As technology improves,several modernization efforts are taken in the process of teaching and *** effective education system should maintain global connectivity,federate security and deliver self-access to its *** cloud computing services transform the current education system to an advanced *** exist several tools and services to make teaching and learning more *** the higher education system,the data flow and basic operations are almost the *** systems need to access cloud-based applications and services for their operational advancement and *** a suitable cloud-based education system will leverage all the benefits of the cloud to its *** the same time,educational institutions want to keep their sensitive information more *** that,they need to maintain their on-premises data center along with the cloud *** paper proposes an advanced,flexible and secure hybrid cloud architecture to satisfy the growing demands of an education *** sharing the proposed cloud infrastructure among several higher educational institutions,there is a possibility to implement a common education system among ***,this research demonstrates how a cloud-based education architecture can utilize the advantages of the cloud resources offered by several providers in a hybrid cloud *** addition,a reference architecture using Amazon Web Service(AWS)is proposed to implement a common university education system.

Using Metaheuristic OFA Algorithm for Service Placement in Fog Computing

The use of fog computing in the Internet of Things(IoT)has emerged as a crucial solution,bringing cloud services closer to end users to process large amounts of data generated within the *** its advantages,the increasing task demands from IoT objects often overload fog devices with limited resources,resulting in system delays,high network usage,and increased energy *** of the major challenges in fog computing for IoT applications is the efficient deployment of services between fog *** address this challenge,we propose a novel Optimal Foraging Algorithm(OFA)for task placement on appropriate fog devices,taking into account the limited resources of each fog *** OFA algorithm optimizes task sharing between fog devices by evaluating incoming task requests based on their types and allocating the services to the most suitable fog *** our study,we compare the performance of the OFA algorithm with two other popular algorithms:Genetic Algorithm(GA)and Randomized Search Algorithm(RA).Through extensive simulation experiments,our findings demonstrate significant improvements achieved by the OFA ***,it leads to up to 39.06%reduction in energy consumption for the Elektroensefalografi(EEG)application,up to 25.86%decrease in CPU utilization for the Intelligent surveillance through distributed camera networks(DCNS)application,up to 57.94%reduction in network utilization,and up to 23.83%improvement in runtime,outperforming other *** a result,the proposed OFA algorithm enhances the system’s efficiency by effectively allocating incoming task requests to the appropriate fog devices,mitigating the challenges posed by resource limitations and contributing to a more optimized IoT ecosystem.

Real-Time Indoor Path Planning Using Object Detection for Autonomous Flying Robots

Unknown closed spaces are a big challenge for the navigation of robots since there are no global and pre-defined positioning options in the *** of the simplest and most efficient algorithms,the artificial potential field algorithm(APF),may provide real-time navigation in those places but fall into local mini-mum in some *** overcome this problem and to present alternative escape routes for a robot,possible crossing points in buildings may be detected by using object detection and included in the path planning *** study utilized a proposed sensor fusion method and an improved object classification method for detecting windows,doors,and stairs in buildings and these objects were classified as valid or invalid for the path planning *** performance of the approach was evaluated in a simulated environment with a quadrotor that was equipped with camera and laser imaging detection and ranging(LIDAR)sensors to navigate through an unknown closed space and reach a desired goal *** of crossing points allows the robot to escape from areas where it is *** navigation of the robot has been tested in different scenarios based on the proposed path planning algorithm and compared with other improved APF *** results showed that the improved APF methods and the methods rein-forced with other path planning algorithms were similar in performance with the proposed method for the same goals in the same *** the goals outside the current room,traditional APF methods were quite unsuccessful in reaching the *** though improved methods were able to reach some outside targets,the proposed method gave approximately 17%better results than the most success-ful example in achieving targets outside the current *** proposed method can also work in real-time to discover a building and navigate between rooms.

Dynamic modeling of the horizontal eddy viscosity coefficient for quasigeostrophic ocean circulation problems

This paper puts forth a simplified dynamic modeling strategy for the eddy viscosity coefficient parameterized in space and *** eddy viscosity coefficient is dynamically adjusted to the local structure of the flow using two different nonlinear eddy viscosity functional forms to capture anisotropic dissipation mechanism,namely,(i)the Smagorinsky model using the local strain rate field,and(ii)the Leith model using the gradient of the vorticity *** proposed models are applied to the one-layer and two-layer wind-driven quasigeostrophic ocean circulation problems,which are standard prototypes of more realistic ocean *** show that both models capture the quasi-stationary ocean dynamics and provide the physical level of eddy viscosity distribution without using any a priori ***,it is found that slightly less dissipative results can be obtained by using the dynamic Leith ***-layer numerical experiments also reveal that the proposed dynamic models automatically parameterize the subgrid-scale stress terms in each active ***,the proposed scale-aware models dynamically provide higher values of the eddy viscosity for smaller resolutions taking into account the local resolved flow information,and addressing the intimate relationship between the eddy viscosity coefficients and the numerical resolution employed by the quasigeostrophic models.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the stability and asymptotic behavior of the time-dependent solutions to a linear parabolic equation with nonlinear boundary condition in relation to their corresponding steady state solutions. Then, the above results are extended to a semilinear parabolic equation with nonlinear boundary condition by analyzing the corresponding eigenvalue problem and using the method of upper and lower solutions.

Optimization of drill bit replacement time in open-cast coal mines

To gain a competitive edge within the international and compet让ive setting of coal markets, coal producers must find new ways of reducing costs. Increasing bench drilling efficiency and performance in open-cast coal mines has the potential to generate savings. Specifically, monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing the drilling operation can reduce drilling costs. For example, determining the optimal drill bit replacement time will help to achieve the desirable penetration rate. This paper presents a life data analysis of drill bits to fit a statistical distribution using failure records. These results are then used to formulate a cost minimization problem to estimate the drill bit replacement time using the evolutionary algorithm. The effect of cost on the uncertainty associated with replacement time is assessed through Monte-Carlo simulation. The relationship between the total expected replacement cost and replacement time is also presented. A case study shows that the proposed approach can be used to assist with designing a drill bit replacement schedule and minimize costs in open-cast coal mines.

Globally,educational institutions have reported a dramatic shift to online learning in an effort to contain the COVID-19 *** fundamental concern has been the continuance of *** a result,several novel solutions have been developed to address technical and pedagogical ***,these were not the only difficulties that students *** implemented solutions involved the operation of the educational process with less regard for students’changing circumstances,which obliged them to study from *** should be asked to provide a full list of their *** a result,student reflections,including those from Saudi Arabia,have been analysed to identify obstacles encountered during the COVID-19 ***,most of the analyses relied on closed-ended questions,which limited student *** delve into students’responses,this study used open-ended questions,a qualitative method(content analysis),a quantitative method(topic modelling),and a sentimental *** study also looked at students’emotional states during and after the COVID-19 *** terms of determining trends in students’input,the results showed that quantitative and qualitative methods produced similar *** had unfavourable sentiments about studying during COVID-19 and positive sentiments about the face-to-face ***,topic modelling has revealed that the majority of difficulties are more related to the environment(home)and social *** were less accepting of online *** a result,it is possible to conclude that face-to-face study still attracts students and provides benefits that online study cannot,such as social interaction and effective eye-to-eye communication.

Bread is one of the most consumed major leavened foods all around the world. Yeasts are responsible for leavening the bread dough. However, bread dough contains high amounts of yeast biomass that have the potential to contribute to the bioavailability of the bread. This study aims to find out the potential effects of yeast biomass on bread bioavailability. For this purpose, yeast extracts were produced from three Saccharomyces cerevisiae , two Kazachstania humilis and one Torulaspora delbrueckii strains by autolysis and subsequently the nutritional compositions, phenolic compound profiles, antioxidant activities and immune modulation properties of the yeast extracts were determined. Among yeast samples, S . cerevisiae PFC401 showed high protein, essential amino acids, vitamin B7, total phenolic content and immune modulation property. However, K . humilis PFC393 stood out in terms of DPPH radical scavenging activity, and T . delbrueckii PFC394 in terms of major and minor minerals. These results indicated that the bioactive properties of yeast extracts vary depending on the yeast strain. In conclusion, results showed that yeasts not only leaven the bread dough but also contribute to the bioavailability of bread due to their rich nutritional compositions and bioactive properties.

An automated geo-spatial correction framework for transportation

In this paper, we present a framework to validate and to correct the location information in crash reports. The proposed system is composed of several modules: creation of intersection network and pre-processing, validation, snapping, updating, and *** proposed system utilizes GPS coordinates(latitude/longitude), primary and reference road names, primary direction, and distance to the reference road. The algorithm starts at an initial GPS coordinate provided in the crash report. Additional location information is utilized in case this coordinate does not satisfy certain criteria. After verification of the road names, the correct snapping location is determined using the primary direction and primary distance information. At the final stage, the attributes in the crash data are retrieved from the base map given the snapping point. We tested the proposed system by three different test data sets. The number of correctly identified matches and the average snapping error are calculated for assessment. The experiments show that the proposed framework is capable of geocoding the crashes up to 98% accuracy with the average of 37 feet of snapping error and 64% of the matching records have less than snapping error of 1 foot. However, we observed that considering highly specific cases as an outlier, the snapping error significantly drops. We discuss these cases in detail and propose a remedy as a future work.
