Recently, according to a survey carried out in Oued el Abid River by Oum Er-Rbia Hydraulic Basin Agency concerned about the surface water quality, the downstream course is undergoing continual degradation in its water quality comparable to the upstream. This study comes to localize the sources of pollution and explains the process of degradation, which affects the water quality in that area. For this purpose, an inspection of the place has been done during January 2017 to cover the entire zone limited by the affected part of river, followed by a survey, which interests to water quality and the ground-water depth. The inspection doesn’t show any direct liquid discharge into the river;meanwhile the water quality degradation is related to the underground sources through river-shallow-aquifer exchange process, when the obtained results from the survey showed that severe parameters are involved in the degradation of groundwater, as the geology and agricultural activities. Combining these results with flow direction in groundwater, it is clear that pollutants are transported to the river via the river-shallow aquifer exchange process, which affects its quality. Based on the finding results, this study will give the decision makers a simple view to a complex pollution processing.

The aim of this paper is to apply Adomian decomposition method (ADM) for solving some classes of nonlinear delay differential equations (NDDEs) with accelerated Adomian polynomial called el-kalla polynomial proposed by el-kalla [1]. The main advantages of el-kalla polynomials can be summarized in the following main three points: 1) el-kalla polynomials are recursive and do not have derivative terms so, el-kalla formula is easy in programming and save much time on the same processor compared with the traditional Adomian polynomials formula;2) Solution using el-Kalla polynomials converges faster than the traditional Adomian polynomials;3) el-Kalla polynomials used directly in estimating the maximum absolute truncated error of the series solution. Some convergence remarks are studied and some numerical examples are solved using the Adomian decomposition method using the two polynomials (Adomian polynomial and el-kalla polynomial). In all applied cases, we obtained an excellent performance that may lead to a promising approach for many applications.

Soy-corn-yoghurt is a fermented product that obtained from inoculation of yoghurt starter to soy corn milk. The present study was conducted to study the use of different ratios of soy corn milk and corn milk only with buffalo milk in the manufacture of yoghurt. Two experiments were carried out , the first experiment was 100 ml buffalo milk :soy corn milk ratios 90:10, 80:20, 70:30, 60:40 and 50:50 (w/w), the second was buffalo milk with Corn milk 90:10, 80:20, 70:30, 60:40, 50:50 and 40:60 respectively and 100% buffalo milk as control. Treatments were coded B1, C1, D1, E1 and F1 in the first experiment, while B2, C2, D2, E2, F2 and G2 for the second respectively. All treatments subjected to chemical and organoleptic assessment. It was found those pH, total protein, fat content were decreased with increasing the ratio of soy corn milk in the product. Also, increasing the ratio of corn milk led to decrease all the previously mentioned characteristics. Curd firmness values for yoghurt made from (70:30) coded D2 and (60:40) coded E1 were higher than that of other treatments. Results indicated that mixes of (50:50) coded F1, (60:40) coded E1 and mixes (90:10) coded B2, (80:20) coded C2 and (70:30) coded D2 had the highest sensory scores and chemical quality.

Seeking ways to diminish Egypt’s dependency on foreign oil imports, we had to look for the obvious resources to exploit. Oil shale is one of Egypt’s resources that are left abandoned and not used. This project is aiming at introducing both experimental analysis for oil shale in Egypt and the best production technique for it. This study is about experimentally analyzing different samples of potential oil shale fields in Egypt. Samples that are analyzed in this project are from two locations in Egypt: Quseir-Safaga and Abu-Tartur Western Desert, and they are compared to one of the best oil shale fields in the world, which is from Green River Formation Colorado. The experiments were done using AUC lab retort to experimentally determine the critical temperature that will lead to the maximum production using sudden and gradual change in temperatures, which turned out to be sudden change at 500°C. Thereafter, the degree of API gravity was calculated for each run. Then the oil samples were determined for impurities and liquid chromatography results in the Egyptian Petroleum Research Institute. Part two of the study plan has been included to determine the ultimate ways of producing efficiently, ecologically and economically.

The goal of this topic is a synthesis of the main characteristics of iron in groundwater and the oxidation process used to remove it. Indeed, the kinetics of chemical oxidation of iron (II) was examined with reconstituted water (distilled water + iron sulphate) and proceeded to the application in the groundwater samples taken from South Pout (Senegal) precisely in the drilling PS2. The sources of iron are natural or anthropogenic. In Senegalese waters, its content is variable and sometimes exceeds the standards of potability. Despite the diversification of iron removal process, chemical oxidation is the most used solution in drinking water treatment plants in Senegalese rural areas. Applied oxidation processes such as aeration and chlorination, however, are insufficient to produce drinking water with an iron concentration in accordance with standards of potability.

Evaluation of Cardiovascular Risk Factors in a Young Adults Tunisian Group

Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases have become more common in young adults. Their emergence is due to the prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors. The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors in a Tunisian young adult group. Material and methods: This is an epidemiological study of 705 Tunisians volunteers, free from any cardiovascular pathology;who are recruited at the Military Hospital of Tunis. Besides the classical cardiovascular risk factors (obesity, dyslipidemia, smoking, alcohol…), we evaluate the level of homocysteinemia and determined the C677T mutation of the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene by PCR-RFLP method. Results and conclusions: The mean age of our population is 28.25 ± 9.08 with a male majority (83.8%). We have 43.8% obese subject or overweight, 54.3% smokers and 12.9% alcoholics. The lipid profile showed that 12.6% of the population had hypercholesterolemia and 39.5% had hypoHDLemia, 7.9% had a high lipoprotein(a) concentration. In our study population we found that 10.9% of subjects had an hs-CRP concentration greater than 3 mg/L. Genotyping of the MTHFR gene revealed that 34% of young adults had a mutated genome (CT). The results showed a significant correlation between different factors, such as cholesterolemia and obesity. The prevalence of these risk factors showed the severity of our young people’s health status and imposes a change in the way of Tunisians life.

An early unbalanced nutritional diet can induce affective disorders in adulthood. As well as stress in adolescence can accentuate these disorders. Both human and rat structural changes have been demonstrated in the hippocampus, likewise, oxidative stress may be involved in these disturbances. The objective of this study is to see the impact of a high-fructose diet (PN21) associated with chronic mild stress (CMS) at the end of adolescence (PN55) on metabolic and affective disorders in rats Wistar. This study was performed on four groups of male rats: control group, CMS for five weeks (PN55), fructose for ten weeks (PN21) and fructose for ten weeks (PN21) associated with CMS for five weeks (PN55). These animals underwent behavioral tests to evaluate their affective states (open field test, Sucrose preference test). After sacrifice, the dosage of glucose, triglycerides and total cholesterol was performed at the prefrontal cortex (CPF) and also at the hippocampus;the dosage of nitric oxide (NO) was performed, too. The bulk of our results show that fructose induces metabolic disturbances;the CMS induces a state of depression-like, while the association potentiated metabolic disturbances, depression-like state and also inducing anxiety. This study has shown that fructose and CMS can disrupt the various functions of the body and their association can potentiate these disturbances.

2-(4-Oxo-4,5-dihydro-thiazol-2-yl) acetamide compound (1), was condensed with aromatic aldehydes either (1:1 molar ratio) or (1:2 molar ratio), and gave the newly 4,5-dihydro- 4-oxo-thiazole derivatives (2a-d), and (3a-c), respectively. Compounds (4a-d) were obtained via cyclocondensation of compound (1), malononitrile, and aromatic aldehydes (1:1:2 molar ratio). Cyclization of compound (2a) with α- substituted cinnamonitriles (6a-d), and (10a-c) yielded the newly thiazolo [3,2-a] pyridine derivatives (9a-d), and (13a-c), respectively.
