Aneurysmal bone cyst (ABC) is a rare bone tumor accounting for 1% - 4% of benign bone tumors. Its etiopathogenesis remains unknown. The main site is the metaphysis of the long bones. ABC occurs almost exclusively in young people, with a slight female predominance. We report an exceptional case of ABC of the femur with involvement of the right hip in a 16-year-old girl in the Medical Imaging Department of Pr Bocar Sidy Sall Hospital of Kati (Mali). We will discuss the clinical and radiological aspects of this pathology. Observation: Mrs N C., aged 16, was referred to the orthopaedic-traumatology department for an X-ray of the right thigh, indicated as having a large, disabling thigh. Clinical examination revealed a large thigh measuring 890 mm in circumference, compared with 300 mm on the contralateral side. Radiographically, the femur showed a blown appearance, with the cortex thinned and broken in places. Exceptionally, the lesion affected the entire femur. On CT scan, we found a voluminous fluid collection occupying the entire right femur, including the right femoral head and homolateral ischium. The cortex was interrupted in places, and the adjacent soft tissues were thinned or laminated, but not infiltrated. Histology revealed haemorrhagic and inflammatory elements compatible with the diagnosis of ABC. Conclusion: ABC is a tumor entity that is often difficult to diagnose. Medical imaging, topographical distribution and histology form an indissociable whole to establish a diagnosis of certainty.

Antidiarrheal and antimicrobial profiles extracts of the leaves from Trichilia emetica Vahl.(Meliaceae)

Objective:To evaluate and-diarrhoeal and antimicrobial activities of the bioactive fraction of Trichilia emetica in order to provide a scientific basis for the management of gastroenteritis in Burkina ***:To do this,polyphenols content of extract and fractions were ***,AlCl_3 methods and tannic acid respectively were used for polyphenols *** in vivo antidiarrhocal activity was done using Swiss albino mice of both *** vitro antimicrobial activity(disc-diffusion assay,minimum inhibitory concentration and minimum microbicidal concentration or minimal bactericidal concentration) was assessed using seven bacteria strains(Gram-negative and Gram-positive).Results:About our study,it was found that ethyl acetate fraction effective attenuation factior(EAF) elicits the higher total phenolics and total flavonoids contents compared to the extracts of leaves of Trichilici *** of Trichilia emetica Vahl..has positive effects in a dose dependent manner against diarrhoea induced by castor oil in experimental *** bioactive fraction also showed good antimicrobial activity against all tested Gram-negative and Grampositive bacteria *** was shown that experimental bacteria strains were more sensitive to the EAF effect compared to the ***:The obtained results allow justifying the traditional uses of Trichilia emetica and possess good antidiarrhoeal and antimicrobial activities of EAF from Trichilia *** of the present study have clearly supported the utilization of Trichilia emetica in Burkina Faso traditional medicine.

Study of Radiological Practices in Côte d’Ivoire: Case of the Frontal Chest Examination

Objective: The aim of our work is to study radiological practices in C?te d’Ivoire regarding the examination of the frontal chest in order to optimize the dose received by patients. Materials and Methods: The work was carried out in 11 of the most frequented radiology centers and involved 330 patients. The equipment used in addition to those that can be found in an X-ray room is the DAP-meter. Using the DAP-meter, we measured the Dose in the air (Dair) then we calculated the Entrance Surface Dose (De). Results: We have by the statistical method of the 75th percentile determined the Diagnostic Reference Level (DRL): 0.28 ± 0.03 mGy and by the arithmetic average, the average of the entrance surface dose (Dem): 0.23 ± 0.03 mGy. Since the DRL is lower than the Dem, the dose is said to be optimized. However by comparing the DRL of our work to the DRL values obtained in other countries, we can say that efforts can be made to further protect patients from unnecessary doses. This involves increasing the voltage, decreasing the load, increasing the detector focal point distance, and increasing additional filtration.

Geotechnical Risk Assessment and Geological Origin of Building Fracturation in Agadez City(North Niger)

The Agadez city is built on the faulted and fractured sandstones formation of the“Agadez Sandstones”,which deposit in unconformity on the Precambrian basement of the Aïr *** present study focuses on the geotechnical risk assessment and geological origin of building fracturation in Agadez city.A methodological approach integrating measurement of fractures planes affecting the buildings and their statistical analysis has been *** analysis of obtained data showed that in 100 fractured buildings,about 3%buildings are at risk of collapse(very high risk),64%buildings are fractured(medium risk of collapse),and 34%buildings are cracked(lower risk of collapse).These results showed as well that the nature of the material(rheology)influences the buildings ***,the buildings made from cement are more easily fractured than buildings made from clay *** analysis of fracture planes reveals that the geotechnical risk associated with buildings fracturation propagates in NW-SE,corresponding to the major directions of risk propagation,mainly dipping in northwest sectors(zones)of the Agadez *** interpretation of geological and geophysical data combined to those obtained in the case of this study,reveals that the risk associated with buildings fracturation in Agadez city is caused by geological seismic events and or anthropogenic activities(explosive firing on the uranium mining sites like Somaïr and Cominak).

The DASA Graben in Northern Niger:A Case of a Paleo-Mesozoic Basin Evolving from Uplifting to Rifting

The N70°DASA graben is a closed-rift that seems to be the deepest part of the Tim MersoïBasin,which is located in the northwestern part of Niger in West *** contains more than 805 m of Paleozoic-Mesozoic *** tectonic subsidence and uplifting was calculated by using well log data and deducing the variations in sedimentary thicknesses over *** mapping and tectono-sedimentary analysis indicate that the structural evolution of the DASA trough is characterized by two major periods:(1)the first period was marked by an uplift stage ranging from the Carboniferous to the *** was typified by a weak subsidence rate(3.45 m/Ma on average),under a transpressive tectonic regime,with a decrease in the thickness of the sedimentary series along the axial zone of the trough,and an increase of the thickness towards the border areas;(2)the second period was characterized by a higher subsidence rate(4.11 m/Ma on average)related to a change in the tectonic *** was marked by a rifting stage preserved over a long period,subjected to an extensive tectonic regime,from the Triassic to the lower Cretaceous,during which the highest thicknesses of the sedimentary series developed in the axial zone of the *** structural and sedimentological features defined the DASA graben as a particular type of syn-sedimentary basin evolving from a transpressive tectonic regime during the Paleozoic to an extensive tectonic regime during the Lower ***,the second period marked by an extensional regime would probably be related to the opening of the first stages of the Atlantic Ocean.

Integrated Geophysical Study of the Lower Indus Platform Basin Area of Pakistan

Integrating various data sets to provide one optimal subsurface image is a major goal of geophysicst. In this paper, there is a synergetic approach used to delineate the tectonic-structural framework with analyzing the hydrocarbon reservoir in the Lower Indus Platform basin of Pakistan. The reflected seismic profiles and potential field map constitute the data base of this study. Our study in the line of the previous research is resulted from important oil and gas discoveries contained in the Early Cretaceous and Upper Jurassic formations of the Lower Indus Platform basin area. The result shows trapping mechanism in the Lower Indus Platform basin involves of the fault blocks and stratigraphic traps are present in the area. The more refined images are interpreted to provide greater insight into detailed integrated geophysical study of area.

Effects of Dissipative Terms on Dissipative Soliton Resonance Curve

Dissipative soliton resonance (DSR) is a phenomenon where the energy of a soliton in a dissipative system increases without limit at certain values of the system parameters. Using the method of collective variable approach, we have found an approximate relation between the parameters of the normalized complex cubic-quintic Ginzburg-Landau equation where the resonance manifests itself. Comparisons between the results obtained by collective variable approach, and those obtained by the method of moments show good qualitative agreement. This choice also helps to see the influence of the active terms on the resonance curve, so can be very useful in constructing passively mode-locked laser that generate solitons with the highest possible energies.

The manganese deposit of North Téra is located in the western side of the Diagorou-Darbani greenstone belt in the Niger Liptako Province(Northeastern part of Man Schield,West African Craton).Manganese mineralization bearing rocks are mainly gondites(a kind of garnet-rich quartzite of the spessartine type)whose borders consist of a high concentration of Mn oxide *** methodological approach implemented consisted of a field study followed by a polarizing microscopic analysis in transmitted and reflected light and a geochimical *** Téra gondites originate from Birimian manganese-rich sediments metamorphism in amphibolite *** supergene alteration,more or less important,has developed on the protore of gondites,a saprolitic profile whose setting up conditions were recently described in our previous *** macroscopic analysis of the manganese deposits samples combined with the metallographic microscopic and geochemical analysis confirms that manganese mineralization originated from weathering *** first oxide that forms around the garnets is nsutite,while the mesostasis is invaded by pyrolusite with lenses of lithiophorite destabilizing in favor of *** the botryoidal concretions,the latter forms an alternation with the psilomelane rich in Ba(8,101ppm)in the uppermost *** abundance diagram shows that the normalize Rare Earths compared to PAAS derived from a plagioclase-rich quartzitic *** observation is corroborated by a positive anomaly in ***,the high levels of transition elements(Ni,V,Co and Cr)highlight the involvement of a basic *** contents of major elements show a significant leaching,with an increase in those of Mn and Al during the increasing *** CIA and PIA indices move in the same direction towards high values leading to the Al2O3 pole on the Al2O3-CaO*+Na2O-K2O *** indicates an increasing alteration along the profile,according to an alteration path comprising pl

Peak of Electron Density in F2-Layer Parameters Variability at Quiet Days on Solar Minimum

This study deals with Peak of electron density in F2-layer sensibility scale during quiet time on solar minimum. Peaks of electron density in F2-layer (NmF2) values at the quietest days are compared to those carried out from the two nearest days (previous and following of quietest day). The study uses International Reference Ionosphere (IRI) for ionosphere modeling. The located station is Ouagadougou, in West Africa. Solar minimum of phase 22 is considered in this study. Using three core principles of ionosphere modeling under IRI running conditions, the study enables to carry out Peak of electron density in F2-layer values during the quietest days of the characteristic months for the four different seasons. These parameters are compared to those of the previous and the following of the quietest days (the day before and following each quietest selected day) at the same hour. The knowledge of NmF2 values at the quietest days and at the two nearest days enables to calculate the relative error that can be made on this parameter. This calculation highlights insignificant relative errors. This means that NmF2 values at the two nearest days of each quietest day on solar minimum can be used for simulating the quietest days’ behavior. NmF2 values obtained by running IRI model have good correlation with those carried out by Thermosphere-Ionosphere-Electrodynamics-General Circulation Model (TIEGCM).
