Many economic problems can be formulated as optimization problems. Econometricians have long devoted their efforts to construct the econometric equation systems, while the corresponding objective functions receive few attentions. In recent twenty years, some techniques to construct the objective functions with economic implications have been developed, which might have a potential in economic decision-making. In the paper we app1y the method of constructing objective function to design an optimization model for monthly monetary planning of china. The real monthly data from l991 to l999 are used to evaluate the monthly economic situation. Our empirical experiment shows that the model gives a good short-term forecasting.

Fast and Robust Control of Excitation systems: A Finite-time Method

Using finite-time control approach, this paper proposes a new design method for nonlinear robust excitation control of a widely used 5th-order model of synchronous generators. The finite-time excitation controller achieved here can improve the system′s behaviors in some aspects such as quick convergence and robustness for uncertainties. Simulations demonstrate that the finite-time excitation controller is more effective than some other excitation controllers.

Seeking exact analytical solutions of nonlinear evolution equations is of fundamental importance in mathematical physics. In this paper, based on a constructive algorithm and symbolic computation, abundant new exact solutions of the (2+1)-dimensional dispersive long wave equations are obtained, among which there are soliton-like solutions, mult-soliton-like solutions and formal periodic solutions, etc. Certain special solutions are considered and some interesting localized structures are revealed.

Based on a class of functions, which generalize the squared Fischer-Burmeister NCP function and have many desirable properties as the latter function has, we reformulate nonlinear complementarity problem (NCP for short) as an equivalent unconstrained optimization problem, for which we propose a derivative-free de- scent method in monotone case. We show its global convergence under some mild conditions. If F, the function involved in NCP, is Ro-function, the optimization problem has bounded level sets. A local property of the merit function is discussed. Finally, we report some numerical results.

In this paper, we consider a multiple regression model in the presence of serial correlation and heteroscedasticity. We establish the convergence rate of an efficient estimation of autoregressive coefficients suggested by Harvey and Robison (1988). We propose a method to identify order of serial correlation data and prove that it is of strong consistency. The simulation reports show that the method of identifying order is available.

Monthly forecast of export and import of china is investigated in this paper. Export, import, exchange rates and foreign reserve of china are coincided with in a vector error corrected model, on which seasonal export and import can be forecasted in a reasonable precision. With impulse response analysis, impact of exchange rate to export is discussed.
