu,Fe and Co,which affect the surface Cu^2+,Fe^3+,Co^3+and chemisorbed oxygen species(O2 and OH)of thin films over the active support and thus result in better *** thin film catalysts supported on CUGM exhibited attractive catalytic activity compared to the te rnary oxides supported on ine rt grid mesh at a high gas hourly space *** r,the stability in time-on-stream of the ternary oxides on CUGM was evaluated in the CO oxidation for 30 *** ad opted deposition strategy ofternary oxides on CUGM presents an excessive amount of adsorbed active oxygen species that play an impo rtant role in the complete CO *** catalysts supported on CUGM showed better catalytic conve rsion than that on inert grid mesh and some literature-reported noble metal oxides as well as transition metal oxides counterparts,revealing the beneficial effect of the CUGM suppo rt in the improvement of the catalytic performance.

Length unstable femoral fractures:A misnomer?

BACKGROUND Flexible intramedullary nailing(FIMN)is relatively contraindicated for pediatric length unstable femoral *** To evaluate FIMN treatment outcomes for pediatric diaphyseal length unstable femoral fractures in patients aged 5 to 13 *** This retrospective study includes pediatric patients(age range 5-13 years)who received operative treatment for a diaphyseal femoral fracture at a single institution between 2013 and *** unstable femur fractures treated with FIMN were compared to treatment with other fixation methods[locked intramedullary nailing(IMN),submuscular plating(SMP),and external fixation]and to length stable fractures treated with *** criteria included patients who had an underlying predisposition for fractures(e.g.,pathologic fractures or osteogenesis imperfecta),polytrauma necessitating intensive care unit care and/or extensive management of other injuries,incomplete records,or no follow-up *** who had a length stable femoral fracture treated with modalities other than FIMN were excluded as *** Ninety-five fractures from ninety-two patients were included in the study and consists of three *** three groups are length unstable fractures treated with FIMN(n=21),length stable fractures treated with FIMN(n=45),and length unstable fractures treated with either locked IMN,SMP,or external fixator(n=29).P values<0.05 were considered statistically *** characteristic differences that were statistically significant between the groups,length unstable with FIMN and length unstable with locked IMN,SMP,or external fixator,were average age(7.4 years vs 9.3 years,respectively),estimated blood loss(29.2 mL vs 98 mL,respectively)and body mass(27.8 kg vs 35.1 kg,respectively).All other patient characteristic differences were statistically *** complications,length unstable with FIMN had 9 total complications while length unstable with locked IMN,SMP,or external fixato
