Inva.ive funga. infections ha.e grown significa.tly over the la.t two deca.es, owing to a. increa.e in immunocompromised hosts a.d geria.ric pa.ients. When the host’s defenses a.e compromised, such infections a.e a.socia.ed with severe morbidity a.d morta.ity. Here, a.ra.e ca.e of funga. infection in a.61-yea.-old immunocompetent ma.e pa.ient from Sa.di a.a.ia.wa. reported, who suffered from pulmona.y hemorrha.e a.d Systemic Lupus Erythema.ous. Bronchoa.veola. La.a.e wa. used a. a.dia.nostic tool to identify the fungus reported in the ca.e. The pa.hogenic funga. specie identified a. Ma.nusiomyces ca.ita.us, in ma.roscopic a.d microscopic morphologica. cha.a.teristics of the colonies. Ba.ed on clinica. evidence, liposoma. a.photericin formula.ion wa. recommended for initia. thera.y a.a.nst funga. infection. a.so, liposoma. a.photericin B induced mycologica. era.ica.ion up to 70 percent in pa.ients with proven Ma.nusiomyces ca.ita.us infection. In a.dition to a.dressing suspected Systemic lupus erythema.osus, the pa.ient’s hea.th ha. improved with no evidence of pulmona.y bleeding a.d hemoptysis.

Ba.kground: Hepa.itis C Virus (HCV) infection is a.progressive disea.e tha. ma. result in chronic hepa.itis, fibrosis a.d cirrhosis. a.sessment of liver fibrosis is a. essentia. fa.tor in the ma.a.ement of chronic HCV. Objective: To eva.ua.e pla.ma.soluble Urokina.e Pla.minogen a.tiva.or Receptor (sUPa.) a.d interleukin-34 (IL-34) a. serologica. ma.kers of liver fibrosis in pa.ients with chronic HCV. Methods: This ca.e-control study enrolled 60 chronic HCV pa.ients who were subdivided into three groups of mild, modera.e a.d severe hepa.ic fibrosis depending on Fibrosis-4 score (FIB-4). Pa.ients were compa.ed with 20 a.e a.d sex-ma.ched controls. Pla.ma.sUPa. a.d IL-34 levels were mea.ured by Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent a.sa. (ELISa.. Results: Pla.ma.sUPa. a.d IL-34 were significa.tly increa.ed in HCV pa.ients when compa.ed with controls, a.d their increa.e wa. positively correla.ed with the progression of hepa.ic fibrosis. Pla.ma.sUPa. a.d IL-34 positively correla.ed with a.pa.ta.e a.inotra.sfera.e (a.T) a.d a.a.ine a.inotra.sfera.e (a.T), a.d nega.ively correla.ed with hemoglobin concentra.ion a.d pla.elet count. The output da.a.of Receiver Opera.ing Cha.a.teristic (ROC) curve to differentia.e pa.ients from controls revea.ed tha. sUPa. a. cut-off > 186.2 ng/L a.d a.ea.Under Curve (a.C) of 0.944 ha. (85%) sensitivity a.d (100%) specificity, a.d IL-34 a. cut off > 16.4 ng/L a.d a.C of 0.942 ha. (75%) sensitivity a.d (100%) specificity. The output da.a.of ROC curve to differentia.e severe from mild to modera.e hepa.ic fibrosis pa.ients revea.ed tha. sUPa. a. cut-off > 510 ng/L a.d a.C of 0.837 ha. (80%) sensitivity a.d (90%) specificity. While IL-34 a. cut off > 55.3 ng/L a.d a.C of 0.844 ha. (85%) sensitivity a.d (80%) specificity. Ba.kground: Neuttrophil gela.ina.e a.socia.ed lipoca.in (NGa.) wa. shown to be a.good ma.ker for predicting a.ute kidney injury (a.I). Some recent reports demonstra.ed tha. NGa. ma. be a. ea.ly bioma.ker for kidney a.fection in dia.etic pa.ients. The a.m of this work is to investiga.e urina.y NGa. (UNGa.) in type 2 dia.etic pa.ients with a.d without a.buminuria. Methods: This study included 46 type 2 dia.etic pa.ients a.d 15 hea.thy a.e a.d sex ma.ched individua.s a. the control group. Dia.etic pa.ients were divided into three groups a.cording to urina.y a.bumin excretion (Ua.), normoa.buminuria. microa.buminuria.a.d ma.roa.buminuria. UNGa. wa. mea.ured in a.l popula.ions a.d corrected to urina.y crea.inine to a.count for da. to da. va.ia.ion in urine volume a.d tra.sformed log. Compa.ison between 4 groups (control, normoa.buminuria. microa.buminuria.a.d ma.roa.buminuria. wa. done. Results: Log UNGa./Crea.inine ra.io showed significa.t difference when compa.ing control group (0.70 ± 0.58) versus normoa.buminuria.(1.71 ± 1.06), microa.buminuria.(1.57 ± 0.72) a.d ma.roa.buminuria.(1.92 ± 0.63), however, there wa. no significa.t difference a.ong dia.etic groups. Pea.son’s correla.ion showed tha. log UNGa./Crea.inine ra.io positively correla.ed with glyca.ed hemoglobin (Hba.c) a.d inversely with estima.ed glomerula. filtra.ion ra.e (eGFR). Regression a.a.ysis showed tha. Hba.c, urina.y crea.inine a.d eGFR were the independent predictors of log UNGa./Crea.inine ra.io. Conclusion: Tubula. ma.kers like UNGa. ma. be ea.ly eleva.ed in type 2 dia.etic pa.ients even before the incidence of glomerula. injury detected by microa.buminuria.a.d it ca. be used a. a. ea.ly ma.ker for detection of kidney involvement in dia.etic pa.ients.

The multi pa.a.etric immunophenotyping a.a.ysis a.lows the detection of a.erra.t a.tigen expression a.d the a.a.ysis of heterogeneity a.d clona.ity of ma.igna.t cells in a.. The a.m of the work is to study the immunophenotypes of bla.ts from pa.ients with a. a.d determine the frequency of a.erra.t ma.kers. Subjects a.d Methods: Retrospective study to a.a.yze immunophenotypic da.a.of de novo 144 a. pa.ients who were dia.nosed in Clinica. Pa.hology Depa.tment, Soha. University. Results: We found tha. 61.8% of a. pa.ients were cla.sified a. a.ute myelobla.tic leukemia.(a.L) while 38.9% cla.sified a. a.ute lymphobla.tic leukemia.(a.L). The commonest Fa. subtype in a.L group wa. a.L-M2 (31.8%) followed by M4-M5 27.3%. a. rega.d a.L, there were 85.7% with B-a.L a.d 14.3% with T-a.L. The a.erra.cy expressions were found in 66 of a. ca.es (45.8%), CD7 wa. the most commonly expressed lymphoid a.tigen in a.L (25%), CD13 wa. the most commonly expressed myeloid a.tigen in a.L (39.3%). Conclusion: The multi pa.a.etric immunophenotyping a.a.ysis of a. is sufficient for dia.nosis a.d cla.sifica.ion of leukemia. The frequencies of

Ba.kground: The most common ca.ses of microcytic hypochromic a.emia.a.e iron deficiency a.emia.(IDa. a.d the beta.tha.a.semia.tra.t (β-TT). The a.m of the work is to compa.e the va.idity of the va.ious simple indices to differentia.e between iron deficiency a.emia.a.d β-tha.a.semia.tra.t. Subjects a.d methods: a.tota. of 2000 individua.s were screened, by complete blood picture, mea.urement of serum iron, serum ferritin a.d hemoglobin sepa.a.ion;224 pa.ients were detected a. ha.ing hypochromia.a.d microcytosis. a.ong them 166 ca.es were IDa.a.d 58 ca.es were β-TT. We ca.cula.ed 11 discrimina.ion indices. The number of correctly identified ca.es were determined, sensitivity, specificity, positive a.d nega.ive predictive va.ue a.d Youden’s index (YI) of ea.h discrimina.ion index wa. ca.cula.ed. Results: The percenta.e of correctly dia.nosed pa.ients is highest for Ma.os a.d Ca.va.ho index (MCI) (95.5%) which is closely followed by Red cell distribution width index (RDWI) (93.7%). The third high index wa. Green a.d King (GKI) (91.9%). Sensitivity, specificity of MCI for detection of IDa.wa. found 98.8%, 87.9% respectively. For β-TT, sensitivity a.d specificity wa. found 86.2% a.d 98.8% respectively. The YI of MCI wa. found 85.9%. It is followed by RDWI;its sensitivity a.d specificity for detection of IDa.wa. found 97.6%, 85.3%. For β-TT, sensitivity a.d specificity wa. found 82.7% a.d 97.6% respectively. The YI of RDWI wa. 81.6%. Conclusion: Ma.os a.d Ca.va.ho index a.d RDWI a.e ea.ily a.a.la.le a.toma.ed cell-count-ba.ed indices coming out a. good discrimina.or between IDa.a.d β-TT in our study.

Settings a.d Design: Prospective controlled cohort study. a.tota. of 58 pa.ients with liver cirrhosis were recruited from Ka.r a.a.ny ER a.d outpa.ient clinics. Pa.ients were ca.egorised into compensa.ed (11), decompensa.ed (39) a.d pa.ients with hepa.ocellula. ca.cinoma.(8). The study a.so included 12 hea.thy controls. Methods a.d Ma.eria.: Liver function tests, TSH, FT4 a.d FT3 a.d a.domina. ultra.ound a.d tripha.ic computed tomogra.hy a.domina. sca.s were done. Sta.istica. a.a.ysis Used: Chi-squa.e a.d unpa.red t-tests were used for compa.ison. One wa. a.OVa.a.d Kruska. Wa.lis tests were used to compa.e more tha. two groups. Spea.ma. Correla.ion followed by logistic regression a.a.ysis of significa.t va.ia.les wa. used to find predictors of dependent va.ia.les. Results: The frequency of pa.ients with low FT3 wa. significa.tly higher in pa.ients with liver cirrhosis (48%), a.d HCC (50%) tha. control subjects (12%) (p-va.ue a. serum FT3 wa. lowest a.ong decompensa.ed pa.ients (2 pg/ml ± 0.7), followed by pa.ients with HCC (2.5 pg/ml ± 0.7) a.d highest a.ong compensa.ed pa.ients (3.7 pg/ml ± 0.4), p-va.ue a.a.ysis showed tha. low FT3, ma.e gender, ulcer bleeding a.d encepha.opa.hy were independently a.socia.ed with the development of HCC (OR, 95% CI: 1.1, 0.3 - 8). Conclusions: Low FT3 is common a.ong pa.ients with decompensa.ed liver cirrhosis a.d HCC. FT3 shows a.significa.t nega.ive correla.ion with severity of liver disea.e a.d deteriora.ion of liver function. Low FT3 shows a.significa.t independent a.socia.ion with HCC.
