Background and Objective: Female infertility may be attributed to several causes that are fundamentally related to the health status of women. The main objective of this project was to correlate the abundance of the microbiota in cervicovaginal fluid to infertility. Materials & Methods: A total of 36 married women who voluntarily came to the hospital in Riyadh for a routine visit participated in the study. To collect the cervicovaginal liquid, a softcupTM menstrual device was used by the participant;the cup was then transported in a liquid nitrogen box to the laboratory for analysis. Results: The mean vaginal pH in normal women and infertile women was 3.96 and 5.06, respectively, and the difference between the two cohorts was significant (p 5.5, is primarily composed of G. vaginalis, P. anaerobius, Mycoplasma hominis, Mobiluncus species and Atopobium vaginae. The protein content and viscosity of the cervicovaginal liquid were significantly lower in infertile women compared to normal women (p < 0.05).

The paper deals with the development of an empirical model to compute the return flow due to the movement of navigation traffics in restricted waterway when the speed of the navigation traffic is under sub-critical range. The velocity profile of the return flow is modelled, where the functional dependence with respect to ambient flow, principal dimensions of the vessel, wetted cross-sectional area of the river, width and average depth of the river, and the lateral distance of the vessel from the bank are implicitly considered. This model has been validated with the observed data collected from the four specific sites, such as Kampsville, Apple River Island, Goose Island and Clarks Ferry of Illinois River during barge-tow movement. The present model shows significant improvement of return flow prediction in comparison to earlier empirical results. This model has also the ability to determine the locus of zero velocity point.

An understanding of the long-term changes in the nitrate and microbial contamination pattern of the groundwater of sidi Bouzid （Centre west of Tunisia） is critical to conservation of drinking water in rural areas supporting mixed land-use activities such as cropping, livestock farming, and residence. The phreatic aquifer was revealed polluted by domestic disposals of the wastewaters in the urban zone. The average nitrate concentration in the groundwater of the east of the mioplioquaternary aquifer of saddaguia （sidi Bouzid） rose from 50 mg NO3- during 1996 to over 100 mg in 2003, which represents an increase of some 10 mg per year. Nitrate groundwater pollution during the period 1996-2003 was the result of the abusive use of *** the cultivated zone, we must reduce the effects of the excessive use of the nitrogen fertilizers on the basis of monitoring soil once a year, managing water resources, rationalizing the use of the chemical substances. In urban zones, most of lost wells located in the perimeter reveal the gravity of the state of the aquifer. This last is organically polluted and requires an immediate action for the generalization of the purification network. we need to take into account the reality of under soil in all future planning＇s and arrangements. A scheme of sanitation seems necessary before all plans of arrangement. The extension of the sewer network must give the priority to the most vulnerable zones.

基于储集层岩石和流体数据,采用一维数值模拟方法,研究捕集数对碳酸盐岩油藏裂褶菌多糖生物聚合物驱提高采收率的影响。对不可及孔隙体积、生物聚合物吸附量、渗透率降低系数、剪切速率系数、注入水硬度以及捕集数进行敏感性分析,与岩心驱替实验采收率数据进行历史拟合。结果表明,不可及孔隙体积、生物聚合物吸附量、渗透率降低系数、剪切速率系数和注入水硬度对生物聚合物驱提高采收率的影响可以忽略不计,且在其典型值范围内无法与采收率数据实现历史拟合。当通过毛细管去饱和曲线模型考虑捕集数影响时,残余油饱和度从不考虑捕集数影响或低捕集数条件下的25.1%降低到10.0%,采收率拟合效果较好。因此,为了更好地对碳酸盐岩油藏生物聚合物驱进行模拟研究,不能忽略捕集数影响。

Combinatorial chemistry has been a focus of research activity in modern drug discovery and biotechnology. It is a concept by which a vast library of molecular diversity is synthesized and screened for target properties. This report is to illustrate the application of enzyme technology using the concept of combinatorial chemistry as a novel approach for the bioconversion of plant fibers. Citrus pectin was subjected to combinatorial enzyme digestion to create libraries of pectic oligosaccharides with diverse structural variants. Repeated cycles of fractionation and screening resulted in the isolation and identification of an active oligoGalA species with antimicrobial activity.

Rate of Recurrence of Non-small Cell Lung Cancer in Patients Treated with Percutaneous Ablation

Background: Percutaneous ablation therapy as a treatment for non-small cell lung cancer (NsCLC) has been increasingly utilized. There is little data on long term efficacy. Because of this we reviewed the rate of recurrence of all ablation procedures done at our institution for the last 6 years. Methods: A total of 36 patients underwent 43 percutaneous procedures from July 2008 until January 2014 at our institution. There were 9 patients treated with radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and 27 treated withmicrowave ablation (MwA) for stage I NsCLC. Each patient was reviewed to determine if there was a recurrence, the time to recurrence and the characteristics of the original cancer possibly predisposing the procedure to failure. Results: There were 8 recurrences in 9 patients undergoing RFA occurring at a median time of 842 days (range 425 - 1568) after their procedure. MwA was utilized in 27 patients for 34 procedures with 11 patients experiencing recurrences at a median time of 487 days (range 168 - 845). The median follow up time for the RFA patients was 1631 days (4.46 years) and for the MwA patients 751 days (2.06 years). Of the RFA recurrences, 5 involved systemic spread of their cancer and 3 were limited to site recurrences only. Of the MwA recurrences, 5 involved systemic spread of their cancer, 2 had chest wall recurrences and 4 were limited to site recurrences only.
