A line shaped electron beam recrystallised polycrystalline silicon film on the low cost substrate was investigated for the use of the solar cell absorber. The applied EB energy density strongly influences the surface morphology of the film system. Lower EB energy density results in droplet morphology and the rougher siO2 capping layer due to the low fluidity. With the energy increasing, the capping layer becomes smooth and continuous and less and small pinholes form in the silicon film. Tungstendisilicide (Wsi2) is formed at the interface tungsten/silicon but also at the grain boundaries of the silicon. Because of the fast melting and cooling of the silicon film, the eutectic of silicon and tungstendisilicide mainly forms at the grain boundary of the primary silicon dendrites. The sEm-EDX analysis shows that there are no chlorine and hydrogen in the area surrounding a pinhole after recrystallization because of outgassing during the solidification.

Unsignalized intersections are identified as the critical locations due to higher number of road crashes at these *** primary causes of crashes at unsignalized intersections are limited sight distance,incorrect assessment of gaps by drivers on the minor road,and higher speeds of vehicles on the major *** an effort to improve safety and reduce the severity of crashes at unsignalized intersections,an intelligent transportation system(ITs)called the intersection conflict warning system(ICWs)has been *** ICWs consists of an activated warning sign and sensors that detect vehicles approaching the *** paper aims to summarize the performance evaluation of ICWs that has been published in the *** review commences with an overview of the purpose of designing and installing ICWs at unsignalized *** then discusses driving performance measures considered to evaluate the effectiveness of ICWs in three different environments,i.e.,real world,driving simulator,and simulations,and their results are *** paper also discusses the type of sensors used to detect vehicles approaching the intersection and their accuracy in vehicle *** results reveal that ICWs had substantially improved driver *** the presence of ICWs,drivers resulted in shorter reaction time,lower approach speed,increased critical gap acceptance,and reduction in *** improvement in the performance of ICWs can be achieved by educating drivers about the sign,maintaining system reliability,and further examining the effect of various traffic factors,driver factors,and environmental factors on *** findings of this study can help researchers and engineers to design a better ICWs that can greatly enhance driving performance and safety at unsignalized intersections.

AIm: To compare irritable bowel syndrome (IBs) pa- tients with apparently healthy persons and to evaluate body awareness therapy, which is a physiotherapeutic remedy focusing on normalising tensions in the body, for the treatment of IBs with the hypothesis that altered body tension is associated with the syndrome. mETHODs: Twenty-one IBs patients received body awareness therapy two hours weekly for 24 wk. At base- line as well as after 12 and 24 wk, they underwent ex- aminations including resource oriented body examination in combination with body awareness scale evaluation and f illed in gastrointestinal and psychological symptom questionnaires. saliva cortisol was analysed. A group of 21 apparently healthy persons underwent the same ex- aminations once. REsULTs: Compared to the apparently healthy group, IBs patients scored higher at baseline for gastrointestinal and psychological symptoms. They showed more often alterations in normal body tension patterns, as well as deviating cortisol slopes in saliva. After 24 wk of body awareness therapy, their gastrointestinal and psychologi- cal symptoms were reduced overall. somatic symptoms decreased in parallel with depressive symptoms. Whole body pain score decreased, coping ability as well as bio- chemical stress markers improved. CONCLUsION: IBs patients scored higher for gastroin- testinal and psychological symptoms, and presented with altered biochemical stress markers. Their body tension deviated compared to healthy controls. Furthermore,body awareness therapy gave relief of both somatic com- plaints, psychological symptoms and normalised body tension. These findings indicate that distorted tension constitutes an important part of the symptoms in IBs.

Decreased mechanical loading after orthopaedic surgery predisposes patients to develop muscle *** purpose of this review was to assess whether the evidence supports oral protein supplementation can help decrease postoperative muscle atrophy and/or improve patient outcomes following orthopaedic surgery.A systematic review was conducted according to the Preferred Reporting Items for systematic Reviews and metaAnalysis(PRIsmA).Pubmed(mEDLINE),Embase,scopus,and Web of science were searched for randomized controlled trials that assessed protein or amino acid supplementation in patients undergoing orthopaedic *** investigators independently conducted the search using relevant Boolean *** outcomes included functional or physiologic measures of muscle atrophy or *** studies including 611 patients(224 males,387 females)were *** studies evaluated protein supplementation after ACL reconstruction(ACLR),3 after total hip arthroplasty(THA),5 after total knee arthroplasty(TKA),and 3 after surgical treatment of hip *** supplementation showed beneficial effects across all types of *** primary benefit was a decrease in muscle atrophy compared to placebo as measured by muscle cross sectional *** authors also demonstrated improved functional measures and quicker achievement of rehabilitation *** supplementation has beneficial effects on mitigating muscle atrophy in the postoperative period following ACLR,THA,TKA,and surgical treatment of hip *** effects often correlate with improved functional measures and quicker achievement of rehabilitation *** research is needed to evaluate long-term effects of protein supplementation and to establish standardized population-specific regimens that maximize treatment efficacy in the postoperative period.

Net primary productivity and species diversity of herbaceous vegetation of banj-oak （Quercus leucotrichophora A. Camus） forest in Kumaun Himalaya, India were analyzed. Across different growth forms （tall forbs, short forbs, cushion and spreading forbs, grasses）, short forbs were most dominant component during rainy season （1VI=152） and winter season （IVI=167） and grasses during the winter season （IVI=148）. maximum above-ground production occurred during rainy season （132.5 g m-2） and minimum during winter season （2.8 g m-~）. Below-ground production was maximum （85.9 g m-x） during winter season and minimum （14.9 g m-x） during summer season. Annual net shoot production was 15o g m-~ and below-ground production was 138 g m-~. Of the total input 61% was channeled to above- ground parts and 39% to below-ground parts.

Background: The discovery of a lethal or disabling malformation requires a thoughtful decision in the event of a termination of pregnancy on medical grounds. The termination of pregnancy can be selective in the case of multiple pregnancies if a twin is suffering from a serious condition. Objective: To report a case of anencephaly on a twin pregnancy and conduct a review of literature. Case: This is a 30-year-old woman carrying a pregnancy obtained after the third attempt at in vitro fertilization (IVF) with transfer of two embryos. No risk factor was found on this pregnancy except for the twinning. The diagnosis was made at 14 weeks +1 day during first term ultrasound, which discovered an on-going bi-chorial bi-amniotic twin pregnancy, with twin B (TB) carrying a defect on his head. A selective interruption was performed on TB at 16 weeks by cordonal injection with potassium chloride. The pregnancy went on without incident and with spontaneous vaginal delivery of the second twin at 39 weeks of pregnancy. Despite the selective termination, the pregnancy went on without any complication. Conclusion: Anencephaly on twin pregnancy is a rare occurrence. In a bichorial pregnancy, a selective feticide can improve the gestational age at birth.

This article presents an experimental and numerical investigation on the strength and performance of intermediate length rack column sections with C-stitches under axial compression. The test program consisted of 10 axial concentric compression tests on columns with and without C-stitches under pin end conditions for two different geometric lengths. Finite element (FE) models were developed using commercial FE package ABAQUs considering material and geometric nonlinearities as well as initial geometric imperfections. The elastic buckling properties of the section were calculated using readily available linear elastic buckling analysis tools based on Generalized Beam Theory (GBT) and Finite strip method (Fsm). Obtained FE results were compared with those obtained experimentally, and once verified the developed FE modeling technique was used to carry out a parametric study to examine changes in structural response due to variations in length, depth and spacing of C-stitches. Observed influences of C-stitches on the behavior and resistance of the considered columns were carefully analyzed, and key design aspects are presented herein.

A debate has arisen over the possibility of using a new ladle-treated Hadfield steel instead of conventional heat-treated Hadfield steel in mining applications. This debate might be solved by identifying the differences between the mechanical properties and strain-hardening properties of conventional heat-treated Hadfield steel and its counterpart ladle-treated Hadfield steel. Tensile and compression tests demonstrated that the ductility of ladle-treated Hadfield steel is similar to that of conventional heat-treated steel. However, the strain-hardening property of the ladle-treated Hadfield steel is almost two times higher than that of the heat-treated Hadfield steel. The results of this study demonstrate that the improvement of the strain-hardening behavior is attributable to the low stacking-fault energy of the main austenite matrix, which results from the high segregation coefficient of carbon and manganese solutes of the main austenite matrix into the new eutectic phase. superior wear abrasion resistance is a potential consequence of different strain-hardening properties under low and high loads.
