In today’s world,image processing techniques play a crucial role in the prognosis and diagnosis of various diseases due to the development of several precise and accurate methods for medical *** analysis of medical images is essential for doctors,as manual investigation often leads to inter-observer *** research aims to enhance healthcare by enabling the early detection of diabetic retinopathy through an efficient image processing *** proposed hybridized method combines Modified Inertia Weight Particle Swarm Optimization(MIWPSO)and Fuzzy C-Means clustering(FCM)*** FCM does not incorporate spatial neighborhood features,making it highly sensitive to noise,which significantly affects segmentation *** method incorporates a modified FCM that includes spatial functions in the fuzzy membership matrix to eliminate *** results demonstrate that the proposed FCM-MIWPSO method achieves highly precise and accurate medical image ***,segmented images are classified as benign or malignant using the Decision Tree-Based Temporal Association Rule(DT-TAR)*** analysis with existing state-of-the-art models indicates that the proposed FCM-MIWPSO segmentation technique achieves a remarkable accuracy of 98.42%on the dataset,highlighting its significant impact on improving diagnostic capabilities in medical imaging.

Efficacy of intragastric balloon on weight reduction:Saudi perspective

AIM To evaluate the safety and efficacy of intragastric balloon(IGB) in weight reduction in obese patients referred to a tertiary hospital in the Kingdom of Saudi *** Three hundred and one consecutive obese individuals, who underwent IGB placement during January 2009 to May 2015, were analyzed. The subjects aged 18 to 60 years and had a minimum body mass index(BMI) of 27 kg/m^2. The IGB was placed under conscious sedation and kept for 6 mo. Anthropometric measurements were recorded during and after 6 mo of IGB *** The body weight, excess body weight, and BMI were significantly reduced at the time of IGB removal and 6 mo later. Body weight loss > 10% was achieved in 224 subjects at removal of IGB. End of treatment success and long-term success were both significantly observed in women(70 vs 11)(71 vs 12.5) respectively. Excess BMI loss was significantly higher in subjects retaining the IGB for over 6 mo both at the removal [43.44 ± 19.46(n = 221) vs 55.60 ± 28.69(n = 80); t = 4.19, P = 0.0001] as well as at the end of 6 mo' follow-up [46.57 ± 24.89(n = 221) vs 63.52 ± 31.08(n = 80); t = 4.87, P = 0.0001]. Within 3 d of IGB placement, two subjects developed pancreatitis and one subject developed cardiac arrhythmia. Intestinal obstruction due to displacement of IGB occurred in two subjects. Allthese subjects recovered uneventfully after immediate removal of the IGB. CONCLUSION IGB was effective in our cohorts. The observed weight reduction was maintained for at least 6 mo post IGB removal. IGB placement was safe with a satisfactory tolerance rate.

Decision-making(DM)is a process in which several persons concur-rently engage,examine the problems,evaluate potential alternatives,and select an appropriate option to the *** for determining order preference by similarity to the ideal solution(TOPSIS)is an established DM *** objective of this report happens to broaden the approach of TOPSIS to solve the DM issues designed with Hesitancy fuzzy data,in which evaluation evidence given by the experts on possible solutions is presents as Hesitancy fuzzy decision matrices,each of which is defined by Hesitancy fuzzy ***:we represent analytical results,such as designing a satellite communication network and assessing reservoir operation methods,to demonstrate that our suggested thoughts may be used in ***:We studied a new testing method for the arti-ficial communication system to give proof of the future construction of satellite earth *** aim to identify the best one from the different testing *** are alsofinding the best operation schemes in the *** this article,we present the concepts of Laplacian energy(LE)in Hesitancy fuzzy graphs(HFGs),the weight function of LE of HFGs,and the TOPSIS method technique is used to produce the hesitancy fuzzy weighted-average(HFWA).Also,consider practical examples to illustrate the applicability of thefinest design of satellite communication systems and also evaluation of reservoir schemes.

The issue of limited agricultural land and production, rising food demand, and heavy reliance on imported foods in Kuwait have resulted in pressing concerns regarding food security and equity. Currently, Kuwait heavily relies on imports for over 90% of its food supply, which not only impacts the country’s sustainability but also affects other nations. Essential staples like rice, wheat, corn, milk powder, cooking oil, and chicken are particularly vulnerable to recent global price shocks. The consequences of climate change include rising temperatures, warming oceans, increasing incidences of droughts, losses in biodiversity, heightened health risks, and a decline in overall food production. These effects further strain an already stressed ecosystem as Kuwait lacks a comprehensive adaptive strategy that outlines both short-term and long-term action plans/goals to address these challenges. Specifically, within the agricultural, livestock, and fisheries sectors while simultaneously equipping it to handle emergencies or hazardous crises. This paper aims to outline the issues of limited agricultural land and production, rising food demand, and heavy reliance on imported foods, and how Kuwait must prioritize the development and improvement of sustainable agricultural practices and technologies. Furthermore, identifying key stakeholders and their current roles and constraints.

The Effect of the Challawa Industrial Estate on the Physicochemical Properties and Heavy Metal Levels of Portable Water Supply in Kano Metropolis, Nigeria

It has been observed that the portable water quality obtained from various locations in Kano Metropolis has shown greater variations in the recent past. Attempts have been made to ascertain the reasons for the variations even though the supplies were from only two treatments plants that obtain their raw water from the same source. A total of 92 water samples comprising of raw (from plants) and treated (from the plants and taps) were collected during rainy and dry seasons between April 2010 and May, 2012 and analyzed using standard analytical techniques. The results of analysis gave the physiochemical properties with range as follows: pH (0.06 ± 6.7 - 6.04 ± 0.02) conductivity (7.23 ±0.04 - 13.33 ± 0.22 S/Cm), turbidity (5.00 ± 0.01 - 449.22 ±1.32 NTU), suspended solids (107.33±3.45 - 712.11 ±5.33 mg/dm3), total dissolved solids (18.50 ± 0.85 -186 .78 ± 2.48 mg/dm3 ), alkalinity (12.53± 0.32 - 80.75 ± 1.23 mg/dm3) and hardness (29.50 ± 1.22 - 58.67 ± 2.34 mg/dm3). The pH values were generally acidic while the turbidity and total solid especially in some locations were higher than the permissible levels set by the World Health Organization for portable water. The concentration of heavy metals (mg/dm3) were found in the following ranges Fe (0.10 ± 0.04 - 0.30 ± 0.02), Cu (0.01 ± 0.001 - 0.03 ± 0.002), Zn (0.13 ± 0.06 - 0.39 ±0.02), Pb (0.03 ± 0.01 - 0.17 ± 0.02), Mn (0.03 ± 0.004 - 0.13 ± 0.003), Cr (0.10 ± 0.04 - 0.31 ± 0.03). The highest values of Fe, Cu and Mn were recorded along the older distribution channel of Challawa. The levels of Pb and Cr were generally high in both routes which are also observed in the raw water used at the two treatments plants. The results obtained from heavy metal concentrations fell within the maximum allowable limit set by the World Health Organization for portable water except in the cases of Pb and Cr. A discoid meniscus is a morphological abnormality wherein the meniscus loses its normal‘C’*** most patients are asymptomatic,patients might still present with symptoms such as locking,pain,swelling,or giving *** resonance imaging is usually needed for confirmation of *** on a constellation of factors,including clinical and radiological,different approaches are chosen for the management of discoid *** purpose of this review is to outline the treatment of discoid meniscus,starting from conservative approach,to the different surgical options for this *** PubMed and Google Scholar databases were used for this *** discussing the treatment of discoid meniscus from 2018 to 2023 were *** there were 369 studies retrieved,and after removal of studies using the exclusion criteria,26 studies were included in this *** such as stability,presence of tear,and morphology can help with surgical *** approaches have been used to treat discoid meniscus,where the choice is tailored for each patient ***,factors that may positively impact patient outcomes include male sex,body mass index<18.5,age at symptom onset<25 years,and duration of symptoms<24 *** conventional approach is partial meniscectomy with or without repair;however,recently,there has been an increased emphasis on discoid-preserving techniques such as meniscoplasty,meniscopexy,and meniscal allograft transplantation.

Design and Analysis of Some Third Order Explicit Almost Runge-Kutta Methods

In this paper, we propose two new explicit Almost Runge-Kutta (ARK) methods, ARK3 (a three stage third order method, i.e., s = p = 3) and ARK34 (a four-stage third-order method, i.e., s = 4, p = 3), for the numerical solution of initial value problems (IVPs). The methods are derived through the application of order and stability conditions normally associated with Runge-Kutta methods;the derived methods are further tested for consistency and stability, a necessary requirement for convergence of any numerical scheme;they are shown to satisfy the criteria for both consistency and stability;hence their convergence is guaranteed. Numerical experiments carried out further justified the efficiency of the methods.

目的:获得有效的高精度切屑形貌仿真方法。创新点:通过比较不同切削参数下采用光滑粒子流体动力学模型和有限元模型仿真获得的切屑形貌,证明光滑粒子流体动力学模型可以很好地实现对节状切屑的仿真,而不需要额外的几何或基于网格的切屑分离准则。方法:基于有限元和光滑粒子流体动力学的切削形貌仿真方法。结论:通过比较不同切削参数下采用光滑粒子流体动力学模型和有限元模型仿真获得的切屑形貌,证明了基于裂纹形成与扩展理论,采用合理疲劳参数的标准Johnson-Cook模型完全可以实现对节状切屑形成过程的仿真,也即无需采用修正的Johnson-Cook模型。同时证明了有限元模型和光滑粒子流体动力学方法均可满足不同切削速度和进给量条件下的切削力和切屑形貌仿真。

BACKGROUND Incidence and severity variations of inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)have been reported from Western populations between continents and regions of the same ***,no data were available from other *** To investigate the regional differences in the IBD profiles of pediatric patients from the Kingdom of Saudi *** Data from a national multicenter IBD study were *** incidence,time trend,and clinical presentation of Crohn’s disease(CD)and ulcerative colitis(UC)in the Central region(CR),Western region(WR),and Eastern region(ER)were analyzed and *** analysis included Poisson regression analysis for incidence variation and Chi-square test for demographic and clinical parameters.A P<0.05 was considered *** The prevalence of positive family history was lower in children with CD from the ER than the CR or the *** rate was higher in children with CD and UC from the CR and the ER,*** incidences and time trends of CD and UC were not significantly different between *** the ER,a significantly higher percentage of children with CD presented with abdominal pain(P<0.001),blood in stools(P=0.048),stricturing or penetrating disease(P=0.029),higher erythrocyte sedimentation rate(P<0.001),higher C-reactive protein(P<0.001),higher anemia(P=0.017),and lower albumin level(P=0.014).For children with UC from the ER,a significantly higher percentage presented with anemia(P=0.006)and a lower percentage with pancolitis(P<0.001).CONCLUSION The most important finding is the identification of significantly more severe presentation of CD in the ER of the Kingdom of Saudi *** studies are needed to explain such variations.
