Identification, occurrence, and validation of DRE and ABRE Cis-regulatory motifs in the promoter regions of genes of Arabidopsis thaliana

Plants posses a complex co-regulatory network which helps them to elicit a response under diverse adverse conditions. We used an in silico approach to identify the genes with both DRE and ABRE motifs in their promoter regions in Arabidopsis thaliana. Our results showed that Arabidopsis contains a set of 2,052 genes with ABRE and DRE motifs in their promoter regions. Approximately 72~o or more of the total predicted 2,052 genes had a gap distance of less than 40o bp between DRE and ABRE motifs. For positional orientation of the DRE and ABRE motifs, we found that the DR form （one in direct and the other one in reverse orientation） was more prevalent than other forms. These predicted 2,o52 genes include 155 transcription factors. Using microarray data from The Arabidopsis Information Resource （TAIR） database, we present 44 transcription factors out of 155 which are upregulated by more than twofold in response to osmotic stress and ABA treatment. Fifty-one transcripts from the one predicted above were validated using semiquantitative expression analysis to support the microarray data in TAIR. Taken together, we report a set of genes containing both DRE and ABRE motifs in their promoter regions in A. thaliana, which can be useful to understand the role of ABA under osmotic stress condition.

Effect of protease inhibitor from Agaricus bisporus on glucose uptake and oxidative stress in 3T3-L1 adipocytes

Objective:To explore the effect of the protease inhibitor from Agaricus bisporus(***)Imbach(AbPI)on glucose uptake and oxidative stress in 3 T3-L1 ***:Adipocytes were differentiated and stained with OilRed-O staining to confirm *** toxic/protective effect of AbPI on the adipocytes was determined by MTT assay,intracellular reactive oxygen species generation through flow cytometry,and morphologically through confocal microscopy using propidium iodide,4,6-diamino-2-phenylindol dihydrochloride,and 2’,7’-dichlorofluorescein diacetate *** uptake of fluorescent glucose analog,2-[N-(7-nitrobenz-2-oxa-1,3-diazol-4-yl)amino]-2-deoxy-d-glucose by adipocytes was also studied through confocal ***:MTT assay showed that the cell survival rate was(28.00±3.00)%,(92.33±2.60)%,and(71.34±2.10)%in the presence of 2 mM H2O2,AbPI alone,and AbPI and H2O2 both,respectively,in comparison to the ***-Red-O staining indicated that Ab PI enhanced *** stimulated the glucose uptake by adipocytes similar to the drug rosiglitazone,and showed insulinsensitizing effect in the presence of insulin,but failed to stimulate the uptake in the absence of *** reactive oxygen species generation was reduced in differentiating adipocytes upon Ab PI *** microscopy showed that the damaged cell population rose to 3.50%,117.84%,and 261.50%in the presence of Ab PI alone,AbPI with H2O2,and H2O2 alone,***:The protease inhibitor enhances glucose uptake by adipocytes and exhibits a cytoprotective effect on them.

Variation in the Flaring Potential of Different Sunspot Groups During Different Phases of Solar Cycles 23 and 24

In this present study,we have analyzed different types of X-ray solar flares(C,M,and X classes)coming out from different classes of sunspot groups(SSGs).The data which we have taken under this study cover the duration of 24 yr from 1996 to *** this,we observed a total of 15015 flares(8417 in SC-23 and 6598 in SC-24)emitted from a total of 33780 active regions(21746 in SC-23 and 12034 in SC-24)with sunspot *** defined the flaring potential or flare-production potential as the ratio of the total number of flares produced from a particular type of SSG to the total number of the same-class SSGs observed on the solar *** we studied yearly changes in the flaring potential of different McIntosh class groups of sunspots in different phases of SC-23 and *** addition,we investigated yearly variations in the potential of producing flares by different SSGs(A,B,C,D,E,F,and H)during different phases(ascending,maximum,descending,and minimum)of SC-23 and *** are our findings:(1)D,E,and F SSGs have the potential of producing flares≥8 times greater than A,B,C and H SSGs;(2)The larger and more complex D,E,and F SSGs produced nearly 80%of flares in SC-23 and 24;(3)The A,B,C and H SSGs,which are smaller and simpler,produced only 20%of flares in SC-23 and 24;(4)The biggest and most complex SSGs of F-class have flaring potential 1.996 and 3.443 per SSG in SC-23 and 24,respectively.(5)The potential for producing flares in each SSG is higher in SC-24 than in SC-23,although SC-24 is a weaker cycle than SC-23.(6)The alterations in the number of flares(C+M+X)show different time profiles than the alterations in sunspot numbers during SC-23 and 24,with several peaks.(7)The SSGs of C,D,E,and H-class have the highest flaring potential in the descending phase of both SC-23 and 24.(8)F-class SSGs have the highest flaring potential in the descending phase of SC-23 but also in the maximum phase of SC-24.

Colorimetric Sensor for Detection of Tabun Mimic Diethyl Cyanophosphonate

Herein,a colorimetric chemosensor(probe 7)was designed and synthesized for sensing diethyl cyanophosphonate(DCNP),a Tabun nerve agent *** sensitive,selective,fast response and photostable probe 7 in dimethylsulfoxide(DMSO)responded to DCNP at low concentrations with visual naked eye color change from pink to pale yellow and displayed unresponsive behaviour against various interferences except for copper ions,which can be differentiated by adding ethylene diamine where the yellow color persisted in the case of DCNP but turned to pink in the case of copper ***,the yellow aqueous solution of probe 7 at pH 10 and 12 turned colorless against the response of *** limit of detection(LOD)of probe 7 was found to be 50 nmol/L in an aqueous basic solution at pH 10 for the detection of *** formation of the cyclized product was elucidated by 1H and 31P NMR nuclear magnetic resonance(1H NMR,31P NMR),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),and high-resolution mass spectrometry(HRMS)*** filter paper and silica plate loaded with probe 7 were fabricated for real-time and on-site detection of DCNP.

A novel tri-layer approach for immobilizing metal nanoparticles in SiO2 supports is *** this work,we show that under rapid heating to temperatures of approximately 1,000 ℃,metal nanoparticles less than 15 nm in size will entrench in the SiO2 layer on a silicon wafer to create pores as deep as 250 *** studied and characterized this entrenching behavior and subsequent nanopore formation for a wide variety of metal nanoparticles,including Au,Ag,Pt,Pd,and *** also demonstrate that an Al2O3 layer acts as a barrier to such pore ***,by creating a tri-layer architecture consisting of SiO2 on Al2O3 on silicon wafers,we can control the depth to which nanoparticles entrench between 3-5 *** small range allows one to entrench particles for the purpose of immobilization but still present them above the *** two advances of moving into the sub-15 nm size regime and of controlled particle immobilization through entrenchment have important implications in studying site-isolated and stabilized metal nanoparticles for applications in sensing,separations,and catalysis.

Florid reactive periostitis ossificans of the humerus: Case report and differential diagnosis of periosteal lesions of long bones

A case of florid reactive periostitis ossificans(RPO) arising in a long bone is presented. This is a rare bone proliferation with a pronounced periosteal reaction. Less than 100 cases have been described in the literature with far fewer outside the bones of the hand, feet, fingers, and toes. Although the etiology is unknown, a relationship to preceding trauma is suggested. The imaging and histologic features show an overlap with other bone lesions including bizarre parosteal osteochondromatous proliferation, subungual exostosis, and malignant surface tumors of bone and cartilage which include, periosteal and parosteal osteosarcoma. It is important to recognize the clinical presentation and diagnostic features of RPO as a benign entity so that it is not mistaken for a more aggressive neoplasm. We present a case of a right distal humeral lesion that on histopathological review revealed florid RPO. This diagnosis was not suspected on imaging studies, but was made on open biopsy of the mass. The patient remains disease free, years postoperatively. In addition to presenting this unique case report, we review the pertinent literature, and offer a differential diagnosis and treatment strategy for its management.

Study of morphologic variability of incudostapedial angle and its relation with temporal bone pneumatization

Introduction:Optimal sound transmission across the ossicular chain is dependent on the appropriate alignment of the middle ear *** joint(ISJ)is conventionally considered to be at right ***:We intended to study the ISJ anatomy and the impact of temporal bone pneumatization on the ***:In a cadaveric study comprising of 47 human temporal bones,canal wall down mastoidectomy was carried out under microscopic guidance keeping the ossicular chain *** morphology of ISJ was recorded and analysed with respect to the pneumatization status of the temporal *** data analysis was performed using statistical software Stata version ***:The mean ISJ angle for the 47 bones was 90.5^0(SD-15^0;range:54^0-122^0).The mean angle in well pneumatized bones was 93.7^0(SD-16.5;Range:54°-122^0)and in sclerotic mastoids was 88.7^0(SD-14;Range:68°-118^0).The difference in the ISJ angle in these two conditions was not statistically significant(p=0.27).The mean angle was found to be significantly more obtuse in the cases with partially eroded ISJ(111.4^0{SD-8.8;range:100.3^0-221.9^0};p=0.0001)and in the cases with an‘adherent/tilted morphology’of the stapes suprastructure with the promontory(mean-95.8^0(SD-13.8;range:70.7^0-120.4^0);p-<0.00001).Conclusion:The ISJ angle shows considerable *** variability needs to be taken into account when undertaking middle ear reconstructive procedures,specifically the ones involving the stapes *** mastoid pneumatization does not appear to have an impact on the ISJ angle.

Unhealthy Cooking and Prevalence of Tuberculosis in Indian Women: A Case Study

Unhealthy cooking is one of the major cause of mortality and morbidity and a risk factor for occurrence of tuberculosis among Indian women. India is the TB burden country in the world and accounts for nearly 20 percent of global burden of tuberculosis. The present study establishes the association between unhealthy cooking conditions (use of biomass fuels/chulhas, cooking in multipurpose room, Non-ventilated kitchen, living in kutcha/semi-pucca houses) and prevalence of tuberculosis in women. This study is based on primary sources of data collected through questionnaire interviews from 2101 women respondents belonging to different income categories from Aligarh city. The study examines the socio-economic characteristics, cooking conditions, monitoring of indoor air quality of different types of kitchen locations using different types of fuels. Symptomatic linkages of tuberculosis with type of fuel use, kitchen locations and house type were analysed. The results show that the women using biomass fuels/chulhas cooking in non-ventilated kitchens and multipurpose room, living in kutcha/semi pucca houses were most prone to tuberculosis.

Nutritional Analysis of Fast Food in Streets of Patna Town, Bihar

Mushroom growth of street fast food is a boon for changing lifestyle of urban people. However, its nutritional aspect is also a matter of concern. The objective of the present study was hence to assess the nutrient components of fast food sold in streets of Patna town. A total of 30 fast food samples from streets were collected from different locations of Patna town in aseptic containers and immediately transferred to the laboratory for proximate analysis. Descriptive statistics was used to analyze the collected data. In terms of nutrient contribution, the highest energy content was found in Hot potato chips （536 ~ 85.2 kcal /I00 g） followed by Chicken chawmin （527 ~ 253.08 kcal/plat）, Chilli chicken （464 ~ 91.8 kcal/plat） and Pav bhaji （425 -4- 164 kcal/plat）. Highest level of protein was detected in Chilli chicken at 27.3 ~ 5.01 g per serving. Protein of Chilli chicken supplied approximately 29% of the total energy content per serving. Maximum amount of fat was also found in Chilli ckicken （35.5 ~ 31.89 g/plat）. Total fat contribution of Chilli ckicken to the total energy per serving found to be approximately 67%. Highest level of carbohydrate was detected in Idli at 15.0 ~ 9.18 g per serving of sample which contributed approximately 91% of the total energy content per serving. From this study it was concluded that street fast foods provide an appreciable amount of recommended nutrient composition. It could be observed in this study that street fast foods supply appreciable amount of nutrients and calories to the people of Patna.
