The Role of Ultrasonically Guided Fine Needle Cytology in the Diagnosis of Focal Liver Lesions in Sulaimani-Kurdistan Region, Iraq

Background: Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) under image guidance has gained increasing acceptance as the diagnostic procedure of choice for patients with focal hepatic lesions. It can be performed percutaneously or endoscopically. FNA may also be performed at laparoscopy or laparotomy under direct vision when image guided FNA fails to provide diagnostic tissue. In experienced hands, FNA is safe, minimally invasive, accurate, and cost-effective. However, the main aim of this study is to assess the role of FNAC in the evaluation of focal liver lesions. Patients and method: This prospective study was conducted over one year, on 100 patients in Kurdistan Center for Gastroenterology and Hepatology (KCGH) and in Sulaimani General Teaching Hospital. All patients were properly assessed by history analyses and thorough clinical examination. Laboratory investigations including hematological, biochemical, viral markers, and tumor markers were requested. Thus, ultrasonically guided FNA was performed after obtaining a written informed consent from the patients. Results: FNAC showed that eighty patients (80%) had secondary liver metastasis. Ten patients (10%) had HCC;three patients had hemangioma;one patient had abscess;and 6 patients had inconclusive result;two patients had simple cyst. Apart from mild post procedure pain, no complication or mortality had been recorded. Conclusion: FNAC is simple, easy, rapid and a minimally invasive procedure that has an acceptable diagnostic yield for focal liver lesions.

Prediction of the Isothermal Sections in the ZrO_(2)- YO_(1.5)-CeO_(2) System

The experimental work on the ZrO2-YO1.5-CeO2 system, its limiting quasi-binaries and previous thermodynamic assessments are reviewed and evaluated. Isothermal sections of ZrO2-YO1.5-CeO2 system in the temperature region between 1450 and 1800 C are estimated according to the substitutional model using the Bonnier equation. The CSS + YSS two-phase region of the calculated isothermal section at 1700 degreesC was found to be in good agreement with the experimentally obtained ternary diagram of Longo and Podda. The phase composition in the ZrO2-rich corner however disagreed significantly.

Intelligent cluster routing scheme for flying ad hoc networks

Flying ad hoc networks are used for many critical tasks. The network formation for routing data becomes difficult because of the mobility of unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs). To solve the communication issue, we propose an intelligent cluster routing scheme for flying ad hoc networks(CRSF). Cluster head(CH)selection in our proposed methodology is based on fitness, which is determined by the position and UAVs’ residual energy. For the efficient management of UAV swarm, a cluster management mechanism is also proposed, inspired by moth flame optimization. In CRSF, for stable cluster maintenance, a CH re-selection mechanism is proposed in detail, which helps maintain the cluster for effective topology management. A routing mechanism for UAV communication is proposed for CRSF. The route selection for transmission of information is performed using the route identification function based on the Euclidean distance and residual energy. The performance of the proposed CRSF is evaluated and compared with the existing routing algorithms.

Mechanism of adjusting bypass ratio by front variable area bypass injector for a variable cycle engine

The Front Variable Area Bypass Injector(FVABI)is a key to bypass ratio adjustment for a Variable Cycle Engine(VCE).In order to study the role of the FVABI with the Core Driven Fan Stage(CDFS)duct,firstly,the engine bypass with the CDFS duct model and the equivalent engine bypass without the CDFS duct model are designed using the concept of a jet boundary *** comparing the difference between airflow driving forces in the two engine bypass models,the quantitative effects of the injection from the CDFS duct on the mass flow rate of the engine bypass airflow are obtained under different combinations of pressure difference and area ***,the CDFS duct injection characteristic map is obtained through the typical experiment of the *** on this map,the performance model of the FVABI is ***,the turbofan engine model with the Variable Inlet Guide Vane(VIGV),the First Variable Cycle Engine model(VCE1)with the CDFS duct and without the VIGV,and the Second Variable Cycle Engine model(VCE2)with the CDFS duct and VIGV are *** gain on the engine bypass ratio adjustment range caused by the injection from the CDFS duct is clarified by comparing the three engine *** is concluded that the bypass ratio adjustment range of the variable cycle engine with the FVABI is about twice that of the traditional turbofan engine.

Computer simulation of W-C-Co-V system diffusion couples

Diffusion couples,WC/Co-1at.%C,V8C7/Co,and WC/Co-0.3wt.%V8C7 were constructed and annealed at temperatures ranging from 1100 to 1300℃. The concentration profile of V and W atoms in these couples were measured by EPMA. Aided by Thermo-calc ＆ DICTRA software package,the concentration profiles of W and V in established diffusion couples were calculated by the moving boundary model according to revised dynamic parameters and MOB database,respectively. Then the concentration profile of W in Co binder during sintering WC-Co cemented carbide was simulated by the Cell model. It can provide reference for composition and sintering process design of cemented carbides with high performance. Meanwhile,the validity of revised dynamic parameters of the W-C-Co-V system is verified by the comparison of experimental and simulated results.

Sintering, thermal stability and mechanical properties of ZrO2-WC composites obtained by pulsed electric current sintering

ZrO2-WC composites exhibit comparable mechanical properties as traditional WC-Co materials, which provides an opportunity to partially replace WC-Co for some applications. In this study, 2 mol.% Y2O3 stabilized ZrO2 composites with 40 vol.% WC were consolidated in the 1150℃-1850℃ range under a pressure of 60 MPa by pulsed electric current sintering （PECS）. The densification behavior, microstructure and phase constitution of the composites were investigated to clarify the role of the sintering temperature on the grain growth, mechanical properties and thermal stability of ZrO2 and WC components. Analysis results indicated that the composites sintered at 1350℃ and 1450℃ exhibited the highest tetragonal ZrO2 phase transformability, maximum toughness, and hardness and an optimal flexural strength. Chemical reaction of ZrO2 and C, originating from the graphite die, was detected in the composite PECS for 20 min at 1850℃ in vacuum.

Micro fluidic chip has been applied in various biological fields owing to its low-consumption of reagents, high throughput, fuidic controllability and integrity. The well-designed microscale intermediary is also ideal for the study of cell biology. Particularly, microfluidic chip is helpful for better understanding cell-cell interactions. A general survey of recent publications would help to generalize the designs of the co-culture chips with different features. With ingenious and combinational utilization, the chips facilitate the implementation of some special coculture models that are highly concerned in a different spatial and temporal way.
