A four new penicillinate complexes were prepared through the chemical interactio ns of penicillin potassium salt (Pin) with YCl 3, GeCl 4, WCl 6 and SiCl 4 m etal ions. These metal complexes were characterized using spectroscopic techniqu es (e.g. 1H-NMR, infrared, electronic UV-Vis) as well as elemental, cond uctivity, and magnetic measurements. The molar conductance values were highly, s howing their electrolytic nature. The magnetic and electronic study strongly rec ommends the octahedral geometry of all penicillinate complexes. A monomeric stru ctures of Pin complexes are proposed with octahedral coordinated metals ions. Th e metal ions are coordinated toward Pin as tridentate ligand through the amide a nd β-lactam carbonyls and a carboxylate group from penicillin. The in vitro antimicrobial activity of all the complexes, at concentrations in μg·mL^-1 , was screened against four bacterial pathogens, na.ely, Bacillus subtilis , Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa , and Staphylococcus aureus , and two kinds of fungi Aspergillus flavus and Candida albicans showed better activi ty compared to parent drug and control drug. The anti-cancer inhibition of the tungsten(Ⅵ) complex was assessed against the human hepato cellular carcinoma (H epG-2) tumor cell line with IC50 value is 646 μg·mL^-1 .

Herein,this article was focused on the synthesis and discussed the spectroscopic characterizations of four new scandium(Ⅲ)sulfa-drug complexes.The nomenclature and symbols of these drugs were sulfadimidine(sulp-1),sulfanilamide(sulp-2),sulfamethoxazole(sulp-3)and sulfadiazine(sulp-4).The microanalytical and spectroscopic analyses which utilized in this study were micro-analyses,magnetic,FT-IR,UV-Vis techniques.The mid infrared spectra deduced that the four sulfa-drug chelates acts as a bidentate chelates with scandium(Ⅲ)ion via two nitrogen atoms of-NH2-Ar and-NH-SO2 groups.Also,the FTIR spectra of Sc3+complexes referred to the existed of new medium weak bands in the range of 500~400 cm^-1 due to stretching vibration bands ofν(M-N).The elemental analysis technique confirmed the 1∶2 stoichiometry between Sc3+ions and sulp ligand with molecular formula[Sc(sulp)2(Cl)2]·Cl.At room temperature,the results of magnetic measurements for the Sc(Ⅲ)complexes indicated that all of the synthesized complexes have a diamagnetic character with octahedral configuration.The electronic spectra of the free sulfa-drug ligands shows band at 275 and 310 nm which are intraligand charge transfer band.The electronic sbsorption spectra of the Sc3+complexes were recorded using DMSO solvent.The spectra of complexes display bands within 275~388 nm,which attributed toπ-π*,n-π*and charge-transfer M-LCT electronic transitions,which strongly favors the octahedral geometry around Sc(Ⅲ)metal ions.1HNMR spectra of complexes referred to the downfield proton shifts of the-NH2 and NHSO2 groups,which supported the place of coordination.The half maximal inhibitory concentration(IC50)of the ScⅢcomplexes was assessed against the human hepato cellular carcinoma(HepG-2)tumor cell line.

Pipemidic acid is one of an efficient quinolone antibacterial drug.Thecomplexitybetween pipemidic acid“Hpipc”withgallium(Ⅲ),germanium(Ⅳ)and silicon(Ⅳ)afforded three molecular formulas of[Ga(pipc)2(H 2O)(Cl)]·4H 2O,1,[Ge(pipc)2(Cl)2]·4H 2O,2 and[Si(pipc)2(Cl)2]·4H 2O,3 complexes.These three new complexes were characterized based on elemental analysis,conductance,FTIR,UV-Vis,^1HNMR and XRD spectroscopy.The pipc chelate exhibits O,O coordinated through the carbonyl(C O)and carboxylato(COO)of both oxygen atoms.Six coordinate geometry was proposed regarding complexes of 2 and 3,so the axial position was occupied by two coordinated chlorideatoms.In vitro,the antibacterial,antifungal,and anti-cancer assessments concerning the synthesized pipc complexes were scanned.These complexes have an excellent anti-microbial activity.

Obesity is complex heterogeneous disease controlled by genes,environmental factors,and their interaction.Genetic factors account for 40e90%of the body mass index variations.Body mass index(BMI)of children correlates more closely with maternal than paternal BMI.So,this studu was aimed to investigate the role of leptin receptor LEPR Gln223Arg,the uncoupling protein 2(UCP2 G 866 A)and insulin receptor gene(INSR exon 17)polymorphisms in the pathogenesis of obesity.A cross-sectional study executed on 130 children and their obese mothers;classified into 2 groups according to their BMI.The 2 groups were evaluated regarding the anthropometry.Restriction fragment length analysis for LEPR Gln223Arg,UCP2-866 G/A and INSR exon 17 polymorphisms were applied.It was reported that increased risk of obesity was found in LEPR AG t AA genotype and the A allele.Significant statistical difference was detected only in female children.Concerning UCP2,the AG followed by the GG genotype was the most frequent in all groups and the G allele was the mostly present in obese mothers and obese male children but with no statistical significance.There was difference in the INSR genotype and alleles between groups,but this difference was not statistically significant.This study concluded that the LEPR Gln223Arg,UCP2 G 866 A and INSR exon 17 polymorphisms are related to obesity in Egyptian population.Further researches on larger population are recommended to ascertain the implications of LEPR,UCP2 and INSR polymorphisms in obesity.

Tuberculosis/toxoplasmosis co-infection in Egyptian patients:A reciprocal impact

Objective:To assess the concurrent toxoplasmosis infection in Egyptian TB patients and the impact of each infection on the other in terms of increased severity of TB or reactivation of latent Toxoplasma infection.Methods:Three hundred suspected pulmonary TB cases were initially screened for TB using direct Ziehl Neelsen staining and Lowenstein Jensen culture of their sputa.Rifampicin resistance was detected by Xpert MTB/RIF assay.Control group of 30 age and sex-matched healthy individuals negative for TB was included for comparison.All subjects were further assessed for serum levels of anti-Toxoplasma Ig G antibodies and malondialdehyde(MDA).Results:Forty three confirmed TB-infected patients including 10(23.3%)rifampicin-resistant patients were detected.Associated toxoplasmosis was found to be significantly higher among TB patients(OR=2.709;95%CI:1.034-7.099;Pels of anti-Toxoplasma IgG antibodies and MDA were significantly higher among TB patients than the control group.Furthermore,serum level of MDA was significantly higher among TB/Toxoplasma co-infected patients as compared to toxoplasmosis free-TB patients.Strong positive correlation was detected between serum levels of anti-Toxoplasma Ig G and MDA in TB patients(r=0.75,P=0.001).Conclusions:Among pulmonary TB Egyptian patients,there is a considerable prevalence of toxoplasmosis.Severity of pulmonary tuberculosis could be increased by Toxoplasma co-infection.

目的:探讨胰岛素样生长因子1(insulin-like growth factor1,IGF1)基因单核苷酸多态性(SNP)与埃及水牛生长性状的关联性。创新点:发现IGF1基因多态性对埃及水牛的生长性状、血液生化指标和基因表达有显著影响,并为埃及水牛的选育提供重要的分子遗传标记。方法:以200头埃及水牛为试验对象,对其IGF1基因的多态性进行检测,并分析其与生长性状、血液生理生化指标和基因表达的相关性。结论:在水牛IGF1基因多态性分析中,发现两个新的SNP位点(G64A和G280A)分别分布在外显子1和外显子4的非编码区。不同基因型的统计分析表明,G64A和G280A位点的GG基因型水牛个体分别在3~6月龄和6~9月龄的体重(BW)和平均日增重(ADG)均显著高于其他基因型(P<0.05)。这两个SNPs位点的组合基因型产生了三种单倍体GG/GG、AG/AG和AA/AA。在3~12月龄的水牛个体中,单倍体基因型与BW和ADG存在显著关联(P<0.0001)。纯合的GG/GG单倍体基因型水牛生长性能优于其他水牛。两个SNP位点与半腱肌中IGF1和IGF1R的mRNA水平以及IGF1血清浓度水平相关。此外,GG/GG单倍体水牛表现出较高的mRNA和血清浓度水平。综上所述,这两种SNP位点G64A和G280A可作为埃及水牛生长性状选育的重要分子遗传标记。

Objective: To evaluate in-vitro antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antitumor abilities against human breast adenocarcinoma(MCF7) and human prostate cancer(PC3) as well as the suppressor effect of bacterial exopolysaccharide(BAEPS) on Ehrlich ascites carcinoma(EAC). Methods: In-vitro antioxidants characters of BAEPS were determined using various methods, while anti-inflammatory activity was estimated against cyclooxygenase(COX-1 and COX-2). In-vitro study, anticancer against MCF7 and PC3 were assessed by the mitochondrial dependent reduction of yellow MTT. In in-vivo study against EAC progression, mice were inoculated with EAC cells and then were orally administered BAEPS at 200 mg/kg after 24 h(equals to 0.10 of determined LD50)/10 d. Results: BAEPS was acidic exopolysaccharide contained uronic acid(12.3%) and sulfate(22.8%) with constitution of glucose, galactose and glucuronic acid in a molar ratio1.6: 1.0: 0.9, respectively, with a molecular mass of 3.76伊104 g/mol. BAEPS appeared potent antioxidant characters as free radical scavenging, oxygen reactive species scavenging and metal chelation, while its reducing power was low. BAEPS showed selective anti-inflammatory activity against COX-2 than COX-1, COX-2 selective. BAEPS exhibited potent and selective effect to breast cell cancer MCF7, the death percentage was 65.20% with IC_(50)=70 μg/m L and IC_(90)=127.40 μg/m L. BAEPS decreased counted viable EAC cells and induced non-viable cells. BAEPS improved all assessed hematological parameters. These improvements were reflected in the increasing median survival time and significant increment(P<0.05) in life span. Conclusions: BAEPS has anti-tumor activity with a good margin of safety. The anti-tumor activity of BAEPS may be due to its content from sulfated groups and uronic acids and they have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

The ion-acoustic solitary wave in collisionless unmagnetized plasma consisting of warm ions-fluid and isothermal electrons is studied using the time fractional KdV equation. The reductive perturbation method has been employed to derive the Korteweg-de Vries equation for small but finite amplitude ion-acoustic wave in warm plasma. The Lagrangian of the time fractional KdV equation is used in a similar form to the Lagrangian of the regular KdV equation with fractional derivative for the time differentiation. The variation of the functional of this Lagrangian leads to the Euler-Lagrange equation that gives the time fractional KdV equation. The variational-iteration method is used to solve the derived time fractional KdV equation. The calculations of the solution are carried out for different values of the time fractional order. These calculations show that the time fractional can be used to modulate the electrostatic potential wave instead of adding a higher order dissipation term to the KdV equation. The results of the present investigation may be applicable to some plasma environments, such as the ionosphere plasma.

Corona Virus Disease-2019(COVID-19)continues to spread rapidly in the world.It has dramatically affected daily lives,public health,and the world economy.This paper presents a segmentation and classification framework of COVID-19 images based on deep learning.Firstly,the classification process is employed to discriminate between COVID-19,non-COVID,and pneumonia by Convolutional Neural Network(CNN).Then,the segmentation process is applied for COVID-19 and pneumonia CT images.Finally,the resulting segmented images are used to identify the infected region,whether COVID-19 or pneumonia.The proposed CNN consists of four Convolutional(Conv)layers,four batch normalization layers,and four Rectified Linear Units(RelUs).The sizes of Conv layer used filters are 8,16,32,and 64.Four maxpooling layers are employed with a stride of 2 and a 2×2 window.The classification layer comprises a Fully-Connected(FC)layer and a soft-max activation function used to take the classification decision.A novel saliencybased region detection algorithm and an active contour segmentation strategy are applied to segment COVID-19 and pneumonia CT images.The acquired findings substantiate the efficacy of the proposed framework for helping the specialists in automated diagnosis applications.
