Seven Years Follow-Up of Biodegradable Polymer Coated Paclitaxel-Eluting Infinnium Coronary Stent in Saudi Arabia

Aim: In the present study, we analyzed 7-year clinical outcomes of patients included in the BIO degradable Polymer coated drug-eluting stent REgistry of Sahajanand Medical Technologies Pvt. Ltd. stents in Saudi Arabia (BIOPRESS)-Infinnium? registry. Methods: This was multicentre, observational, non-randomized, post-marketing surveillance registry, which included 276 consecutive patients treated with Infinnium? paclitaxel-eluting stent between July-2004 and June-2006. All patients underwent single-vessel or multiple-vessel percutaneous coronary intervention with high atherosclerotic risk factors and the patients were followed up to 7 years. Baseline and post-procedure angiographic follow-up were pre-specified in 231 patients. Results: The registry included 276 consecutive patients (81.5% male) with a mean age of 56.0 ± 11.1 years. Among 276 patients, diabetes and hypertension were present in 142 (51.4%) and 172 (62.3%) of patients respectively. Of all patients studied, 186 (67.4%) had single-vessel disease, 75 (27.2%) had double-vessel disease, and 15 (5.4%) had triple-vessel disease. Total 476 Infinnium? stents were implanted with an average stent length of 21.8 ± 7.5 mm. The incidence of major adverse cardiac events (MACE) up to 1 year was 26 (9.4%). Clinical follow-up was completed in 235 patients at seven-year follow-up. The data of seven-year clinical outcomes were as follow: cumulative MACE rate of 18.1% with 7.6% of total mortality and 3.6% of restenosis. Conclusion: These 7-year results of BIOPRESS-Infinnium? registry clearly provide evidence for safety and long-term effectiveness of the Infinnium? paclitaxel-eluting stent with the biodegradable polymer in real-life patients.

A Hybrid Deep Learning-Based Unsupervised Anomaly Detection in High Dimensional Data

Anomaly detection in high dimensional data is a critical research issue with serious implication in the real-world *** issues in this field still unsolved,so several modern anomaly detection methods struggle to maintain adequate accuracy due to the highly descriptive nature of big *** a phenomenon is referred to as the“curse of dimensionality”that affects traditional techniques in terms of both accuracy and ***,this research proposed a hybrid model based on Deep Autoencoder Neural Network(DANN)with five layers to reduce the difference between the input and *** proposed model was applied to a real-world gas turbine(GT)dataset that contains 87620 columns and 56 *** the experiment,two issues have been investigated and solved to enhance the *** first is the dataset class imbalance,which solved using SMOTE *** second issue is the poor performance,which can be solved using one of the optimization *** optimization algorithms have been investigated and tested,including stochastic gradient descent(SGD),RMSprop,Adam and ***,Adamax optimization algorithm showed the best results when employed to train *** experimental results show that our proposed model can detect the anomalies by efficiently reducing the high dimensionality of dataset with accuracy of 99.40%,F1-score of 0.9649,Area Under the Curve(AUC)rate of 0.9649,and a minimal loss function during the hybrid model training.

Analysis of the Trend of Peri-Urban Development in Minna, Niger State

Current situation of development in Minna has raised many spatial challenges especially in the peri-urban areas. This study analyzed the spatial development of Minna between 1972 and 2015, with a view to determining the trend at which the peri-urban area changes over time. Minna topographical map of 1972, township map of 1979 and the satellite imageries covering 1986, 1996, 2006 and 2015 were employed in this study. Map processing and image classification techniques were used in extracting the information needed. The study revealed that there was over 2000% increase in the built-up area of Minna within the period understudied. This implies that the peri-urban areas of Minna by 2015 had grown about thirty-two times its size in 1972;thirteen its size in 1979;thrice its size in 1986 and 1996, respectively;and twice of its size in 2006, but, with an increased rate of uncoordinated and unplanned development. It concluded that the planning and development of Minna peri-urban areas should not be left to chance or the interplay of economic variables, but should be guided by strategies that will ensure orderly growth and development. It therefore recommended that the government through the statutory agencies should initiate a strategic development plan proposal known as Peri-urban Area Strategic Development Plans (PuASDP), which is to guide and control every spatial development activities in the peri-urban areas.

Shelf-Life Extension of Tomato （Lycopersicum esculentum） and Pepper （Capsicum annuum） Using Aqueous Extracts of Some Ethnomedicinal Plants

This research aimed at the use of natural products to extend the shelf life of perishable vegetables. Studies were conducted on the preservative effects of four plant extracts--Xylopia aethiopica, Piper nigrum, Tetrapleura tetraptera and Carica papaya seeds on tomato and pepper. Tomato and pepper were dipped into four different concentrations of aqueous extracts of the four plants as well as water serving as control. The result of the study showed that aqueous extract of all plants extended the shelf life of tomato and pepper with increasing concentration of the extracts, except for Carica papaya seeds which produced significant elongation of 12.0 ±0.6 d and 14.0 ± 0.7 d on tomato and pepper, respectively, at the least concentration of 0.25 mg/mL. The results showed that these ethnomedicinal plants can serve as good and potent sources of natural preservatives which can be used to substitute existing synthetics used in the food industry.

Assessment of ESAK and ED for Adult’s Patients Examined by Computed Radiography

This study designed to evaluate the entrance surface air kerma (ESAK) to the patient during X-ray examination to the skull antero-posterior (AP), skull Lateral (LAT), chest postero-anterior (PA), Lumber spine AP/LAT and Pelvis AP. Totally, 408 patients were included in this study using computed radiography (CR) in different three hospitals in Khartoum;five X-ray machines were covered. The entrance surface air kerma (ESAK) was calculated for each patient from the exposure parameters using different peak tube voltages. Patient’s data such as (age and weight) and exposure parameters (kVp) and (mAs) were recorded. The result obtained showed that, the entrance surface air kerma ranged from 0.88 to 3.30 mGy for Skull (AP), 0.588 to 1.87 mGy for skull (LAT), 0.03 to 2 mGy for chest PA, 1.50 to 3.40 mGy Lumbar spine AP, 2.60 to 5.15 mGy for Lumbar spine (LAT), and 1.05 to 4.40 mGy for Pelvis. This study provides additional data that can help the regulatory authority to establish reference dose level for diagnostic radiology in Sudan. This study recommends that the CR operator must be used to optimize the patient dose by using the best strategies available for reducing radiation dose. Computed radiography must be used with high level training for medical staff to reduce the dose;each radiology department should implement a patient dose measurement quality assurance programme. Doses to the patients should be regularly monitored and the proposed national DRLs should be taken as guidance for optimization.

＜正＞ Crystallization screening strategies are now routinely employing robotic dispensing systems to increase throughput. With the increasing number of screening combinations needed to identify optimal crystallization conditions, the requirement for protein usage can be quite large. Expression and purification of sufficient amounts of protein are both costly and time consuming. To efficiently screen large numbers of conditions, the quantity of protein required for each test must be reduced. Utilizing the Honeybee systems, this poster shows that the amount of protein used in standard protocols can be reduced without sacrificing accuracy and precision.

Relationship between Radiological Lung Findings and Laboratory Ferritin and D-Dimer Levels in Patients with COVID-19 Infection

Introduction: Pulmonary symptoms of COVID-19 infection range from asymptomatic infection to severe pneumonia. Pathogenesis and severity of symptoms were found to be related to the body’s immune response. Objectives: Ferritin and D-Dimer in COVID-19 confirmed cases can predict lung injury and possible poor patient prognosis. Materials and Methods: Patients who had been admitted to Dr. Sulaiman Alhabib-Arryan Hospital with positive COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests between March 2020 and December 2021 were studied for blood ferritin and D-Dimer levels in relation to pulmonary radiological findings. Results: A total of 494 cases are included in this study. Male patients represent 74.1% of the cases, and the mean age is 51.68 ± 13.37 years. Increased age, ferritin, D-Dimer levels, and respiratory symptoms are factors that showed a statistically significant association with positive computed tomography (CT) findings. Receiver operator characteristic curve (ROC) showed that ferritin has a higher capability than D-Dimer to detect CT findings and that both are equal in predicting possible patient mortality. Suggested cutoff values for Ferritin > 336 ng/mL, with 78.21% sensitivity and 86.42% specificity and for D-Dimer > 0.55 mg/L FEU, with sensitivity of 74.82% and specificity of 75.31%. For mortality, the suggested cutoff point for ferritin is >864.6 ng/mL, which gives a sensitivity of 80.26 and a specificity of 64.83%. The suggested cutoff point for D-Dimer is >1.46 mg/L FEU, which gives a sensitivity of 65.79% and a specificity of 78.23%. Conclusion: Laboratory markers such as Ferritin and D-Dimer can be an accurate predictor of lung injury in COVID-19 patients and their increased values can predict the poor patient prognosis and possible mortality if aggressive hospital care is not provided.
