Elastoplastic analysis of AA7075-O aluminum sheet by hybrid micro-scale representative volume element modeling with really-distributed particles and in-situ SEM experimental testing

This paper addresses the challenge of reconstructing randomly distributed second-phase particlestrengthened microstructure of AA7075-O aluminum sheet material for computational *** particle characteristics in 3D space were obtained from focused ion beam and scanning electron microscopy(FIB-SEM)and SEM-based Electron Backscatter Diffraction/Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectrometry(EBSD/EDS)techniques.A theoretical framework for analysis of elastic-plastic deformation of such3D microstructures is ***-induced shear band formation,void initiation,growth and linkage at large plastic strains during uniaxial tensile loading were investigated based on reconstructed 3D representative volume element(RVE)models with real-distribution of particles and the results compared with experimental ***-situ SEM interrupted tension tests along transverse direction(TD)and rolling direction(RD),employing microscopic-digital image correlation(μ-DIC)technique,were carried out to investigate slip bands,micro-voids formation and obtain microstructural strain *** resulting local strain maps were analyzed in relation to the experimentally observed plastic flow localization,failure modes and local stress maps from simulations of RVE *** influences of particle size,shape,orientation,volume fraction as well as matrix-particle interface properties on local plastic deformation,global stress-strain/strain-hardening curves and interfacial failure mechanisms were studied based on 3D RVE *** possible,the model results were compared with in-situ tensile test *** general,good agreement was observed,indicating that the real 3D microstructure-based RVE models can accurately predict the plastic deformation and interfacial failure evolution in AA7075-O aluminum sheet.

Exploring nitrogen reduction reaction mechanisms in electrocatalytic ammonia synthesis:A comprehensive review

The electrochemical nitrogen reduction reaction(eNRR)holds significant promise as a sustainable alternative to the conventional large-scale Haber Bosch process,offering a carbon footprint-free approach for ammonia *** the process is thermodynamically feasible at ambient temperature and pressure,challenges such as the competing hydrogen evolution reaction,low nitrogen solubility in electrolytes,and the activation of inert dinitrogen(N_(2))gas adversely affect the performance of ammonia *** hurdles result in low Faradaic efficiency and low ammonia production rate,which pose obstacles to the commercialisation of the *** have been actively designing and proposing various electrocatalysts to address these issues,but challenges still need to be resolved.A key strategy in electrocatalyst design lies in understanding the underlying mechanisms that govern the success or failure of the electrocatalyst in driving the electrochemical *** mechanistic studies,we gain valuable insights into the factors affecting the reaction,enabling us to propose optimised designs to overcome the *** review aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the various mechanisms involved in eNRR on the electrocatalyst *** delves into the various mechanisms such as dissociative,associative,Mars-van Krevelen,lithium-mediated nitrogen reduction and surface hydrogenation mechanisms of nitrogen *** unravelling the intricacies of eNRR mechanisms and exploring promising avenues,we can pave the way for more efficient and commercially viable ammonia synthesis through this sustainable electrochemical process by designing an efficient electrocatalyst.

Modelling effect of magnetic field on material removal in dry electrical discharge machining

One of the reasons for increased material removal rate in magnetic field assisted dry electrical discharge machining （EDM） is confinement of plasma due to Lorentz forces. This paper presents a mathematical model to evaluate the effect of external magnetic field on crater depth and diameter in single- and multiple-discharge EDM process. The model incorporates three main effects of the magnetic field, which include plasma confinement, mean free path reduction and pulsating magnetic field effects. Upon the application of an external magnetic field, Lorentz forces that are developed across the plasma column confine the plasma column. Also, the magnetic field reduces the mean free path of electrons due to an increase in the plasma pressure and cycloidal path taken by the electrons between the electrodes. As the mean free path of electrons reduces, more ionization occurs in plasma column and eventually an increase in the current density at the inter-electrode gap occurs. The model results for crater depth and its diameter in single discharge dry EDM process show an error of 9%-10% over the respective experimental values.

Promising light converting BaMoO_4:Er^(3+)-Tm^(3+)-Yb^(3+) phosphors for display and optical temperature sensing

Er-Tm3+-Ybtri-doped BaMoOphosphors were synthesized by co-precipitation technique and characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis, absorption study and field emission scanning electron microscopy analysis. Upconversion as well as downconversion luminescence studies were performed by using near infrared(980 nm) and ultraviolet(380 nm) excitations. Energy level diagram, pump power dependence and colour coordinate study were utilized to describe the multicolor upconversion emission properties. Under single 980 nm diode laser excitation the dual mode sensing behaviour is realized via Stark sublevels and thermally coupled energy levels of the Tm3+ and Erions in the prepared tri-doped phosphors. A comparative fluorescence intensity ratio analysis for integrated emission intensities arising from the Stark sublevels {~1 G4(a)) and ~1 G4(b))} and thermally coupled energy levels {~2 Hand 4 S3/2} of the Tm3+ and Er3+ ions, respectively was carried out in the prepared tri-doped BaMoOphosphors. The maximum sensitivity for thermally coupled energy levels of the Er3+ and Stark sublevels of the Tm3+ ion was reported. The developed phosphors could be useful in the display devices and optical thermo metric applications.

In order to further understand high-temperature deformation behavior and its-related mechanical prop-erties,the Portevin-Le Chatelier(PLC)effect in an Fe-19Cr-13Ni-0.2C austenitic stainless steel was in-vestigated using high-temperature digital image correlation(DIC)*** the tensile testing at temperatures from 473 to 623 K,different types of serrated flow appeared even at a constant applied strain rate,and the type transition took place dynamically in a certain order with deformation *** analysis revealed that the dynamic type transition of the serrated flow obeys the PLC band propagation behavior,and that the transition of the PLC band propagation behavior could be attributed to the PLC band nucleation *** modeling also proved that the nucleation manner of PLC band nu-cleation is determined by the spatial-temporal coupling effect.

Multi-head neural networks for simulating particle breakage dynamics

The breakage of brittle particulate materials into smaller particles under compressive or impact loads can be modelled as an instantiation of the population balance integro-differential *** this paper,the emerging computational science paradigm of physics-informed neural networks is studied for the first time for solving both linear and nonlinear variants of the governing *** conventional methods,the proposed neural network provides rapid simulations of arbitrarily high resolution in particle size,predicting values on arbitrarily fine grids without the need for model *** network is assigned a simple multi-head architecture tailored to uphold monotonicity of the modelled cumulative distribution function over particle *** method is theoretically analyzed and validated against analytical results before being applied to real-world data of a batch grinding *** agreement between laboratory data and numerical simulation encourages the use of physics-informed neural nets for optimal planning and control of industrial comminution processes.

Chemical hardness-driven interpretable machine learning approach for rapid search of photocatalysts

Strategies combining high-throughput(HT)and machine learning(ML)to accelerate the discovery of promising new materials have garnered immense attention in recent *** knowledge of new guiding principles is usually scarce in such studies,essentially due to the‘black-box’nature of the ML ***,we devised an intuitive method of interpreting such opaque ML models through SHapley Additive exPlanations(SHAP)values and coupling them with the HT approach for finding efficient 2D watersplitting *** developed a new database of 30992D materials consisting of metals connected to six ligands in an octahedral geometry,termed as 2DO(octahedral 2D materials)*** ML models were constructed using a combination of composition and chemical hardness-based features to gain insights into the thermodynamic and overall *** importantly,it distinguished the target properties of the isocompositional 2DO materials differing in bond connectivities by combining the advantages of both elemental and structural *** interpretable ML regression,classification,and data analysis lead to a new hypothesis that the highly stable 2DO materials follow the HSAB *** most stable 2DO materials were further screened based on suitable band gaps within the visible region and band alignments with respect to standard redox potentials using the GW method,resulting in 21 potential ***,HfSe_(2)and ZrSe_(2)were found to have high solar-tohydrogen efficiencies reaching their theoretical *** proposed methodology will enable materials scientists and engineers to formulate predictive models,which will be accurate,physically interpretable,transferable,and computationally tractable.

Dynamical study of a predator-prey system with Michaelis-Menten type predator-harvesting

Effects of Nonmonotonic Functional Responses on a Disease Transmission Model:Modeling and Simulation

In this article,a novel susceptible-infected-recovered epidemic model with nonmonotonic incidence and treatment rates is proposed and analyzed *** Monod-Haldane functional response is considered for nonmonotonic behavior of both incidence rate and treatment *** model analysis shows that the model has two equilibria which are named as disease-free equilibrium(DFE)and endemic equilibrium(EE).The stability analysis has been performed for the local and global behavior of the DFE and *** the help of the basic reproduction number(R_(0)),we investigate that DFE is locally asymptotically stable when R_(0)*** local stability of DFE at R_(0)=1 has been analyzed,and it is obtained that DFE exhibits a forward transcritical ***,we identify conditions for the existence of EE and show the local stability of EE under certain ***,the global stability behavior of DFE and EE has been ***,numerical simulations have been done in the support of our theoretical findings.
