Microstructure and Corrosion Resistance of Dissimilar Weld-Joints between Duplex Stainless Steel 2205 and Austenitic Stainless Steel 316L

The microstructure and corrosion resistance of dissimilar weld-joints between stainless steel SAF 2205 and stainless steel AISI 316L were investigated. Welding was accomplished by different types of welding wires AWS ER 347, AWS ER 316L and AWS ER 309L. To verify soundness of welded samples, nondestructive tests were performed. Metallographic samples were prepared from cross-section areas of weld- joints to investigate microstructure of different regions of weld-joints by optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Corrosion resistance of weld-joints was evaluated in NaCI solution by potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance techniques. In the weld metal AWS ER 347, the brittle sigma phase was created, resulting in the decrease of weld-joint corrosion resistance. According to the results of metallurgical investigations and corrosion tests, welding wire AWS ER 309L was suitable for welding duplex stainless steel （SAF 2205） to austenitic stainless steel （AIS1316L） by gas tungsten arc welding （GTAW） process.

Chitosan/polyethylene glycol impregnated activated carbons： Synthesis, characterization and adsorption performance

Novel modified activated carbons （ACs） with enhanced adsorptive properties were obtained coating by chitosan （CS）, polyethylene glycol （PEG） and blends of the two polymers （0：1, 1：0, 1：1, 1：2 and 2：1 wt/wt） on ACs by an impregnation technique. The adsorption perfor- mances of the pristine, acidified and polymer-impregnated ACs were studied using methylene blue as a model adsorbate. The adsorbents were characterized using Four- ier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and abrasion hardness tests. The average coating thicknesses were between 10 to 23 microns. The pore sizes, pore densities and pore capacities of the activated carbons increased as the wt-% PEG in the coating increased. The highest adsorption capacity （424.7 mg/g） was obtained for the chitosan-coated ACs and this adsorption was well described by the Langmuir isotherm model. The kinetic results were best described by the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The highest rate constant was obtained with the ACs modified with the CS：PEG （2：1） coating and this result was almost 2.6 times greater than that of the unmodified ACs. The CS/PEG impregnated ACs also displayed superior hardness （-90%）, compared to unmodified ACs （-85%）. Overall the chitosan had a greater effect on improving adsorption capacity whereas the polyethylene glycol enhanced the adsorption rate.

The focus of this paper is to address a novel control technique for stability and transparency analysis of bilateral telerobotic systems in the presence of data loss and time delay in the communication channel. Different control strategies have been reported to compensate the effects of time delay in the communication channel;however, most of them result in poor performance under data loss. First, a model for data loss is proposed using a finite series representation of a set of periodic continuous *** improve the performance and data reconstruction, a holder circuits is also introduced. The passivity of the overall system is provided via the wave variable technique based on the proposed model for the data loss. The stability analysis of the system is then derived using the Lyapunov theorem under the time delay and the data loss. Finally, experimental results are given to illustrate the capability of the proposed control technique.

Prevalence of Glucose-6-Phosphate Dhydrogenase Deficient Neonates and Cost Effective of Enzyme Screening in Tehran, Iran

Background: Newborn screening is an area with potential for immense impact in lifelong morbidity and mortality. Objective: To determine cost effective for glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G-6-PD) enzyme screening and prevalence of deficiency in newborns and children in Tehran, Iran. Materials and Methods: All full term newborns, neonates with icterus and children with acute hemolysis were evaluated to determine prevalence of G-6-PD enzyme deficiency and cost effectiveness of a screening test for G-6-PD enzyme deficiency. The qualitative color reduction test performed on healthy newborns and quantitative test on newborns with icterus and children with acute hemolysis. Results: Three (2%) of 146 screened newborns were G-6-PD deficient at a cost of $ 18 for three positive screening tests and $ 856 for 143 unaffected newborns Thirty-one (11.4%) of 272 newborns readmitted with icterus were G-6-PD deficient with a cost of 31 tests were $186 and $1446 for unaffected newborns. The only significant difference between G-6-PD deficient and normal newborns was bilirubin level (p < 0.001). Eleven (0.2%) of 5054 hospitalized children were found to be G-6-PD deficient at a screening cost of $ 66 and $ 3.258 for remainder children. The prevalence of G-6-PD is estimated to be approximately 2.4% and 2.2% in males and females respectively. Conclusion: Glucose-6- phosphate dehydrogenase screening in newborns is not cost effective and for prevention of hemolysis during the next years all newborns admitted with icterus should be evaluated for G-6-PD enzyme deficiency.
