Liver cancer is a severe concern for public health officials since the clinical cases are increasing each year,with an estimated 5-year survival rate of 30%–35%after *** carcinoma(HCC)constitutes a significant subtype of liver cancer(approximate75%)and is considered primary liver *** for liver cancer mainly depends on the stage of its progression,where surgery including,hepatectomy and liver transplantation,and ablation and radiotherapy are the prime *** advanced liver cancer,various drugs and immunotherapy are used as first-line treatment,whereas second-line treatment includes chemotherapeutic drugs from natural and synthetic *** and lenvatinib are first-line therapies,while regorafenib and ramucirumab are secondline *** metabolic and signaling pathways such as Notch,JAK/STAT,Hippo,TGF-β,and Wnt have played a critical role during HCC *** has also been implicated in liver ***-induced toxicity is a key obstacle in the treatment of liver cancer,necessitating the development of effective and safe medications,with natural compounds such as resveratrol,curcumin,diallyl sulfide,and others emerging as promising anticancer *** review highlights the current status of liver cancer research,signaling pathways,therapeutic targets,current treatment strategies and the chemopreventive role of various natural products in managing liver cancer.

Refractive Index and Electronic Polarizability of Ternary Chalcopyrite Semiconductors

Simple models are proposed for the calculation of refractive index n and electronic polarizability α of AⅠBⅢC2Ⅵ and AⅡBⅣC2Ⅴ compounds of groups of chalcopyrite semiconductors from their energy gap data. The values family and 12 compounds of AⅡBⅣC2Ⅴ family are calculated for the work. The proposed models are applicable for the whole range of energy gap materials. The calculated values are compared with the available experimental and reported values. A fairly good agreement between them is obtained.

Serum uric acid level in newly diagnosed essential hypertension in a Nepalese population:A hospital based cross sectional study

Torsion of spleen and portal hypertension: Pathophysiology and clinical implications

The displacement of spleen from its normal location to other places is known as wandering spleen(WS)and is a rare *** repeated torsion of WS is due to the presence of long pedicle and absence/laxity of anchoring ligaments.A WS is an extremely rare cause of left-sided portal hypertension(PHT)and severe gastric variceal ***-sided PHT usually occurs as a result of splenic vein occlusion caused by splenic torsion,extrinsic compression of the splenic pedicle by enlarged spleen,and splenic vein *** is a paucity of data on WSrelated PHT,and these data are mostly in the form of case *** this review,we have analyzed the data of 20 reported cases of WS-related *** mechanisms of pathogenesis,clinico-demographic profile,and clinical implications are described in this *** majority of patients were diagnosed in the second to third decade of life(mean age:26 years),with a strong female preponderance(M:F=1:9).Eleven of the 20 WS patients with left-sided PHT presented with abdominal pain and *** 6 of the 11 patients,varices were detected incidentally on preoperative imaging studies or discovered ***,pre-operative search for varices is required in patients with splenic torsion.

Predicting suitable habitat of an invasive weed Parthenium hysterophorus under future climate scenarios in Chitwan Annapurna Landscape,Nepal

Precipitation-runoff simulation for a Himalayan River Basin, India using artificial neural network algorithms

In the Himalayan regions, precipitation-runoff relationships are amongst the most complex hydrological phenomena, due to varying topography and basin characteristics. In this study, different artificial neural networks （ANNs） algorithms were used to simulate daily nmoff at three discharge measuring sites in the Himalayan Kosi River Basin, India, using various combinations of precipitation-runoff data as input variables. The data used for this study was collected for the monsoon period （June to Oc- tober） during the years of 2005 to 2009. ANNs were trained using different training algorithms, leaming rates, length of data and number of hidden neurons. A comprehensive multi-criteria validation test for precipitation-runoff modeling has been un- dertaken to evaluate model performance and test its validity for generating scenarios. Global statistics have demonstrated that the multilayer perceptron with three hidden layers （MLP-3） is the best ANN for basin comparisons with other MLP networks and Radial Basis Functions （RBF）. Furthermore, non-parametric tests also illustrate that the MLP-3 network is the best net- work to reproduce the mean and variance of observed runoff. The performance of ANNs was demonstrated for flows during the monsoon season, having different soil moisture conditions during period from June to October.

Effect of replenishment of vitamin D on survival in patients with decompensated liver cirrhosis:A prospective study

To assess the vitamin D (VD) deficiency as a prognostic factor and effect of replenishment of VD on mortality in decompensated cirrhosis. METHODSPatients with decompensated liver cirrhosis were screened for serum VD levels. A total of 101 VD deficient patients ( 0.05) and longer survival (155 d vs 141 d; P > 0.05) in treatment group compared to control group. VD level had no significant association with mortality (P > 0.05). In multivariate analysis, treatment with VD supplement was found significantly (P < 0.05; adjusted hazard ratio: 0.48) associated with survival of the patients over 6-mo. CONCLUSIONVD deficiency is very common in patients of decompensated CLD. Replenishment of VD may improve survival in patients with decompensated liver cirrhosis.
