This study investigates the effect of aluminium oxide nanoparticlesaddition to biodiesel blends made from dairy milk scum on performance and combustion characteristics of the diesel *** dispersion of al2O3nanoparticles in B20 blends at different concentrations was done with the help of *** number of blends were prepared for the *** Machine learning algorithms(Random Forest（RF）and CatBoost) was used for the *** results show that in comparison to biodiesel blends without nanoparticles,the kinematic viscosity and density is higher for fuel blends with *** these Fuel blends have higher calorific *** blends exhibited reduced Brake Specific Fuel Consumption（BSFC） of2.85% than the blends without nano particles(Dairy Scum Methyl Ester Biodiesel 20%+Neat Diesel 80%（in volume）,DSMEB20),57.14% less CO,40.8% less hydrocarbon,and increased NOxemissions compared to conventional diesel,contributing to the development of environmentally friendly and renewable biofuel blends with *** B20NP30 is the opti.al blend for performance and emission *** study concludes with findings on enhanced Brake Thermal Efficiency（BTE） of 26.29% in 3×10-5（in volume） al2O3nanoparticle-blended DSME B20 and other DSME B20 fuel blends,emphasizing the importance of opti.al nanoparticle *** correlation matrix shows how engine load,efficiency measures（BTE,BSFC）,and emissions（CO,CO2,NOx,Smoke） are connected in complex *** results help us understand the complicated dynamics of engine performance and emission characteristics ***'s diagram for BTE and BSFC shows that CatBoost-based BTE models perform superior to RF-based models during the training as well as testing *** results were obtained for CO and CO2emission results.

Combined corneal CXL and photorefractive keratectomy for treatment of keratoconus: a review

Keratoconus and iatrogenic keratectasia are the corneal ectatic disorders occurring due to biomechani.al weakening of the cornea resulting in distorted images,myopia, and irregular astigmatism. Corneal collagen cross-linking(CXL) is performed to arrest keratoconus successfully. The main aim of this review is to discuss the safety and efficacy of the adjuvant therapies, such as the combination of CXL and photorefractive keratectomy(PRK) for the treatment of corneal ectatic disorders. A comprehensive literature search was performed using PubM ed, MEDLiNE, and Scopus using keywords ‘collagen’‘keratoconus’,‘keratectasia’,‘collagen cross-linking’,and ‘photorefractive keratectomy’. Search results were restricted to clini.al studies published in English. Corneal CXL effectively arrests the progression of keratoconus by enhancing corneal rigidity. However, functional vision is not improved by cross-linking. Combining CXL to refractive surgeries such as topography-guided PRK or transepithelial PRK is found to be a safe and effective method in providing corneal stability as well as significantly improving functional visual acuity with few minor complications. This combined technique also prevents regression of keratoconus and reduce the risk of keratectasia. CXL combined with PRK is a promising therapeutic approach in ophthalmology that can be successfully used to treat progressive keratoconus and other corneal ectatic disorders and to enhance visual acuity.

Factors affecting single-step transepithelial photorefractive keratectomy outcome in the treatment of mild,moderate,and high myopia:a cohort study

AiM:To investigate the effect of preoperative factors on visual acuity,higher-order aberrations(HOAs),and index of success for spheri.al change(***)after transepithelial photorefractive keratectomy(t-PRK)for treating different grades of ***:This was a retrospective one-armed cohort study where patients with high,moderate,or mild myopia treated with single-step t-PRK using Amaris 500 Hz excimer laser were evaluated for visual acuity,refractive status,corneal topography,HOAs,***,and mean efficiency and safety index before and 6 mo after ***:A total of 154 eyes of 77 patients with mild(n=59),moderate(n=83),and high(n=12)myopia were *** efficiency and safety indices for vision recovery by single-step t-PRK were 98%and 100%,*** achieved spheri.al equi.alent(SE)was within 1 diopter(D)in 151(98%)*** median of the *** was 1.18[interquartile range(iQR)1.0,1.4].The change in *** was significantly correlated with age(P=0.007),6.5 mm ablation zone(Mann-Whitney U test,Pild and moderate grade of myopia(Kruskal–Wallis test,Pil aberration,spheri.al aberration,and aberration coefficient types of HOA increased significantly(Wilcoxon test,Pignificant correlation between spheri.al aberration and aberration coefficient HOAs by myopia grades(PiON:Single-step t-PRK has promising short-term outcomes for refractive corrections and vision improvement to treat all three grades of myopia.

Could ketamine be the answer to treating treatment-resistant major depressive disorder?

Major depressive disorder(MDD)is a common,serious,debilitating condition affecting 350 million people worldwide,which remains to be unsatisfactorily treated with 53%of patients still complaining of symptoms after completing their courses with the correct ***,which was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 2019,is a potential treatment option for those recalcitrant *** mechanism of ketamine is not fully understood,but as type it is classified as an N-methyl-D-aspartate(NMDA)glutamate receptor antagonist,and can be given intravenously,intranasally and *** is used to treat treatment-resistant depression,depression associated with suici.al ideation,mood and anxiety disorders and depressions associated with either type of bipolar *** ketamine is considered relatively safe,several side effects have been reported with the major ones being psychiatric in the form of worsening mood,anxiety and agitation;psychotomimetic in the form of dissociation,perceptual disturbance and abnormal sensations;cardiovascular in the form of increased blood pressure and increased heart rate;and neurologi.al in the form of headache and *** is still not approved worldwide for usage in patients with treatment-resistant MDD,but if it is approved sometime in the future with relatively fewer side effects,it is expected to significantly save millions of dollars spent yearly on patients with treatment-resistant depression and that will lift this major burden off the shoulders of healthcare *** study was designed to measure the effects of ketamine,an NMDA receptor antagonist,on patients with treatment-resistant MDD and to analyse the concept that makes it different and relatively safer than other major antidepressants like selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors,monoamine oxidase inhibitors and TCAs(tricyclic antidepressants).

An Efficient Path Planning Strategy in Mobile Sink Wireless Sensor Networks

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are considered the backbone ofthe internet of Things (ioT), which enables sensor nodes (SNs) to achieveapplications similarly to human intelligence. However, integrating a WSNwith the ioT is challenging and causes issues that require careful *** the lifetime of a network through appropriately utilising energyconsumption is among the essential challenges due to the limited resourcesof SNs. Thus, recent research has examined mobile sinks (MSs), which havebeen introduced to improve the overall efficiency of WSNs. MSs bear theburden of data collection instead of consuming energy at the routeing bySNs. in a network, some areas generate more data through SNs that containfrequent, urgent messages. These messages carry sensitive data that must bedelivered immediately to user applications. Collecting such messages via MSs,especially on a large scale, increases delays, which are not tolerable in some realapplications. This issue has not been studied much. Thus, the present studyutilises the advantages of the priority parameter to concentrate on these areasand proposes a new model named ‘energy efficient path planning of MS-basedarea priority’ (EEPP-BAP). This method involves non-urgent and urgentmessages. it is comprised of four procedures. initially, after SNs are distributedrandomly in a wide monitoring field, the monitoring field is partitionedinto equal zones according to priority, either differently or equally. Next isclustering based on the cluster head (CH) selected to perform the particleswarm optimisation algorithm (PSO). Then, the MS moves first to the zoneswith higher priority and less distance to perform the brain storm optimisationalgorithm. Fi.ally, for urgent messages from the other zones at which theMS continues, the proposed approach establishes a routeing technique usingmulti-hop communication based on the MS position and using PSO. The proposed solution is aimed at delivering urgent messages to MSs free of

Graft survi.al and visual outcome after simultaneous penetrating keratoplasty and cataract extraction

AiM: To evaluate the indications, complications, and visual and graft survi.al outcomes in eyes that had undergone simultaneous cataract extraction and penetrating keratoplasty (PKP). ·METHODS: We described a retrospective study of 101 patients who had undergone simultaneous cataract extraction and PKP at King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospi.al between January 1, 2001, and December 31, 2002. all patients were followed up postoperatively with maximum follow-up 68 months. ·RESULTS: The mean age of patients was 61 years. The mean overall follow -up was 27 months. The most common indications for surgery were corneal scarring (45.5% ), previous failed graft (15.8% ), corneal ulcer (12.9% ), Fuchs endothelial dystrophy (8.9% ), stromal dystrophy (2.9% ), and other conditions (14.5% ). Overall, 69 grafts (68.3% ) remained clear at fi.al follow -up. Previous glaucoma or postoperative glaucoma had no statisti.ally significant effects on graft outcome (P >0.05). The graft rejection rate (17.8% ) was a significant risk factor for failure (P =0.00). Age, gender, indications for surgery, corneal graft diameter, and intraoperative vitreous loss had no statisti.ally significant effects on the PKP outcome (P >0.05). Postoperative visual acuity was significantly associated with preoperative visual acuity (P iON: The present study provides evidence that performing a combined procedure results in more rapid visual rehabilitation and good graft clarity.

Using Remote Sensing Data to Delineate the Lineaments for Hydrothermal Mineral Prediction in Heqing Area, Northwest Yunnan Province, China

Lineament extraction and analysis is one of the routine work in mapping medium and large areas using remote sensing data, most of which are satellite images. Landsat Enhanced Thematic Mapper （ETM） of 945×1 232 pixels subscene acquired on 21 March 2000 covering the northwestern part of Yunnan Province has been digi.ally processed using ER Mapper software. This article aims to produce lineament density map that predicts favorable zones for hydrothermal mineral occurrences and quantify spatial associations between the known hydrothermal mineral deposits. in the process of lineament extraction a number of image processing techniques were applied. The extracted lineaments were imported into MapGiS software and a suitable grid of 100 m×100 m was chosen. The Kriging method was used to create the lineament density map of the area. The results show that remote sensing data could be useful to extract the lineaments in the area. These lineaments are closely correlated with the faults obtained through other geologi.al investigation methods. On comparing with field data the lineament-density map identifies two important high prospective zones, where large-scale deposits are already existing. in addition the map highlights unrecognized target areas that require follow up investigation.

Soil substrate as a cascade of capillary barriers for conserving water in a desert environment:lessons learned from arid nature

interaction between soil pedogenesis, subsurface water dynamics, climate, vegetation and human ingenuity in a desert environment has been found to result in a unique ecohydrologi.al system with an essentially three dimensional sedimentation structure in the bed of a recharge dam in Oman. A 3-D array of silt blocks sand- wiched by dry sand-filled horizontal and verti.al fractures was studied in pot experiments as a model of a natural prototype. Pots are filled with a homogenous sand-silt mixture （control） or artificially structured （smart design, SD） soil substrates. Rhodes grass and ivy （ipomea, Convolvulaceae） were grown in the pots during the hottest season in Oman. Soil moisture content （SMC） was measured at different depths over a period of 20 days without irrigation. SD preserved the SMC of the root zone for both ivy and grass （SMC of around 25%-30% compared to 〈10% for control, 3 days after the last irrigation）. Even after 20 days, SMC was around 18% in the SD and 7% in the control. This, similar to the case of a natural prototype, is attributed to the higher upward capillary movement of water in control pots and intensive evaporation. The capillary barrier of sand sheaths causes discontinuity in moisture mi- gration from the micro-pores in the silt blocks to sand pores. The blocks serve as capillarity-locked water buffers, which are depleted at a slow rate by transpiration rather than evaporation from the soil surface. This creates a unique ecosystem with a dramatic difference in vegetation between SD-pots and control pots. Consequently, the Noy-Meir edaphic factor, conceptualizing the ecologi.al impact of 1-D verti.al heterogeneity of desert soils, should be generalized to incorporate 3-D soil heterogeneity patterns. This agro-engineering control of the soil substrate and soil moisture distribution and dynamics （SMDaD） can be widely used by desert farmers as a cheap technique, with significant savings of irrigation water.

We had the pleasure to read the paper published online by Krouse et *** August 2023 in the Lancet Gastroenterology and Hepatology(1).The study labeled as S1316 was a prospective pragmatic comparative effectiveness trial evaluating the surgi.al versus non-surgi.al management for patients with malignant small intesti.al bowel obstruction(MiO)and having an intra-abdomi.al or retroperitoneal primary cancer and were aged 18 years or older with a Zubrod performance status 0-2 within 1 week before admission;had a surgi.al indication;and treatment *** patients were divided in two *** who accepted the randomization were randomly assigned to surgi.al and non-surgi.al treatment *** who declined consent for random assignment were offered a prospective observational patient choice pathway where the patients with their caring team decide upon the treatment option.
