Phytochemical screening and free radical scavenging activity of Citrullus colocynthis seeds extracts

Objective:To study the phytochemical screening of different extracts from Citrullus colocynthis(***)seeds extracts and to assess their antioxidant activity on the DPPH free radical ***:Phytochemical screening,total content of polyphenols and flavonoids of *** seeds extracts,including a crude aqueous extract(E1),a defatted aqueous extract(E2),a hydromethanolic extract(HM),an ethyl acetate extract(EA)and a n-butanol extract(n-B)was carried out according to the standard methods and to assess their corresponding effect on the antioxidant activity of this ***:None of these extracts contained detectable amount of alkaloid,quinone,antraquinone,or reducing *** tannins and flavonoids were abundant in E1,MM and EA,whilst terpenoids were abundantly present in E1 and n-B but only weekly in *** were found in E2,EA and ***,expressed as gallic acid equivalent,amounted,per 100 g plant matter,to 329,1002 and 150 mg in EA,HM an E1 ***,expressed as catechin equivalent,*** 100 g plant matter to 620,241 and 94 mg in EA,HM and E1 *** values were found in n-B and E1,with lower values in ***,myricetin and gallic acid were found in the EA and HM extracts by thin layer chromatography,The antioxidative effect of these extracts yielded,when tested at a concentration of 2000μg/mL in a 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl assay,a reducing percentage of 88.8%with EA,74.5%with HM and 66.2%with E1,and corresponding IC_(50)of 350,580and 500μg/mL as compared to 1.1μg/mL for ascorbic ***:These qualitative and quantitative analytical data document the presence in *** extracts of such chemical compounds as flavonoids responsible for the antioxidant activity,as well as other biological activities of this plant.

Attention was recently drawn to the production of D-glucose by salivary glands and its concentration in the saliva of both normal and diabetic subjects. Likewise, the identity and expression of selected transporters involved in the handling of the hexose by salivary glands were recently investigated in both normal and diabetic rats. In consideration of this information, the present report aims at providing an integrated review on the physiopathology of parotid cell energetics.

Automated evaluation of parapapillary choroidal microvasculature in crowded optic discs:a controlled,optical coherence tomography angiography study

AIM:To compare superficial and deep vascular properties of optic discs between crowded discs and controls using optical coherence tomography angiography(OCT-A).METHODS:Thirty patients with crowded discs,and 47 control subjects were enrolled in the *** eye of each individual was included and OCT-A scans of optic discs were obtained in a 4.5×4.5 mm^(2) rectangular *** peripapillary capillary(RPC)density,peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer(pRNFL)thickness,cup volume,rim area,disc area,cup-to-disc(c/d)area ratio,and vertical c/d ratio were obtained automatically using device *** parapapillary choroidal microvasculature(PPCMv)density was calculated using MATLAB *** the vertical c/d ratio of the optic disc was absent or small cup,it was considered as a crowded ***:The mean signal strength index of OCT-A images was similar between the crowded discs and control eyes(P=0.740).There was no difference in pRNFL between the two groups(P=0.102).There were no differences in RPC density in whole image(P=0.826)and peripapillary region(P=0.923),but inside disc RPC density was higher in crowded optic discs(P=0.003).The PPCMv density in the inner-hemisuperior region was also lower in crowded discs(P=0.026).The pRNFL thickness was positively correlated with peripapillary RPC density(r=0.498,P<0.001).The inside disc RPC density was negatively correlated with c/d area ratio(r=-0.341,P=0.002).CONCLUSION:The higher inside disc RPC density and lower inner-hemisuperior PPCMv density are found in eyes with crowded optic discs.

Self duality solution with a Higgs field

The self-duality concept for the Higgs field is handled in the presence of contact geometry in 5 dimensions. A non-trivial SO（3） Higgs field lives only on the fifth dimension of the contact manifold because of the contact structure, while the SD Yang-Mills field lives in the 4-dimensional hyperplane of the contact manifold. The Higgs and SD Yang-Mills fields do not interact with one another.

At the zero mass limit the massive self-dual theory of the SO（3） gauge group on 4 dimensions cannot be reduced to that of massless *** such a case the self-dual connection turns to the flat connection and one cannot obtain a massless theory in such an approach.

Prognostic significance of primary tumor localization in stage Ⅱ and Ⅲ colon cancer

AIM To investigate the effects of tumor localization on disease free survival(DFS) and overall survival(OS) in patients with stage Ⅱ-Ⅲ colon *** This retrospective study included 942 patients with stage Ⅱ and Ⅲ colon cancer, which were followed up in our clinics between 1995 and 2017. The tumors from the caecum to splenic flexure were defined as right colon cancer(RCC) and those from splenic flexure to the sigmoid colon as left colon cancer(LCC).RESULTS The median age of the patients was 58 years(range: 19-94 years). Male patients constituted 54.2%. The rates of RCC and LCC were 48.4%(n = 456) and 51.6%(n = 486), respectively. During the median follow-up of 90 mo(range: 6-252 mo), 14.6% of patients developed recurrence and 9.1% of patients died. In patients with stage Ⅱ and Ⅲ disease with or without adjuvant therapy, DFS was similar in terms of primary tumor localization(stage Ⅱ; P = 0.547 and P = 0.481, respectively; stage Ⅲ; P = 0.976 and P = 0.978, respectively). In patients with stage Ⅱ and Ⅲ disease with or without adjuvant therapy, OS was not statistically significant with respect to primary tumor localization(stage Ⅱ; P = 0.381 and P = 0.947, respectively; stage Ⅲ; P = 0.378 and P = 0.904, respectively). The difference between median OS of recurrent RCC(26 ± 6.2 mo) and LCC(34 ± 4.9 mo) cases was eight months(P = 0.092).CONCLUSION Our study showed no association of tumor localization with either DFS or OS in patients with stage Ⅱ or Ⅲ colon cancer managed with or without adjuvant therapy. However, post-recurrence OS appeared to be worse in RCC patients.

Objective: To investigate the association between IL-1 Ra variable number of tandem repeat(rs2234663), IL-6-597 GA(rs1800797), IL-6-572 GC(rs1800796) and the risk of CrimeanCongo hemorrhagic fever(CCHF) in the Turkish patients. Methods: This study included 50 patients infected with CCHF and 50 healthy controls. These variants were genotyped using polymerase chain reaction and/or restriction fragment length polymorphism method. Results: The distribution of the IL-6-572 GC genotypes and alleles varied significantly between the patients and the controls. The subjects carrying IL-6-572 GC GG genotype and G allele had increased risk of developing CCHF compared to the control group(P=0.006, P=0.014, respectively). IL-6-572 GC GC genotype was higher in the controls than the patients(P=0.006). For the triple genotype combinations, the 1/2-GC-GG genotype combination was detected more frequently in the control group than CCHF patients(P=0.016). IL-6(-572/-597) GG-GG genotype was significantly higher in the patient group(P=0.015), while the GC-GG genotype was significantly lower in the patient group(P=0.005). Additionally, the G-G haplotype was significantly higher in the patient group(P=0.042), whereas C-G was found to be significantly lower in the patients than the control group(P=0.037). Conclusions: The results of this study suggest the IL-6-572 GC variant might be genetic markers of sensitivity to CCHF in the Turkish population and may facilitate greater protection against the disease.

Evaluation of environmental parameters in logistic regression models for landslide susceptibility mapping

The aim of this study was to determine how well the landslide susceptibility parameters,obtained by data-dependent statistical models,matched with the parameters used in the *** order to achieve this goal,20 different environmental parameters were mapped in a well-studied landslide-prone area,the Asarsuyu catchment in northwest Turkey.A total of 4400 seed cells were generated from 47 different landslides and merged with different attributes of 20 different environmental causative variables into a *** order to run a series of logistic regression models,different random landslide-free sample sets were produced and combined with seed *** susceptibility maps were created with an average success rate of nearly 80%.The coherence among the models showed spatial correlations greater than 90%.Models converged in the parameter selection peculiarly,in that the same nine of 20 were chosen by different logistic regression *** these nine parameters,lithology,geological structure(distance/density),landcover-landuse,and slope angle were common parameters selected by both the regression models and *** assessment of the logistic models was assessed by absolute *** models were field checked with the landslides resulting from the 12 November 1999,Kaynas¸li Earthquake(Ms7.2).

Labelling of a pyrazole derivative with ^(131)I and investigation of its radiopharmaceutical potential

We investigated the radiolabeling efficiency, in vitro stability, and biodistribution of radioactive iodine (131I)-labeled 4-benzoyl-1-(4-carboxyphenyl)-5-phenyl-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid (P3CA). A quality-control study of the labeled substance ( 131I-P3CA) was conducted using electrophoresis and radio thin-layer chromatography (RTLC). Biodistribution studies were undertaken in 9 female albino Wistar rats. Rats were killed at various times (15, 60 and 180 min), their organs removed, and percentage of injected dose per gram (ID%/g) values calculated. The labeling yield of P3CA was 97.08%±0.80%. The maximum uptake of 131I-P3CA was seen in the lungs, stomach and spleen at 15 min. The uptake of labeled compound decreased over time in the lungs, whereas that in the stomach decreased. These data suggest that 131I-P3CA had high binding efficiency, high uptake in the lung, and sufficient stability to be used in diagnostic studies.
