New fluorine substituted 6-(5’-fluoro-2’-triphenylphosphiniminophenyl) 3-thioxo-1,2,4-triazin-5 (2H, 4H) one (2) was obtained via Wittig’s reaction of the corresponding 6-(5’-fluoro-2’-amino-phenyl)-3-thioxo-1,2,4-triazinone (1). Behavior of compound 2 towards alkylating agents and/or oxidizing agents was studied were, N-hydroxyl (3), mannich base (4,5), S-alkyl (6,7,8) and thiazolo [3,2-b][1,2,4] triazinones (10-14) and or 3-disulfide (18), 3-sulfonic acid 19 and 1,2,4-triazin-3,5-Dionne (20) derivatives obtained. Structures of the new products are established by elemental and spectral data. The new targets obtained screened as molluscicidalagents against Biomophlaria Alexandrina snails responsible for Bilharziasis diseases, in compare with Baylucide as standard drug.

Novel 6-(5’-fluoro-2’-diphenylphosphorylanilido)-3-hydrazino-1,2,4-trizin-5 (2H) one (3) is achieved from hydrozinolysis of the corresponding 3-thioxo-analoges 2. Compound 2 is also obtained from phosphorylation of 6-(5’-fluoro-2’-aminophenyl)-3-thioxo-1,2,4-triazin-5(2H) one (1). Novel fluorine substituted isolated and/or fused heterobicyclic nitrogen systems bearing and/or containing, 6-phosphoryl anilido-1,2,4-trizin-5 (2H) one moiety (4 - 22) have been synthesized from ring closure reactions of compound 3 with π-acceptors activated carbon compounds in different medium and conditions. Structures of the products are characterized by mS, IR, UV-VIS, CH, N, and 1H/13CNmR spectral data. The new products have been evaluated as potential inhibitors towards HIV-1 activity.

AIm:To assess the utility of an autologous CD34 + and CD133 + stem cells infusion as a possible therapeutic modality in patients with end-stage liver ***:One hundred and forty patients with endstage liver diseases were randomized into two *** 1,comprising 90 patients,received granulocyte colony stimulating factor for five days followed by autologous CD34 + and CD133 + stem cell infusion in the portal *** 2,comprising 50 patients,received regular liver treatment only and served as a control ***:Near normalization of liver enzymes and improvement in synthetic function were observed in 54.5% of the group 1 patients;13.6% of the patients showed stable states in the infused *** of the patients in the control group showed *** adverse effects were ***:Our data showed that a CD34 + and CD133 + stem cells infusion can be used as supportive treatment for end-stage liver disease with satisfactory tolerability.

Sustainability is the main concern for current and future construction projects in the world. In any project, attaining sustainability requires the integrity of four main elements. These elements cover economical, societal, cultural, and environmental aspects to its successful implementation and integration in an anthropogenic framework. Concrete is one of the main building materials used in current construction activities around the world;therefore, many issues pertaining to concrete long term sustainability arise. This makes issues related to environmental evaluation and assessment for the ready-mix concrete production process of vital importance. The release of particulate matter (Pm) including Pm10 and Pm2.5 could be considered the main air pollutant that is emitted from this industrial sector;where Pm can be released from different stages of ready-mix concrete production process. Another concern arising from the ready-mix concrete operations which may affect the soil and ground water quality is the spills or leaks that may occur from the storage containers used for diesel, motor oil, and chemical admixture. In 2010, Environmental Agency-Abu Dhabi (EAD) collected data pertaining to the operations of 73 ready-mix concrete facilities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The data showed that the average production rate of concrete is around 250,000 m3/year, which indicates that the concrete industry is a very active industry in the Emirate. Hence, EAD has established a set of plans and requirements to minimize the environmental impacts of concrete production on the environment and public health. The environmental impact of the concrete manufacturing can be reduced by conserving use of raw material ingredients, conserving energy consumption, and following Best management Practices (BmPs) related to readymix concrete production. Introduction: Hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype 4 is the most prevalent in Egypt. Vis-ceral adiposity index (VAI) and (TyG) index are newly developed indices for assess-ment of metabolic syndrome (mS) and insulin resistance (IR). We aimed at comparing their levels in HCV-patients with healthy controls and validate their use for prediction of hepatic histopathological changes. Patient and methods: 78 chronic HCV-infected patients proven by PCR, viral genotyping and hepatic histopathology, and 67 healthy controls were enrolled. Presence of mS, Homeostasis model Assessment for IR esti-mation (HOmA-IR), TyG index, and VAI were assessed. Results: HOmA-IR, TyG and frequency of mS were significantly higher in patients’ group (p p p = 0.002). Conclusion: HCV genotype 4 is significantly associated with mS and increased values of HOmA IR and TyG index. TyG index and VAI are valuable simple indices that could predict the histopathological changes in Egyptian CHC pa-tients.

Study Bacteriocin Production and Optimization Using New Isolates of <i>Lactobacillus</i>spp. Isolated from Some Dairy Products under Different Culture Conditions

Lactobacilli belong to the group of lactic acid bacteria (LAB), that have several distinguished abilities such as production of lactic acid, enzymes such as β-Galactosidase and natural antimicrobial substances called bacteriocins. Bacteriocin is a biopreservative agent potential of suppressing growth of some contaminant bacteria in food industry but its commercial availability is limited and costly. The study aimed to select isolates of Lactobacillus spp. potential for producing bacteriocins to suppress the growth of Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 and Bacillus subtilis NCIB3610, and to optimize the process of bacteriocin production. Results obtained in this study showed that L. acidophilus isolate CH1 was selected as the best candidate for bacteriocin among the four isolates that tested. The largest amounts of the bacteriocins were synthesized only in mRS medium was supplemented with K2HPO4 (1.0%), Tween 80 (1%), Beef extract (1%), glucose, cyctein and peptone extract (1%). The optimization of culture conditions for bacteriocin production areas showed that corn steep liquor medium was the best medium for all isolates against Bacillus subtilis while no effect was observed on Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 except when used mRS medium. The optimum conditions for bacteriocin production were pH 6.0, temperature 34?C with 4% Phenyl acetamide showing the greatest growth inhibition areas.

Background: Paracetamol exerts toxic effects on liver cells through its metabolism into N-acetyl-p-benzoquinone imine (NAPQI), which is detoxified by conjugation with cellular glutathione (GSH). Once GSH is depleted, NAPQI stimulates a range of oxidative reactions that result in cell necrosis. The aim of the present investigation is to find a new strategy that would selectively protect normal hepatic tissues and sensitize liver cancer cells to the toxic effects of paracetamol or its metabolite. This may lead to the development of a targeted therapy for liver cancer. methods: The anti-proliferative effects of paracetamol and buthionine sulfoximine BSO (a glutathione depleting agent) alone and in combination on the liver cancer cells HepG2 and normal rat hepatocytes were investigated by sulphorhodamine-B assay. Effects on cell cycle regulation and induction of apoptosis were tested by flow cytometry. The level of prostaglandin expression was measured by ELISA. Results: The present study showed that both agents alone or in combination have anti-proliferative effects on both cell types. Surprisingly, BSO showed a cytoprotective effects on normal hepatocytes treated with high concentrations (1.75 and 2 mm) of paracetamol. This was confirmed by cell cycle analysis that recorded decreased fraction of sub-G1 cells indicating reduction of apoptosis in normal hepatocytes. Analysis of prostaglandin E2 revealed differential effects of paracetamol on normal and liver cancer cells. A significant increase in PGE2 level over the control was observed in normal hepatocytes whereas a significant decrease was seen in HepG2 cells after treatment with paracetamol. Conclusion: These results indicate that combination of paracetamol/BSO has differential effects on liver cancer cells and normal hepatocytes, which opens the avenue for a new effective and selective combination for management of liver cancer.

The aim of this study was to the evaluation of frequency and distribution of Serratia marcescens in the hospital departments and determination of antimicrobial resistance of the isolated strains. methods: The study included 81 Serratia marcescens strains isolated from 61 patients hospitalized in the in the different hospital wards of Al-Noor Specialist Hospital within the period from 1/11/2012 to 1/11/2013. The strains were isolated from wound swabs, blood cultures, sputum, urine culture, fluid, catheter and throat swab, wound swabs, blood cultures and cerebrospinal fluid. Results: The isolates were identified by conventional method and the results and susceptibility testing were confirmed by VITEC-2 Compact. most frequently Serratia marcescens has been implicated in ICU [21%] followed by male medical [18.5%] and emergency department [12.3%]. The resistance of Serratia strains was high, excepting imipenem (15%), meropenem (27) and the resistance was higher with ampicillin (97.5%), Cefoxitin (90%) and Tetracycline (86%). Conclusion: Continuous monitoring of nosocomial infections is indispensable. Phenotypic characterization of the isolates is useful for studying the relationship of microbial pathogens.

BACKGROUND Endoscopic ultrasonography(EUS)has become an established method in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in gastroenterology;however,it has recently gained a growing role in *** To evaluate the role of EUS features,strain elastography(SE),and EUS-tissue acquisition in diagnosing hepatic focal lesions(HFLs)that could affect further *** This cross-sectional study included 215 patients with pancreatic,biliary,or gastrointestinal malignancies referred for EUS *** were identified in 43 patients(20%),and EUSguided tissue acquisition was performed from these *** EUS features were highly sensitive(100%)but much less specific(57%)in diagnosing HFLs;the overall accuracy was 94%.Real-time elastography was also very sensitive(97%)but less specific(67%)in diagnosing HFLs;however,the overall accuracy was 92%.EUS tissue acquisition was extremely sensitive(100%)and specific(100%),with a 100%overall diagnostic *** The diagnostic utility of EUS-guided tissue acquisition was extremely accurate in diagnosing *** characteristics and real-time SE accurately predicted the histological diagnosis of both benign and malignant HFLs.

Background: Tailoring therapy is the target in the management of any cancer;if factors which can predict response to treatment are identified, we can individualize treatment. Locally advanced rectal cancer studies reported that tumor microenvironment and host immune response played roles in sensitivity to chemoradiotherapy (CRT) by proving that both peripheral circulating lymphocytes and tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) strongly correlated with the response rate to CRT and it impacted disease outcome. Aim of the work: We aimed to assess the predictive value of peripheral blood lymphocytes and tumor infiltrating lymphocytes by correlation with regression rate post chemo-radiotherapy in patients with rectal cancer, and to find correlation between peripheral and tissue lymphocytes. method: Before neoadjuvant, CRT venous blood samples were obtained from 40 patients with rectal cancer, and prior to surgery. Blood cell counts in the samples were analyzed using an automated hematology analyzer and flowcytometry used to analyze lymphocyte subsets. Colonscopic biopsies were obtained before the CRT;the numbers and distributions of T cells (CD4 & CD8) were evaluated by immunostaining. Results: Pre CRT peripheral total lymphocytes, T lymphocytes, T helper, T cytotoxic lymphocytes significantly correlated with tumor regression rate (p = 0.04, 0.05, 0.06, 0.04 respectively). The density of tissue CD4(+) and CD8(+) T cells was highly correlated with tumor regression post CRT (p = 0.01 for both). The high expressions of tissue CD4 & CD 8 were significantly correlated with high number of pretreatment peripheral total lymphocytes, T lymphocytes, T helper, and T cytotoxic lymphocytes with significant p value for all. Conclusion: We concluded that peripheral lymphocytic count and its subsets have significant correlation to tissue CD4, CD8 and both can predict pathological response to CRT;enhancement of lymphocytes mediated immune response can help for outcome improvement.
