Malaysia aspires to become developed and high income nation by year 2020. Under the Tenth Malaysia Plan, herbal industry was the first Entry Point Project for Agricultural National Key Economic Area in Economic Transformation Programme. To understand the current status of the herbal industry, FRIM (Forest Research Institute Malaysia) conducted the survey on 6,923 herbal chain players, consisted from upstream to downstream activities. A face-to-face interview was conducted using a structured questionnaire to gather the information. This paper highlighted the relationship between concentration of the herbal industry and urbanization’s status of the areas. The finding shows that a statistically significant difference exists between category of herbal activities and status of the areas. The upstream activities are more concentrated in rural areas, while most of downstream activities in urban areas. It is in line with central place of theory on how settlements and places are located in relation to one another and their functions. Therefore, to further develop the herbal industry, the government should consider strategic location by category of industrial activities in policies planning, programmes implementation and providing infrastructural support needed by the industry.

In this work, thermosetting resin, epoxy and fibre loading were used in optimizing the strength at which ABS/epoxy coated kenaf fibre (EKF) composites would perform apparently during mechanical stress. Kenaf bast fibres were resin coated before incorporated into engineering thermoplastic ABS at its processing temperature (230°C), cured in-situ at internal mixer and later compression moulded at 210°C under 65 kg/cm2pressure. The results showed the optimum level of tensile strength with thermoset and fibre loading as well as increase in strong interfacial bonding while the hardness values increased with increasing thermosetting and fibre contents. Both the tensile and flexural modulus apparently increased as the fibre contents increased.

Background: Although the frequencies of getting drug naive type 2 diabetes patients among all the diabetic patients are very low, nowadays it claims more attention in the treatment procedures of drug naive diabetic patients. But in Bangladesh, we have very few research-oriented data regarding the demographic, clinical and biochemical characteristics of drug naive type 2 diabetes patients. The aim of this study was to determine the demographic clinical and biochemical characteristics of drug naive type 2 diabetes patients of Bangladesh. Methods: This was an open label observational real-life study which was conducted in the chambers of the investigators in several places of Bangladesh as outdoor setting during the period from August 2020 to December 2020. In total, 250 patients with drug naive type 2 diabetes mellitus were enrolled as the study population. Proper written consents were taken from all the participants before starting data collection. A pre-designed questionnaire was used in patient data collection. All data were processed, analyzed and disseminated by MS Office and SPSS version as per need. Result: Two hundred and fifty (250) participants were selected as study population. The male-female ratio of the participants was 1.4:1. The highest number of participants was from 51 - 60 years’ age group (31.20%). The highest number of participants (41%) was with overweight (BMI: 25 - 30 kg/m2). Majority (65%) of the patients of this study suffered from diabetes for ≤5 years. The mean (±SD) SBP of the participants was 137.25 ± 17.50 mmHg and the mean (±SD) DBP of the participants was 85.16 ± 13.39 mmHg. Visual motion segmentation(VMS)is an important and key part of many intelligent crowd *** can be used to figure out the flow behavior through a crowd and to spot unusual life-threatening incidents like crowd stampedes and crashes,which pose a serious risk to public safety and have resulted in numerous fatalities over the past few *** clustering has become one of the most popular methods in ***,complex data,such as a large number of samples and parameters,makes it difficult for trajectory clustering to work well with accurate motion segmentation *** study introduces a spatial-angular stacked sparse autoencoder model(SA-SSAE)with l2-regularization and softmax,a powerful deep learning method for visual motion segmentation to cluster similar motion patterns that belong to the same *** proposed model can extract meaningful high-level features using only spatial-angular features obtained from refined tracklets(a.k.a‘trajectories’).We adopt l2-regularization and sparsity regularization,which can learn sparse representations of features,to guarantee the sparsity of the *** employ the softmax layer to map the data points into accurate cluster *** of the best advantages of the SA-SSAE framework is it can manage VMS even when individuals move around *** framework helps cluster the motion patterns effectively with higher *** put forward a new dataset with itsmanual ground truth,including 21 crowd *** conducted on two crowd benchmarks demonstrate that the proposed model can more accurately group trajectories than the traditional clustering approaches used in previous *** proposed SA-SSAE framework achieved a 0.11 improvement in accuracy and a 0.13 improvement in the F-measure compared with the best current method using the CUHK dataset.

Development of Tungsten Oxide Based Gas Sensor for Ethanol Vapor Detection

In this work, tungsten oxide (WO3) powder with average grain size of 50 nm was prepared using modified Nishide-Mizukami sol-gel method. The powder was characterized using X-Ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) coupled with transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The ethanol vapor sensing properties were investigated at different operating temperatures and gas concentrations. The WO3 pellet ethanol sensor exhibited excellent sensitivity to ethanol vapor with maximum sensitivity value of 29 at low temperature which is 200 °C. It was shown that the WO3 pellet can be reliably used to monitor high concentration of vapor above 1,500 ppm. This study demonstrated the possibility of utilizing WO3 pellet as a sensor element for the detection of ethanol vapor.
