Wood plays a major role in the production of furniture and wooden ***,in this process,the massive use of adhesives and plural connectors remains a definite problem for health and the ***,wood welding is a breakthrough in this *** paper reviews the applications of wood welding in furniture and construction and then examines advances in improving the durability of welded wood against *** contribution also highlights the need to join African tropical woods using the rotational friction welding *** to our results,these woods present interesting chemical singularities,which could provide solutions to the water vulnerability of the welded ***,the use of such a joining method would first free the Cameroonian furniture industry from the chemical industry,secondly position it at the forefront of new eco-design trends and thirdly make it competitive with other countries in the Central African *** works enrich the long and rich bibliography on the technique of wood welding,which has long been conspicuous by its absence of tropical woods.

The Knowledge of turbulent flow developing inside and around the bottom trawl net is of great importance not only for improving the hydrodynamic performance of the gear but also for the selectivity via the fish response,such as the herding response or escape *** 3-D Electromagnetic Current Velocity Meter(ECVM)measurements were performed to investigate the effect of turbulent flow on the bottom trawl net performance and to analyze the turbulence intensity and velocity ratio inside and around different parts of the trawl *** orthogonal decomposition(POD)method was applied in order to extract the phase averaged mean velocity field of turbulent flow from each available ECVM instantaneous *** results demonstrated the existence of turbulence flow,consisting of turbulent boundary layer flow and the turbulence due to the trawl wake developing all inside and around the bottom trawl *** input streamwise velocity results in faster trawl movement and a significant turbulent *** maximum turbulence intensity inside and around trawl wing,square part,first belly,second belly,third belly,cod-end is 0.95%,1.34%,3.40%,4.10%,4.25%and 3.80%,*** was found that the mean velocity field in a turbulent flow inside and around trawl net cod-end recovered on the average was~77.58%of the input streamwise *** is~12.92%,~13.07%,~11.40%,~13.00%and~0.45%less than that inside and around trawl wing,square part,first belly,second belly,and third belly of the bottom trawl net,*** turbulent flow behavior depends strongly on the structure oscillation,input streamwise velocity and,porosity of the net *** is necessary to take into account the velocity reduction inside and around a different part of the trawl net to improve the entire drag force determination,cod-end design,and further selectivity control of the fishing gear.

Introduction: This research, conducted in the municipalities of Aguégués, Sô-Ava, and N’dali in benin, focused on identifying socio-demographic and economic factors associated with urinary bilharzia in 415 school-aged children from 8 to 14 years. Using urine test strips and filtration techniques, the study found prevalences ranging from 11.88% to 34.53% across the municipalities. Method: Epidemiological data (urine) were collected and examined with test strips to assess the presence of terminal haematuria: the prevalence of infestation and parasite density was quantified using the filtration technique. Socio-demographic and economic factors were recorded using a questionnaire to assess the correlation with disease. Results: Prevalences of 34.53% (N = 48 out of 139), 13.53% (N = 18 out of 133) and 11.88% (N = 17 out of 143) respectively for the municipalities of Aguégués, N’dali and Sô Ava were calculated. The study showed that the variables “age”, “sex”, “religion” and “socio-professional” activity were not significantly correlated with bilharziasis (p > 0.05) and it appears that these factors are not related to bilharziasis in the surveyed households. While age, sex, religion, and socio-professional activity showed no significant correlation with bilharziasis, factors like agriculture, fishing, and place of residence were statistically significant in relation to the disease. Conclusion: The findings suggest that these socio-demographic and economic factors impede the elimination of schistosomiasis in the examined areas.

background: The prevalence of congenital malaria is getting more and more significant in Sub-Saharan Africa where is a malaria-endemic area. This study aimed to identify the clinical and therapeutic features as well as the outcome of congenital malaria in CHUD-b in 2015. Method: It was a cohort and descriptive study with analytical purpose, carried out in the Mother and Child Department which includes the Gynecology & Obstetrics and Pediatric Unit of CHUD-b. The study target population consisted of all the infants born in the CHUD-b as well as their mothers. The main variable was the presence of congenital malaria. The independent variables were those related to clinical, therapeutic features and outcome. Results: In the study, among the 300 newborns registered, 57 carried congenital malaria i.e. a prevalence of 19%. 171 (57.0%) of them were males versus 129 (43.0%) females. Among the 281 mothers involved, 48 presented with malaria in pregnancy i.e. a prevalence of 17.0%. At the end of this research work, the factors associated with congenital malaria were fever in the 3rd quarter and malaria in pregnancy in the mother. Conclusion: Nearly one out of five infants born in the CHUD-b was carrier of congenital malaria and approximately one out six mothers presented with malaria detection during pregnancy. A method based on Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) should be implemented during the diagnosis in order to confirm malaria cases among both newborns and mothers.

In this work, we evaluated the quality of paracetamol generic tablets while seeking its two main impurities namely 4-para-aminophenol (4-AP) and 4-para-nitrophenol (4-NP) which have nephrotoxic and teratogenic properties. Ninety-four (94) samples were collected at various levels of the medicine supply chain and illegal markets in benin for quality control tests such as visual inspection, pharmacotechnical tests as mass variation, disintegration test, dissolution test, followed by HPLC UV-Vis identification and assay of paracetamol, 4-AP and 4-NP. The analytes were separated on C18 Lichrocart column (250 mm × 4.0 mm i.d, 5 μm);the mobile phase was MeOH:10 mM ammonium acetate buffer pH 6.8 (35:65) pumped at a flow rate of 1 ml/min. The detection was done at 245 nm. Analysis of our results shows that 77.7% of the samples did not comply with the visual inspection test requirements, 2.1% did not pass the mass variation test, 24.3% of the sample batches didn’t comply with the disintegration test requirements. In addition none of these uncomply batches passed the dissolution test, even if the identification test indicated that all samples contained paracetamol. None contained 4-NP (acceptance limit bP), while 3 of 94 samples contained 4-AP but within acceptance limit (4-AP bP). As for the paracetamol assay, 80.9% complied with the specifications of the pharmacopoeias taken as reference (90% - 110%;USP). Further, broader studies should be conducted according to the same rules of good practice for a more comprehensive analysis of the situation. Generally the quality control of paracetamol in most African countries, particularly in benin, is based on pharmacotechnical tests and paracetamol assay. This work, in addition to the usual tests, showed the importance to search for paracetamol and other drugs’ impurities during their routine quality control.

Recent Epidemic-Like Anthrax Outbreaks in Italy: What Are the Probable Causes?

In Italy, in an area of about 50 km2 between basilicata and Campania Southern regions, 28 outbreaks of anthrax occurred from August 28th to September 27th 2011. Different species were affected: laboratory tests confirmed anthrax in cattle, horses and sheep. The genetic analysis of strains isolated from infected animals indicated that outbreaks occurring in the two regions were not correlated. Intriguingly, the incidence was highly significant in horses compared to that of cattle and sheep or goats, which were prevalent species in the animal population. In addition, allinfected horses and many cattle developed a fatal, sub-acute form of anthrax, characterized by the presence of massive edema, usually absent in hyperacute forms. The characteristics of these outbreaks suggested a possible role of tabanids as vectors in the transmission of b. anthracis like-epidemic infection.

background: Every minute a child dies from malaria in Sub-Saharan Africa. Despite this high infant and child mortality associated with malaria, congenital malaria is still not adequately understood as regarding its frequency, severity and management. The objective of this research work was to determine the frequency and identify the socio-demographic factors associated with the onset of congenital malaria at the gynecological and pediatric units of the borgou Regional Teaching Hospital (CHUD-b) in benin in 2015. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional survey with analytical purpose, based on exhaustive census performed from April to July 2015 on newborns delivered at CHUD-b and their mothers. The dependent variable was the presence of congenital malaria and the independent variables were socio-demographic characteristics. The data were processed and analyzed using Epi Info software version 7.0 with a significant threshold of 0.05. Findings: The frequency of congenital malaria in newborns was 19%. No sociodemographic factor was associated with congenital malaria. Conclusion: Nearly one in five newborns delivered at CHUD-b had congenital malaria. Due to malaria’s contribution to perinatal morbidity and mortality and subsequent receptivity of child victims to malaria, a longer study covering a whole year and focused on the determinants of congenital malaria should be carried out.

The objective of this study is to reveal the negative impacts of the practices of acadjas on the Aheme lake in benin. Various material and methods were used for the measures of the physicochemical parameters such as: colorimetric HACH DR/890, the multiparameter WTW 340i and specific kits for the dosage of minerals. Also, the investigations were made with the resources by persons. It emerges from this study that the practices of acadjas asphyxiate and disturb the lake species. In fact, the concentrations in dissolved oxygen became very weak (1595 mg/L to 3740 mg/L), and the contents of nitrites (2, 25 mg/L to 14, 5 mg/L), suspension materials and turbidity are raised. The consequences both on the aquatic fauna and on the vegetation of the bank are worrying. The waterside populations are also threatened. Some actions in an attempt to regulate the practice of acadjas and promote reforestation of the lagoon bank need to be put in place.
