Theoretical investigation has shown a simple reaction water turbine would perform better when it spins faster. And for the simple reaction turbine water turbine to spin faster under constant water head, its diameter should be smaller. This paper reports on a performance analysis based on the experimental data collected from different performance tests carried on two simple reaction water turbine prototypes. Two new designs of simple reaction water turbines and their manufacturing methods are reported. The two turbines under investigation have different rotor diameters Φ 0.243 m and Φ 0.122 m. In case of the simple reaction water turbine the water enters into the turbine axially and exits tangentially through nozzles located on the outer periphery of the turbine. Further this paper will discuss the performance characteristics of stationary turbine i.e. zero power produced and performance characteristics of turbine producing power. It was found that rotor diameter affects the maximum rotational speed of the simple reaction turbine for constant supply head. It was also found that faster the turbine spins its performance improves. The two turbines were tested between supply head range of 1 m to 4 m.

Head and neck cancer is one of the most prevalent cancers in the world. Roughly half of these malignancies originate from oral mucosa and constitute Oral squamous cell carcinomas. Despite many advances in diagnostic and therapeutic regimens, five year survival rate remains at roughly 50 %, indicating the need for in depth understanding of the oral squamous cell carcinoma immunobiology. We have previously shown that in human dysplastic oral keratinocytes (DOK) and malignant squamous cells carcinoma (SCC-25), multifunctional proteoglycan decorin is aberrantly expressed and localized in the nucleus bound to nuclear EGFR. In vitro nuclear decorin knockdown significantly reduced IL-8 and IL8-dependent migration, invasion and angiogenesis in these cells. Since toll-like receptor (TLR) signalling leads to IL-8 production we examined here if these receptors play a role in decorin silencing mediated reduction in IL-8 levels. We have used immunological and molecular techniques to study toll-like receptors involvement in attenuated IL-8 production in nuclear decorin silenced (stable knockdown) oral mucosal dysplastic keratinocytes and squamous carcinoma cells. We show that nuclear decorin silenced DOK and SCC-25 cells show marked diminution of TLR5 mRNA and protein expression compared with respective controls that translated into loss of function in response to appropriate TLR ligand. In these mucosal oral epithelia, decorin stable knockdown significantly down-regulated IL-8 production following activation with TLR5 ligand flagellin. These data suggest that decorin silencing interferes with IL-8 production, in part, by altering TLR5 expression and signaling in dysplastic and malignant oral epithelia. This study highlights the significance of TLR5 expression and signaling in mucosal cancers.

We build a high-resolution early aftershock catalog for the 2023 SE Türkiye seismic sequence with PALM,a seamless workflow that sequentially performs phase picking,association,location,and matched filter for continuous *** catalog contains 29,519 well-located events in the two mainshocks rupture region during 2023-02-01–2023-02-28,which significantly improves the detection completeness and relocation precision compared to the public routine *** the new PALM catalog,we analyze the structure of the seismogenic fault *** find that the Eastern Anatolian Fault(EAF)that generated the first M_(W)7.9 mainshock is overall near-vertical,whereas complexities are revealed in a small-scale,such as subparallel subfaults,unmapped branches,and *** seismicity on EAF is shallow(<15 km)and concentrated in depth distribution,indicating a clear lock-creep *** contrast,the SürgüFault(SF)that is responsible for the second M_(W)7.8 mainshock is shovel-shaped for the nucleation segment and has overall low dip angles(~40°–80°).Aftershocks on the SF distribute in a broad range of depth,extending down to~35 *** also analyze the temporal behavior of seismicity,discovering no immediate foreshocks within~5 days preceding the first mainshock,and no seismic activity on the SF before the second mainshock.

Despite the longstanding importance of silage as a critical feed source for ruminants,its quality improvement has been largely *** numerous quantitative trait loci(QTL)and genes affecting silage quality in maize have been reported,only a few have been effectively incorporated into breeding *** this gap,the present study undertook a comprehensive meta-QTL(MQTL)analysis involving 523 QTL associated with silage-quality traits collected from 14 published *** the 523 QTL,405 were projected onto a consensus map comprising 62,424 genetic markers,resulting in the identification of 60 MQTL and eight *** average confidence interval(CI)of the MQTL was 3.9-fold smaller than that of the source *** of the 60 identified MQTL were classified as breeder’s MQTL owing to their small CIs,involvement of more QTL,and large contribution to phenotypic ***-third of the MQTL co-localized with DNA marker-trait associations identified in previous genomewide association mapping studies.A set of 78 high-confidence candidate genes influencing silage quality were identified in the MQTL *** genes and associated markers may advance marker-assisted breeding for maize silage quality.

Cadmium toxicity in wastewater is a rising concern due to industries like batteries,metallurgy,electroplating,plastic stabilizers,and *** quantitative detection of Cd^(2+)and its remediation from wastewater samples are of major concern from an environmental point of *** the present work,an effective spectrophotometric method has been reported using 5,7-dibromo-8-hydroxyquinoline(DBHQ)as a complexing agent for Cd^(2+).This method has advantages like using recyclable,less toxic solvents and easy sample *** limit of detection,limit of quantification,and sensitivity of the proposed method were found to be 33.30,36.70 mg L^(−1),and 2×10^(−3),*** DBHQ method was validated using atomic absorption spectroscopy,and the recovery percentage was more than 98%.These results indicate that DBHQ can be effectively used for monitoring Cd^(2+)in aqueous *** method developed was further employed for monitoring Cd^(2+)adsorption on calcium alginate(AL)*** adsorption studies were done to optimize parameters of Cd^(2+)removal using AL hydrogels,and the data obtained were used for kinetic and thermodynamic *** studies indicated that the pseudo-first-order model showed better fitting,and thermodynamic studies showed Freundlich-like *** maximum adsorption capacity of Cd^(2+)on AL hydrogels was found to be 56.45 mg g^(−1).The validation studies of DBHQ were performed using statistical analysis methods like t-tests and one-way variance.

探讨数字化的心电图(ECG)绝对心室颤动电压(AVFV)与心室电除颤结果之间的相关性。在11只成龄犬中按矢状方向(Y轴)、横向(X轴)和纵向(Z轴)连接电极建立正交ECG并安置经静脉双导管心脏电除颤系统;诱发室颤持续10 s,按选定的除颤成功率为50%的电量进行电除颤;使用希尔伯特(H ilbert)变换测定ECG包络电压。结果显示:在236个心室电除颤成功的试验(DF 1)和249个电除颤失败的试验(DF 2)两组中的AVFV包络电压无明显一致性的差别;DF 1组的移动平均电压并不大于DF 2组,其Z轴方向上电压反而小于DF 2组。研究表明:心室颤动期间ECG的AVFV与心室电除颤结果之间无很强的相关性。
