Coastal land transformation has been identified as a topic of research in many countries around the *** studies have been conducted to determine the causes and impacts of land ***,much less is understood about coupling change detection,factors,impacts,and adaptation strategies for coastal land transformation at a global *** review aims to present a systematic review of global coastal land transformation and its leading research *** 1,741 documents of Scopus and Web of Science,60 studies have been selected using the PrISMA-2020 *** revealed that existing literature included four leading focus areas regarding coastal land transformation:change detection,driving factors,impacts,and adaptation *** focus areas were further analyzed,and it was found that more than 80%of studies used Landsat imagery to detect land *** growth and urbanization were among the major driving factors *** review further identified that about 37%of studies included impact *** studies identified impacts on ecosystems,land surface temperature,migration,water quality,and occupational effects as significant ***,only four studies included adaptation *** review explored the scope of comprehensive research in coastal land transformation,addressing change detection,factor and impact analysis,and mitigation-adaptation *** research also proposes a conceptual framework for comprehensive coastal land transformation *** framework can provide potential decision-making guidance for future studies in coastal land transformation.

Extreme exposure of fluoride and arsenic contamination in shallow coastal aquifers of the Ganges delta,transboundary of the Indo-Bangladesh region

Globally,shallow aquifer groundwater(GW)has been severely affected in recent decades for both geogenic and anthropogenic *** hydro-geochemical characteristics of the GW change inconsistently with the addition of unwanted inorganic trace elements into the GW aquifer of the Indo-Bangladesh delta region(IBDr),such as arsenic(As)along with fluoride(F-)*** GW can have a negative impact on drinking water supplies and agricultural *** pollution can have serious adverse effects on the environment and human ***,the GW quality of this region is deteriorating progressively,and human health threatening by various life-threatening ***,the current study concentrated on the GW quality evaluation and prediction of possible health issues in the IBDr due to elevated contamination of As along with F-within GW aquifers by considering sixteen *** survey-based statistical methods such as entropy quality index(EWQI)combined with health risk index(HrI)was implemented for evaluating the As and F-sensitivity with the help of correlation testing and principal component *** study's outcome explains that a substantial portion of the IBDr has been vastly experiencing inferior GW quality,environmental issues,and health-related problems in dry and wet seasons,correspondingly for As and *** diagram verified the suitability of water that almost 55%of GW across the study area’s aquifers are unfit for drinking as well as cultivation of *** analysis and the Monte Carlo simulation method were also applied to assess the contaminant's concentration level and probable health risk *** present study concludes that the elevated exposure of As and F-pollution has to be monitored regularly and prevent unwanted GW contamination through implementing sustainable approaches and policies to fulfil the sustainable development goal 6(SDG-6)till 2030,ensuring the most basic human right of clean,safe,and hy

Background:Many kinds of orchids have significant health benefits although ade-quate research on their biological functions is yet to be carried *** study inves-tigated the paracetamol-induced liver damage-protecting effect of epiphytic Aerides odorata methanol extract(AODE).Methods:The protective effects of AODE were studied by analyzing its effect on liver function parameters,messenger rNA(mrNA)expression,and tissue histopatho-logical *** results were confirmed by ligand-receptor interaction of molecular docking and multitarget interaction of network pharmacological ***:AODE significantly(prease in acid phosphatase,aspartate aminotransferase,alanine aminotransferase,alkaline phos-phatase,γ-glutamyl transferase,lactate dehydrogenase,and total bilirubin compared to the reference drug *** level decreased,and the antioxidant genes catalase(CAT),superoxide dismutase(SOD),β-actin,paraoxonase-1(PON1),and phosphofructokinase-1(PFK-1)were upregulated in AODE-treated paracetamol-intoxicated rats.A total of 376 compounds comprising phenols and flavonoids were identified using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight-mass spectrometry(UPLC-qTOF-MS).The online toxicity assessment using SwissADME and admetSAr exhibited drug-like,nontoxic,and potential pharmaco-logical ***,in silico analysis showed that isoacteoside,one of the identified compounds,exhibited the best docking score(−11.42)with the liver pro-tein human pituitary adenylate cyclase-1(Protein Data Bank ID:3N94).Furthermore,network pharmacology analysis identified the top 10 hub genes,namely AKT1(protein kinase B),CTNNB1(catenin beta-1),SrC(proto-oncogene c-Src),TNF(tumor necrosis factor),EGFr(epidermal growth factor receptor),HSP90AA1(heat shock protein 90α),MAPK3(mitogen-activated protein kinase 3),STAT3(signal transducer and activator of transcription 3),CASP3(caspase protein),

Japanese Sign Language recognition by Combining Joint Skeleton-Based Handcrafted and Pixel-Based Deep Learning Features with Machine Learning Classification

Sign language recognition is vital for enhancing communication accessibility among the Deaf and hard-of-hearing *** Japan,approximately 360,000 individualswith hearing and speech disabilities rely on Japanese Sign Language(JSL)for ***,existing JSL recognition systems have faced significant performance limitations due to inherent *** response to these challenges,we present a novel JSL recognition system that employs a strategic fusion approach,combining joint skeleton-based handcrafted features and pixel-based deep learning *** system incorporates two distinct streams:the first stream extracts crucial handcrafted features,emphasizing the capture of hand and body movements within JSL ***,a deep learning-based transfer learning stream captures hierarchical representations of JSL gestures in the second ***,we concatenated the critical information of the first stream and the hierarchy of the second stream features to produce the multiple levels of the fusion features,aiming to create a comprehensive representation of the JSL *** reducing the dimensionality of the feature,a feature selection approach and a kernel-based support vector machine(SVM)were used for the *** assess the effectiveness of our approach,we conducted extensive experiments on our Lab JSL dataset and a publicly available Arabic sign language(ArSL)*** results unequivocally demonstrate that our fusion approach significantly enhances JSL recognition accuracy and robustness compared to individual feature sets or traditional recognition methods.

In Vitro Antioxidant and radio Protective Activities of Lycopene from Tomato Extract against radiation—Induced DNA Aberration

Background: The accumulation of free radicals is linked to a number of diseases. Free radicals can be scavenged by antioxidants and reduce their harmful effects. It is therefore essential to look for naturally occurring antioxidants that come from plants, as synthetic antioxidants are toxic, carcinogenic and problematic for the environment. Lycopene is one of the carotenoids, a pigment that dissolves in fat and has antioxidant properties. Materials and Methods: The antioxidant and free radical scavenging activity were assessed using the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay. The impact of lycopene on bacteria (E. coli) susceptibility to γ-radiation was examined by radio sensitivity assay. The study also examined the induction of strand breaks in plasmid pUC19 DNA and how lycopene extract protected the DNA from γ-radiation in vitro. results: At varying concentrations, lycopene demonstrated its ability to scavenge free radicals such as 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). IC50 for lycopene was determined at 112 μg/mL which was almost partial to IC50 of standard antioxidant L-ascorbic acid. The D10 value 180 Gy of E. coli was found to be >2-fold higher in the extract-containing lycopene sample than in the extract-free controls. The lycopene extracts inhibited the radiation-induced deterioration of the plasmid pUC19 DNA. At an IC50 concentration, lycopene provided the highest level of protection. Conclusion: Lycopene functions as an efficient free radical scavenger and possible natural antioxidant source. For cancer patients and others who frequently expose themselves to radiation, lycopene may be a useful plant-based pharmaceutical product for treating a variety of diseases caused by free radicals.

Estimating daily actual evapotranspiration of a rice–wheat rotation system in typical farmland in the Huai river Basin using a two-step model and two one-step models

The objective of this study is to evaluate the performance of three models for estimating daily evapotranspiration(ET) by employing flux observation data from three years(2007, 2008 and 2009) during the growing seasons of winter wheat and rice crops cultivated in a farmland ecosystem(Shouxian County) located in the Huai river Basin(HrB), China. The first model is a two-step model(PM-Kc);the other two are one-step models(e.g., rana-Katerji(r-K) and advection-aridity(AA)). The results showed that the energy closure degrees of eddy covariance(EC) data during winter wheat and rice-growing seasons were reasonable in the HrB, with values ranging from 0.84 to 0.91 and r2 of approximately 0.80. Daily ET of winter wheat showed a slow decreasing trend followed by a rapid increase, while that of rice presented a decreasing trend after an increase. After calibrating the crop coefficient(Kc), the PM–Kc model performed better than the model using the Kc recommended by the Food and Agricultural Organization(FAO). The calibrated key parameters of the r-K model and AA model showed better universality. After calibration, the simulation performance of the PM-Kc model was satisfactory. Both the r-K model and AA model underestimated the daily ET of winter wheat and rice. Compared with that of the r-K model, the simulation result of the AA model was better, especially in the simulation of daily ET of rice. Overall, this research highlighted the consistency of the PM-Kc model to estimate the water demand for rice and wheat crops in the HrB and in similar climatic regions in the world.
