In this paper,a novel 2-DOF rotational pointing mechanism(RPM)is designed inspired by the guidelines of the graphical *** mechanism integrates with a fast steering mirror(FSM)for compensating pointing errors of a laser *** design intends to achieve an angular travel of±10 mrad and steers a 25 mm mirror aperture.A planar flexure with beam flexures accompanied in parallel with an axial flexure build-up mechanism *** mechanismbased RPM ensures high precision and *** characteristics are established based on the stiffness matrix method for four different planar flexure *** layout with best in-plane rotational compliance is then assessed for performance sensitivity to mechanism dimension parameters and parasitic error,thus informing the design *** stiffness in both the inplane rotational axes and stress is determined based on finite element analysis(FEA).The wire electrical discharge machining(EDM)is employed for developing the proof of concept for the RPM and is then assembled in *** are conducted to determine the rotational stiffness and angular travel about both in-plane rotational *** among theoretical,numerical and experiments reveal excellent linearity of rotational stiffness along the rotational travel *** maximum theoretical error is less than 5.5%compared with FEA while,the experimental error has a mean of 5%and 3%for both rotational axes thus satisfying the intended design requirement.

Red and white guavas were treated with wax emulsion or irradiation (0.25-2.0 kGy) and kept for 12 days at room temperature. Initiation of rot attack occurred after 3 days which increased significantly during further storage. In the waxed fruits rottage, weight loss and vitamin loss were significantly less than controls and irradiated ones. Sensory scores decreased with storage time and they ranged 3.7-4.5, 2.1-3.9 and 2.3-2.7 in waxed, radiated and untreated controls respectively, after 12 days storage. Waxing was found to increase the. shelf life of this fruit for 3-4 d while irradiation exhibited no beneficial effects.

In this study, inhibition of tall oil fatty acid hydrodeoxygenation(HDO) activity due to addition of rosin acid over sulfided Ni Mo/Al_2O_3 was investigated. Oleic acid and abietic acid were used as model compounds for fatty acid and rosin acid respectively in tall oil. After completion of each HDO experiment,the Ni Mo catalysts were recovered and used again under the same conditions. The results showed that the oleic acid HDO activity of sulfided catalysts was inhibited by addition of abietic acid due to competitive adsorption and increased coke deposition. The rate of carbon deposition on the catalysts increased when abietic acid was added to oleic acid feed. Moreover, the coke was in a more advanced form with higher stability for the catalysts exposed to both oleic acid and abietic acid. Furthermore, a clear correlation between the rate of coke formation and concentration of abietic acid was observed.

A Ag/ZnO nanocomposite has been synthesized and characterized for investigating its photocatalytic activity. The morphology and particle size of the Ag/ZnO was studied by scanning electron microscope （SEM） and the microstructure of the as-synthesized nanocomposite was confirmed by X-ray diffraction （XRD） analysis. The elemental com- position of the metal oxide was determined by energy dispersion spectrometry （EDS）. Diffuse reflectance spectra （DRS）, Photoluminescence （PL） spectra, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR） were also studied for characterizing the nanocomposite. The average particle size was found to be around 20-30 nm. Photocatalytic activity of Ag/ZnO has been investigated over methyl violet （6B） dye under UV and visible light irradiation. The degradation of methyl violet （6B） dye using ZnO and Ag/ZnO was compared and found that Ag/ZnO composite is more efficient than ZnO. The rate of disappearance of dye was monitored spectrophotometrically in the maximum visible absorption wavelength and the extent of degradation was discussed in terms of Langmuir-Hinshelwood model. The Ag/ZnO composite was found capable of degrading the industrial dye effluent. Effect of H202 addition on dye degradation by the Ag/ZnO was investigated and Ag/ ZnO was found to be an effective antimicrobial agent. Reusability of Ag/ZnO catalyst was also tested.

The indirect photocatalytic reduction of arsenate to arsenite in aqueous solution with titanium dioxide(TiO_2)was investigated with various hole scavengers such as methanol, ethanol, 2-propanol, formaldehyde, acetone,formic acid and acetic acid. Although the direct photocatalytic reduction of arsenate to arsenite with TiO_2 was impossible, an indirect reduction of As(V) was possible in the presence of sacrificial electron donors to form strongly reductive radicals. The addition of ethanol was very effective for indirect photocatalytic reduction of As(V) in aqueous solution with TiO_2 photocatalyst. The indirect photocatalytic reduction rate of As(V) may be related with both the reaction rate constants of reaction of hydroxyl radicals with hole scavenger and the reactivities for the radicals M· which are produced by the reaction of ·OH with hole scavenger.

In irrigated agricultural systems,nitrogen(N)and water are the vital resources for sustainability of the crop production in the modern era of climate *** current study aimed to assess the impact of water and N management on the productivity of irrigated rice *** the context,a field observation was done at the research farm of Bangladesh Agricultural University,Mymensingh,during dry seasons in consecutive two years(2018–2019 and 2019–2020).The experiments were set up following split-plot design assigning water management in the main plots,nitrogen management in the sub-plots,and the cultivars were approved in the split-split plot with three *** two years observation,it was revealed that rice cultivar Binadhan-8 gave the maximum value of leaf area index,number effective tillers hill-1 and grains panicle-1 which lead to the higher grain yield(GY).Substantial relationships were observed among the concentration of N,growth,total dry matter(TDM)and N content,N uptake,N utilization effectiveness,and ***,with little exception,the Combined effect of water and N,cultivars and water management were varied significantly for all ***,the results of the current study concluded that application of irrigation at 8 days after the disappearance of ponded water and source of 105 kg N ha-1 from PU+Poultry manure are the best management approach for the excellent performance of rice cultivar Binadhan-8.

In this paper, soil resistivity and ground resistance at two different sites near an electrical substation are measured using a grounding system grid with and without rods. With the Wenner four-pole equal-method, the soil resistivity is measured at both selected sites, one of which contains wet soil while the other contains dry soil. Cymgrd simulation software is then used to determine the acceptability of these measured resistivity values by finding out the root mean square error between the measured and calculated values for both wet and dry soil sites. These values for wet and dry soil sties were found to be only 0 %and 4.92 %, respectively, and deemed acceptable. The measured soil resistivity values were then used to evaluate the ground resistance values of a grounding grid ‘with rod’for the wet soil site and ‘without rods’ for the dry soil site,and then compared with the simulated ground resistance values. These comparisons were also found to be in good agreement. In addition, ground potential rise, maximum permissible step and touch potentials have also been estimated using the simulation software.

Healthcare is one of the major applications of wireless systems that possess crucial issues. Specifically developing countries require a low cost and reliable network with efficient protocols. The most challenging concern of Body Area Network (BAN) is heterogeneity, which requires fairness with reliability among all the network nodes. Solutions proposed for these networks either do not provide fair packet transmission or consume high energy and introduce delays. In this paper, we propose a cross layer protocol for healthcare applications meeting the requirements and challenges of the heterogeneous BAN. The protocol is also feasible for developing countries as it can be implemented over existing wireless infrastructure and provides high network reliability with energy efficiency through cooperation and adaptability. Results show that the proposed scheme improves reliability, throughput, Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), and energy consumption for scalable and mobile networks over conventional BAN protocols.

Driving behavior is one of the main reasons that causes bottleneck on the freeway or restricts the capacity of signalized *** paper proposes a car-following scheme in a model predictive control(MPC)framework to improve the traffic flow behavior,particularly in stopping and speeding up of individual vehicles in dense urban traffic under a connected vehicle(CV)*** information received through vehicle-to-vehicle(V2V)communication,the scheme predicts the future states of the preceding vehicle and computes the control input by solving a constrained optimization problem considering a finite future *** objective function is to minimize the weighted costs due to speed deviation,control input,and unsafe *** scheme shares the planned driving information with the following vehicles so that they can make better cooperative driving *** proposed car-following scheme is simulated in a typical driving scenario with multiple vehicles in dense traffic that has to stop at red signals in multiple *** speeding up or queue clearing and stopping characteristics of the traffic using the proposed scheme is compared with the existing car-following scheme through numerical simulation.

RADIATION EFFECTS ON SOME PHYSICO-BIOCHEMICAL CHANGES IN PISUM SATIVUM

Effect of irradiation treatment (0.5, 1.0, 2.0 and 4.0 kGy) on fresh pea cultivars was investigated. Results indicated that significant decrease in colour (% transmittance) and ascorbic acid occurred due to storage period. Higher irradiation treatments showed a significant difference in colour retention in both the cultivars. Visual observation indicated no sprouting until 6th days after which sprouting started in both the cultivars irrespective of radiation treatments. At higher irradiation dose (4.00 kGy) sprouts died soon after emergence. Peas irradiated at 2.0-4.0 kGy doses showed rottage after 9-12 days of storage in both the varieties. Higher irradiation doses enhanced the rate of rot compared with lower doses, p-8 was more resistant to rottage than Moon cultivar of pea.
